Been here twice in the past two weeks during the World Cup, once after Korea's first game and the other to watch Korea's second game. It doesn't get better than KBBQ + soccer. The food was great as always. Their intestine options are the best in town, my favorite being the large intestine. I think I've converted at least 5 non-intestine-eating friends into intestine fans by now after they've tried it at King Chang. I came in a group of 6 people and ordered the family combo + intestine a la carte and it was more than enough food. Service is always great here. Daniel and Michelle always treat us extremely well and are always attentive. Every staff member we've gotten has cooked our meat perfectly. Never any complaints here, will be back soon! read more

benihana... an asian culinary experience tailored by the white man, for the white man. you put me in front of a hibachi grill, i will be hooting and hollering, proclaiming "gollee gee, this well done steak sure is succulent!" sing happy birthday in japanese to me, and i'll gladly tip 20% on that $139.73 bill. however, it is important for me to step in to culture that is not designed for me. i need the culture shock wake up call often. if you are sick of it being the white man world of which we simply have to opt in to, take a trip to KoreaTown Los Angeles, where at 350 lbs, white, wearing pokemon merch and basketball shorts (and 6'0' btw) you may stick out like a sore thumb. but KING CHANG stands out as a defining culinary experience to me. i felt i had waltzed into a family dinner i was not invited to, but welcomed with open arms. immediately offered a fork, cheese being melted on the grill, and having water constantly refilled even though no the ramen is not too spicy for me (it was) i felt accommodated for at a dinner i was not invited to. the establishment was patient with me, while not holding my hand. what is most special about KING CHANG to me was the conversations i was hearing between employees and customers. regulars were more than appreciated - they were known. as corporations continue to colonize every industry, supporting the "off-the-beaten-path" establishments becomes pivotal. this was a family business in every sense of the phrase. oh, and the food was good too! This is one of my go-to KBBQ spots in Koreatown. We came here on a busy Friday night with coworkers and ordered the pork combo, beef brisket, beef tongue, yukhoe, and even jjolmyeon -- everything was consistently delicious. It's an easy place to bring non-Korean friends as well. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and makes sure the table is well taken care of, even when it's crowded. It's located in the same "alleyway" business spot as Ahgassi Gopchang, both can be prone to be super busy, so keep that in mind. There is a seating/waiting area outside which is nice. We came here on the last day of Anime Expo and we were seated immediately. There's a good amount of tables and seating inside. Perfect. Apparently my boyfriend went here before and ran into Tablo from Epik High. Neat! Service was efficient and they get the food out to you ASAP. Even though there's a place that specializes in intestines next door, my boyfriend can't help but to order it here too, but who can blame him since it's a deliciously crispy and yummy meat and not THAT common, I suppose. We got the medium spicy intestine combo and when we asked how spicy it was, we confirmed that it was around as spicy as Buldak. I've been eating other Buldak variants lately and not the original, so this kind of hit me on the back of the head like a baseball bat. Definitely is an additive spiciness that builds throughout the meal. Somewhat destroyed our less spice tolerant Cantonese friend and we had a lot of food left over. Each combo comes with a stew (we bot the soybean paste one) a steamed egg, aged kimchi, cheese fondue (it's a small tinfoil bowl of cheese you cook on the grill), jalapenos and onions, as well as all of the banchan. There's also the option to choose 3 items and you can duplicate up to 2 items, but I think we just got one of each (small/large intestine and the abomasum). Due to underestimating the spice and being dehydrated after technically 5 days of AX, we were not able to finish all of our food and had to take it to go. First time trying Grilled Intestines at Korean BBQ. It was that busy when we came in which is great because I felt like I could eat in peace. The staff here were read to get to work and took our order pretty quickly. They actually cook and flip the meats for you which I wasn't use to because we usually have to DIY. The setting was the typical kbbq and the booths are cozy. The small intestine was good crispy but the large intestine was a bit too much on the rich fatty side for me. All in all everything was pretty good. The price is decent as it was just the group of us 4 and we split like $50 bucks each not too bad. Came here on a weekday around 8 pm, and it wasn't too busy, which was nice. We ordered the beef combo and the intestine combo. The meat quality here is supposed to be prime, so the prices are a bit higher than other spots. I like that they cook everything for you at the table, and the food itself was good overall. What I didn't like was how rushed the cooking felt. Two of our friends were still on the way, and while we were just hanging out, drinking soju, and waiting, the server started cooking all the meat pretty fast. By the time our friends arrived, the beef combo was already cooked, tossed onto their plates, and looked kind of burnt and cold. It would've been nice if they waited for everyone to show up before starting. That aside, it's still a solid Korean BBQ spot, especially if you're into intestines like I am. Came here randomly on a weekend. Was able to book a reservation through yelp same day 40 minutes in advance, and we were seated pretty easily when we arrived. There were a lot of people so the place is pretty packed and gets loud. Service was really good. Everyone is pretty friendly no issues there food wise it is pretty mid in my opinion. Get the daechang option + beef if you do go. I would personally skip out on the other intestines (small). A lot of people around us got the beef plate option combo so I am curious to try that next time I go. Just right KBBQ. Come for the friendly attentive service and stay for the food that is not taking itself too seriously and just tastes like what your nostalgia for KBBQ should be. Certainly there are more expensive places and ones that might had some even higher quality ingredients but King Chang is getting it all right all the time. Value flavor and service are perfect; can't really do any better. The panchan and cheese and corn all rock and elevate things that did not even need that something extra. We ordered the combo which comes with noodle soup, soybean soup, pork belly for the grill and brisket. Which I'm not quite sure what that is but we opted for 2 orders of small and 1 large intestines. ALSo your choice of soju, we got the peach flavor. We didn't know it already came with two different soups so we also ordered the tofu soup which had little seafood in it, flavor on that was good but we could've done without since there was soooo much food still. They cook everything for you which is great. Place is kind of compacted and crowded. They only have 1 stall per gender. Music blasted which is a vibe. Anyway, the sides and everything was good, I just didn't like how the brisket was cut into strips like you were eating chopped cheese meat. Pork belly was delicious and the small intestines was bomb, super hot and crispy! The large intestines were good but just way way too fatty. The sides were good but for some reason the kimchi had a funky taste so I didn't get to enjoy that. Overall great service, fast food! Total for 4 large adults lol was $200 so we paid about $55 each. Loved this place -- it feels like a step up from your typical KBBQ spot in LA. The meat quality was immediately noticeable, especially the marbling. Everything we tried was well-balanced in flavor and cooked beautifully, but the standout for me was the intestines combo (곱창콤보). It was rich, clean, and surprisingly refined -- not overly greasy or heavy like it can be at other places. We also ordered a few sides, and they were all solid. King Chang might be my favorite KBBQ spot in Koreatown. The banchan and salads are great. There's a huge variety at the table that changes every few days, so every visit feels fresh and different. Our favorites have been tteokbokki, fish cakes, and rolled kimchi. All so good. We've tried just about all of the beef and pork combos and they're all delicious. They each come with a pancake and your choice of soup (soybean, kimchi, even ramen!). Everything is cooked perfectly right at the table. Service is consistently excellent, and even though they're busy, there is usually not a long wait. The team is efficient, attentive, and always makes sure our sides and water are refilled. Love that you can get three type of intestines. Chewy, fatty, and some crispy are just some of the words i would describe the experience here (all good adjectives btw). I also love the ramyun here! i know you can make it at home, but the noodles just goes so well with the meats. The service here is amazing, and they help you get started. Located right next door to Ahgassi and one of the few KBBQ spots in KTown that takes reservations. We made a reservation online for 7 people and had no issues accommodating us. There were quite a few large parties there as well. Here's what we ordered: King Chang Family Combo - This was the perfect amount of food for us. All the beef items - especially the prime boneless short rib - were delicious. The marbling of the beef was actually insane (see pictures). We added a half order of seasoned short rib just in case but we could've done without it. Large intestines - I've only had beef intestines once and was hesitant on trying it again, but this ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the night. This is one of their specialties and highly recommend giving it a try Fried dumplings with mozzarella - These were tasty and weren't too spicy Spicy buckwheat noodles - Pretty standard but served chilled and paired nicely with the grilled meat Huge shoutout to our server Alvin for the best service I have ever had at a KBBQ spot. This KBBQ place is more traditional than your typical KBBQ places regarding the different cuts of meat served and the side dishes. I've heard good things about KingChang so decided to give it a try! We came around 6pm on a Monday evening, and the restaurant was completely empty. It got crowded when we left around 8pm. We took an uber here, so I'm not too sure about the parking situation. The entrance of the restaurant was not on the main road. For two people, we ordered the small beef combo with the beef brisket, prime boneless shortrib, and the seasoned prime boneless shortrib. We didn't realize that the combo with a kimchee pancake and ramen as well. In addition to that, we ordered a cheese potato pancake, kimchee stew, and beer and soju. This was more than enough food for two people, and I think we would've been okay just ordering the combo. We were also given a bunch of different banchan that were delicious. All three meats were soft and flavorful. My favorite was probably the seasoned prime boneless shortrib. It didn't need any additional sauce. I really liked the potato pancake, which reminded me of a breakfast hashbrown. It was crispy and something different from your regular Korean pancake. They were having a special on the beer and soju. When you buy a beer and soju, you get another beer for a penny! This was my first time trying saero soju, and it was the best soju I've had. It was smooth and didn't taste like rubbing alcohol. What an amazing Korean BBQ joint in LA. We went late at night and we were seated right away. Service was prompt, friendly, and responsive. The place was clean, modern, and well ventilated, which is a must for a Korean BBQ place. The set up on the table was new to me. The table had your classic meat grill along with a separate small burner. We later found out that the small burner was for the usual side soup and steamed egg. I thought this setup was pretty clever and very effective in keeping these side soup-based items hot and fresh on the table. Usually, they are cooked in the kitchen and brought to you but with this setup, you taste the freshness as they are cooked right in front of your eyes. I love this setup and perhaps this is the new trend in Korean BBQ. We ordered the beef combo large. It came with all the side dishes along with steamed egg, soy bean paste stew, and as a bonus, ramen! Never had ramen while grilling K-bbq but it was a fantastic combination. Brisket, marinated kalbi, and prime fresh boneless rib were absolutely delicious and high quality. They cooked for you and they were great in every which way. All the side dishes were tasty but I especially loved the raw onion with their house sauce. Their onion went really well with the melted cheese dip for the finished meat. Cool hidden spot! I'm actually happy to have come across King Chang because I'm sure there's times where our regular spots are way too busy and great backup spot! From the second we walked in, we were greeted by Alvin who got our table and provided excellent service along with great recommendations! With his recommendations we got a full B1 prime boneless short rib with amazing marbling cook it medium rare! We also got a full B3 the marinated prime beef short rib also cooked it medium rare. Lastly we also got B4 beef bugogi! Alvin was great because he helped with majority of the cooking which was great because I got to enjoy the meal with the family. So so good! We randomly found this spot and decided to eat here. My kids love bbq so it was perfect after a long day at universal studios. We ordered 1 family combo with meat and 1 combo with intestines. It comes with an amaple amount of banchan, ramen, steamed eggs and rice. We were all so full and happy! This is what they serve in heaven. The flavor of the intestines and abomasum is unreal. Forget wagyu, there's a new flavor king in town. The meaty aroma when you bite into a large intestine is bliss. Granted the intestines and abomasum are impossible to chew, extremely greasy, and it's not as amazing on the tenth piece. But in my heart this is perfect food. I would choose this as my last meal. Warning: the food is pure oil and grease. So probably not for everybody, but I don't care. Every banchan is there to cut through the grease. We also ordered a naengmyeon for that purpose. But if you want to experience the essence of flavor, it's more than worth it. The endless assortment of banchan was amazing as well. The egg (very novel cooking method), soup, mashed potatoes, peanuts, cucumber, rice wrappers, and bean sprouts were all great. I loved the sauces, cheese, and naengmyeon as well. I would expect this quality from a Michelin restaurant, and yet this meal was fully affordable. Nothing to complain regarding service, even though they were super busy. They were busy, but everyone was very friendly and helpful from the hostess at the front, to the team of servers we had. We ordered the beef combo and a pork belly. We loved everything. This spot feels like the kind of K-BBQ place where you might bump into Korean celebrities. Even late at night, the place was still buzzing with Korean diners, which says a lot. We ordered the intestine combo, seafood pancake, and beef tongue -- and honestly, the portions were way more generous than we expected. Seafood Pancake: Extra crispy and absolutely delicious, best eaten fresh off the pan. Beef Tongue: Thinly sliced, super tender, and perfectly grilled by the staff. Intestine Combo: The medium size was more than enough for three people, and it came with large intestine, small intestine, and tripe. The set also includes your choice of soup (spicy tofu stew, soybean stew, or Ramen), plus sides like mashed potatoes and salad that really help cut through the richness. They've got a great selection of meats and classic Korean dishes, and all the banchan (mashed potatoes, tofu, etc.) were so tasty we cleared every plate. A Korean BBQ restaurant, in Ktown, that accepts reservations and has valet parking. It's a no brainer! We originally came to the plaza to eat at the neighboring restaurant, Aghassi, but timing was not on our side. Fortunately, King Chang was our plan B and it did not disappoint. The fried intestines on the sizzle plate was the chef's kiss but everyone seemed to enjoy the melted cheese. Dip your meat in the cheese for that elevated experience. The service was incredible. We spilled a bowl of noodles and someone popped out of nowhere with napkins and cleaned everything up before we could even call for someone. We had the intestines large combo and it came with stew, steamed egg and ramen. I love that they have two burners per table so you can have the meat cooking on one and the stew/egg/ramen on the other. I enjoyed the intestines, esp the daechang. They also give you some rice cakes that you can grill and a small cheese fondue. I wasn't too impressed with the stew, we had the gochujang jjigae and the soybean one might have been better. Service was good, but the bill took forever to take care of at the end. Overall, the staff was working super hard and it was a very busy place on a Saturday. I'd recommend making reservations through Yelp and it really helps with the seating. Definitely one of the better K bbq places. I'd love to come back and try the beef next time! read more

This spot is a decent kbbq spot that does the job well. Their combos come with a variety of meats that are satisfying and there are extras that can be purchased for a decent price. We had to place a reservation as the wait can get long and we had a fairly large party. We ended up ordering 2 combos along with separate sides and the standouts personally was the pork jowl and the small intestine side. Small intestine was flavorful and cooked perfectly before being brought over. The pork jowl, along with the rest of the combo meats, was cooked by the server and they do a good job. Service was also great, the server even cut up smaller bites of meat for the kids in our group which was thoughtful. It wasn't too difficult to flag down anyone for requests. The restaurant itself is a bit small so bigger parties (7+) may feel a bit cramped. There are booths meant to seat around 4 people and those weren't cramped.
