Normally I'm satisfied with my meals from Ahi and Vegetable, but I ordered a Salmon Ikura Don, but there was no ikura, which was what I wanted so I'm very disappointed. Instead they gave me masago or tobiko. It's on the menu, but even when I ordered the meal at cashier the cashier didn't know what it was so I had to point it out on the menu. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant for a light dinner after doing some errands at the nearby establishments. It was our first time here, and we had no clue they have All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Sushi. We were stuck between going for the AYCE or picking from the regular menu. But then, our server, Alyssa, patiently helped us figure it out and walked us through the menu. Her chill vibe, and helpful tips made the decision easier. I opted for the Sumo Spicy Ahi Bowl with sushi rice which is surprisingly a couple dollars cheaper than the Spicy Ahi Bowl. The portion was generous, and the price was just right. Sometimes, I like my ahi shredded and with the perfect sauce, it had me hooked from the first bite and I just couldn't stop eating it. The cleanliness of the place added to the inviting ambiance and Alyssa's impeccable service deserves a special mention. She's attentive, friendly, warm, and always ensuring we had everything we needed, even during the dinner rush. We'll definitely be back, perhaps to try their AYCE option next time. Wife and I had a spontaneous drop in at Ahi & Vegetable Ewa Beach. We discovered that their All You Can Eat is offered every day of the week now. At roughly $35 per person, we thought you really can't go wrong with that price since our average bill at Genki runs about $100. By 11:15am, the restaurant already had (what appeared to be) some regulars doing the AYCE. First impression - the servers were nice and welcoming, and there was a comfortable vibe in the atmosphere. The restaurant is fairly small, with about 10 tables that range from 2 tops to one 6 top. We were lucky to get a 4 seater tucked away in the corner. Once the server came to our table, we let her know we'd be trying the AYCE and that we brought our own beers. She happily said "no problem, we're BYOB" and introduced the ordering system of marking the dry erase menu with our kitchen selections. At first, it seemed like there was a lot to choose from, but with the large portion of rice and fish per 2 piece, and being told we'd have to pay for the leftover food, at the end of the meal there wasn't much that we tried. One downfall is the primary item I wanted was already sold out for the day - the Hamachi Kama. This forced me to rethink what I'd be eating since the Hamachi Kama was the main part of my meal plan. Things we ordered: - Fried calamari: was soaked in oil, clumped & mushy - Miso soup: bowl was wreaking of dish soap :( - French fries - Baked mussels - Agedashi tofu - Nigiri: Hotate, hamachi, masago, tamago, unagi, aburi ebi, spicy ahi, salmon w/onion, ikura (add $3) The nigiri were all okay, except the tamago - I wouldn't order that again here. My wife loved the ikura which unfortunately came at an additional cost. The scallops were very plump and delicious as well. The hot items could've definitely been served better. The miso soup was delicious but it was not pleasurable to eat because the bowl had such a strong smell of dish soap. I mean, thank you for the clean bowl, but - yaaaa.... I was sad about the fried calamari being undercooked and in a few big clumps. It looked great when it hit the table, but as we tried grabbing the first pieces out, we seen it was stuck in clumps and just drenched in oil so the outside breading was falling off and it was soft and mushy. Very off putting! I should've asked for a remake, but we decided to just focus on the rest of our meal. To conclude the experience - it was just OKAY. I should've changed my mind and done ala carte once we were told they didn't have Hamachi Kama, but I gave the AYCE a shot since the price is so reasonable. The loads of rice used to make the sushi steered me away from trying more of a variety tho. What was listed above is all we got to try, partially because the time was going and we kept having to ask for a new menu so we could add items on. There wasn't any button on the table like the other location, so the time lapse between waiting for service delayed the process and we ended up calling it quits. On a positive note, the servers were really nice, that's always a huge plus for us. We'll surely be back to visit Ahi & Vegetable, but probably not for their AYCE. read more

What a pleasant surprise this place was. I've seen them open but opted for go to places in this area instead. Today we walked in thinking rice bowls only but I was wrong. Menu was big to me. A lot of choices from sushi, salad, and bento boxes. What we didn't know was it was an all you can eat sushi for 90 minutes. It's one of those things that if you know you know. We ended up not getting all you can eat as we weren't that hungry and got a sumo spicy ahi bowl (a special) and a chirashi bowl. Fish was definitely fresh and was really a good portioned bowl. Maybe there was too much rice as I had about a quarter of the bowl left with rice only. The server had a lot of patience for us. I like nice and respectful workers like that. Came by for dinner on a Thursday night at 6 PM. They have happy hour food specials from 12-7 for dine in only. The menu also lists drink specials but they don't serve any alcohol at this location and it's BYOB. To start, they give you complimentary miso soup. For food, we ordered: -Nigiri (spicy salmon, spicy ahi, scallop - which was a special) - the spicy salmon and ahi were just okay. The scallop was really good. We ended up getting a second order of this -Hamachi ponzu jalapeno sashimi - very fresh and the ponzu wasn't too overpowering -Maui onion salmon - this was also really good. I liked the Maui onion flavor -Shoyu ahi poke - this was kind of bland. Maybe they didn't marinate it long enough? -Chicken karaage - I wasn't expecting much of this but this was surprisingly good! It came out piping hot and perfectly fried. Plus, it was a generous portion The set-up of the restaurant is a bit weird. It looks like it's mainly set up for takeout. I mean, they're using paper plates for everything. Once you go in, you seat yourself and there's a bell you ring for service. You order, and they bring out the food to you. But the middle/back of the restaurant is where they have the menu screens and people lining up to order takeout. Went in to finally try their all you can eat sushi. The ambiance of this place is more so on the takeout side. You enter at the counter, order up there or say you want to dine in for ayce. They give you a paper containing all the foods you can order. Then an employee comes out with your food once it's ready and drops it off to your table. But by that time you get your food that's the last time you see them accommodate you and then you are on your own. Like I said, it's more so on the takeout side. I had ordered a drink and they didn't give me it and didn't know if they were ever going to since if they had brought out the food, they would bring my drink. So i went up to the counter to ask for it and they just pointed to where the drinks were. So i didn't know I could just grab it myself. Other than the service and ambiance, the sushi and sashimi are tasty, I could eat it again. The fried stuff on the other hand aren't that good. The chicken karaage is a hard pass. It doesn't taste fresh, if anything it tasted like they refried the karaage and burnt it a little and then left it to sit for a long time. It was the first dish they gave to us and it was room temp, not hot or warm. Also felt like it could've used some sauce like mayo on the side to be dipped in or at least seasoned. My most recent visit here was actually my second attempt of trying to go to Ahi & Vegetable in Ewa Beach. The first time the GPS led me to a random neighborhood in Ewa Beach (but don't worry, I updated the address on Yelp so hopefully no one else has this issue!). The restaurant is really clean with tons of seating inside and two picnic style tables outside- which are dog friendly. The cashier was super friendly, and even the manager was making rounds, chatting with customers. Each table's got its own buzzer, which is a cute touch even if it's kinda redundant (I mean, it's not full-service, you order at the counter). I went for their Spicy Ahi Sumo Bowl, priced at $10.99. Look, it was okay, but not mind-blowing. If you're like me and expect your spicy ahi to be chunky, not shredded, then make a note. They do the shredded thing here, kinda like those "dynamite" spreads. You also get to pick your rice (white, brown, or sushi rice), and they toss in free miso soup if you're dining in. It's nothing to write home about, but hey, it's free. They've also got a cool selection of jerky, chips, and drinks, including some from different Asian countries. I've eaten at their Ala Moana and Dillingham locations on many occasions and the food here is on par with them. I arrived around 2pm and was just in time for happy hour. I ordered the hamachi kama off the happy hour menu for $7. My favorite items are the Chirashi Bowl and B2 Bento ( salmon, spicy ahi, ahi, spicy salmon). I got the B2 Bento today. Everything was delicious except the grounded up spicy ahi. I'm not sure what's going on with that. It's minced at the other locations, but not grounded up like this. The fried hamachi kama was fantastic. It was buttery and crispy hot off the fryer. I highly recommend this if you like hamachi. We dined in and the service was great. She brought over a flask of water that we could pour ourselves. She took our order and told us to hit the button on the table if we needed anything. She also asked us if we wanted miso soup that came with our meals. They also sell chips from Asian countries. I wanted to try the Fried Crab Flavor but forgot to pick it up before I left. read more

Came here yesterday to do AYCE sushi. Not my first time here but our first time we ordered their "otoro." They brought it out with our order and we assumed it was just regular ahi, and they upcharge $3 more for each otoro order. We ate it and it tasted good but it was definitely NOT otoro. We asked the server where our otoro was and they said "the red ones was the otoro." Otoro is usually a lot more pinker, I have never seen otoro RED. He said a lot of people confuse the ahi with otoro. Okay so many people make the same complaint and you guys don't think to do something about it? He offers to remake it so he did and brings back the same cut of ahi. I ask him again if that's really the otoro and he said yes. So I asked to see the regular ahi and he brings over someone else's boat to do a side by side comparison AND THEY LOOK THE SAME so we sent it back. I've seen older pictures of people buying otoro here and they absolutely do not look the same as the ones we got last night. Yeah it's only $3/order on top of the $40 you pay for AYCE but don't tell me to my face that this ahi is otoro. I'm still annoyed they even charged us for the first three "otoro" orders at all. We like this place so we probably will come back but never buying otoro from here again. read more

AYCE sushi! What's not to love? Birthday dinner and decided to celebrate here. I was pleasantly surprised. Approached the front to ask how this worked. The girl behind the counter was so helpful and nice. They give you a card and pen. You mark what you'd like, place it in the holder on the table and the server will pick it up and place your order. The menu was pretty extensive. There was a very good selection of all types of sushi, sides, even poke bowls! Ordered tempura, spicy tuna, salmon, ahi and more. During this time they were giving free fountain drinks and hot tea. The second best part? BYOB! Sapporo and Strongs for us! The quality of the fish was top notch. Fresh and great color. It was beautiful! We ate to our hearts content. Things to be mindful of. Price per person was 33-35 pp. you have 90 minutes. You pay with cash you get a slight discount. Don't over order or you'll pay for wasting food. The windows could use some blinds or something to block the sun as it was coming through pretty bright. Luckily the ac was strong to make up for that. They used to have military and senior discounts all the time, but now military is only on Tuesday and senior discount is only until 4pm. This is disappointing. This Ewa Beach location used to be one of our faves for a long time. It seems a lot of the reviews are echoing what we also recently experienced. The ahi n salmon was so overcooked, dry n hard that there was no taste even w the sauces. They must have also chgd up their kimchee because it now tastes like it comes from a bottle w no spice. What's happening there? New cook? New owner? The only reason you get 3 stars is because the baked mussels were yummy!
