Quick friendly service, food is good however they are a little stingy with the poke. Besides that I would recommend this place.

I revisited one of the first poke places that I had reviewed. The last time I came here, it was their grand opening. The promotional special was 50% off any bowl with the purchase of a drink. There are now so many more poke shops around town that it's hard to stand out from the pack. The price for a large bowl is now $14.45 which is a $2.50 increase from their initial price point. If only our wages would rise 20% over a span of fewer than three years (wishful thinking). You still receive only three scoops of protein compared to five scoops offered in a large bowl at some competitors. I did note that the kimchi shrimp and tuna luau were unique ingredients that I have not seen elsewhere. Other than that, the experience was worth a three star rating.

For poki bowl eateries in SD, I would say my favorite is Poki 1 & 1/2, then this comes second, and SD poki Co. comes last. Pros: they have more variety in fish meat to choose from, as well as other types of plates with meat proteins like chicken and eel and spam musubi. Fresh. Portions are good. They have tasty sauces to choose from to put on your poki bowl. I like their passion fruit mango drink. Con: slightly pricier than Poki 1 & 1/2 (ahi poki has $10 for choice of 2 fish meat bowls, and avocado costs extra, whereas Poki 1 & 1/2 is $8.00, avocado included).

I ordered the Large poke online- they gave me the regular size bowl instead of large. Room temperature fish with no flavor whatsoever, ordered their house sauce and needed to add some soy sauce when I got home to somehow enjoy the bland food. Spam musubi- taste straight like fish, disgusting. Guava drink- taste like sugar no guava, had to dump the entire drink. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. What a waste of $25

Delicious POKe. I ordered the small bowl. You can pick what you want on your bowl. And the sauces you want in it. I tried it for the first time and the gentlemen that was there helped me out service is good. Very clean spot. I liked it a lot and will try again soon. They also have a macaroons ice cream sandwiches YuMmmmmm!!! Love them

Large bowl to go with tuna and half salad half brown rice

I love poke. In fact, I could probably eat it almost everyday without getting sick of it. Ahipoki is the closest place to my home to get fresh poke. It is decent, but not my favorite. I have been there three times so far. Like most poke places, you pick your base (salad or rice), your fish, your sauces and your toppings. They do have a lot of choices here, including mango, which is nice. However, here they give you two scoops of fish for a regular size and three for a large. Most places give you three scoops for a regular and five for a large. Well, I love fish and always order a large at this place in order to have my usual three scoops, which makes it more expensive, and gives me a lot of other toppings I really don't want. Also, here, things like yellowtail and avocado cost extra. Some other places they do not charge extra. Finally, as this is a relatively new poke spot for me, I was asking questions about the sauces. The worker did not seem terribly interested and also said she didn't know what some of the sauces were. I thought it was odd that she expected me to just play a guessing game. Anyway, this place is A-OK, but not great...so 3 stars it is!

After living in Hawaii for a while, I may be a bit picky about poke. But sometimes you have to love the one you're with-so I went in to Ahi Poke. The restaurant is In the front of a shopping center on Rosecrans at Sports Arena. It is next to a Noodle & Company and there is a Petsmart in the back. When I walked in I noticed the tables and floor was very clean. I entered and immediately noticed that the floor and tables were very clean. The order line is to the right as you come in. The counters with the fish and toppings also looked really clean and very neat. The menu board gives many choices. You pick your protein, then rice (white or brown) or salad, sauce and then toppings. They were nice and let me taste the tuna before ordering. I asked for the sauce on the side so I could really check it out. It smelled fresh and had a good taste. So I selected the tuna for my protein with steamed rice with a sauce of soy, garlic and sesame oil (?) and toppings of seaweed salad, crab salad, pickled red onions and then a good sprinkling of black sesame seeds. The tuna was delicious. Again, I asked for the sauce on the side to control how much was used. It was good for a touch on the tuna and made the rice more tasty too. The crab was delicious and the pickled onions were also good. My favorite was the seaweed salad. It was crunchy and had a great flavor. The sesame seeds on top added a wonderful crunch and flavor. I highly recommend Ahi Poke. The food is fresh and flavor is very good.

Large poke bowl with half brown rice and half salad

Having been away from home for 10 days and not having poke for 10 days, I was craving some really bad!!! Luckily we came across this place bc it did not disappoint. Service was great! I got to sample the spicy tuna and the tuna luau and both were really good. I decided on those for my large poke bowl (which included 3 scoops. So I got 2 scoops of their tuna luau which also had some avocado, onion, and their house sauce), and 1 scoop of the spicy tuna. I opted for half brown rice and half salad as my base. The toppings are great, as you can choose all if you would like! I got edamame, green onions, red onion, crab, hard boiled egg, furikake, wasabi, and crispy onions. The large poke bowl was $11.95 which was a good deal for the amount of food I got. My husband had a salmon bowl which he enjoyed and I didn't get a picture of because he dug in to it too fast, lol!! Would def come back again when we're in San Diego!

Hey Yelpers! Visit: May 31st 6:30 pm I am extremely disappointed in this place. I was excited since this place had 4 stars at least... Sadly this place is no where near 4 stars. Staff/Cleanliness: First off this place was not busy when we came in and there was TWO workers. I've been to poke shops that have only had one person working the whole place and I received cleaner and better service at those other poke shops. This place had a dirty food preparation space, unorganized, unprepared, and careless customer service. Please hire new employees, that care and respect their job. Food Issues: Second they were out of three different proteins, out of WHITE RICE, out of masago, one half of an avocado left over. OVERCHARGED: Third since they were out of majority of their menu, it would've been nice to received avocado with no charge... Instead they double charged me for two orders off avocado. Clearly, I only received one order of avocado. Overly Priced: This place is the absolute worst poke place I've ever been too. Way over priced, a large bowl only contains 3 scoops of protein. Containers are very small. Food Taste: I was excited because besides all of that, the food looked good in the to go containers.... Wow, the crab meat tasted expired. The organic salad tasted like they did not prewash it before serving. I ended up throwing it out, I could not handle the taste anymore. Parking:Yes Staff: Horrible Recommend: NO, Will not be going back.

I love poki!!! Decided to stop at this spot before even seeing the reviews which I loved to see what I saw from the get go! Didn't know exactly how the process was l, but encountered 2 friendly ladies more than willing to explain the building process. Once I had chosen my fish, it was time for the toppings, they stack the plates nicely and I like the way they help each other. The bowl looked and tasted fantastic!! The place is clean and it's simply great! This was my first time here and it will not be the last. Eating healthy and delicious food is the idea. Really liked all the options for my bowl and also. Thanks for the great job you guys are doing :)

It was our first time there. The stuff with glasses was very aggressive and bad attitude with us. My friend was order large order but she got regular size it's seem like she doesn't want to serve us a food !!!! BAD EXPERIENCES!!!!!!

I'm not sure whether the perceived fishy, mushy character of their fish was enhanced by the very pungent smell of wet, rotting fish emanating throughout the restaurant. In fact, the odor was prevalent upon walking in and throughout dinner itself. The boyfriend and I noticed that they were cooking their whole salmon and eel dishes out in the open, however, the smell of wet fish and cooked fish are different and should not be that noticeable. I happened to pick at my boyfriend's bowl only, but his large poke bowl with 3 scoops of protein at $11.95 was rather small; more a size of a regular at another poke joint. As mentioned, it seemed too fishy to me. One interesting selection for their fish was their *Tuna Luau*. I guess this is their prepped poke selection which already includes slices of avocado. If you don't want to pay $1 extra for a side of avocado, get this to cheat the system. In addition to the bowl, a Thai tea ($3.50) was also forced upon me by the ever too kind boyfriend. I did not like how the worker encouraged it even though I said I did not want one after sampling it and noticing how watery and tasteless it was. A big maybe 22oz cup of this was just as bland and watered down.

I like Poke, and I am one of those who is really pleased that many poke shops continue to open up around town. I decided on the regular two scoop bowl featuring tuna and salmon as my protein with a variety of toppings including avocado which I gladly paid a dollar extra for. The bowl came with a good amount of tuna and salmon. Both were very tasty and of decent quality. I did think the salmon did offer more of that velvety rich texture. The krab salad was fresh and so were the fresh cut cucumbers, onions, and edamame. My base was brown rice and it was well prepared. All the topping were great, but my favorite were the avocado and seaweed salad. I like the way they slices and fanned out the avocado, which was perfect ripe, and the seaweed had great flavor and a good crunch. I went for the garlic and soy sauce which was not to overbearing. Service was very good and very upbeat. Their prices are right in line with most of their competition. The bowl cost $9.95 plus and extra $1 for the avocado.

This place is really good! I was a little skeptical reading the reviews about the customer service but honestly i had a great experience. An older gentleman helped me out and he was super friendly and helpful. I love that they have more options for fish versus other places! The fish was very tasty and fresh. My only complaint is it's pricier than most poke places I've been to and the regular bowl only has two scoops of fish instead of 3! But overall amazing and I will definitely return! read more

Ever since my trip to Hawaii, I've been craving an ahipoki bowl. It was suggested I try this place and am I glad I did! Everything tasted fresh! I have been back several times since the first time I walked in. Friendly staff. Clean area... a few tables outside to enjoy the sun! Portions are good size (and if you're getting a bowl, you can always add an extra scoop!!) I will always return to this location! read more

This place used to be 5 stars especially with their quality, perfect servings, and spot on spam musubi. It is now my 3rd time in the last month where I've gotten sub-par food and service. Not to mention, they raised their prices while doing it. My spam musubi was soggy, my salad had 4 cubes of fish to account for one scoop serving, and some of my toppings were forgotten. Too bad because this place is conveniently located for me. read more

I eat a lot of poke and this place has some of the freshest fish I've ever tasted. I got a bowl with Tuna Luau and kimchi shrimp, with kelp noodles, and it was delicious and super fresh. I got the guava drink and it was extremely refreshing. Definitely want to come back to try their unagi musubi!!!!! read more

This place was pretty new and you can tell hasn't been around too long but the food was great. The variety and selection was very fresh and the people working there were very helpful and explainers everything well. Poke is the new hype and this place would be a great place to take anyone who is not too familiar with poke and it would be a great experience. Very clean inside also. read more

Here to satisfy your poke fix, but perhaps not impress you. As poke gears up to be the new "it" grab-and-go culinary trend, there's a lot of ways to do it good...and do it decently. Their bowl options are affordable and a great size, but the accompaniments could be built off a bit more. I feel like their "build a poke bowl" topping options are a little less extensive than it's counterparts. Also, the fish itself was nothing to be talking about afterwards. Clean space, and great indoor dining tables to cater to your fix. read more

Place was amazing. The guy and girl that served us were fast and friendly. The place was clean. The food was fresh and Loki was tasty. I suggest doing the large poki over the greens (salad) and then do a mix of soy red sauce with the mayo red sauce and the ginger soy, and have them kick that up a notch with the dry spices. Amazing! I have been craving this all week after I had it. So tasty! read more

Never disappointed when coming here. Great selection of seafood meat and toppings. It's in a decent location that can get busy but has ample indoor and outdoor sitting. The food is really good here, I'd really recommend if you're in the area. However, the service is absolutely horrible. The employees are not only rude, but it seems like they do not care about the job they're doing leading to negligence when your order is being prepared. I've been here 8 times already and every time they mess up on something. This place should receive 5 stars because of the quality and taste of food, but service just isn't there. read more

Excellent representation of a good poke joint. The employees were helpful, and the portions of fish were generous. AhiPoki is a clean, new looking establishment in a nicely developed part of town. Parking is easy, and the outside of the storefront looks rather attractive. The inside is very pleasing to the eye as well, with some nice music and decorations such as taxidermies. The selection of fish is very nice, and fresh looking. There is the Tuna Luau, a mix of tuna, garlic soy mirin, and avocados, yellowtail, even octopus and albacore tuna. There is furikake and healthy variety of options to top and sauce your poke bowl with. The taste is really great here, and I think is definitely one of the best poke bowls I've ever had. The sauce and fish were fresh and flavorful, and the rice was just the right temperature, consistency, and taste. Keep up the good work guys, I'll be back! :) read more

Went in for the first time. While everything tasted ok, I was very disappointed that the man assembling my poke bowl had his nose completely uncovered intentionally out of his mask, and also 3 guests placing orders were allowed to come in with no masks on at all. I should have walked out, but was picking up for another person as well. MANAGERS: Please insist your employees and customers wear full masks at all times as I am sure this is in violation of current COVID practices for serving food. Thank you. read more

Ordered 4 bowls for myself and co-workers and was quite disappointed by the portion. Ordered three regulars and a large and idk if they ran out of containers but they put it in a small container. Waste of 15 dollars each person. Salmon tasted fishi. Walk away from this place at all costs. read more

I go to this place all the time, and usually it's fantastic. However today I had a less than satisfactory experience so I had to write a review. I always get the regular bowl with white rice and usually it's a nice sticky rice. Now I don't know if this was a one time error or supply chain issue or what, but today's bowl had non-sticky rice. I know it shouldn't make a difference, but it did. The texture being off and the flavor of the rice was off and it just was not a good meal. As I said I've been going to this place for years and it's normally 4.5 stars...I'll give them another chance to redeem themselves but if I get non sticky rice again they are on my banned list. read more

Food is great but the customer service sucks. The person who made my bowl had a visible bad attitude, slammed my scoops of food into my tray like a mean lunch lady and rolled her eyes when I asked about one of the options. A much more friendly person rang up my order and when I questioned it they were trained to speed rush through a order (I was the only person in the restaurant at this point) he answered they have shipments coming in on Wednesday and kind of hinted at the fact the person who handled me might have been feeling rushed because she need to prepare for the shipment to be delivered. The focus should be on providing excellent customer service, over worrying about a shipment of supplies that hadn't even made it to the restaurant yet. read more

As of this week, AhiPoki is now open for poke! The kind of place where you get to pick your base (rice - white or brown, or salad, or 1/2 and 1/2, pick your fish, and all your toppings and your sauce - just the way you like it). Stopped in last night with my daughter last night after a long mountain hike, and it was just what we needed. I tried the wasabi citrus sauce, and she had the House special sauce - I think I liked hers better. Loved the fresh fish and all the toppings - cucumber, green onion, daikon sprouts, seaweed salad, crab salad, edamame, and more. Few items, like yellowtail or avocaco, are extra. Service was super friendly. Right now, they're running a grand opening special where you get 50% if you order one of their fountain drinks, too. We had a tropical drink and guava drink, and they were a little sweet, but pretty tasty. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Service & Food were disappointing. I ordered my food and the lady behind the counter was very rude and did not appear to want to be working. After a few bites of eating my sushi bowl, I immediately got a piercing headache. Needless to say, I did not continue to eat the food and threw my bowl away. What a waist of money! This place does not need to remain open. Save your money and health and go someplace else. This place does not even deserve 1 star. read more

My favorite thing about Ahi Poke is that you can order a side of unagi with your poke bowl that's amazing to me! The portion is bigger than what you'd be served at a traditional sushi place and so much cheaper for the portion size as well. I always order an extra piece of unagi with my bowl to make it that much more delicious read more

So stoked that a poki place finally opened in my neighborhood! Pretty decent price at $10 for the regular size (2 scoops of fish). The staff seemed to have tunnel vision, only focusing on what was directly in front of them while ignoring everyone else. After standing there for quite a while, I finally had to ask about my order. Instead of it being ready like it should have been, they hadn't even started making it. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in line for something that was ordered hours earlier. What made it worse was when the mistake became obvious, no one apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. The staff acted like it was no big deal and showed zero professionalism or accountability. I don't come into the city often, but when I do I like to try new places. Sadly, this experience was disappointing and the customer service was extremely poor. I would honestly say save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers--especially in this economy. Time is money, and money is time. If a restaurant doesn't respect your time, they're definitely not going to respect your money. As for the food, it was very basic and lacked flavor. They were also very stingy with the sauce, which made the bowl even more dry and underwhelming. Overall, between the poor service, long wait despite ordering hours ahead, lack of accountability from staff, and mediocre food, this place was a big disappointment. I will not be coming back. If you love Poke, this place is for you. They're prices are very reasonable and not too expensive, but you also want to make sure you're paying for what you're getting. When it comes to raw fish, you especially want it to be good quality otherwise you run the risk of getting sick, which isn't very much fun. Seating options are available and the tables are kept pretty clean. I especially like stopping here with friends on a hot day because the fish is cold and it kind of cools you down. Parking isn't very difficult either, but I'm not sure how the restrooms are. Staff is very friendly and nice! They have no problem helping you out and answering any questions you may have regarding the food. The prices are about $10 for the regular size which hooks you up with 2 scoops of fish, and my favorite fish is the albacore. Definitely try the octopus because its bomb:) read more

Me and my husband decided to try it for the first time, we love poke and just moved to the neighborhood. The website said it closed at 10pm. We got there at 9:35 and unfortunately the lady was cleaning and said they were closed because they needed to go home. Very disappointing. The good news is that Panda Express was just across the street and we knew that they would follow their hours. Got at Panda 9:55 and they didn't have the food we wanted ready to go.. the difference is that instead of sending us home they started cooking it. That's how a great costumer service is done.
