This place hits every time! I've been serval times and every time I'm so happy with my meal. I love that it's kind of subway style where you tell them what all you want on your bowl and it's very easy and custom. The fish tastes fresh and all their sauces are delish! You get a good amount of food and it's a good price for poké. The fish was fresh and had good flavor. There were also lots of options for sauces and toppings. I will say my cucumber was bitter but I wonder if it's always that way or it was just the cucumber I got that day. The server was kind and helpful. It was my first time going so I had a couple questions and he was really helpful. The outdoor seating is fun because you get to people watch everyone in PB walking by. They also had indoor seating but I chose to sit outside because the weather was nice. read more

Poke Chop is such an outstanding poke place at Pacific beach. The place was very clean. The staff were welcoming. They have detailed instructions for the customers on how to order. There are five steps when creating your order: the base, the unlimited sides, the protein, sauces, and lastly the toppings. They also have a menu for ready-made poke. Their poke was very fresh, flavorful and the amount was generous. The service was excellent. We enjoyed our poke bowls. There was no indoor seating, only outdoor seating. Most of the customers were picking up their orders. Parking is available in the side street but may be difficult. I am glad I found this outstanding Poke Chop. For sure I will be back when I am visiting San Diego. read more

Such a great poke shop!! We love coming here. We have always had a good experience. The food tastes fresh and flavorful. I love the variety of ingredients and toppings. You can really customize it to your liking. The staff is good at providing recommendations as well. If you are not sure where to start they have recommended bowls on their menu. I have never eaten at the facility but they have a small outdoor seating area. We love it for a grab and go. The portions are also generous so you can have leftovers. read more

I went here a couple of times but this is my first time reviewing. All of the times I went, I got the salmon and tuna as the protein. They really pack the bowl which is great! They have the menu on the side and on the table to order as you go (makes it easier for customers to see what they want). There's a few tables outside to enjoy the food. It's mainly a Take Out place. This place is so so delicious I love how it is not like regular Hawaiian poke and we can add a lot of toppings. service is great and the workers are fast asf! They are so fun and have great recommendations. The ambiance is cute this place is located on the pacific beach strip so the parking is a bit difficult sometimes but it's worth it. The poke is delicious and I love the sauces they offer as well and on top of that this is affordable!!!! You are not breaking your wallet and paying 20+$ per bowl. Definitely hit this place up if you want some good poke you won't regret it! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The front staff were extremely unfriendly. Raising their voice at customers & being very rude forcing customers out the door. Their attitude was so upsetting & after being treated like garbage they even got my order wrong by giving me a small when I asked for a large. Excellent poke that absolutely hit the spot. I got the Pacific Beach signature, and wife got a 5 scoop custom bowl. There is little rice and a whole lot of crave-able, fresh fish. The variety of proteins and toppings is outstanding. I would have to say my wife's custom bowl was more spectacular because of her tasty choices, especially salmon and scallops. Service was quick and courteous. Price is somewhat high ($50+), but I'm satisfied given the amount of seafood. read more

Awesome vibes and great poke! I hold poke in San Diego close to my heart, but that comes with high standards. I've been here a few times and the workers are always so warm and provide excellent recommendations. It's a small establishment, but spacious enough to accommodate a line of hungry customers for convenient take out. They have more fresh fish choices than most of the poke places around and a great variety of complimentary toppings and sauces to go with them. Reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of these bowls and well worth the trip. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 4 pm. There was free street parking around the blocks. A few people were in front of us ordering and then a few people came behind us. Inside has no seating and is pretty small and dim. The outside patio has 3-4 tables for small groups to sit at. Ordering was super easy. We all got medium bowls with white rice which comes with 3 scoops of protein. I got 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of seared tuna. I got all 4 veggie sides with extra corn and I got the spicy mayo and jalapeño wasabi sauces. They had a good selection of toppings as well. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious!! We were al very impressed with the size and quality of the bowls. We all were able to finish but just barely. I would definitely come again, some of the best poke bowls I've had! read more

Vivian and Jilena were awesome. Im still kinda new to poke and sometimes all the options can seem a bit overwhelming but they were very patient and helpful, explaining and answering my questions. My bowl was delicious. Inside is clean and open. I don't believe there is inside seating but there is some outdoor tables and chairs. It was a lovely day so I enjoyed my bowl here. we loved it for so ling, but then the prices went up (a lot) and the time I went a few weeks ago they'd forgotten to add the sauce(s) so when I got home it was pretty dry...I tried again this week with a friend from out of town---and we took it home. The gal who prepared it seemed incapable of smiling or making contact, and there were two long dark hairs in my bowl. Not sure I'll go back. It's just not inviting- chairs all stacked up, no smiles...meh. read more

The staff is absolutely rude. Last night was not my first time witnessing a very disrespectful interaction between the staff and a customer. I've been coming here for years, but sadly, after yesterday, I won't be returning. I kindly asked if I could have a little bit of seaweed salad on the side. The gentleman helping me was very nice and told me he would put it in foil for me, and I thanked him. Then, a lady (Asian, plus-sized) abruptly told him, "No, can't do that." I asked her why, and she responded with a face and said, "I don't know, we just work here, miss." I told her that I used to work in the service industry for four years, and I know this is not how you talk to customers. She could have simply said, "Sorry, it's just our policy." The staff seemed to have tunnel vision, only focusing on what was directly in front of them while ignoring everyone else. After standing there for quite a while, I finally had to ask about my order. Instead of it being ready like it should have been, they hadn't even started making it. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in line for something that was ordered hours earlier. What made it worse was when the mistake became obvious, no one apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. The staff acted like it was no big deal and showed zero professionalism or accountability. I don't come into the city often, but when I do I like to try new places. Sadly, this experience was disappointing and the customer service was extremely poor. I would honestly say save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers--especially in this economy. Time is money, and money is time. If a restaurant doesn't respect your time, they're definitely not going to respect your money. As for the food, it was very basic and lacked flavor. They were also very stingy with the sauce, which made the bowl even more dry and underwhelming. Overall, between the poor service, long wait despite ordering hours ahead, lack of accountability from staff, and mediocre food, this place was a big disappointment. I will not be coming back. I had been to SD twice before and wanted to check out somewhere I hadn't been. Enter Blue Water - the reviews and pics looks great, and the weather called for seafood, so I decided to head here and check it out. This Blue Water is located on India St in Mission Hills, though they have another location in Ocean Beach. Parking can be a little tricky, as there is no parking lot they are on a main road close to a split in a residential area. The interior is pretty spacious - the fish market is towards the front, and the ordering counter is in the back. Seating is spread out between the main area where the market is, a side room, and outdoors in the front. Decor and aesthetics are casual - very seafood restaurant-esque with straightforward design. The foot traffic set up so you order first and then find a table before they serve your meal to you. The menu is extensive - they have a large selection of fish that can be prepared several ways. It's a little overwhelming to take in, but there was no pressure for us to order; if there's a line all the more time to explore. I ultimately decided to get their mini shrimp tacos - these were served on a corn tortilla and topped with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, white sauce, and cheddar cheese with a side of tomatillo sauce. The tacos were great - super fresh, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and all the flavors and textures worked really well together. I also ordered a cup of NE clam chowder which was good - not the best one I've had but for being in Southern California it held its own. Service was good - I'm seeing reviews of long lines but I think I came at the right time; there are barely a line to order and my meal was served shortly after that. Overall, Blue Water is a yes - I had a great experience here and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

The worst part is, it wasn't even polite when they asked us. All the employees were giving us attitude for something they didn't tell us when we arrived, nor when they gave us the high chair. They want all four of us to stand in line instead of sitting at the empty tables. They seriously need training on customer service, at least to show empathy, sincerity and apologize to customers. I guess they don't care because we're Asian and believe they don't need our business here.
