As far as AYCE sushi restaurants go, Aikan had a lot of great options. Service was quick as well. I wasn't blown away by anything from their premium options though unfortunately. Probably won't be choosing the Premium AYCE in the future. From the regular choices, I liked most of the appetizers (boiled mussels, fried oysters, agedashi tofu, miso soup, cucumber salad, sashimi salad, and seaweed salad). I think I could've just done appetizers all day, because the nigiris were just alright. The seared salmon was the only one I cared to get a second of. The regular tuna was pretty sad looking, and the toro was ok. Uni was good but small. I'd say with the try for sure!

Great service and great food! I loved the garlic yellowtail and the halibut sushi. Came at lunch and got the signature menu ayce and sat at the bar. Server was very attentive and they had my favorite beer from Okinawa I will be coming back! The server Alakai wasn't working my section and still came to help us with drinks and drop food.

Been meaning to try Aikan Sushi for awhile. Was visiting my friend and they wanted to come here for dinner, so it worked out! The menu here is super extensive and broken down by regular and premium. Honestly, there really is no need to get the premium menu because there are so many options on the regular menu. What I really cared about was the quality of the nigiri since I have been to many AYCE sushi places where the fish quality was questionable at best. Pretty good here, much fresher than I was expecting and very plentiful cuts! Rest of the menu is solid, can't go wrong with anything on here honestly. Staff were great here. Our server was extremely friendly! Food came out super quick, which is no small feat given how much we ordered. They really have it down to a science here. I wasn't expecting much, but Aikan definitely beat the expectations I had for it. I'm not much of an AYCE guy anymore, but I would definitely come back here.

Food was fantastic. The quality of the fish was very high for an all you can eat. I have eaten at a variety of AYCE style restaurants that serve sushi and this was up to par with other high quality options. There were a variety or rolls, nigiri, and a large selection of appetizers. Everything tasted fresh and was a good experience. Many rolls are offered in 4 pieces which can give you more options to try a larger variety of rolls! Service was fantastic. This is a solid option for all you can eat sushi, even outside of Long Beach area. It was worth the drive from Orange County.

Came back to try their new menu and I am so impressed!! The two menu options were easy to understand but we came for the signature selection and it is really worth it! Loved their carpaccio, it's 3 pieces now but the slices are bigger. They added unlimited premium items and now I get to have all the ikura I want hehehe. Definitely try the uni pasta and ceviche crackers!! Great service and food came out in a timely manner. Will come back again!

As far as quality goes this place was pretty good, especially for AYCE. The sushi was fresh, the service was relatively quick, and the staff were really nice. It's the perfect spot for a casual date night or dinner with friends. We tried a variety of sushi options including the dynamite, salmon pleasure roll, yellow tail, spicy tuna crispy rice, AIKAN special roll, rainbow roll, lion king roll, skinny salmon roll, and Long Beach roll. My favorites were the salmon pleasure and lion king rolls but honestly everything was delicious! I like that they bring them out in half orders so you can order a variety of options, eat at a good pace, and not waste because they do charge a fee if you order food and don't eat it. Be prepared for a wait since the restaurant can be packed on the weekend. Highly recommend

SO GOOD! This is my go to sushi restaurant around LA and OC because of how fresh and flavorful everything is. They just came out with a new menu and we decided to try the signature out and I can say it's well worth it! Everything from the carpaccio (mackerel & yellowtail are the best) to the new classic sushi's (the saba bouzushi was super yummy) was top tier. The uni cream and mentaiko udon as well, such a great add!! The service, as always, is the best. Will definitely be doing the signature menu from now on!!

I was in the mood for sushi but I was kind of sick of my usual go to places. I havent been to ayce in a long time, but since i was in the area i decided to go to my old fave! Whenever I go to an all you can eat place I try to keep my expectations low because its typically quantity over quality, but honestly the quality was really good here. They have sooo many options on their menu. Good selection of hot foods, sushi, rolls, soups, and my favorite, unlimited carpaccio! My friend and I opted for the signature option because why not? Unlimited halibut, unlimited blue crab, unlimited softshell crab?! Such a steal for the price! Some of my favorites were the ceviche crackers, salmon tataki carpaccio, garlic yellowtail, aburi shrimp, truffle salmon, uni cream udon, just to name a few. Since it was only me and friend we didnt get to try everything we wanted before we got too full. Next time im definitely coming with a larger group!

The sushi overall was just okay nothing that really stood out. The tuna in particular wasn't great and had a bit of an off taste which was disappointing. That said, upgrading to the premium menu was definitely worth it since it gives you more variety and better options to choose from. The mussels and appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal they were flavorful and well prepared. Service was decent and the experience was fine overall, but I wouldn't come here specifically for the sushi.

Marinated beef, Nigiri, hand roll, tiger roll, Tama.

Been coming here for a few years now, always clean, always great service and food comes quickly. I almost always enjoy the all you can eat experience but the Al a Carte and happy hour is wonderful as well. Recently visited to try the new Signature menu, the new signature menu surpasses the previous premium menu tenfold, some of my favorite new items were the Mackerel with gobo carpaccio, the garlic yellowtail nigiri, eggplant katsu and the black widow roll. In addition they've also expanded their soup selection to include more variety I look forward to enjoy! Amazing attentive service, Caleb and Alikai took great care of us and everyone else ensured our table space remained clear and delivered food quickly and efficiently!

(From Top Left) Japanese Scallop, Snow Crab Daily Special, Truffle Salmon, Garlic Yellowtail, Aburi Salmon, Blue Crab

Went in for lunch to try their new Signature menu option. Food and service were truly phenomenal. You can tell that the owners and mangers care about and have invested in this establishment even down to the packaging of their chopsticks. Wonderful environment and even greater quality food. We tried all of their Signature Exclusive sushi pieces and each one was of the highest quality and were just wonderful. Will definitely come back and should be on your list to try.

    Carpaccios

Hands down one of the best all you can eat sushi restaurants Ive ever been to! I was a little skeptical because it is a little more pricey than other all you can eat places, but as soon as you get your food it's easy to understand why. My party decided to go with the signature option and was surprised with the value. The carpaccios alone make the signature worth it! The cuts are so generous and unlimited?! Say less! My favorite was the salmon tataki carpaccio and surprisingly the mackerel carpaccio. This location didn't have ramen, but its probably a good thing that i couldn't order it cuz it would've made me full faster lol. The service was on point and vibes were lit from the edm. Just an overall great time. Can't wait to go back!

One star off for this sad and sorry oyster - I would not serve this

What time is lunch from to get the lunch prices? It's no where on the website.

    it's from 11:30 to 3pm from Mon-Fri.

Do they have rice paper for the sushi rolls ? I don't like the seaweed unfortunately

I'm not sure but you can probably call them and ask. I love seaweed !!

Do they close on Veteran's day?

    they are open

Does Premium option includes Sashimi AYCE? I don't like eating rice.

Yes! We ordered a lot of it!

Hi, what is the difference between the regular and premium all you can eat? is premium the whole menu?

Yep the premium one has four or five extra seafood items. But I think there was a limit to order the select few premium items

    All you can eat?

Yes. $32 lunch, $38 lunch premium, dinner $39, $45 dinner premium. Higher price point, but the quality of fish was good and rice / fish ratio was better than fair.

    Do they take reservations?

Hello Thank you for your interested Unfortunately, we do not accept any reservations…

What is the hour of lunch menu price?

Hello Thank you for your interest Our Lunch starts from 11:30am-3pm weekdays…

Is there seating for a group of 8?

    Yes

    Do they take reservations?

They have waitlist from Yelp. But I'm sure they take reservations if you have a big party.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

My company ordered the lamb burger. All dishes we beautifully plated; true works of art. Neither of us had any complaints about presentation and creativity. As far as taste and as excited as we were to dig in to our food, the ONLY setback was the lack of seasoning mainly salt. I'm aware that a Chef does their best to meet the expectations of their guest. I'm also aware that meeting everyone's expectations is impossible. To confirm my advice of needing some salt in the food I patrons the restaurant twice, two days in a row. The food needs more salt and I stand solid on that opinion. The service was great and I thanked Mel for taking such great care of us. Mel is a rockstar!
