During those times, I try to put in smaller orders of nigiri so that I can make sure the sushi keeps on coming haha. I haven't had any issues getting more than 3 rounds of orders placed, I've always asked for an extra paper. Great deal considering the quality of the fish and amount of nigiri. I do appreciate that they don't pack their nigiris with a lot of rice like some other ayce sushi joints do. Also, depending on where you're sitting, consider bringing a jacket. Aikan is definitely one of my favorite AYCE sushi spots in SoCal. I frequented the Artesia location but am so glad there is now a Long Beach location which is closer to home for me. There is a summer offering right now for $27.99 AYCE regular lunch menu on weekdays, which is a spectacular deal. I typically get the premium for offerings like raw oyster, uni, softshell crab, jumbo scallop, toro, etc... but this deal was too great to pass up when I went this past week. Also $1 Sapporo deal if you follow them on Instagram! I typically come right when they open or off hours to avoid any wait (especially at this smaller location). The quality is good and there is a decent rice to fish ratio for being an AYCE spot. What sets Aikan apart from other local AYCE for me is their offering of fried oysters as an appetizer! No where else that I have found locally offers this. It's my favorite appetizer (that and the takoyaki which they do very well compared to other places). Otherwise, I just stick to the sushi -- favorites being the salmon and yellowtail. They also have several options of carpaccio (the closest you can get to sashimi for AYCE); these are really thin cuts, but it is AYCE so you can keep them coming. The food always comes out very fast and the staff is really on top of coming to take away your tons of plates. Smaller lot for parking at this location but I don't usually have an issue. They also have great weekday HH deals if you don't want to commit to AYCE. read more

I came two separate times; alone and with two friends. I truly enjoyed the ayce here! When I first went alone, I opted for regular lunch menu, while with my two friends we went for the premium dinner menu! The service was amazing, multiple servers came to check on my table and see how I was doing. The food was delicious, appetizers were delicious, and presentation of the dishes was beautiful. The atmosphere was very welcoming and cozy, very enjoyable to dine in. The premium menu has its flaws, only one item per person then charge per piece after that. Not sure if it's like this for all ayce, but I wished it was more lenient. Other than that, this is a great place to satisfy your ayce craving. read more

Finally tried Aikan's premium AYCE sushi on a weekday for lunch, primarily for the cheaper price ($48 vs $55). I like that you can get the premium option even during lunchtime. If you're going purely by fish-to-rice ratio it's not the smallest rice options, but I like the overall taste of the dishes and appetizers. The premium items are limited to one order per person, but there's a lot of options, and they have top-tier premium items. It's one of the few places in this area that still has uni, bluefin toro, and halibut, so I really appreciated that. All of them are extremely good. I also love scallops, salmon toro, and yellowtail toro, so they were super tasty too. I'm surprised ikura was a premium item. Some of the other premium items are a little large and filling, so I would not order "one per person" for all of them rest--soft shell crap, shishamo tempura, gyu-don. As for the non-premium items, I did love the yuzu salmon and yellowtail nigiri. I also like that the rolls are 4-6 pieces, so I feel like you don't get too full off of the rolls. The no rice rolls weren't too bad either and not super doused and covered in sauce, which is what I find at other spots. I think Aikan has moved up to become my favorite AYCE sushi place in the area. We come to Aikan at least once a month now and it's easily our go-to AYCE sushi spot. It's not like most all-you-can-eat places, the quality here is actually really solid, especially the sushi and rolls. The Aikan roll and Dragon roll are both great every time. The kids love the crunch rolls and the gyozas, and whatever they do to their seasoned edamame is an absolute must try, it's addictive. The space itself is a little tight, but honestly that's part of the charm. It feels lively, cozy, and like a spot people actually want to be at, not some big empty restaurant. It adds to the overall experience. Service is good overall. On busy weekends or nights when they're slammed, they might not come by as often, but the staff is always friendly, hustling, and doing their best to keep everything moving. Have been there on another occasion and thought it was okay, my wife and I decided to give one more try on Friday 5/22 and definitely it will be my last time. Arrived about 8:50 and was told a 30 minute wait. By the time we got a table it was 9:48, and as they are taking us to our table she informs us that last call is 10:20 (giving us only 30 minutes to place our order and eat), ordered the 1st round and took 10 minutes to get which was a seaweed salad, sashimi salad, jalapeño poppers Which looked more like Serrano peppers and not good at all, and baked mussels which tasted rubbery, now we are rushing as we only have 10 minutes to place the last order before the last call. The rolls are small and fall apart easily grabbing them with your chop sticks, everything looked like it was hurried and the taste of the food was average at best, the service was okay.
