Been meaning to try Aikan Sushi for awhile. Was visiting my friend and they wanted to come here for dinner, so it worked out! The menu here is super extensive and broken down by regular and premium. Honestly, there really is no need to get the premium menu because there are so many options on the regular menu. What I really cared about was the quality of the nigiri since I have been to many AYCE sushi places where the fish quality was questionable at best. Pretty good here, much fresher than I was expecting and very plentiful cuts! Rest of the menu is solid, can't go wrong with anything on here honestly. Staff were great here. Our server was extremely friendly! Food came out super quick, which is no small feat given how much we ordered. They really have it down to a science here. I wasn't expecting much, but Aikan definitely beat the expectations I had for it. I'm not much of an AYCE guy anymore, but I would definitely come back here.

One star off for this sad and sorry oyster - I would not serve this

Premium AYCE prices went up to $54.99. We decided to splurge a little since we haven't had sushi in a while. We ATE too much! And it was really delicious and fresh! We usually do not get any rolls filled with rice, so we focus on the fish. One of the highlights of our AYCE sushi was the salmon poke on crispy rice and Amaebi. So good! I would have given 5 stars but honestly, the oyster was pathetic. I would definitely not serve that to a Premium customer. That wasn't a good move at all. Other than the sorry oyster, everything else was great. Next time you are looking to eat too much, try this AYCE place!

Food was fantastic. The quality of the fish was very high for an all you can eat. I have eaten at a variety of AYCE style restaurants that serve sushi and this was up to par with other high quality options. There were a variety or rolls, nigiri, and a large selection of appetizers. Everything tasted fresh and was a good experience. Many rolls are offered in 4 pieces which can give you more options to try a larger variety of rolls! Service was fantastic. This is a solid option for all you can eat sushi, even outside of Long Beach area. It was worth the drive from Orange County.

As far as quality goes this place was pretty good, especially for AYCE. The sushi was fresh, the service was relatively quick, and the staff were really nice. It's the perfect spot for a casual date night or dinner with friends. We tried a variety of sushi options including the dynamite, salmon pleasure roll, yellow tail, spicy tuna crispy rice, AIKAN special roll, rainbow roll, lion king roll, skinny salmon roll, and Long Beach roll. My favorites were the salmon pleasure and lion king rolls but honestly everything was delicious! I like that they bring them out in half orders so you can order a variety of options, eat at a good pace, and not waste because they do charge a fee if you order food and don't eat it. Be prepared for a wait since the restaurant can be packed on the weekend. Highly recommend

The sushi overall was just okay nothing that really stood out. The tuna in particular wasn't great and had a bit of an off taste which was disappointing. That said, upgrading to the premium menu was definitely worth it since it gives you more variety and better options to choose from. The mussels and appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal they were flavorful and well prepared. Service was decent and the experience was fine overall, but I wouldn't come here specifically for the sushi.

Coming to Aikan was like rediscovering an oldie but goodie. I have been to the Artesia location a few times back in 2022 post-Covid times, and it was my first time at LB location tonight. The parking was more ample and the restaurant seemed bigger too. The ambiance, music, service and food were five stars all around. The only thing to note was that they didn't bring out some orders - one piece of mackerel and an order of mussels- but it was nothing detrimental to the overall experience. The salmon was the freshest I've tried at an ayce sushi spot, and the miso soup was also pretty darn perfect. Highlights: yuzu salmon nigiri, crispy rice tuna, yellowtail, unagi roll, Dynamite. Will definitely be back in the near future!

The best AYCE sushi! This place serves quality fish including their steak. Every item we got did not disappoint. Service was also great.

Came back here with my friend and we realized it changed a bit :( the sashimi was cut so thin and tiny.. so disappointing! Service was slower too. Some of the rolls we got were sloppy with the presentation so we were disappointed! Maybe they were just too busy on a Saturday night.

We KILT IT !

WE ARE COMING BACK. We were looking for a new AYCE sushi spot. We just moved to Long Beach from the South Bay. Everything was excellent. Great service ! Dylon was awesome. He didn't skip a beat.

Goodness overload!

Aikan is an absolute favorite sushi place for my husband and I. We have been to few locations and it never disappoints. We have a few favorite dishes. Salmon sashimi is an absolute favorite sashimi salad, miso soup, salmon pleasure is a must have rainbow, tiger rolls. You should definitely try the muscles. They're amazing everything here is beyond beyond amazing. I highly recommend recommended to everyone.

Came here on a Saturday around 1pm. Fairly busy but got seated right away. Service was great they were checking in on us and explained the menu well. They have a all you can eat option. Ordered the miso soup it was good and hot. Ordered the Baked Alaskan roll it was good salmon was seared well. Crunch roll was good wish it was a bit more crunchy. Spicy tuna crunch roll which was actually spicy. All rolls were a good amount. All in all would come again on the pricier side but everything tasted fresh.

Oh yeah!

Why did it take me so long to check this place out! I used to work at Long Beach airport and would pass this place on the daily but never stopped in and now I regret not checking it out sooner. This place is incredible! The service was great. Walked in and was immediately greeted and seated. I decided to come in at the start of dinner time and choose the all you can eat deal. Yes they have an ALL YIU CAN EAT! They offer it for lunch and dinenr

What time is lunch from to get the lunch prices? It's no where on the website.

it's from 11:30 to 3pm from Mon-Fri.

Do they have rice paper for the sushi rolls ? I don't like the seaweed unfortunately

I'm not sure but you can probably call them and ask. I love seaweed !!

Do they close on Veteran's day?

they are open

Does Premium option includes Sashimi AYCE? I don't like eating rice.

Yes! We ordered a lot of it!

Hi, what is the difference between the regular and premium all you can eat? is premium the whole menu?

Yep the premium one has four or five extra seafood items. But I think there was a limit to order the select few premium items

All you can eat?

Yes. $32 lunch, $38 lunch premium, dinner $39, $45 dinner premium. Higher price point, but the quality of fish was good and rice / fish ratio was better than fair.

Do they take reservations?

Hello Thank you for your interested Unfortunately, we do not accept any reservations…

What is the hour of lunch menu price?

Hello Thank you for your interest Our Lunch starts from 11:30am-3pm weekdays…

Is there seating for a group of 8?

Yes

Do they take reservations?

They have waitlist from Yelp. But I'm sure they take reservations if you have a big party.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

What I really appreciate is that sometimes it's even kid-friendly, which makes it a great option if you're not just going out solo or with friends. I've been coming around since back when it was Iguana Kelly's, and it's been cool to see how the place has evolved while still keeping that local, neighborhood feel. The location is super easy to find, right next to a donut shop and a mechanic, and across the street you've got a 7-Eleven, Subway, and a few other small spots. Plus, Tommy's Burgers and an Arco are right nearby, so everything you might need is within reach. I tried both the cucumber mixed drink and the mango mixed drink, both were really good, but I personally preferred the cucumber one. It's less sweet and way more refreshing, especially if you're not into overly sugary drinks. We also had a BBQ chicken pizza that they cook in a fire oven (I think it's called a wood-fired pizza), and it was really good, definitely worth trying if you go. Service was good During the outdoor event, they had things set up really well, including a sign that read "21 and over beyond this point only," which helped keep things organized. They also had jumpers outside for the little ones to enjoy, along with tables and chairs so everyone could hang out comfortably. Parking can be a bit tight in their lot, but there's always street parking if you take a minute to read the signs. Overall, it's a great hangout spot with a welcoming atmosphere and something happening more often than not. Definitely worth checking out.

Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience.
