Aipap Kitchen *April 19th, 2026 *12pm- Sunday *2 Stars Environment: *Indoor Parking *Crowded Parking Lot *Self Service and Ordering Food/Drink: *Lanzhou Hot Chicken Sandwich *Youngchang Rd Night Market Beef Chow Mein (non-spicy) *Lanzhou Potato Noodles I saw how popular this place was on yelp so decided to try this place with so friends. The ordering process is fully self-service through your phone, and you also have to grab your own utensils and water. The setup was easy enough, but the space was crowded and parking was a bit hectic. The food itself was okay, but not something I'd order again. The Lanzhou Hot Chicken Sandwich lacked flavor and the bread was pretty dry. The Lanzhou Potato Noodles seemed to be one of their more popular dishes, but in my opinion, it wasn't especially memorable and didn't taste all that different from regular noodles. I also tried to use the restroom, and although there were two stalls, only one was functional because the other door was broken and off the hinge. I ended up not using it and just left. Overall, I'm glad I tried it once, but probably wouldn't come back.

What a fantastic concept being a no tip establishment. Prices are good! Order from the QR code on the table. Self-serve water, utensils, condiments and to-go containers. The Lanzhou Lamb Burger was really good and was packed with meat. Highly recommend that dish. As far as the Lanzhou potato noodle, that wasn't for me. The noodle texture is great but the sauce was like two cups of oil that didn't have much depth of flavor except salt. It looked spicy but wasn't at all. It looked like a soup but it was literally all oil. I love oily foods such as Sichuan cuisine but this was just too much oil that I resorted to just eating the noodle while all the minced meat and other ingredients got lost in the pool of fat. Luckily I did order the just lamb soup so that helped balance it out.

First time trying Chinese Halal food at Aipapa Kitchen and it was quite delicious. I ordered the lamb skewers, shredded potatoes and beef chow mein. My bf tried this place before but he said the lamb skewers are bomb and doesn't taste gamey. I personally don't like lamb because of the taste but after trying the skewers, I was a fan and ate half of the order. The lamb skewers were seasoned and cooked so well, there was no gamey taste to it. The chow mein was very flavorful and it was not your average chow mein. It was rich in flavors and had a hint of coolness in it. The shredded potatoes was a nice touch to balance all the flavors. The milk tea is very creamy and unique. I also ordered the tea to try out and it was very soothing and feels refreshing after eating the food. The environment reminded me of a street night market where it was self service. To order the food, you must order through a QR code and all the cups/utensils are in the middle where you go grab yourself. Also no tips are needed. Aipapa also hosts magic nights too where you can buy the tickets on the QR code. The environment is a great place to hang out with friends or watch one of their shows that they offered. They also have live music there too. For parking, there wasn't an issue because it was a shared lot and there was a lot of spaces. I would definitely be coming back next time and ordered myself an order of my own lamb skewers.

Great service. Great ambiance. Good food. It's a great spot to get a meal with friends and catchup. Owner also has cute pictures of his dog on the wall. We got the lamb skewers, the lamb burger, the potato noodle, and the beef rice bowl. All of the dishes were good and had a nice balance of flavor. Even though this isn't my favorite style of chinese cuisine, I definitely enjoyed the food here!

Cool new place that you order from a QR code at the table and they bring it to you Staff is friendly! Looks like they have some activities and music on certain days and nights Haven't been to a place like this before They have self serve water and utensils So no tip needed! Northwest China flavors, but make it halal Found this gem in Rowland Heights and everything is made fresh, by hand, with premium ingredients. We went ALL in: Heineken 0 crispy fried zucchini + sweet potato fries creamy potato salad lamb noodles w/ egg (the star fr) shrimp chow mein spicy beef sandwich and a whole lamb leg because why not ‍ Rich flavors, bold spices, and that homemade touch in every bite. Had a really nice time at this place. Hands-down one of the best services for a self service & non-tip place! I was amazed by the warmth and welcoming Vibe from the owner and all the staff inside the restaurant, even the chef! Food was ordered via app. This was probably the only place that actually looked at the order note and followed the note instruction. Most of the places that uses app orders never follow instructions from the note. The food flavor is on the heavier side. Not really what I expected but it's not bad. The service made up for what I felt the food lacked. This place is nicely decorated and clean. Highly recommend everyone to check out. They have live band and concerts! And they ended the visit with an offer to have your picture taken so your Polaroid can be posted on their wall. Very nice touch.

Non existent service, order from QR code. If you need something track down an employee that will not look happy to help. Cold noodle came out as soon as I sent my order. It's premade and the cucumbers were julienned hours ago. Limp and bruised Lamb sandwich was chewy, bread tasted store bought. Soup came out hot and was the best thing I ordered. It had a slight bitter after taste that made me not finish it.

Aipapa seems like a good spot to me. I came during off hours so there weren't too many other customers. The vibe still seemed good. I liked the food and left satisfied. FOOD Potato wide noodles - I like these noodles. They have a good texture that is enjoyable. You have to be careful when you eat these noodles or else you'll splash yourself with the sauce. The noodles are a good (shorter) length though so this isn't as big of an issue. You can choose the spice level. Lamb burger - I think this looks good. I was a little surprised that most of the lamb doesn't actually fit in the bread. It's a good thing though. After eating the burger, you still have lamb to eat. DRINK The have a soda fountain and offer soda with self serve refills for $3 SERVICE You scan the code on your table and then place your order on your phone. They bring you your food and then you just pay at the register when you leave. You can take napkins and utensils from the table with the soda machine. It's limited service but everyone here seems nice and available to help if you need it. INSIDE They have several TVs inside so I think this would be a good option on sports days. PARKING Large, shared lot (free).

This was our first time visiting Aipapa, and I had heard great things about it for a while. The restaurant is located inside Great China Plaza, in the spot where the former Xinjiang restaurant used to be. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a lively, energetic atmosphere that instantly set the mood. The three of us ordered the lamb vermicelli soup, stir-fried shredded potatoes, malatang, yogurt, and lamb skewers. The lamb soup was incredibly authentic--rich yet clear, and the tender boiled lamb dipped in spices was deeply satisfying. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the potatoes and yogurt. The lamb skewers had a bit too much seasoning for our taste, but overall we were all very pleased with the meal. We're already planning to come back on a weekend to enjoy the live band performances. The owner is an artist, and it's rare to find someone who combines artistic talent with such impressive cooking skills. The service was attentive and thoughtful throughout our visit. Definitely a place worth returning to.

Very fresh lamb soup, we got the lamb soup with mi fen (clear rice noodles). The lamb burger is also great but the flavor is quite strong and covers up the soup, so have the soup first!

You need to come here and get the potato noodles and lamb pocket. Like wow, game over best thing I've eaten all week. The noodles were bouncy and savory with pickles and peanuts and spice. The lamb pocket was STUFFED with fatty seasoned lamb and the bread was soft. read more

I accidentally found this new restaurant and tried it, the music and food are amazing, and I got surprised that they don't charge any service fee or tip and the service is still good, the servers are so kind and helpful, always willing to help you out, and the food is also great, and the food size is huge, I ordered 2 fried noodles and couldn't even finish it highly recommend!!! read more

Delicious, I didn't know what to expect going in. I tried the pickled cucumbers, the Lanzhou potato noodles and Lamb flatbread. The potato noodles are a must try, so unique texture of noodles. Lamb flatbread has tender lamb. Thought it was interesting why they use paper and plastic plates and learned from one of the servers that they used to be a sidewalk stand. So cool. Will come here again to try some more dishes. read more

Okay I'm sold. The lamb flatbread was so good, they put a heaping amount of lamb inside and the potato noodles were so chewy. The service was friendly. Sidenote* if you want the flatbread cut in half let them know before hand so you can save them a trip. There was live music and honestly even though it's a small shop you can tell this place is homely. The menu was super cute and the home made yogurt was super good too. Found this spot on Yelp randomly and glad I did. Small menu which is a good sign, and the lamb was flavorful with a slight mala spice. The spice is customizable as well down to no or mild so no worries. Highly recommend the sandwich and the lamb soup. Service was very kind and polite. Owner is a great musician and played some live sax in the evening. Fun ambiance with music. read more

Discovered this place when they were street vendors on Batson. Was sad to know they were no longer selling there but for good reasons! They opened up a restaurant in Hacienda Heights! The food is just as delicious as the Batson location. I love ordering the potato noodles, lamb sandwich, lamb soup and cucumbers. The servers are always nice and welcoming. I also love how the owner will have people play live music or he himself will play. I definitely recommend to try this place at least ONCE if you live in the area. Wish this place the best and hope it's here to stay forever. read more

Such a cozy little spot -- the vibe is mellow, the service is super warm, and while the menu's still small, everything we had was so good. We happened to catch a live band playing that night, which made the whole experience even more special. Can't wait to see what new dishes they add next. Got the crispy cucumbers and they tasted fresh and crispy just like it says. Yum. Got some lamb soup - delicious. Also got the lamb with flatbread. Lamb was seasoned just right. Service was excellent and we talked to all 3 guys that were working there at the time. Waiter was very helpful and all 3 guys were very kind and helpful. Nice gentlemen read more

Finally got to dine in at their new place! I've had their street food before and have been waiting so long to try more of their dishes. The food was great and priced fairly. I mentioned that I had a cough and couldn't eat spicy food--the waiter was so kind and even brought me a cough drop ! I was really touched. They even returned my cash tip, saying they just appreciate the support for their business. Such a relaxed and friendly dining environment with a cozy ambiance. I also love that they stay open late on Sundays--it's perfect since I commute from east LA. Highly recommend! read more

Very yummy and kind people here These hard working people work here cooking amazing meals for customers so come and try the food out! If I could give this place 6 stars I would, this restaurant was so good that this is the first time I am writing a review. The food was SOOOO good and authentic as well. The best lamb soup I've had in the states. The place was maintained super clean as well I was honestly shocked, bathroom included. Service hands down won me over, Ben was really patient and kind, he took his time to introduce the specialty dishes and whatnot to us. I believe the owner, the man with glasses was really observant as well along with the other younger server who was running around making sure everyone had their waters and the tables were set. This place is phenomenal definitely a must visit, but they are relocating so I can't wait to visit their new Rowland Heights location. read more

Aipapa Hot Burger is not a burger joint - it's a Lanzhou style Chinese restaurant. The name refers to one of its signature dishes - a hot lamb sandwich. This is the new location. They used to be in Hacienda Heights under the name Aipapa Kitchen. I cannot express enough how good the food is. Everything is made fresh from original recipes. The owner is from Lanzhou and he's recreating the food his mom cooked when he was growing up. They specialize in lamb dishes (namely the above mentioned sandwich and also a pho style lamb soup with very thinly sliced meat in a delicious broth), but also have chicken and beef dishes. The hot pot is to die for - rich and spicy with delicately balanced flavors. Their Aipapa frozen yogurt with goji berries is a very nice dessert option. Also, they serve the best traditional Chinese hot tea I've ever had. The space is beautiful, prices affordable and the staff are super nice. I was there for lunch, but want to go back for dinner soon. I hear they have often have live music at night. Five stars. read more

The cumin burger is to die for. Over abundance of lamb falling off the bun. Bonus was the owner playing live jazz music on his saxophone. Been there twice this past week. I remember when he started off as a street vendor now he has his own place. AWESOME!!! read more

One of the best lamb soup I've had! The lamb fried rice is a much try as well, it's so flavorful yet it doesn't have a lamb stink. I can tell a lot of effort is put into the food! The potatoes are very thin yet crunchy, I loved the texture and the taste. read more

Food truck turned restaurant, that should tell you how popular the food is already. I got the normal spiciness (medium), and the broth was a perfect balance between numbness (mala) and spiciness. The noodles were incredibly nice and springy. Their prices are probably the best I've seen in a while. I paid around 13 for a decently sized bowl of noodles and a drink. Went there 3 times and tried all the items on the menu, everything tastes great! Lamb flatbread is a must try for meat lover! Lamb is tender & juicy and the stew goes perfectly with the bread, light but flavorful. Definitely an enjoyable meal in a cold day. read more

I stopped by today and got two grilled lamb sandwiches for just $26. The portions were incredibly generous--my husband and I couldn't even finish them! The lamb was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and the bread was soft with just the right amount of crispness. Everything was so flavorful and satisfying. Definitely worth every penny! Why didn't the hostess let us know when we arrived? For $85 a person, I would have gone somewhere else and come back another time to enjoy myself, not feel rushed and made to feel like I was eating desserts and side items that had been out all day. We didn't get to try the Wagyu burgers since there weren't any. Just empty trays. Four or five pieces of dessert to choose from. Not four or five types, just five left. I guess if you go later, they do not put any additional food out. Pretty disappointing, especially with the high cost. Our server, Kenzie, was very friendly and definitely made our night better. The restaurant has a very cool vibe and plays music loud, but not to where it's annoying. I recommend it; just go early.

This place markets itself as Chinese "self-serve hot pot", also known as Mala Tang. The food…read more served here IS NOT that. The "Signature Mala Broth", which is supposed to be the classic Mala tang broth served in real Chinese restaurants, tastes absolutely nothing like it's supposed to. Mala means numbing (Ma) spicy (La). The numbing is caused by the inclusion of Sichuan Peppercorn, and the spicy is a result of chilli peppers. Unfortunately this soup is neither numbing nor spicy, and it's also missing many of the signature other traditional flavors that are supposed to make up the broth, such as star anise. Ultimately, it tastes like little more than tomato broth with chilli flakes thrown in. On the subject of spice, these types of Chinese restaurants traditionally offer four spice levels: mild, medium, spicy, and extremely spicy, which Big Way refers to as "Big Way Spicy", which is what I ordered. This level of spicy is supposed to be so uncomfortable that you can't eat more than a bite every few minutes. Again, this is not that. It's so mild you couldn't convince me it was even meant to be spicy. I've eaten here three times now, once at grand opening, and twice since, so I've given multiple opportunities to improve. If you think Panda Express when you think Chinese food, maybe you'll like this place. If you expect real Chinese flavors there are many better local options. Food: one star. It only gets a second star because it's clean, service is average, ambience is like a cafeteria.

The meat was incredibly tender -- you could easily pull it apart with a fork -- and there was zero gamey taste. The dipping sauce was a great complement, enhancing the flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the lamb. Came in with my friend, was told to wait by the host for a table. When a different group came in after us, he told them to join the waitlist on the machine near the front. He told us to do the same after they joined the waitlist. That felt weird already. After joining the waitlist, we got a text after that our table was ready. I found this place after a long day of work. It definitely surprised me! It's authentic street food. It has good food, good vibe, and good music. They have a pop-up live house. Make my day! You must try the beef or lamb sandwich, wide potato noodles, and Spicy Potato. And don't forget to order Yogurt for dessert. highly recommended. read more

Best HALAL restaurant ever! Love the lamb so much. The spicy pot tastes so good. The tea also made me feel not so heavy after all the carb eaten. The owner even knows playing instrument. Everything is self-served so tip is not required. Super fun dining experience. read more
