We had no idea when it was last serviced or if it had ever been serviced at all. Henry gave us a very fair and competitive price for a tune up. Upon Henry's arrival, he was friendly and professional. He opened the furnace and showed us the burner. He explained it was in great condition considering the age of the unit and it didn't need servicing; although, he did clean up around a few areas around the burner. The blower motor was slightly wobbly, and once again, he explained it was still in good shape considering its age. He proceeded to the back patio where the condenser was located. He noted the unit was very old and that particular Freon is no longer available for servicing; however, he stated the unit did not need to be replaced just yet as long as it's blowing cold. Henry indicated despite our units being way past their anticipated life expectancy, they were clean and blowing hot & cold just fine. Therefore, no servicing was recommended and he did not charge us anything. We are impressed not only by Henry's friendliness and professionalism, but also by his transparency and integrity. Many other companies would have hopped on the opportunity to upsell the service or even sway us to replace our system right away, but Henry gave us peace of mind to give us time and to save up for an inevitable replacement in the future with Therma Tech. I figured I'd give them a…read moretry for installing an adding a mini split addition to supplement hot/cold spots in my kitchen. Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys. They will push for the highest cost system and will ghost you if you appear to be knowledgeable enough to call them out on it.

After getting quotes from five vendors, I chose Aircare as they did the proper best practices…read moreassessment to size the heat pump that we bought to replace the conventional 20 yr old Lennox Heating and Cooling HVAC System) in our home. It's important that it's sized properly so its running most efficiently and Aircare was the only one that did the work that was recommended to accomplish this task. Roberto, the salesperson used his iPad to LIDAR map rooms to measure the cubic space for the estimate. So we moved forward with a Bryant three ton slim preferred series unit for our home at approximately 2000 square feet. The Mediterranean climate in Silicon Valley is a great match for a modern heat pump, and it frees us from a gas usage, which is increasingly expensive . The install terminating gas for heat qualifies for a $1500 rebate plus a $2000 tax credit. Of note Roberto spent almost 2 hours on site answering all my questions and doing the estimation, and linked me up with a service called HomeIntel, which works with PGE to optimize your energy usage in your home by analyzing your patterns looking at your account. It was quite helpful and free. In all this process really helped seal the deal in my eyes. Scheduling was easy for the installation, which started on time and took over two days. It's quite a bit of work to remove the old system and piping to then install brand new properly. It's very key to replace the refrigerant lines as the refrigerant is different than the old system and if the two get mixed in the lines, even if they've been so-called purged, it can contaminate and destroy the new system, so it's highly recommended that you always replace the refrigerant lines with this type of installation. Installer techs Kintroy and Dennis were meticulous, system experts, and very friendly. They worked hard and did a fantastic job getting the system installed over two days which included redoing the air intake ducts and enlarging one of the ceiling intakes. System came with a Bryant branded Ecobee thermostat which we had to have swapped out because the first one had a defect, second one is fine. Inspections - Another reason I chose Aircare is that they handled the entire city permit process for me other than I needed to be present for the inspector. The other vendors were not willing to deal with the full permit and rectify issues at their full cost if issues were found by the inspectors. When you spend the kind of money that you have to on a system like this, which is north of $15,000, I expect that the contractor will handle the permit. An installation like this requires two inspections, one feeds into the other. The first is required to drive the rebates and measures if the system is sealed, and is operating with proper airflow capacity. The second is the standard installation city safety and code based inspection. Passed the first with no issues, and the inspection with the city went quickly with no problems because the Aircare team did the job properly. The city inspector checked key items and commented that Aircare had really done a good job, that others that he has seen don't. I waited to do this review until we ran the system for a bit, so now it's been about two months and we are so satisfied. This is the first time in the 10 year ownership of this house where we truly have a set and forget efficient system that does not have to work very hard to keep the house heated or cooled. I highly recommend a heat pump system, especially if you have a solar system. Some installers will claim that you need to have the solar system in order for the heat pump to pay off because the heat pump uses only electricity, doesn't use gas at all, and can use electricity at a higher rate than the previous type of system. My experience is if the unit is sized correctly and you have good attic insulation, the system does not have to run very long or very hard to manage the temperature in the home. It operates so quietly both inside and outside that you forget you have an HVAC system compared to what we used to experience which was more like a jet engine, When combined with a smart thermostat, which you can inform about your type of PG&E plan it intelligently minimizes impact based on the rate you pay. If you happen to have solar like us, it is even a better. Bottom line need more vendors like Aircare. Thank you!
