Pretty good for a new restaurant. We had their Vietnamese cubed beef and their grilled pork. (Next table had their hot pot which looked and smelled wonderful!) Both the dishes we had were very tasty... The beef was cooked very well, tender, and I could taste the heat from the wok...(big difference between a flaming hot will and one that is just "wimpish hot".. food comes out different). The grilled pork was nicely done too, and I liked their rice..fluffy and freshly cooked. One thing to note is they use a lot of fish sauce, as they should in this genre of cooking. For one not a fan of fish sauce, it's not their cooking is bad.. just not used to the taste! Overall, good food, friendly service, odd decor. Clearly wasted my time stoping here for my lunch break. Yelp said they open at 10am and was here at 10:07 and doors are locked "Open" sign is off, called and they don't pick up. I guess they open when they feel like it. read more

Went last night. Food presentation was excellent, five stars. Food quality good, 4 stars. My only complaint was the ambience needs some love. They need to lower the lights and add some not so expensive changes like put a divider down the middle to create more privacy so you don't feel like you're eating at a mess hall. They don't need to spend a lot of money to improve the ambience. Maybe they should hire a designer to help them. The prices are very reasonable and we'll definitely be back. read more

We went here because we heard about the Vietnamese egg coffee. It was Sunday afternoon and there were only 3 other parties here besides us. We ordered our food, 1 appetizer, 1 rice with pork chops, 1 vermicelli with grilled pork, and 3 skewers. For drinks we got a peach tea, a coconut slush, and 2 Vietnamese egg coffee. We waited for 15 minutes and the peach tea and the coconut drink came out. Then another 15 minutes until one of the coffee and the appetizer came out, no sign of the main dishes and the 2nd coffee. I decided to go and check with the waiter to make sure, and they told me they were preparing the dishes. I waited another 10 minutes to check again, and the cashier told me they forgot to put in the order for the 2nd coffee, I said it was okay and don't worry about it then went back to my table. We finally got the rest of our food about 10 minutes later. Total of 50 minutes wait time for the food and a missing coffee that they didn't even care to hurry to make or try to compensate. Unacceptable. Food was also very pricy for the quality. The food didn't even taste fresh, it was more like they pre made it and threw it in the microwave, which is confusing because it took forever to come out. TLDR: Long wait for mediocre food. Restaurant was not even busy and waiter did not seem to care about the experience that the customer was having. read more

i wish i could give a rating of 0 but here we are. my party of 11 arrived around 1 pm with high hopes and optimism as the restaurant was having their grand opening. they did not answer the phone when we called ahead of time. we waited 10 minutes for them to set up the table. we ordered our food which was 2 phos, 2 pork plates, 3 chicken wing appetizers, 2 spring rolls, and 4 crispy noodle plates and 1 vermicelli. the Vietnamese coffee was good, but overpriced at $4.50 for half a cup. it is currently 2:35pm and we only have gotten a little more than half of our order. (we got the appetizers AFTER we got 3 of our dishes). THE FOOD: the pork plate was not hot and was not steaming, it was mildly warm as if it was sitting. the fish sauce wings barely had any flavor and just tasted like chicken w some salt. the crispy noodles were warm and still pretty good, NOT worth the wait though. THE SERVICE: smaller parties received their food before we even got many of our plates. the staff continuously apologize for the slow service and refill our waters. **they technically close at 2pm but we are still here, barely receiving our meals. read more

The restaurant just opened. At this time they are not taking credit cards. This is basically a Vietnamese restaurant, with a selection of foods from the rest of Asia. We really enjoyed our dinner. I was hoping the food wood be good since it's close to my home.... however that was not the case this place is just not very good. I ordered the following: Thai fried rice, spring rolls, beef/rice plate. None of the food I ordered compared to the traditional Vietnamese food I've enjoyed at other places that are right here in our area. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING to AK Kitchen. This restaurant has a lot of Vietnamese snacks and street food. I went there with my husband for lunch and we ordered baby clam, fried tofu and congee. They have the best baby clam I ever tried in San Jose. All waiters and waitress are so friendly and nice. Will def come back to try other dishes on their menu. read more

Small business in deep evergreen. My family was feeling really hungry today and since we were low on gas we decided to check this place out. The worker was very kind and i loved the food. Anyways, My friends and I arrived at this place for dinner. We ordered and got our food in 5 minutes time, so the service was optimal and fast. Easy parking. Nice big restaurant. The tables are not cramped together. We enjoyed our food as it seemed like home cooked Vietnamese food. Good spicy flavors cooked up fresh. You could see the chopped garlic and diced up ginger and green onions. I had a spice tofu dish that was tasty. My partner ordered the vegetarian pho and was pleased with the amount of veggies in the soup. We ordered garlic noodles as well which were tasty as well. The food was good and servers were attentive, but they have some improvements to make towards getting food out in a timely manner. We went for lunch on a Friday and waited 30 minutes for our appetizer to come out. The spring rolls were not just overdone, but black and burnt on the ends. I sent them back, and at this point we were about to be running late with two entrees yet to appear. I asked for the check and for the food to be packed up to go, and this request was accommodated with apologies for how long the food to take out. I'm giving 4 stars because the food (round 2 spring rolls, crab fried rice, crab vermicelli) was tasty and I really hope AK Kitchen stays open! Went to AK Kitchen for the first time tonight. We ordered a bowl of Thai style clams as a starter. It was really good, and had some heat with the dipping sauce they serve with it. My husband had Vietnamese style beef cubes with rice and I had the chicken pho. Both of us really liked our dinners. I have to eat pho at least twice a month, because it's my favorite. I always went to Pho Y #1 on Capitol at Silver Creek. Now I don't need to drive as far. Sure hope this place succeeds. The place is super clean, and the service is good, too. "Crawfish fried rice" is more like 'fried rice toped with crawfish!' I'm a big seafood and fried rice lover and figured these 2 items would be perfect together BUT wow I not what I expected. The fried rice was plain and it tasted like they boiled the Crawfish separately instead of truly you know- cooking it? The entree had that fishy seafood smell but barely the taste lol. For what it's worth, my son said his Yangzhou Fried Rice was good but I didn't get to try it. read more
