Rotisserie chicken sandwich (add portobello mushroom)

Called ahead to pick up but ended up eating there. Staff were friendly, the interior is cute, a little small but was relaxing. We ordered a rotisserie chicken sandwich combo, pork tonkatsu sandwich, tuna melt, beef empanada, and cheese empanada. They also gave us a bonus fruit tart on the house! The food was tasty, the service was great! Parking was right outside. It's in a warehouse type of area but wasn't hard to find. Will definitely try again!

They had a special day for Anaheim Feed 80th celebration. Vera was very awesome explaining the items they had. Orders the Ricotta and Spinach Empanada. So delicious. Nice delicate crust. And then afterwards I ordered a chocolate cake also very moist and delicious. Owners were very kind! And the shop itself was very calming with some outdoor seating too. Highly recommend.

Ake'Larry may not have the best curb appeal but the hospitality of the staff and all of the special touches inside totally make up for it! The store front is small and so unassuming that it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. All of that changes once you step thru the door. While the dining area is small, Larry went out of his way to make sure your dining experience is special. Comprised mostly of 2 person tables, each table has a small vase of fresh flowers and an actual wick burning candle. Although orders are placed at the counter, once your order has been prepared it's delivered to your table. Before you go to choose your table you're given a complimentary pastry sample to whet your appetite. Very nice touch and a delicious little bonus! Today I tried their portobello mushroom sandwich (added chicken) and a tres quesos empanada to eat there. For later I took a chicken curry empanada and ricotta and spinach empanada to go. The sandwich is served on homemade focaccia which is very fluffy and tasty. Some uncommon but very nice surprises were the addition of sprouts and pickled radishes ~ they added that little extra boost to the whole sandwich that bumped it up to something more special. Larry's twist on the empanadas is delicious! Using puff pastry instead of the typical empanada dough was a very nice switch that made them very flaky and buttery. All of them were great, but my absolute favorite was the chicken curry. The flavor was so good, it is crave-worthy! The ricotta spinach came in as a very close second. Also, the dipping sauce was not the usual chimichurri sauce, but rather more of a mayo-based sauce. Whatever it's made of, it went beautifully with the puff pastry empanadas! Go check them out ~ you'll be happy you did!

We are visiting from San Jose. I somehow found Ake'Larry and saw all the amazing reviews - told my husband we had to try it. It sure did not disappoint! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. You can tell everything is made with care. The focaccia so light, pasta very chewy. Service very friendly. Definitely want to go back.

Found this place with great review while I was in the neighborhood and looking for lunch. What a great find! Classic definition of hidden gem. Located in a weird small strip of business offices across from the Anaheim trash service. Don't be discouraged by the trash smell outside and sketchy looking front door, the food is worth it! The sandwich is EXCELLENT. The focaccia bread is outrageously good, full of flavor with crispy texture, the pickled radish really makes the flavor pops more and balance out the oil in the bread. So far, I've tried the pork chop and Portobello mushroom sandwiches, both are great. Also tried the homemade fettuccine pasta, which is also excellent, but I would say sandwich is certainly better. Very tiny place, six small tables, can probably only fit up to 12 people max. Will need to come back and try their weekly special. Friendly staff. Chef Larry also comes out to chat with customer as well. Just heard today that they are opening up a new place closer to Anaheim old town, taking over the previous Rolling Sushi Café place, but will still keep this place open.

This place maybe a hole in the wall but don't let its appearance fool you. They serve gourmet near fine dining quality dishes including pastas, salmon, and sandwiches. Bread is baked in the restaurant and pastas are all made in house as well. The green curry short rib was one of our favorites as well as the empanadas. Highly recommended if you are in the area and will definitely return!

It was our first time visiting Ake' Larry's. We ordered the mushroom sandwich with chicken & a cheese empanada. Both were good. I took a Tres Leche home with me and it was also very good. The restaurant is very small - only a few tables and the menu is limited. The owners are Kind and friendly

This place is absolutely beautiful! From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and it really makes you want to stay for hours. The food was a perfect 10/10 everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The service was just as wonderful! so kind, attentive, and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. The only thing I wish is that they stayed open later, because it's such a lovely spot that you just don't want to leave. I would love to visit in the evenings and enjoy it even more. Still, I can't wait to come back soon and keep trying more dishes. Truly a gem that I'm so happy I found!

Ake'Larry is located in a small building in a bit of an industrial area in Placentia. They are open pretty early in the morning and close in the early afternoon, which makes this spot great for a quick breakfast of pastries and lunch. I usually call in my orders because during the lunch hour, it gets busy. Vi works the counter and the phones, but does so with finesse and warmth. I cannot stress enough how flavorful and delicious everything is here! They make everything from scratch, and they make everything to order. I almost always order their sandwich combos, especially their rotisserie chicken sando with portobello mushroom added in (texture bomb!!!), and grab a bag of chips and an aranciata rossa sparkling water. Their focaccia is the perfect foundation for their sandwiches, and the amount of fillings is substantial. They have a small chef's special menu that features unique dishes, like the green curry short ribs. I believe this menu is dine-in only, so it's highly recommended to call ahead of time so that it's ready for you to sit and eat when you get there. The short ribs were so tender and melted in my mouth. The crispy potatoes that came with it had amazing texture as well. They also give little freebies sometimes like their truffles and little almond pastry bites with your meal. Definitely a must-go spot when you're looking for a cozy hole in the wall for amazing lunch fare, fresh pasta, and pastries!

This place is an absolute "hidden gem"! It is tucked in with some other businesses, but you will easily figure out which door is the correct one to the restaurant. Larry is very personable and interesting. He is a pastry chef and makes everything. His focaccia is handmade by him and is used in his sandwiches. We ordered the Turkey, Portobello Mushroom, and Pastrami sandwiches. All were fantastic! He did let us know that the pastrami may be different than what we may have had in the fact that the meat is not piled high like some delis. He keeps his fillings at the right ratio so it works well with the delicious focaccia. While we were waiting for our dine in order he came out to chat with my mom and me. What a genuinely nice friendly person! There are a few small tables if you want to eat your food there. We were the only ones at the time, but there were many pick-ups and to go orders while we were there. We enjoyed our lunch and shared bites of each other's sandwich. My mom said she was going to take my vegetarian aunt here for the portobello sandwich. I personally enjoyed the turkey and would get either sandwich again. We did a to go for my brother with the pastrami sandwich and a curry chicken empanada. I got a bite of the empanada and we both give it a thumbs up. However, I was not fast enough to take a picture of his sandwich or try it. We ended with a piece of pear tart w/a red wine reduction which was fabulous. We will be back, there is so much more we want to try on the menu!

The front of the building is unassuming in an industrial park but inside is an oasis of flavor. The food here is incredible and balanced. They gave me a sample of their soup made with coconut and shrimp while waiting for my pastrami sandwich. The soup was great but the sandwich was better. They make the bread in house and it is astounding how good it is compared to any other local sandwich shops. They are generous with the meat and everything ties together so well. I stumbled upon this cute restaurant while searching for a unique lunch spot during my work conference. The location is tucked into an unsuspecting commercial building that can easily be missed. Look for a sandwich sign right in front of the door! Upon entering, I was surprised how quaint and welcoming with the owner immediately offering me to sample his gold truffles even before I can order. After I ordered, he came out with 3 pyramid plates. He handed two to the couple sitting at another table and gave me the last one to try. It was the most amazing bite of spinach pasta I've ever tasted, delicious and decadent. I ordered the chicken sandwich, house salad, the empanadas and a dozen of the addictive truffles to take back home with me, which my mom and brother loved also loved when I shared during dinner. This is definitely a hidden gem and Larry is the most hospitable owner/host. I'll be back next time I'm in town. Highly recommended!! read more

Just tried this place about 15 mins ago & wow incredible . I don't usually like empanada filling ...(I know I know ) BUT these empanadas are ridiculously good . I tried the beef and wow light, flakey , perfect and the sauce that comes on the side . Chefs kiss. I also got the pesto gnocchi with chicken ! Also very good. I would never have known it was there because they don't have a sign other than an "empanadas " flag out front . But I'm glad I stopped in . Will be returning read more

This place is a hidden gem! Literally hidden in an unassuming center but you're in the right place if you see a banner with "Empanadas" outside. I can't even explain how good the sandwiches are and I've tried them all. The bread tastes so gourmet and the macaron that comes with each sandwich is a special treat. The ingredients always taste fresh and the quality is always consistent. I can't say enough good things about this place! read more

Was looking for a quick snack before Disneyland and found this spot! They took me shortly before they were closing which I really appreciated. The food displayed looked beautiful. I ordered the turkey sandwich and tuna sandwich and both were delicious! The ingredients were bright and fresh - I felt good after eating! Delicious sandwiches, empanadas and desserts. Everything we tried was tasty and we will definitely be back again. The owner was so gracious and kind and gave us some tasty sweet treats to try. It's a little difficult to see from the street because there is no signage but there is a banner by the door. Definitely would recommend this place 100%!!! read more

I absolutely love the sandwiches from here! My brother usually comes and picks up our order since they close a little early and I work until 5 pm, but their Gluten Free bread is amazing! I usually get the chicken rotisserie sandwich with everything except the tomato on Gluten free bread. The flavor is amazing! My favorite part of the sandwich is the bread and the pickled radish. The pickled radish adds a burst of flavor in your mouth that just elevates the sandwich to another level. You do have to call in advance though for the Gluten free bread to be ready when you pick up. I have also tried their macarons and the flavors I tried that day were really good! We had some dragon fruit macarons and chocolate macarons that were very flavorful and not hard or hollow at all! I've tried macarons from different places and a lot of the times they are either too hard or not soft and chewy enough. As someone else who bakes macarons, I really love when macarons are made nice and chewy rather than stale and old tasting. Definitely a favorite sandwich place now, and I'm loving that they're gluten friendly!! The prices are very good too and not as expensive as I'm used to seeing for gluten sensitive customers. The outside doesn't look like a sandwich shop, but don't let the location and looks fool you from having some nice freshly prepared food! read more

Sadly, the outside is not inviting. Inside they play spa music, it is very calming. You walk into a display of their pastries on the counter. Everything I ordered was delicious. Ordered enough for lunch and dinner. House salad, turkey and chicken sandwiches, chicken curry empanada and a couple danishes. While there i tried the special: short rib green curry with quinoa. My husband and I loved everything. I can't wait to go back and try the pastas! read more

I tried all four flavors of empanadas and they are delicious. Soft perfectly toasted for that genuine light crunch from the outside, the inside is even more appealing with its tres quesos, the ricotta with spinach is splendid great combination of cheese and veggie. This place is a hidden GEM! Larry is an artist of a chef - everything is house made to his exacting standards. My favorite is the portobello mushroom sandwich on house made focaccia bread. Empanadas are also a delicious specialty. Must try a few hand made dark chocolate truffles while you're at it. Perfect choice for catering an office lunch or event. The baked goods are out of this world. Larry is a trained pastry chef and it shows. The empanadas are fantastic, super light and fluffy. Fillings are delicious. Pastrami sandwich is also great. Larry is very friendly and loves his work. Cannot recommend this place enough! read more

AkeLarry is the best place to eat when you want a gourmet meal for a reasonable price. The food here is off the charts; something I would expect to pay 2 or 3x what he charges for. Larry is a sweet person with an even sweeter taste for high end food, and there is nothing out there to compete with what he offers. My favorites being the chicken Alfredo pasta with pesto, and the portabella mushroom sandwich with homemade focaccia bread, mayo, and pickled radish. Larry is a real treasure and I guarantee you that you will have no regrets about eating his food. Wow, just wow. This place is amazing! I had a stressful morning with no time to break away for a normal lunch so I arrived just as Larry was pulling in his sign at the end of his day, 3 PM. I asked if he could still serve me lunch and he said "of course." While I was figuring out what I wanted he gave me a delightful home made chocolate truffle to improve my day. Mmmmmm! It worked! My day was MUCH better! The orange zest really made the truffle special. I ordered two empanadas, one beef and one curry chicken. The beef one was good but the curry chicken one was sublime, and the sauce he added was remarkable. This is a truly special place. read more

This place is super amazing. I didn't realize they were closed because they close at 3 but the door was unlocked. I was greeted immediately and instead of turning me away I was asked to order. I had the turkey sandwich and a yellow curry chicken empanada. They both were amazing the empanada full of flavor but light and delicate the sand which was the best sandwich I have ever had. Then I was greeted with a little almond cake with blueberry and coming from someone who's wife is a pastry chef it knocked my socks off. All together is was a very pleasant experience and the food was out of this world. 5 out of 5 read more

Hands down the best sandwich and empanadas I have ever tasted. I got the rotisserie chicken sandwich, it's packed with flavor and lots of fresh ingredients. And the focaccia bread it comes on is amazing. I also had the three cheese and curry chicken empanadas, both amazing. Great flavor and a very soft buttery flaky crust. My husband got the Alfredo chicken last time, which he absolutely loved. The place is immaculately clean, everything priced well, and owned by a nice family. Definitely one of my husband and I's favorite lunch spots. read more

The cashier was manned by wonderful woman who did every and all tasks from taking the orders to putting food items in the oven to answering the phone I'm probably much more than that. I don't know. In contrast there was an Asian man with a black shirt who was also working. He looked lost and completely helpless. There was a moment where this woman was so busy and there was a ringing that I assume was from either a phone call or a delivery order. This man did not offer to help more nor did he help from what I saw. He was utterly helpless and unhelpful. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with the encouragement "Hey help your team out!" The woman on the other hand was doing so many things simultaneously and yet was really kind at the same time. Today I had a flounder piccata mashed potatoes, perfectly roasted vegetables, and pasta Bolognese with huge chunks of beef. Everything was delicious. The flounder even remained crunchy two hours after leaving the store they don't have the variety in the hot bar that Whole Foods has, however, the quality is far superior, and the flavor is in the upper echelon compared to Whole Foods. These are consistent findings within the self-service food area even within the deli carving station. Sometimes they have turkey briskets. I believe I've even purchased prime rib there and the quality and flavor is always on point consistently the presentation of all of their items never fails either also, every time I go to Bristol Farms you're always greeted with a smile. The staff is really nice and in general they look like they're happy to be there which makes the shopping experience that much better.

As a customer of color, it also made me wonder whether he would have made that same comment to shoppers who do not share my skin color. That is not the kind of interaction any customer should have while grocery shopping, especially at a store like Bristol Farms. Other shoppers should be aware of this experience, and I hope Bristol Farms takes it seriously. Please do better and train employees not to make assumptions about customers.

It's one of my first stops on my way to the parks. The prices and variety are much better here than inside the park. They also offer seasonal and monthly items to keep you coming back for more. The two restaurants I have yet to try are Seoul Sister, which offers modern Korean cuisine and bowls, and GG Chicken Shop, made famous by award-winning chefs for chicken sandwiches, salads, and more. I've heard some good and bad things about the food here, as well as about the elevated prices, which have been a turnoff for me since they opened. I may try the food one day and share my thoughts. There's ample seating inside on the first and second floors, as well as nearby areas around DTD. The staff has been kind for the most part and has had no issues with the service or orders I've received. Magic Key holder discounts apply here, with the exception of alcoholic beverages. Overall, Parkside is a good food and drink option for locals and visitors alike looking to try something new.

I was at a place where I overheard two people talking about Ake Larry and going on about how good the food was there. So, I decided to put this to the test. I drove about 15 minutes out of my way to get there. I went inside and was greeted so graciously by V. She handed me the menu and I decided to get the Pastrami Sandwich and the roasted chicken salad to go. I tell you, this is probably the best sandwich I have had in the last 10 years or so. The taste was absolutely satisfying. The meat was tender and veggies crisp. The bread is made in house and was soft and had a wonderful aroma to it. I was even amazed at the way they wrapped the sandwich. It was almost artistic, excellent presentation. My wife just loved the roasted chicken salad. One thing to note, since my wife does not like honey mustard dressing, I asked V if they had any other dressing. That's when I got my chance to meet Larry. He's a very polite young man. He introduced himself and asked what type of dressing I would like. I told him to make a tangy and savory dressing. He practically whipped up a most delicious dressing I have tasted.
