I was really excited for this restaurant! Menu looked a bit too extensive however I was willing to roll the dice. The ambiance is a bit confused. Are you a sports bar, steakhouse or French style bistro? There was all these jerseys on the wall, but then a photo of a lion and then a mounted gazelle head on the opposite wall. Dress code? My left foot! I saw t-shirts and baseball caps, and people wearing legit athletic gear mixed with people who actually followed the dress code. Just a weird mix, if there is no dress code update the website so I could have worn my stretchy pants. The food: Apps the oysters are really nice! Fresh but small. The fried calamari was fine. The garlic aioli was way better than the watery marinara. We got the steak. The cowboy ribeye with the Thermidor topping was fantastic, nice char and perfect medium rare. My husband got the porterhouse, huge disappointment. Over cooked in places and over charred. It was actually tough to chew. But he's a saint so didn't say anything. The special potatoes were undercooked and forgettable, they were fine but the only thing that stood out was how underdone they were. The Mac and cheese with the lobster was also forgettable. They use the scraps of lobster to top it off. Upscale, not even close. Service, our waiter checked on us really infrequently, but frequently. Like when he didn't need to be there he was and when you needed him he wasn't there lol. The buser gentleman with in the all black was fantastic! Promote that guy to a waiter because he really elevated what was a real shit experience. Drinks... they can't make an old fashioned to save their life. Crushed ice in an old fashion? Come on bartender take a good look at yourself. The mocktail was fine but really unbalanced which was weird since it was on the menu. Just really sweet. Dessert was on them. Got the molten chocolate lava cake that they called something else. It was cold... and they wrote happy birthday instead of happy anniversary. Real attention to detail here lol. All in all I wouldn't go back. We spent about $750 with tip. Definitely over priced. Linens were dirty on the table, bathrooms weren't properly cleaned. Are you an upscale restaurant or not? I went to Al Biernat's to celebrate my birthday in March 2025. It's a place I've looked forward to trying for a long time as it's a Dallas staple I've always heard great things about. It was very loud and crowded, the vibe was very much a place to go and be seen. Lindsay, our waitress was nice, but our booth was cramped and wobbly and the person behind me moved so much and so constantly that I spent most of the meal leaning forward to try to avoid it. We started with drinks which were probably the best part of the night- the old fashioned was particularly good. The food was good, but not the quality I'd expect for the price point. I don't regret going, but I won't be back. I'd give the experience 3 stars, but I deducted a full star because I spent most of the next day sick. read more

After hearing so many friends rave about this steakhouse, I was really excited to give it a try--but unfortunately, the experience fell flat for me. The wait for our food was unusually long; it felt like forever just to get appetizers. To be fair, when they did arrive, the appetizers were excellent and the Caesar salad was one of the best I've had. The steak itself was also cooked very well, so the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. The problem came at the end of the meal. When I asked to have my steak boxed to go, the staff combined it into one container with an entire table's leftover steaks. That felt careless and unprofessional. Came here for a work lunch with a client and from Entrance to exit the experience was great. They have complimentary valet onsite, perfect because parking is limited around the area. It was perfect for a business meeting and would equally be as great for a date night, or an evening at the bar located at the front. The service was the best part of it for me. Although we were sat 20 minutes after our reservation, I was understanding as it was truly packed there AND the New York Rangers were there. It's a dope atmosphere but a bit loud. Once we were sat, the service was great. Started with the steak tartare that comes with their house made sour cream and onion chips, which was the best I've ever had. Order the New York strip, and all 3 of our steaks were under, which they quickly fixed. While I was not thrilled about that, the actual steaks were pretty good and I just wish the sear and temp were right first try. We got the Mac and cheese which was well seasoned and not too cheesy. I rarely turn down a good steak, but I was in the mood for something lighter, and was eyeing the Chilean Sea Bass. Our terrific server happened to recommend it as well. It was a very well cooked, nice sized portion of moist and tender fish. It's served over a rich not-so-lobstery risotto. The sides we ordered were good. My favorite was probably the somewhat basic roasted mushrooms, though the decadent potato au gratin was cheesy and tasty. I booked this restaurant to celebrate a birthday and Mother's Day during brunch. We were quickly seated and had a nice view of the beautiful restaurant. We began with the calamari, crab cakes, and a basket of bread. The crab cakes were loaded with crab meat, the calamari was delicious and the surrounding sauces were a great compliment. We had the eggplant Parmesan, the pot roast, chicken and waffles and the eggs Benedict. The pot roast was melt in your mouth goodness. My niece said her eggs Benedict were amazing and the hollandaise sauce was the highlight. I really enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan, particularly the pasta. My nephew said that the chicken was a bit salty so maybe he got a bad batch. We also ordered the coconut cream pie, the pecan pie, the crème brûlée, and the bread pudding. There were absolutely no Complaints! If I had to choose our #1 favorite was the bread pudding and the least favorite was the crème brûlèe. I've lived in Dallas over 25 years and this is my first time visiting Al Biernat's. I've always heard great things about the food, ambiance and customer service so I was looking forward to a great experience. We arrived early for our 7:30 reservation and checked in with the hostess approached us. Afterward we retreated to the bar for a pre dinner drink. 7:30 came and went with no word on our table. We were finally seated at 7:55 when we were planning to leave and go elsewhere. When the hostess seated us there was no apology nothing. No nothing. The service at our table was better and kudos to the sommelier for picking an excellent bottle of wine. The food was underwhelming. The main reason we will not return is because of the service we received from the hostess. When you attend an establishment of this kind you expect to be treated well not like another customer waiting in line for a table. The least they could have done was let us know they were running behind and apologize. After tonight we will not return and continue to frequent similar restaurants such as Trulucks and Ocean Prime where we receive excellent service and the experience we expect from establishments of this kind. read more

A good switch up from our usual steakhouses in downtown. Booking a reservation on a Friday night was surprisingly easy. We requested a booth, but since there were none available in the main dining room, we were seated in a quieter side room near the lounge. It turned out to be a nice, intimate spot. The restaurant seems to have three areas: a busy and loud main dining room, a casual bar and lounge with TVs playing sports, and this side area. There might've been more areas but that's at least what I saw. The food was good but could use a bit more seasoning overall. We started with the tempura prawns, which were huge and perfectly fried but a bit under-salted. I was convinced to try the chop salad instead of the traditional wedge, and while it was good, it could have used more blue cheese (but maybe that's just me and my love for blue cheese). For the main course, I had the New York strip. It was tasty but also needed a bit more salt. The sides were standard steakhouse fare. The creamed corn was the usual. Nothing outstanding but good. The fried onion strings were our favorite, and the broccoli was good but the harissa sauce is really spicy. If you don't like extreme heat, I'd suggest getting the sauce on the side. I tried the raspberry margarita mocktail, but I wouldn't recommend it--it was way too tart and sour. The desserts were definitely a highlight. We had the apple tart and the white chocolate raspberry cake, which I hear has been discontinued. That's a shame because the cake was my favorite of the two. Prices were typical for a steakhouse; we didn't pay any more than at similar places. Service was a bit slow. Our server was friendly but seemed overwhelmed. It wasn't a big issue, though, and he did take some time to chat with us as the restaurant quieted down. We had a reservation but were running late so we called to inform the restaurant. Us running late wasn't a big deal. When we arrived we had a hard time finding the entrance/valet. We somehow ended up parking in the back and walked down a driveway to the outdoor patio and then went inside. It was crowded and we waited about 10 minutes for a table. We were seated in a U-shaped booth looking out into the restaurant. It was very intimate, dimly lit and an overall nice ambiance. Our waiter, Sean, was knowledgeable and helpful. He was very excited as he told us about the menu items. What we ate: 1. We shared the Caesar salad. Perfect size for two, and served with crushed black pepper. 2. North Dakota Buffalo, cooked medium, with mixed vegetables, skin on potatoes and habanero BBQ sauce. This meal was amazing! We had never had Buffalo and really enjoyed it. The Buffalo was cooked perfectly, juicy and well seasoned. The sauce was good but the Buffalo was edible without it. We ordered another to go. 3. Scallops with cashew butter & raisin rice, and roasted cauliflower. The rice was creamy goodness! The scallop taste best when combined with the rice. 4. Key lime pie and blood Orange sorbet. Tasted good, no complaints 5. Riesling...tasted like any other Riesling 6. Red berry lemon drop was smooth and light. 7. And I'm happy we did because it was a lot going on inside, mind you it was a Friday night so I'm guessing this is a pretty popular place to kick off the weekends. My husband and I came here after a business meeting and despite not having a reservation, the hostesses and manager kindly greeted us, and quickly seated us. Even though our most recent visit was on a random Tuesday, the place was abuzz with patrons. Our server was kind, helpful, and allowed us to enjoy our evening without rushing us through our service. My husband wanted a nice full bodied wine to sip on throughout the evening, and since I was torn on what to choose, our server brought over the sommelier to help us with our wine bottle selection. The sommelier provided thorough descriptions of the wines I asked about, but when I asked him for his own suggestions or recommendations he mentioned it would depend on my personal preference without much further guidance or assistance which was a bit disappointing. He even made a comment about pricing differences between the bottles we were considering which was a tad off putting since pricing wasn't the issue. I just chose the first Cabernet that piqued my husband's interest, and it ended up being a great choice. I also tried the spicy lychee martini which was very good and had the perfect kick to it without being overly spicy. We started with the classic seafood platter and even though the options within the platter were tasty, I do wish the crab cake that came with it was a little more firm. We opted for an off menu steak selection that was cut by the chef and served medium. The steak came with a buttery sauce that had a subtle smoky and spicy taste to it. Overall our steak was good but I've had better steak options before. We also had the lobster Mac and cheese, and the creamed spinach. Both side selections were great and I was impressed with the amount of lobster in the Mac and cheese. Al Biernat's is a firm staple in the Dallas area and rightfully so! Our waiter, Christopher, was magnificent. He was candid about his preference for menu items and suggested slight modifications that would enhance our dining experience. We both truly enjoyed what we ordered, and I'd highly recommend either dish, the Ramen (with soy + red pepper flakes) or Chicken Piccata. I'd order either one on these again on my next visit. Seriously Al, how friggin' hard is it to make a French Dip? There's two parts...a sandwich and Au Jus. Unfortunately, this isn't Philippe's (you know, the creator of the French Dip in Los Angeles). Take 1: I stopped in for lunch and spent $100 on 2 beers and a meal with tip. When I got home I found that the "French Dip" was missing the au jus. It's not hard guys, dip the ladle and fill a cup. But I digress. Having had enough of bad service, I called and after enough b****ing I was told to come pick up a complete meal...a French Dip and a dessert. Guess what...no au jus (AGAIN!!!) Sorry guys, if you want to be a 4 star restaurant (5 is beyond your reach), but if you want to be a 4 star restaurant, start by getting the order right! I guess I'l go to Arby's across the street. My friend got Caesar salad that looked good and comes with a large parmesan crisp instead of crotons. I had the crab/corn chowder that is their specialty. For entrees, my friend got pasta with chicken and he seemed to like it. I got the salmon salad which was quite good. The 40 day aged filet ordered medium rare was like butter melting in my mouth, but better. I can't put into words how perfectly tender the meat was. The flavor stood on its own as well. This was hands down the best filet I've ever had. - Perfect char. Perfect tenderness. Perfect flavors. The sweet potato on the plate with the filet is a great flavorful pairing and consistency. I also tried the bone-in cowboy ribeye, pictured, and WOW. Temp and flavor also 10/10. The wine was delicious, along with the cocktails and desserts (unfortunately not pictured). Offers an extensive wine list, and a wide variety of different desserts and cocktails. We enjoyed everything about this place. The walls have a couple of really nice mounts on them.
