They will soon be expanding the space to include a bar and more tables. I am from California, so I look forward to see what they do to the place when I get back. I ordered the Etoufee Egg Rolls, Wings, and Jambalaya. My cousin ordered a burger, and his son ordered the Mac and cheese. OMG - the egg rolls were incredible. It came with a roumalade that I think they need to bottle up and sell. It's the kinda sauce you'd want to put on everything. I liked the texture and flavor of the wrap and omg the flavors tasted like they were wrapped in love. Chloe, the owner, told us that the jambalaya ones are even better. I was already ordering the jambalaya so I opted for the etouffee to get a wider variety of flavors. I ordered the wings with the lemon pepper and buffalo seasoning. The combo was a little salty, but good. That roumalade with it was bombacious! The jambalaya won my heart. It gave me the warm fuzzies because it felt like a beautiful story unfolded with every bite. So many flavors to take your tastebuds on an incredible journey. Love that the food is cooked in beef tallow. You can taste it in the fries. The crispiness and omg - I miss the days before people cooked with vegetable oil. Looking forward to the day when I can come back again. PS- please bottle up that roumalade and sell it!

I don't think I've ever had a better one. The 1/2 order of jambalaya also excellent and properly spiced. My grandson enjoyed his chicken strips and fries. I also liked my Cajun fries and Jamaican cola. I look forward to returning here again soon to try some other tasty options on their menu, including red beans and rice, collard greens, oxtail, etc. The owners were very nice and the food was ready for pickup right on time. I will be back.

Not only…read moreis their food flavoring completely off, also my opinion is, they do not operate from a place of integrity! To me, that's a big No, No. I would highly recommend Macarthurs or 6978 soul food restaurants instead. Delicious food, and the restaurants appreciate their patrons. Back story to my review of Priscilla's. Long story short, I am an African American woman, he was born and raised in Chicago westside. A couple years ago I relocated to another state, for work purposes. However, my family and friends are all in Chicago. I do return home to Chicago possibly 2-3x a year. When doing so, I try my best to spend my black dollars with black establishments. Priscilla's is one of those restaurants. I have property there in the west suburb close by. The 1st Sunday of August, I happened to be in town. I had my daughter to go and pick up a couple plates. I wanted some soul food. In preparation of this, she used Priscilla's website to directly order from them. This website even gave an estimated time the order would be ready! Boom! She headed out to pick up our merch. Why did she have to stand and wait in the restaurant for nearly a hour & a half for her order to be given to her. When she got home with the plates, why was the chicken Ice Box cold, with warm gravy poured on top. Everything that was paid for was a disaster!!! I've had issues with them before, and they resolved it, so I didn't think much of it. Although I was hungry, I gave them a call and left a voice mail. It's been two weeks, I'm still waiting on a call back from them. The utter disrespect of not even speaking with me. I even called a couple days later... Basically, I am going to file a complaint. It's not the money for me, it's the disrespect that has me offended. I'm now back out of town, over 2,000 miles away. They could have even offered credits for my daughter or a refund! Nothing!!! There's a saying, sometimes it's your own kind that will do you the dirtiest. Honestly as I think back on this. 1st Sunday is normally crowded at all restaurants in the black community. I think they may have run out of food, specifically chicken. If that was the case, just say that. Don't send me chicken that was in the back of the fridge from 3 days ago. Disgusting behavior. My money spends everywhere, but never again in this outdated dump! Believe me, I will file a couple of complaints. Even if I never get a red penny back, I want to alert customers, beware. Also check the temp of your food before exiting the place.

The soul rolls are some of the best. I appreciate that they did not put a dusting of powdered sugar on them, although they did have a sugar dipping sauce on the side. The fried catfish was divine. The crust was out of this world. My hat goes off for the collard greens that were seasoned nicely and the sweet potatoes that weren't overly sugary. I noticed they stopped putting in-house dining meals in to-go containers. The sides were in small containers, but hot food in the clear plastic containers before used to make dining in-house feel rushed. They really stepped up their game.

Everything but the "canned " sweet potatoes was extremely salty--and I like salt. 2 big fillet pieces but again the coating was overly salty. Also ordered a side of the fried green tomatoes, mush. Again very heavy on the salt. The tomatoes tasted strongly of vinegar and were like mush with the breading , again salty, falling off. There was a small container of what I assumed to be their version of remoulade sauce which was runny and sweet. This was a pickup order that cost me $104.88‼‼ Fried Green Tomatoes were inedible. NEVER AGAIN UPDATE: I CONTACTED THE MANAGER WITH A LETTER DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM AND PROMPTLY RECEIVED A FULL REFUND ALONG WITH A $25 CREDIT THAT CAN BE USED ON FUTURE PURCHASES

Right from the beginning, Sarah, a team member at Soul & Smoke, was very communicative and responded quickly to our inquiries. She provided excellent food recommendations regarding the number of people attending the event and detailed the food items that would be safe for our staff members with dietary restrictions or allergies. One feature we particularly appreciated was the inclusion of food tent cards, which outlined the ingredients in each dish and highlighted any allergens or dietary restrictions. This thoughtful detail made it easier for everyone to choose safely, and it's something we've never experienced with a catering service before! The delivery was on time, and they kept us updated with a delivery tracker, which was very helpful! The delivery driver assisted us in loading the catering onto a cart and was polite. Most importantly, the quality and freshness of the food were outstanding! A few standout items included the pulled pork, pulled chicken, mac & cheese, green beans, and their new dessert, peach cobbler! Our staff absolutely loved the food. Here are a couple of comments from them: - "I think Soul & Smoke may be my new favorite restaurant!" - "I think this lunch was great! I'm also happy we were able to support a local business." We are thrilled that we were able to support this local business!

I observed people leaving table groups and more people coming to the table to join the group. This experience was definitely better than my first time at their original location. My catfish and grits were delicious. Those grits were perfect as they were creamy and thicker. The catfish cooked perfectly and great size filets. The fried green tomatoes were a hit. Not overly breaded and a great flavor. The drinks were also good which had never changed. I believe it may have been a day where happy hour was the whole day so it appeared that the table drinks weren't being considered in a timely fashion compared to bar orders. I think I waited about an hour for my second drink. The waiter was kind, apologetic, and continued to check in along the way. He even showed us when he placed the order so we wouldn't think he was lying. The peach cobbler was also good but very sweet and peach heavy. I like peach cobbler but prefer the crust and just a little peach juice. There was a live DJ which played really good music. Definitely a vibe place with good options.

From the moment we walked in, the aroma and energy let us know we were in for something special. Ordering was harder than expected not because of the menu, but because I kept eyeing everyone else's plates being served. Everything looked so good. After some back and forth, we finally settled on the baked chicken, shrimp, and smothered pork chops, each with two sides. Every single bite was flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with love. The baked chicken was tender, the shrimp perfectly seasoned, and the pork chops, Fall-off-the-bone and packed with rich, savory goodness. The sides were just as satisfying classic, soulful, and cooked just right. The service was warm and welcoming, and our waitress was incredibly friendly. The ambience ties it all together relaxed, inviting, and filled with the kind of vibe that makes you want to stay a while. The Soul Spot is more than just a meal, it's an experience. One I'll definitely be coming back for.
