I've tried other Albert's Mexican Food locations, but they just don't hit the same as this one. So officially... this is my location and I will continue coming here specifically for the asada fries. The inside has plenty of space, so it's a great spot for groups. They also have outdoor seating for those who don't want to brave the indoor cold because one thing about this place... it is ALWAYS chilly inside lol. Personally, I don't mind it, but if you're someone who gets cold easily, the patio is there for you and it's always clean. The service has also always been great. Went here after a long day at work around 7:30 PM on Monday, craving a California burrito with fries like the ones from Alberto's. When we asked about it, the employee immediately said, "This isn't Alberto's, we don't have that," instead of just explaining the menu in a helpful way. We then asked if they offered any burritos with fries, and her explanation was confusing and not helpful at all. A better approach would've been suggesting something similar or clearly walking us through the options. When we pulled up to the window, it got worse she completely ignored us while talking to the cook. The cook ended up taking our payment and handing us the food instead. Customer service really matters, and this experience was disappointing. Management should look into who was working at that time and improve communication and professionalism. Love this place. Staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurant wasn't immaculate but clean, well lit and music want too load. Unfortunately it does get a bit warm inside. So many options on the menu, large portions and really tasty. We had the. quesadilla supreme in chicken and one in carne asada as well as beef taquitos. Ordered 4 asada tacos, guacamole, onions, cilantro and tomatoes were fine. Ordered 4 tacos, ate the insides of 2 with a fork, The meat looked and tasted like they were boiled and flavorless. The tortillas were under heated, you pick a taco up and instantly the bottom falls out they didn't heat them up long enough to firm up, they look like they were steamed, ended up force eating everything with a fork. We ordered the chicken wet burrito and a torta de milanesa accompanied of agua de jamaica. The food is below average. The service was friendly, but the place is dirty. To start, the floor was sticky which shows they don't rinse the mop properly and it gives a terrible impression to walk on sticky floor. All the tables were empty and dirty. I live just around the corner from this place, and I really enjoy their tacos al pastor. As you can see, their tacos are huge and loaded with meat and flavor. They have a drive-thru and also offer delivery through Grubhub. I highly recommend their 5 Rolled Taquitos Supreme and their Super Fries as well. The only thing to get here is the Carne Asada Fries. Tried other things and they were okay but those super fries are spot on. Of course you have to pay extra to have them add Pico te gallo and yeah sometimes they charge you for it and they forget but just have to remember to check your food before you leave. The super fries here are some of the best around. You would have to go to a similar Albert's in Cypress to get a good quantity Carne Asada fries. First time in Downey and found this place as we were driving. We used the drive thru. There's an outdoor patio and the drive thru is quick-average wait time. Only con about the drive thru is the speaker system used. It echoed a lot and it was VERY HARD to hear/comprehend what was being said through the speaker. We ordered an Asada burrito and I'm not sure what the cashier was saying through the speaker so we just agreed to it. It was honestly laughable. This is the only alberts restaurant you need to know about. Food is always delicious. Yes the wait is long but worth it. My daughter is a picky eater but she loves their chicken super fries and horchata. I love their Chile verde and flour tortillas. It's pricey but you get what you pay for. Each entree is enough for two people. They have so much to choose from. If you go for menudo don't go too late because they will run out. I'm not the biggest fan of Albert's and normally wouldn't grab food from their chain of restaurants. However, I make an exception with this location and only this location. What sets this location apart from others is the battered shrimp option they have on the menu. With that being said, the battered shrimp tacos and burritos are the only thing I order when stopping by on rare occasions. It is quite flavorful and doesn't fall within the bland category like the shrimp that's served at the the other locations that I assume is boiled or sauteed. It also tops all other items on the menu in my opinion. There's no denying that Albert's offers food prepared very fast and you definitely get your moneys worth in terms of portion but the quality isn't the best. Thankfully this location has the battered shrimp that taste better and fresher in quality.
