I was in Grand Junction for 3 weeks and visited here twice. They have a great craft beer selection and a decent food menu. The happy hour wonton tacos were really good. The burger and fries were nothing to rave about but good nonetheless. I had outstanding service at the bar both times I visited. I was in Grand Junction for 2 days working on a project at the university. By business partner spotted the Ale House on the way to the school the first morning and suggested we eat there that evening. We did. We both ordered the meatloaf with sausage. It was excellent. So much so, we returned the next night. The second time around we both tried the steak salad and the green chili. The salad was just as pleasing as the meatloaf the night before, but the green chili stole the show. For some reason I always try green chili when it's on a menu, and have tried all over Colorado. In my humble opinion no other comes close to the Ale House. I only wish I could get this where I live, (Southern California). I have tried to make green chili myself and have made something edible, but NEVER even in the same galaxy as this one. read more

Stopped in looking for a place to watch football. What a great choice! Started with a cup of green chili, it was amazing! Little bit of kick, perfect amount of chunks of meat. Followed it up with a steak, which was cooked perfect to order (medium rare) tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Let me start by saying I love the Ale House. I know with Covid places are struggling but you still need to have good customer service. The last 3 experiences I've had there have not been great. My family & I tried to go on 4th of July for lunch. We got there & they were not busy at all which shocked us. We went to go in & my husband realized he forgot his mask so he went back to car to get it. Wasn't in car. The male host/seater was very rude & told us we couldn't be in building without mask. We knew that & tried to explain, asked if they may have a mask since we forgot one & he said we don't have masks here for you. Was very short & rude with us. Was it our fault for forgetting a mask? Yes. But no need to be so aggressively rude. I had friends come from out of town in October. We were planning a girls night out/business dinner for 8 ladies. I was trying to think of a place with drinks & a wide selection that would appeal to many so we chose the Ale House. Our waitress was good- at first. After we got our first round of drinks & our food we never saw her again for refills on drinks, etc. We had 2 more ladies show up a bit later & wanted drinks & dinner but we couldn't find our waitress to get menus. Had to flag someone else down. Finally got menus but took 45 mins & 2 more flag downs to put in an order. We were promised refills many times but they never showed up. Waitress was no where to be found in restaurant. The few times she did come out was for new tables that were being sat & never came to check in us. Finally after about 2 1/2 hours of sitting there with no refills, the ladies placed to go orders with some other waitress that we flagged down. Our waitress brought the to go orders & apologized for "being slammed". In 2 1/2 hours she had 2 other table- a 4 top & an 8 top that she also never returned to after delivering food. Went again yesterday for lunch. Had to wait about 10 mins at the door for someone to even acknowledge us standing there. The bartender kept looking at us but kept wiping down the bar. Finally some dude came from back corner of restaurant & asked if we had been helped. It took until 3 groups of 2 standing at hostess counter for someone to come out. The service for lunch was pretty much the same. We ordered ice tea & asked for sugar 2 times. We sat for over an hour once we got our food & no one checked on us. Had to flag down to get our check. Finally got sugar for our tea with our bill. I've never had bad service until CoVid hit & they cut the number of tables available. Not sure if you don't have enough staff or if they just don't want to work. It hasn't been busy when we've been in so I don't think it's that they can't keep up. Not sure I'll be back until you are open at full capacity & staff. It's sad because we used to really enjoy coming in. read more

Big mistake thinking I could get good food here. I had the fish & chips. The fish was literally dripping with oil & it made my fries soggy. The specially battered fish tasted terrible. After my long drive from California, I trusted a local to give me a tip about where I could find a good meal. It was football night & the locals were having a great time watching the Broncos game. Absolutely packed on a Saturday night. Totally a place you'd want to hang with adult friends and spouses etc. Not so good for kids as the patrons were tipsy and very loud in their use of strings of expletives. Meh. I only had a limited amount of time in Grand Junction to catch a flight back home. I came to this restaurant to experience a Colorado microbrewery before I headed back to California. Unfortunately Ale House didn't blow me out of the water, but it's not like it was absolutely horrible. I ordered a buffalo burger and their signature IPA. When in Colorado, right? The IPA was good, don't get me wrong, but maybe I expected more out of a Colorado brewery? Isn't that what Colorado is famous for? I can get the same quality at a microbrew in California. Better than the shit that's been sitting in a bottle in the market forever, but not the best beer I've ever had, either. It was hoppy and crisp. Good enough. My burger was a disappointment. I ask for rare, I get medium well. If you're going to cook my burger medium well anyway, why ask me how I want it? Seriously I said to my server I wanted the burger freshly dead. Ugh. Everything else was so plain on it. Whoopie. I'm not even going to touch the subject of a "Cuban" sandwich because I'm Cuban and when I see shit labeled Cuban + added jalapeno (among other non-Cuban ingredients) makes me very angry. My boyfriend ordered the brautwust and said it was good enough. I wish I would have done my research to see if there was better in Grand Junction... Okay, I'm reviewing this "two-fold" style. First, as a small group sitting at a table. Second as a couple who chose to sit at the bar. Group/Table: Both times I've been to the Ale house as a small group and sat at a table, the food was great, the drinks were great, and the customer service was great. If you like the Breck brewery, you'll love this place. There are also pool tables, tons of TVs (without having a "trashy" feel), and an huge outdoor patio that's lit up by soft lights. I cannot emphasize enough that as a group, this place is fantastic. Couple/Bar: HORRIBLE. This has happened to my fiance and I twice now...we've gone in at about 10pm (they're one of the bars that's actually open late in GF) and sat at the bar for 5-15 minutes without ONE bartender coming to check on us. Seriously. And I am not exaggerating when I say that 1-2 bartenders saw us walk in, sit at the bar, and then proceeded to walk by us numerous times....all the while we are trying to get their attention for a drink. Also, they were NOT busy at the time (maybe 8 people at the bar, and a handful of groups still sitting at tables). The service was so bad both of these times that we ended up leaving and hitting up the liquor store next door (College liquors) and walking home to make homemade beverages. Seriously Ale House, you guys have GOT to do something about your late night bar service. It's currently appalling and it makes me not want to recommend Ale House to tourists or people in town (when I know you have great food and drinks). read more

It was great having great service with a packed patio last night. Especially for a table of six. I would give him 5 stars! My only complaint is that the menu continues to get smaller and smaller. All my favorite things seem to be gone from the menu; ahi tuna wrap, turkey wrap, chicken pot pie, lavash and hummus and veggie appetizer.... After going to this great brew pub for my daughters four years in college I have to say it always impresses me. We had two large gatherings there last week for graduation... impromptu with 10+ people both time and they were able to accommodate us wonderfully and give us fantastic service and great food. Among our favorites were: Whatever beer special they are having $2.50 for a pint of Colorado beer. Score.. Gigantic pizzas.. just the thing for growing college boys Fantastic salads Fish and chips and fish tacos are a favorite BLAT Sandwich (Bacon Lettuce Avocado and Tomato) - these sustained our daughter through four years of study Huge juicy burgers Seasoned fries Add all this to a fun outside grassy knoll to sit on in lawn chair and enjoy some munchies and a frosty mug of beer. The Ale House has everything you want: Fantastic service, great food, a fabulous beer selection, huge tvs showing a variety of channels, live music, a light, comfy atmosphere, big bar in the middle and a great porch & outside area with misters for the hot days! I have to be honest, I wish there was an Ale House in Denver! I recommend just about everything - i've never been disappointed, and if you're curious about a drink, just ask for a sample! Just ate there 20 min ago. Sat in the back booth window side with a brutal waitress. She never checked in. Took 10 min for a drink refill, had an attitude when my boyfriend and i asked for a refill. Once brought the refill she slammed it on the table then ignored me when i tried to tell her not to do that. I then got the chicken pot pie which was AWFUL! Not the chicken pot pie you would expect but it is DISGUSTING. I told the waitress "hey I'm so sorry i do not like this pot pie it is absolutely brutal" not a word said from her. She picked the plate up with an attitude. The chicken pot pie was still on our bill. Made no tiff of it being on our bill because we were so done with her. I usually love this place but that waitress needs to go or learn how to waitress and treat customers right. But always remember no matter how bad you're treated by a wait or or waitress still be kind. read more

The Ale House was very nice. Being a person who does not normally drink beer, I was able to find a beer on tap that I really enjoyed (Breckinridge Agave Wheat). We're from out of town and knew nothing about the area. The bartender on duty, Dustin, was extremely nice and knowledgable not only about their beers and menu but gave us insight about what to do around town. I had the Elk Meatloaf. Being from Texas, elk is not something on the menu. It was actually very good! I would recommend it! This bar has live music during the weeknights and weekend nights. However, the food was great- had a very satisfying bleu cheese burger. There is an extremely relaxing lawn/patio area where you can sit and relax with a nice beer. Came here two nights in a row- pretty decent food - had the red pepper hummus and chicken satay both nights, they were fantastic. Had the artichoke dip, it was pretty decent. Loved the satay chicken though - the peanut sauce really makes it! They had some great brews on tap, lots of variety.... they have a great bar- the service was friendly and awesome. Tash was fabulous and called us honey, sweetie and sugar- felt really down home- love the way all our servers made us feel at home. I liked this place. Had the salmon entree- have it with the pesto. Also had a Cesar and the green chile too. It's a pretty solid place to grab a brew and a few eats- definitely worth checking out in Grand junction.
