I stopped by this cool little hip taco joint the other day. It was late but I'm from San Diego and it wasn't that late for me, plus we have the best Mexican food hands down and if anyone wants to challenge me on that then...... So I wanted to compare with some places out here. Now we have different kinds of Mexican restaurants, your sit down home style restaurant and our famous open all night, on every corner, after the bar sober you up, burrito and taco shops. Well this place was kinda in between. I walked in and the chic behind the register was super helpful and recommended the pastor. So pastor it was!!! I got the nachos and my buddy got the tacos. The cool thing about this place is the beer fridge in the back. They have a decent selection of craft beers. San Diego happens to be the new beer capitol of the world, just sayin. I felt at home with this spot and appreciated the recommendation of the employee and the food was good. I killed those pastor nachos and it was everything I wanted. Not only was I sold on the recommendation but I saw the pastor spinning in the back. Let me tell you guys, if you move that up front it will sell itself!!! Ale Taco has Beautiful and clean interior. I have been so excited to try this place out and today I was craving street tacos. I tried the steak, barbocoa, and chicken, the presentation was beautiful but unfortunately I was disappointed by all 3, the steak and chicken lacked the fajita seasoning you often get at true street taco places, the pieces of meat were also too large for street tacos all of the meat fell from my taco... The Barbocoa lacked seasoning I tasted all sweetness. The salsas were good. The Tres Leches cake was amazing. They probably have other great things on the menu but for street tacos I would not go here... you would be better off going to a local Latin meat market for street tacos! read more

This is a legit street taco joint! They even have authentic Al Pastor tacos that are cooked on a spit. The breakfast tacos are also very good and filling. The best part? Prices are very reasonable and beer selection is good. I'll be back often. read more

I went there for lunch and walked away very impressed. I ordered the 3 steak taco plate with double rice. Ten dollars so very reasonable for the quality you are getting. Service was excellent and came out reasonably fast. So the word that came to mind was fresh. The steak was cooked to order and juicy not dry. The cilantro and onions were fresh. You can choose flour or corn tortillas and I went with four. There was a nice light char on the tortilla but it was still soft and warm in the middle. It came with two sauces that were delicious with just the right kick. I try to find a negative and really there was only one minor one for me. I feel the steak could have had a little more salt and some Southwest seasoning. But I only noticed when trying it on its own. In the taco with the sauce and vegetables it was not needed or noticable. I would highly recommend and I can't wait to come back and try some other items on the menu. Also I was there on work lunch so I could not explore the craft beer aspect. From afar I could see a lot of the local staples and they have a build your own 6pack with a selection that looked about on par with local Kroger's. Not sure on the prices but next time hopefully I can partake. read more

Drove by yesterday and had to come check them out today! Ecstatic that we did! The freshest tacos I've had in a long time! The tacos al pastor were delicious! The meat, flavorful and tender! So good! Mom had the Santa Fe Salad and it was fresh, tasty and plentiful! Now for some homemade pecan and pistachio ice cream! Don't sleep on this gem, get you some! They also sell wine and beer. read more

I was looking for a new taco spot in the area since I've been highly disappointed the the ones I've tried, well I have to say I'm sill disappointed. The plus is the food was ready pretty quick, the rice was decent, however the meat was extremely dry and had zero flavor. Even the salsa had very little flavor and that was just the tacos, I had a steak burrito and meat was the same as what was on the tacos dry and flavorless. The Barbacoa tacos my wife didn't even eat she said the meat was slimy. So I have to say I won't even give this place another try. read more

The barbacoa street tacos are where it's at! Also, surprisingly good fries, on the thinner side which I like and with the perfect amount of salt. Neither of the people in my party were a fan of the chips and salsa. The rice is decent. Overall, I would definitely go back for the barbacoa street tacos! read more

I wanted tacos and found the nearest taco shop. Best decision! I had the barbacoa tacos on flour tortilla and al pastor torta both of which were so good! The barbacoa was my favorite slow cooked and so soft. This was my second time coming and I will definitely come again. read more

We love Ale Taco! Favorite local taco shop around! We have had all the tacos and breakfast tacos, the Barbacoa is our favorite meat. Great flavor and always delicious. We have also really like the quesadillas and burrito bowl as well, anything on the menu is good. These are the best street tacos around. I grew up eating out of a taco truck and this is just as good as those. The queso is a little different with a dollop of guacamole in it but it's good and nice to have a change of pace. I love this place and we are there at least once a week. read more

Being from South Texas, where good, authentic (IMO) Mexican food is, it was definitively hard to find a good Mexican restaurant that serves tacos I'm used to. Yumm!! This I've been here twice, and both times, the food was exceptional. I was a little concerned the first time I got the beans because they looked a little loose, but they ended up being my favorite refried beans I've had in a while. I've had the steak tacos and steak nachos, both highly recommend. I will always, now that I know, get the nachos. Huge portion of food for a great price, and it's SOOOO good! My only complaint is the salsa isn't that smacking. read more

Believe the hype! This is not just the best taco place in the Lewisville area, it may be the best restaurant period. I had the Pastor and Steak tacos as well as the Pastor nachos and they were uniformly excellent. Everything was hot, fresh, tasty, and served with a smile. If you want authentic street tacos in the area, this is your place! My co workers wanted to eat taco casa and I brought them here instead and now they appreciate the TRUE, deliciousness of authentic Mexican food. Their homemade hot sauces are to die for. No restaurant experience should end with customers feeling intimidated or unsafe I called the restaurant the next day to speak with a manager about the incident and was told there was no manager or supervisor available. Until management addresses both the security behavior and the lack of accountability, I would not recommend coming here. Customers shouldn't have to accept threats as a part of dining here. The tacos were definitely the highlight of my meal and left me wanting more. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn for the worse when I decided to try their side of fries. When I got home and opened the takeout container, I was greeted with a disappointing sight. The fries were soggy and undercooked, which was a letdown considering the high expectations I had from the tacos. To make matters worse, when I returned to the restaurant to address the issue, I felt as though the manager was upset with me for bringing it up. When I mentioned this to the manager, she seemed annoyed and questioned what was wrong with the fries. I had to explain that they were undercooked and requested for them to be recooked. The interaction left me feeling uneasy and disappointed in the customer service. In conclusion, my experience at Ale Taco was a mixed bag. While the tacos were outstanding and worth returning for, the side of fries was a major letdown. I had an amazing experience at this Tex-Mex taco spot! The guacamole is delightfully chunky, the chips are absolutely addictive, and the salsa packs a fiery punch. Great little taco place! Their barbacoa tacos are the best I've had. The sides are very good/homemade and are big enough for two people to enjoy. They provide a lot of nice touches like limes/onions with cilantro and several different types of sauce to add to your tacos. read more
