Service dept scams at their finest. Took my car in for a recall and system update as my remote connect - a paid service - was not working on my 2020 RAV4. The lady took my phone and tried to figure out if there was anything wrong with my phone as to why the remote connect was not working. I told her it needed a system update on my car - that's exactly what the customer service with remote connect told me. Later I get a call saying they think they know why it's not working and they need to do a 1hr diagnostic. To which I agreed thinking it was something other than the update that I originally asked for. When they call me to let me know it's done, I go in to get my car and they tell me it's a $200 bill. For what? The lady comes out and says it's for the labor for diagnostic. But then she said that it needed a system update and it cleared everything that was wrong. Well didn't I come in specifically for an update? Like what the hell are you talking about? So they made me pay for one hour of "labor" for them to essentially do what I told them needed to be done. A one hour diagnosis was completely unnecessary. 1) She didn't tell me there was going to be a charge and 2) why wouldn't you do the update first because that's what I went in for? And then if it didn't work run the diagnostic. Scammers. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about Kara Vervair, Vehicle Rental Specialist at Alexander Toyota Yuma. I was completely stranded in Yuma after my engine blew in Quartzsite, AZ. I had my pitbull with me, and no one would rent me a car--or even let me inside--because of my dog. I had to tow my own car using a U-Haul just to make it to Yuma, and Hyundai (right next door) couldn't help either due to distance policies. Kara was the only person who stepped up. She worked with Hyundai while they called around trying to help me, and when nothing else worked, Kara went above and beyond anything I've ever experienced in customer service. I didn't even know how I was going to return the U-Haul and get back before she got off work--so Kara stayed late, came and picked me and my dog up herself from the U-Haul location. My phone was dying, it was getting dark, and I was terrified. She made sure I wasn't alone. She got me into a 2025 minivan (the only thing available) just to make sure I was safe and able to get home. She walked me through roadside assistance, checked on my safety, and genuinely cared that I made it back to Tucson okay. I cried. I hugged her. And I will never forget her kindness. Kara is a truly beautiful, compassionate human being. She treated me like a person--not a problem. She is an angel, and I don't say that lightly. I Tacoma pick up was towed in there after a problem with the key/ignition. While they fixed the initial problem, they created two additional problems that would be much longer lasting. Well they fixed the initial problem they spilled cleaning fluid on the steering column, key switch, door mats, carpet. My vehicle now reeks of cleaning fluid, has stains on the steering column. When I spoke to the "service manager" he laughed when I asked what could be done about the stink of this during column. I've escalated the problem to the general manager, who has not returned phone calls in my vehicle continues to stink. If you get work done on your steering column at Alexander Toyota at Alexander Toyota, be sure you buy tons of paper towels, degreaser and a way to clean your clothes. I always ask for Adrian because of his exceptional demeanor and desire to help, but I find all of the service team to be friendly and professional. I am always impressed by the straight forward explanation of what needs to be done, why and how much. I have never felt like they tried to push a single thing or upsell me something I don't need. I took my 2023 tacoma in for an oil change at 10,000 miles around 13,000 miles. I checked to see if my oil was doing fine, and it looked like my oil was overfilled by a quarter inch. I had my wife call service department, and their service manager called back to tell my wife she needs to start her truck and check the oil because when we bring it in its Hot. I called to speak with the GM and left a message on Wednesday to call me back and the situation. I just wanna know why your head service department man told my wife to check the oil with the truck running? All have been favorable until this recent one at Alexander Toyota. They put me through the ringer. extremely misogynistic, disrespectful and disingenuous. I dealt with the Service Manager, Rick Moody and the GM Mark Howard. I CC'd all my emails to the owner. And opened a case that was escalated, by Toyota Corporation themselves. To say both Managers were condescending and ruthless, is an understatement. I was relentless in my pursuit of justice. Finally, Finally ...9 days of multiple phone calls and various daily emails they gave me a partial refund under the pretense of a "goodwill gesture". We have been a Honda family for 30 years. 13 Hondas. I went for the 4-Runner for towing capacity. I love this vehicle, but I miss the highly competent, professional and warm Honda family. I would give this service center less than one star if possible. I've shown up with proof in hand twice and had to leave it for 24 hours the first time just for them to tell me they can't find a problem. I asked today if I was the only one with the issue and they said YES. I did a quick google search, in font of the manager, and I pulled up tons of people with the same issue. The first hit was exactly what I was talking about and yet they don't know anything about it. I shouldn't have to do research on this nor should I have to lose access to my vehicle for an entire day just to tell me they can't find the issue when I'm showing them pictures of exactly what's happening. This will be a Service Department critique. Purchased my 2022 Toyota 4Runner elsewhere primarily because Alexander Toyota didn't have the product I needed but this not the point. Maybe? Anyway, I brought my vehicle into the service department because my TPMS light was on. I had purchased after market wheels and tires across the street at Discount Tire the previous week. Ten days later my TPMS light came on so I went back to Discount Tire and they checked all five tires for correct tire pressure. However they were unable to reset the sensor light because they had not updated/downloaded all the new 2022 vehicle codes. It was suggested that I go over to the Toyota dealer (Alexander Toyota) and they would be able to get me squared away. So I did. I was greeted by a really nice gentleman that listened to my story and told me to wait by my vehicle while he went and got a service writer. A few minutes later a guy came out and literally the first words out of his mouth were "Did you purchase that vehicle here?" Me: "No, but this is the issue." And I quickly explained my problem. Service Guy: "Those are after market wheels and tires. The TPMS sensors are bad. You are not covered by Toyota warranty." Me: "I'm not asking for warranty work, I just want my TPMS reset." Service Guy: "Not covered by warranty but if you want we'll take it in because your TPMS (sensors) are probably bad. (B.S. They were all ten days new.) I'm going to say it might cost you a couple hundred bucks to fix." Me: "Muttering under my breath....this is exactly why Yumans don't do business in Yuma....out loud I say Nope, I'm outta here!" Nice greeter gentleman looking on somewhat embarrassed. So what should the solution have been? First, the service writer should go back to customer service school. (I so wish I'd have gotten his name....tall, younger guy mid to late 20's?) Second, he could have just written up the service order and taken my vehicle and let a mechanic do his job. Third, if it was a bad sensor then he could have given me a choice of repair or not repair. What really sucks is I have 24 months of Toyota care and I absolutely DO NOT want to set foot on Alexander Toyota premises. So I'll drive my goofy ass back to Lake Havasu for ANY type of service. The good news is Discount Tire updated their codes and reset my TPMS and I'm not looking at that annoying light! I waited almost three weeks to put Alexander Toyota Service Department on blast to ensure (what I already knew) that it was just a simple procedure that had absolutely nothing to do with warranty work. This is by far the worst service department I have ever been to. Every time I come back and think it can't get worse it does. The service manager is BEYOND RUDE and couldn't care less about any female who walks into the service department. When I dropped my car off I had to wait for my service advisor because he was nowhere to be found for 10 minutes. This has happened to me on more than one occasion with another advisor saying oh you're with him so I can't help you leaving me stranded waiting. I was left in the unknown about my car for over 7 hours even after calling both my advisor Mike and the service manager Rick Moody more than 3 times. They both wouldn't answer to where the front desk lady said she didn't know what was going on with the service department. Finally, after over 7 hours the service manager called me back but I was met with rude behavior over the phone. He would talk over me and had an attitude of this is how it is so deal with it. When my mother finally went in to see what was going on with my car since I was left without one, the manager was once again rude to her. When my car was finally done I essentially walked out because my keys were left in my car. This just shows how much they care about your vehicle. Something needs to be fixed and that can start by firing Rick Moody. When I called to talk to the general manager about the issue I was told he would call me back. However, I still have yet to get a phone call. So, if you don't want yourself, your mother, friends, or family being treated this way don't come to this dealership service department. read more

Buying a new vehicle sometime is very stressful specially under current circumstance when every dealership running low on new car inventory due to chip shortage.   I contacted Alexander Toyota via their website with our criteria for new Sienna. Derick (online sales consultant) called within short time to introduce himself and took our criteria information. He researched inventory and explained in detail about XLE and XSE package. I dropped my highlander off for my 8am appointment at 730am w/ Hector. I informed him that I would be back the same day to pickup my vehicle when ready. Hector verified my phone of contact. Around 230pm I called to get an update on my vehicle as I had not heard anything. I was informed that not only was Hector gone for the day, but that closing time was at 3pm that day. I was not informed of this. I do not live in Yuma and needed my car back the same day as I would be leaving Sunday. I was also informed that I would have to pick up my car on Monday. The receptionist tried connecting me with Hector, any service member and even a manager. No one responded. The only person that was able to help me was Amanda the woman at cashier. She ended up staying after closing time just so that I could pay and get my vehicle. I am very disappointed that my service man Hector did not call me, update me or inform me of the day plans. Per my receipt, my vehicle was finished being worked on at 836am. My car sat on the lot for more than 6 hours without letting me know. I also noticed that service was done on my vehicle that I did not approve of nor was discussed about. I am very disappointed in this service at this location. read more

Bait and switch attempts, very pushy and demanding 'finance manager.' Was called back multiple times be aide the deal we agreed upon and signed for 'wasn't possible to finance.' Even with a very high credit score, perfect payment history, and a large down payment on a used Tacoma. He spoke Spanish to my fiancé and her dad to convince them to buy gap insurance after a $7000 down payment on a used car and wouldn't take no for an answer. Eventually he took the no for an answer. 4 months after purchase still don't have plates. They had zero communication with the shop that smogged and weighed the truck. Went there after being referred by a relative. Of course, she's embarrassed after seeing how we've been treated. Toyota's and Lexus's are still the cars to buy, just find another dealer. read more

The last time I came in for an oil change, I asked if they could also turn off the auto engine off feature every time I stop. I've seen that it's possible with a friend who has the same car. The employee told me that it's not possible and he's never heard of anyone being able to turn it off. So I went with it. Anyway, I found in a manual that it is possible. Service is mediocre, took my Prius in for recall service. Wasn't completed correctly I called to discuss issue. First time they were busy so I left a message never got a call back. Called a few days later and made an appointment but even service manager seemed like it was no big deal that I'm inconvenienced. Overall atmosphere doesn't not appear to be customer orientated. I would not recommend anyone to come to get their vehicle serviced at this particular Toyota Dealership. From other experiences that I have had while visiting other Toyota Dealers, Never had I had the experience to pay a fee for a diagnostic test, on top of KNOWING what is wrong with my vehicle's hardware and wanting those specific parts replaced and or serviced. That is what I was quoted, and it followed a needless explanation of legalese from the Service Department representative as to justify why they needed "protection and I needed protection." Whatever happened to the simple days of just fixing a vehicle?!? Needless to say, I did not follow through on the service that I was looking for (i.e. I did not have any service done to my vehicle, nor did I pay them any money). I responded to an add that Alexander sent out that they wanted to buy the car that I originally purchased from them. Their offer was pure BS (12,000). I took the car to San Diego the next day and sold it for 18k. Be careful of these small down dealers. This review deals exclusively with the Alexander Toyota Service department. I needed a key made for my 2007 Avalon. It has to be programmed by a Toyota Dealer and so....they have you right where they want you. And they know it. I went in on Friday afternoon and asked about getting a key made. The parts guy, probably the most honest person I dealt with, quoted me $42 for the key. Then he called someone, probably a service advisor, and that person said they would charge $50 to program the key. Total, $92 plus tax. It was late in the day, so I told them I would come back in the morning. That is what I did. When I arrived on Saturday morning I was referred to George A. England. Mr England told me it would take an hour to program the key, for a cost of $105 plus the key for $43, for a total of $148 plus tax. I said "Yesterday I was quoted 1/2 an hour to program the key. You and I both know it is only going to take 12 minutes. In any event, I was quoted $50 for programming and that is what I agreed to pay." Mr. England agreed to honor the previous days quote. Trying to charge me an hour to program a key: You lose two stars. It is Saturday, and they "run a skeleton crew" so I would have to leave the car. I was staying about 1/3 of a mile away. Mr. Anderson said they could drive me home, but could I get a ride back later on? No, I said, our other car is in the shop so this is our only vehicle. When it is time to pick up the car it will be 100 degrees outside. So, I would rather walk home now and get picked up later when it's HOT. Mr. Anderson agreed to do that. NOTE TO DEALER MANAGEMENT: Try running a full crew on Saturday and a skeleton crew on Monday. Your customers who work will find it more convenient. 3 hours later when the car was done Mr. Anderson called and said they were "Really slammed and they were running a skeleton crew" so could I come back to the dealership myself? I reminded him that I had chosen to walk home with the agreement that they would pick me up when it was 100 degrees, so I would wait for them to pick me up. They called back 10 minutes later and sent the ride. Trying to reneg on the agreement to pick me up: You lose two stars. When I got to the dealership I signed the paperwork and paid them $99. I was left with the distinct impression that Mr. England and the brunette cashier felt scared that I would figure out that they had screwed me. They seemed nervous like thieves caught in the act. I suppose I should blame Toyota. They have created these transponder keys and you can't get a duplicate without going to a dealer. Then they train the dealer to squeeze every nickel out of you that they can. When I picked up my car it was freshly washed. The key they made worked. Washed my car: You get back one star. Summary: The Toyota Dealership charged $45 for a key then charged me $52.50 to program it. I took my Mother-in-laws car to Garage Works at 1425 S. 3rd Ave to fix the AC. He is going to replace the whole AC control unit (all the switches in the dash) and is going to charge me $45 for labor. If you are looking to have your toyota serviced and it is out of warranty, go to Garage Works. I feel I can trust Bill at Garage Works. I wouldn't trust George England with anything. I only used the Toyota Dealership because I had to. read more
