I have lived in Manchester for a very long time, yet this is my first time visiting The Firestone…read more I don't know what took me so long to try this place. It's a painting, an arts and craft, a bakery, and a coffee shop. Great place for friends to get together and spend quality time, with great refreshment. They make their own bread, Cheddar scallion scones, chocolate chip cookies, sandwiches, and many other items. My favorites are the different coffees and teas. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, both with the food service and the arts. What a gem to have on Main Street.

Surprisingly good food in a pottery painting place…read more Been meaning to review this place for a while. Each time I'd go in, see no one around, then left. This last attempt, there was a bunch of staff around so I got the full experience. The staff were very friendly and informative. They explained the pottery painting side of things to anyone painting a piece. They had a wealth of knowledge in that regard, explaining how to get the best results for each medium. I wasn't here for the pottery, I was here for the food. So they sat at a 4 top and let me go up to the cafe to order. The menu is basic, egg sandwiches, avocado toast, French toast, coffees and lattes. Some fresh baked pastries available but mostly simple dishes. I opted for their French toast latte and an egg sandwiches with bacon. Also got a cinnamon roll that was baked that morning. Food came out after a few minutes. Not speedy but not slow. Took some pics and dug in. There's a fundamental rule that I follow when reviewing. "The flavors on the description need to match the flavors of the dish." There's sandwich did this exemplary. The garlic aoli had a strong but slightly acidic bite to it, which helped the arugula's bitterness. The egg was fluffy, the tomato grilled and salted, and the bacon perfectly crispy. The soft home made bread was almost too soft, compressing down to nothing after each bite. If anything, the bread could've been grilled to give it a bit more structure. But besides that gripe, it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The latte, that's what took the star off. The coffee is giv beans, so a good quality product. The problem was it was extremely, overbearingly bitter. With a French toast latte, you'd expect the sweet to counteract the bitter. But nope, the sweet came from the cold foam and the concentrated coffee at the base led to straight sips of cringingly bitter coffee. After mixing the cold foam into the coffee, it became more bearable. But the damage was done by that point, and my pallet was shot. Had to dump most of the coffee. Overall, it's a neat place to go to. It's rare to have activities along with good food, and the staff there make the experience great. Not too much a fan of the specialty coffee, but the food is well worth the price. A solid food choice for Main Street.

Perfectly fine quick breakfast spot…read more Came here on the fly, looking for new breakfast spots and found this one on my feed. The parking situation is a little weird, there's some spots in front or by the side, but they are not really marked well. But there's a lot of spaces for the actual dining space. The inside is simple but clean, lots of seats for the space and a reasonable display for their pastries and donuts. The menu is simple and the options are low. It's very much designed to be a quick breakfast spot. I opted for one of their donuts and a latte, with a French toast platter. Food came out quickly, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was okay. The donut was large, cakey but freshly made. The strawberry frosting was a little heavy on the extract which gave a chemically taste to the frosting, but it wasn't off putting just noticeable. The French toast was slightly undercooked, but I do enjoy custardity bites so it was good enough. The eggs were also underdone, but I just ignored those. The turkey bacon was crisp and the home fries were seasoned very well. Unlike other home fries I have had, these ones actually had flavor. As a breakfast spot, it does well enough for the local crowd. When done properly, the food put out at this location can be good if not great. I'm fairly confident if I made them aware of my issues, they would resolve them without fail. If you need a quick breakfast and happen to be in east hartford near the police station, his place works for that quick meal. It isn't fancy, but it's basic food done right.

Kim, the bartender, is the GM and former GM at Poncho Loco from 7 years ago. She immediately served a nice glass of ice water. The music is nice too. They have an open kitchen. There's quite a few tables too and a patio. The pizza oven is finally installed! For my first drink, I'm having a Peg-Arita made either tequila, Triple Sec, fresh lime, fresh lemon and agave simple syrup. This is quite good! It's nicely garnished and well balanced. For my starter, I'm having the Caesar Side Salad made with romaine lettuce, topped with focaccia croutons, Pecorino Romano cheese and Caesar dressing. This is real good! It's nicely tossed and tastes great!I love the croutons! Good portion too! Out comes the fried spaghetti! They taste like pretzels! They add a bit of salt too. How original! For my next food item, I'm trying the Wings with the sweet and smokey rub seasoning. I don't get to have these very often. I'll need help eating these. I prefer wings with dry rubs. These are good! There a sugary enemy to these. I love the side of carrots and celery with ranch dressing! For my next item, I'm having the Reuben Dog made with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Islands dressing. This is great! I love these chips! These's a lot of them! For my second drink, I'm having the Be Nice Throw It On Ice which is Amsterdam Vodka and a mixer. I'll have orange juice (aha a "Screwdriver"). This is good! Well done! I haven't had I've of these in years! For my next drink, I'm having the Cold Brew Martini made with chilled cold brew, vodka, Kahlua and coffee liqueur. I rarely have this! It is quite good! For my entree, I'm having the Blackened Grilled Chicken Sandwich which is made with cherry peppers, lettuce, tomato, American cheese on a toasted roll. I'm adding jalapeños (lots) and Calabrian chili oil. The mayo is very light! I can have this more often! In place of fries, I'm having a Side Salad made with romaine lettuce, cucumber, red onion, toasted tomato, fennel, Parmesan cheese and red wine vinaigrette. The Side Salad is good! That's a big portion! The croutons are huge! For my dessert, I'm having the Bread Pudding made with warm banana drizzled with chocolate served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Extra whipped cream for me! What a great meal here!

They have an huge assortment of smoothies, salads and you can build your own paninni and wraps and bowls. Sue helped me decide on what type of wrap I wanted, she stated that the the tomato basil is a popular one. I chose chicken for my protein and sweet water mixed greens, red onions, pico da galore and garlic aioli. This wrap was delicious. The chicken was so flavorful and juicy and they don't skimp on your choice of protein. I devoured that wrap and I look forward to returning and enjoying many more items from their menu. (Straight Lines) Sweetwater Salad Bar made a bad experience "good" today when they pivoted and made a great customer service decision. They have a deep menu with all sorts of customizable Smoothies, three kinds of toasts, and Wraps. We went for lunch today and decided on a "to go" order of their Avocado Toast. We paid our $5.84 and waited for the order to be assembled. After a few minutes, a manager approached us to say they couldn't make the avocado toast because they had run out of bread. Now... since you can't really make an Avocado Toast, Peanut Butter Banana Toast, or Hummus Toast without toast, and you can't really make toast without bread, we understood why they couldn't give us the order we had already paid for. But they made things right by offering us something else, so we opted for a chicken quesadilla which we received for no additional charge. The quesadilla was good with a nice mix of chicken and cheese. IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Obviously, inventory management comes to mind, and if they run out of bread, that information should be conveyed to the entire staff so everyone is on the same page about what is and is not available, what can and cannot be made, and what should and should not be paid for.
