Let me start off by saying I really like this restaurant. It has earned a spot in my weekly lunch rotation. The fish is fresh, the employees are friendly and the restaurant is extremely clean. Now here comes the "but." While eating lunch today, not one but two different customers brought their dogs into the restaurant then sat down in the enclosed space with their dogs and ate. One of the customers even had two dogs!!! Not only did the restaurant manager not care, but I saw him petting the animals. The last time I checked it is illegal in the state of California for customers to dine inside with their pets. And these were not service dogs. I have an allergy and I prefer not to have pet hair where I eat. In the future, I hope to have a pet free dining experience and that this restaurant will no longer allow pets inside. read more

This place was pretty good for 3 friends who just finished an amazing hike at Runyon Canyon . We love Poké and I was hoping this new place didn't disappoint us...it didn't! Pretty good price for pretty good food. I got a medium bowl, which contains rice (brown or white) and 3 sides (types of fish/seafood). OH YEA it already comes with seaweed salad and shredded crab meat. Well worth it. I got salmon, tuna, and octopus all mixed with onion and my choice of sauce. They had spicy mayo, sweet and spicy (I think that's what it was called) and other ones. I stuck to my favorite spicy mayo and it was good. They mixed it using their hands and of course a glove over their hands. Staff was great! Since it was my first time and plus the store was pretty new, I suggest that the staff ask the guest if its their first time or not. If it is their first time they should explain how the whole process works on how to get their yummy food. It is easier and you'll feel more comfortable when you know of the menu instead having to guess on how to order your food. Store was great. My friends and I enjoyed the water dispenser that not only dispensed water but ice too!! This store is a little far from where I live so I just hope that the long beach one is as good. But if we do go on another hike at Runyon canyon, we will definitely stop by! read more

I was a little perturbed at the fishy smell walking in - I'm not sure if this is normal as I have not been to a Poke style place before. The fish was sufficiently chilled so I'm guessing it's okay. We got a Medium and the amount of food was sufficient. We used a coupon for 50% off so it was a good deal. Not sure if the crab is real? Looking for our first poke in LA and starving so we gave them a try. The selection ms available we're fine but somewhat limited compared to similar establishments. We ordered a two scoop and a four scoop each of us getting what we liked. All in all it was very good. Portions size was appropriate, service was friendly. But the minus one star comes from three considerations. Firstly the 4 scoop was forced inside a smaller looking container than the 2 scoop, why? Who knows but this made eating it unnecessarily difficult as all the ingredients were hard packed together. Next the flavors were good but not as good as we've had elsewhere. And lastly the tako/octopus was just past it's prime, not bad, not spoiled but flavor wise it obviously should have been pulled. read more

The Poke Bar in Studio City is smart. They are THE ONLY build-your-own poke spot in the whole valley. I went last night with the bf who ordered a bowl of salmon, albacore tuna, and spicy tuna. Everything tasted great. The dining room is very small like most poke spots, but I have to note the distinct smell of this place which was a bit off-putting. I can't pinpoint what exactly the smell is. Perhaps it's the fish, but it could be something else. Okay people I've been to a million poke places and this one is by the THE best. They have the best toppings, the people are nice, and they give you the best portion size. Most places skimp you out on your fish and toppings. But all about poke doesn't! This is also the only poke place I've been to with a stamp card where you buy a certain amount of bowls and get the last one free! It's so worth it since I go so often. There's not a lot of locations for this particular chain, but there is one by my house which is super convenient and makes me very happy. It was sour, fishy, smelly, and lukewarm--totally inedible. I daresay it may be poorly defrosted packaged fish you could get at Walmart...yeah, that bad. The fish is fresh and they mix all the toppings very well. I've come here multiple times. This time I got the spicy tuna, albacore and scallops (all three were so fresh). I went here for the first time today and I can say that I liked it! I love me some poké so I've definitely tried a couple spots around LA, but this is one of the better ones! When you first walk in, there's a 'smell' but nothing terrible. It goes away once you're in there. Like most poké places, it's a Subway or Chipotle style of ordering. I got a medium bowl (3 proteins) with white rice, 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of tuna, green onions, white onions, and cucumbers all tossed in spicy mayo. It also came with seaweed salad and imitation crab meat. It was delicious. The fish was nice and fresh. The staff was very friendly as well! I'm glad I found a good poké place closer to home. So I've been here many times now and it's pretty good. But I have noticed that each time I eat here, the food is slowly getting worse. The portions are great for the reasonable prices. And they have so many toppings that are always fresh! But in my opinion, it seems like the toppings are better quality than the fish itself. The focus of poké flavor is supposed to be on the fish and sauce. The tuna here is decent, but usually it's a light pink color and is just not very good quality. The salmon is usually the best. I've gotten albacore a few times and regret it here. It's dry and has no flavor. I also wish the sauces were tastier. I always get the ponzu. They either don't add enough sauce or its just flavorless. Usually I come here because I get cravings for a poké bowl with mango and edamame. The mango is so ripe and yummy! Plus if you get avocado (it's $1 extra), they give you a really generous portion! They do have a stamp card so when you fill it up, you can get a bowl free. All in all, a good poké spot in the area. BUT for the same amount of money, I would MUCH rather go to 8oz poké down the street in sherman oaks. The fish quality there is 5 times better! read more

I got the large salad (4 scoops) half tuna/half salmon then added my own veggies to the mix. Picked my own sauce which I chose ponzu and spicy mayo. I got the small sized poke bowl which consisted of 2 scoops of rice, 2 choices of fish, and every topping I wanted for free. I chose tuna and salmon and it was fresh. I'm usually picky with what color the fish is. I added tobiko, spicy mayo, green onions, sesame oil, and seaweed to the mix. Those are the usual combos I add when I get poke. It was good, but a bit too saucy. The price was pretty fair I think. I think the 8oz Poke place also on Ventura blvd is better though.
