We have used All American Appliance Service for 2 different appliances in the past year and had a great experience both times. The first was for our HotPoint refrigerator's freezer (was making a horrible noise) and second was for our KitchenAid dishwasher (the upper rack broke). Both times they were able to send someone out within a few days who diagnosed the problem and was able to provide a quote for repair. Like other places around here, they charge a fee (around $90) to come out, but waive it if you use them to fix it. All in all, a trustworthy company and good value. They were able to come out the day after we called them and Pete did a thorough diagnostic of our Maytag Bravo Washing Machine. He explained his findings well to us, did not try to sell us on additional work (although he did provide a cost estimate if we wanted to pursue it), and provided guidance on making the washer last longer. Never again. The technician told me that he was unable to find a replacement for a range fuse and even suggested to maybe buy a new one. I decided to find the fuse myself, so I looked under the range and I was able to find pretty easy the model and took me 3 minutes to call Broan (manufacture) with the Model No and get the fuse part no. They told me I can actually find this fuse in any Home Depot or order it with them and get it by mail. I was very disappointed by this company. We scheduled an appointment to get our dishwasher repaired or if necessary so it would be replaced. The company informed us only that the technician would be here before 12noon and we would receive a call 15 minutes prior to then arriving. We both took off time from work and were busy cleaning the area so the tech would be able to work without too much restriction due to the mess created from the broken dishwasher. The office opens at 8:30am so we were surprised when we noticed the tech had called before 8am. I called the company at 8:30 because they aren't open before then so we had to wait. The response we got is that the tech has moved on to Fairfax and we must reschedule for next week. We were never given a window start time so we are disappointed with this companies poor communication for the appointment time. All that was said to us is the tech would be here before noon. With this logic I suppose the tech could call around 6am and not successfully reach us because we didn't keep watch of any calls before the office open times. This unprofessional loop hole is the kind of business we don't solicit. We've attempted to discuss this with the woman who answered the phone but she was not receptive to the situation. We will not support this company in the future. This is a company issue, not a tech issue so cannot speak about how competent their techs are but would hope good techs reconsider affiliation with a company that has poor customer service practices. read more

I have only good things to say about All American Appliance. I've used them twice and both times, I first contacted a popular company with trucks and vans all over the place but their quote/service fees were astronomical. All American was ready to go both times -- once for my dryer and another time for my fridge. Not only was All American Appliance affordable -- but they were responsive and personable. They came out to the house quickly, diagnosed and repaired the problem efficiently and addressed all of my questions. My washer stopped working and I called this company on a Saturday and left a message. My call was returned within a few hours and I was given an appointment of the following Tuesday between 11am-2pm. Come Tuesday, Corey called around 11 am to let me know he was enroute with a 20 minute eta. He did come when he said he would, he assessed the situation, found the problem and repaired it within a very short amount of time. He was professional and down to earth. Agree with Bob J. review, horrible service. All American arrived at our home to fix an intermittent problem with our washing machine seizing up. Technician removed some socks, a pair of underwear and part of a membership card from the machine and got the machine moving. We started a load in the washer, things seemed to be fine, the technician departed. The "fix" lasted all of 3/4 of a load of laundry before the same problem reoccured. All American's response is that they would send someone out two days later on a work day afternoon which means we have to take half day off of work (they only make appointments for "morning" or "afternoon" with a call 15 minutes prior). We called All American to repair a tenant's water and ice dispenser which they did quickly and efficiently. A few months later it acted up again. They came right back, and it turned out to be a minor totally unrelated item. They fixed it quickly, showed the tenant where the flap from the icemaker that got stuck open was and did not charge us a dime. Plus they are easy going friendly people. I was very disappointed with this company. They came out to fix our dryer, which was making a terrible noise and said their diagnostic test showed nothing was wrong. They said to call if the noise came back, charged me $90 and left. A week later, not only was the dryer making a noise, it was also not emitting any heat. I called to schedule a follow up appointment and was told that my $90 fee from the week before would not be applied to the repair, because this was a "different issue". My best guess is that the squeaky noise was an indication that something was wrong with my dryer - which proved to be true when it stopped emitting heat. Yet because I wasn't able to properly diagnose what was wrong with my dryer - there would not apply the $90 fee from the first visit, in which they did nothing, to the actual repair. This is so dishonest and unethical. They were rude on the phone and wasted a lot of my time by repeatedly putting me on hold. I could care less about the $90 - but don't appreciate their attitude, the hassle and their dishonesty. Never again. read more

I started with my Angie's List search many months ago when the fridge started to act up. Bonnie was quick to reply to emails and answer questions. Due to work travel and family I could not schedule the work, and I hoped it would not need repair. After sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas the fridge finally gave out. I emailed Bonnie and scheduled an appointment in the next opening, Waleed the service tech showed up on time, called ahead as they promised. He was here about 10-20 mins, determined the problem and said he would order part. Part came in I scheduled the install with Bonnie for today. Again they said he would call 30 mins before arriving. He did call and came as promised. Waleed the service tech was very nice, helpful and pleasant to talk with. The fridge came on right away as he said it would and seems to be cooling fine now. He said to call if I had problems. So hopefully I will not have to call, but if there is a problem I am sure they will be on top of it. I cant say enough about them, I prefer emails vs calling and Bonnie was very responsive via email. Waleed who determined the problem and then installed the new part was great to talk with, knowledgeable and has a positive attitude (which is great to see) I work in sales and with a lot of people and it difficult to keep the smile on your face and positive attitude as he did. My freezer started with some very serious ice build-up earlier this year that required me to clean it out weekly or else deal with water all over my kitchen's hardwood floors. I finally got around to getting it fixed and I chose to call All American Appliance Service after reading good reviews on Angie's List. I called and was easily able to schedule an appointment that was convenient for me. Waleed was the tech who showed up. He diagnosed the problem and was able to get to fixing it right away. I didn't pay close attention but I think he was in and out within about 45 minutes. He also did a nice job cleaning up around where he did the work which I appreciated. So far it has been 3 days and there has been zero ice build up so I think the fix is good to go. I would call on them again if I ever need something else. read more

Seriously annoyed. I called them on a Friday, told them exactly what the problem was, exactly what the part was. They sent out a technician to check, who said I was right, they needed to order the part, and that it would be in between 2-5 business days. They did not call back to let me know that the part was on back order, so when I called THEM, they told me it would be another week and scheduled me "for Thursday." They did not give me a time. Having still no idea when they'd get there, I went into work early on Thursday and was home by 11, since last time it was 12-4. Evidently they'd called while I was at work to say they were there (with again, no time). When I called back within 20 minutes, I was told that it was too late, and they could schedule me for another week out. Oh, and that I was wrong and they ALWAYS tell people a time (I assure you, they certainly did not). An according to yelp, I'm NOT the only one who was not told a time, and the woman on the phone was nasty about it. With zero apology for the inconvenience - or even admission that they made a mistake - I was then told that this was entirely my fault. We are now looking at going on several weeks to fix a washing machine pump. Evidently I'm fortunate that they can come back... in another week. ETA: It's hilarious that the owner of this business came on to announce that she is right and her customers are wrong. read more

Have used this company twice and both times I thought the price/performance ratio was great. This last time I had a dryer which had a door switch break and a dishwasher which was clogged and needed some minor repair. Parts had to be ordered -but as soon as they arrived they were able to meet me at the condo and the fix went smoothly. I got All American as a recommendation from a neighbor in my building, and I would definitely call them again. All American Appliance Services - the REAL one and not the identity thieves - are excellent. They came twice to give our troublesome fridge a thorough once-over (twice-over?). Even though they recommended a new fridge the first time, they did not charge for the second visit to investigate further and exhaust all alternatives (incidentally, they would have been able to repair the problem, but against their own interests they actually recommended not wasting any more money/effort on the current fridge). They were prompt, attentive, and reassuring. They were able to get us on the schedule fairly quickly. Each engineer called to let us know when he was close by so I could leave the office and meet him at our house. The second engineer gave us a great education on how to buy our next fridge which left us more empowered. I would hire them again and have recommended them to our neighbors. Our freezer was leaking water from the bottom and creating a sheet of ice at the bottom of the freezer. While you-tube and Google offer helpful advice and how-to videos, we decided this was beyond our capabilities and would certainly require more effort than we wanted to exert. We called All American and they scheduled an appointment. The technician, Roy, called to let me know he was on the way. He arrived, told me what the problem was, and fixed it quickly and efficiently. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for appliance repair. I am reluctantly posting, but I have tried through repeated emails with the owner to agree to a settlement but she was unwilling to bend. I had a dishwasher that just stopped pumping the wash water, though it would still drain, so I thought it would be worthwhile to get it fixed. The service guy came out, and did just about absolutely nothing to earn my money. He didn't use a single tool (other than a screwdriver to take off the kick plate), didn't test any wires, motors, solenoids, etc. And he didn't pull the dishwasher out for any type of analysis. All he did was push the start button, listen for a few minutes, tell me he didn't really know what it was but probably the main pump assembly, and wrote up a $365 repair ticket based on seemingly nothing more than a hunch. Certainly not worth the $69 repair call. He couldn't even get the dishwasher into diagnostic mode, which would seem to be the most basic thing a repairman would do. I called and repeatedly emailed Bonnie to register my displeasure, and even offered to pay $30 for their time instead of the $69 which this company certainly did not earn. Every step of the way she has been unhelpful so I am forced to write this review unfortunately. If you have any doubts, just wait to see how she responds to this post. Every time I have used them, they have been professional, fair, honest and accommodating to my needs. I have used their services at least 3 times on different appliances and they are consistently good. This company in Springfield, VA is excellent. Just had a terrific experience with All American Appliance. The customer service was great, and we had to deal with them a few times as a part had to be ordered from LG. They were one of the few local companies who serviced LG (due to local parts not being available). They called as soon as the part arrived. Our technician, Mark, was a true professional. He always called ahead, and spent lots of time making sure our problems were solved. We had them service two fridges, one with an ice maker than never worked (does now!), and the other just died (needed new circuit board). I would highly recommend this company! read more

Evaluated the problem while talking with me. I asked him if it was worth saving or should I buy a new refrigerator. He said definitely cost effective to fix. Disappointing service today. Technician was supposed to call when 30 minutes away. I have no message on my phone from anyone saying this was my 30 minutes call ahead. The technician apparently showed up and left a tag to say we would have to reschedule. When I called the office they had the wrong number associated with my file (a 757 area code number that is nothing to do with me). Technician said to office he had made contact with a man (on the 757 number ) to say he was on his way. All I asked of the receptionist, after the obvious miscommunication by their office, was a return visit that was still within my window frame today of 12-3. The receptionist was rude and insisted the number with the file was the number called as instructed, instead of saying that the number was incorrectly noted on the file and sorry!! The next available appointment offered was 5 days later. After asking to be passed to the manager I was put on hold and no one picked up for over 5 minutes so I moved on. I have referred this company to other people in the past but I was so disappointed by the service today that I am looking for another company to use. I called another company in the area and they can come out tomorrow morning for a lower diagnostic charge and with a very courteous person on the other end of the phone. read more
