Tony, the founder of All in 1, is a very hands-on guy. I found him via Yelp, and he was clearly the most thorough and straightforward response to my request for a quote. All in 1 does business differently than other movers I've dealt with. He gave me several options for the packing phase - a fixed price, or a price per hour, or per box. As a result, I saved a few hundred bucks compared with every other quote I got. Also, I bought my own boxes, and he just credited me for the cost. No hassle at all. Finally, he stood by his price for the move, even though my 1-bedroom house filled his 2-bedroom sized truck. That's a situation where an unscrupulous company would try to take advantage. Made an appointment with Sylvia on Dec 28th for a move on January 8th at 9:30am. At 9:31am On my move day, I called Sylvia and asked where the movers were. I was informed that that had shut down due to a COVID related issue and she apologized for not contacting me ahead of the scheduled move and that she would contact Tony to see what they could do...Haven't heard a peep since then. I get the COVID thing but what I don't get is why they DID NOT CONTACT ME AHEAD OF TIME. This has put us in crisis mode due to scheduling. Sylvia scheduled a date and requested that I read, sign and return their Terms of Agreement. She indicated the flat rate was all that I would pay, but noted any item not listed on the Bill of Lading would incur an additional cost of $200. Boxes not ready for transport cost an additional $10. Furniture not listed on the checklist cost an additional $25 per item. You are responsible for the disassembly/assembly of Ikea furniture. TV's had to be packed in original boxes, or in a box purchased from a suggested retailer. Wardrobe boxes were not included so that would be an additional cost. I don't have a car so it would have been difficult to pick up the necessary boxes, or move items that the company would not. In addition, it was my responsibility to cover the floors and carpet. I emailed Sylvia that I had read the Agreement and decided not to use their service. There were incidental costs hidden in the Terms that would have exceeded the flat rate. So I chose another mover who provides full service including wardrobe boxes and floor coverings. There are no incidental costs so I know exactly what I'm going to pay, and not be surprised when the job is done. If you have a car and are able to move your clothes, and other loose or miscellaneous items then it might work for you, but understand that you could pay more than the flat rate under the Terms of Agreement. read more
