This is just about the sushi. We got... 5 rolls to split between the two of us. The presentation in the large plastic box (we got takeout) was quite pretty. We absolutely loved the Spicy Tuna Rolls. They're definitely different than what I'm used to expecting, but they were really quite good. We also enjoyed the Rising Sun roll. Basically, this review all turns on the All Seasons roll and the Philadelphia roll. I expected more from the All Seasons roll, a roll with tuna, cream cheese and mango slices. However, I never got the taste of the mango. Then, the Philadelphia roll just had this fishiness about it which the cucumber and cream cheese seemed not able to overcome. We'll try again, but this time I think we'll dine in. On another note, when we called to place our takeout order, the person on the phone gave us neither how long before we should come to pick up our order or how much the order cost. read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem. My friend and I came around 1pm for lunch and we were seated immediately. The atmosphere is welcoming and our waitor came to our table to introduce himself as well as recommending dishes to us. The choice of music is fun and upbeat. Everything is decorated nicely! Anyways, we ordered a Roti Canai for appetizer, shirmp tempura, and the mango duck with eggplant! Mmmmmm the roti was deff my favorite and a must try. Usually my first thought with "Asian Fusion" is one ethnic style is bound to suck - usually the Sushi. Not so at All Seasons! The sushi here is awesome, and what a surprise in Malden. I've eaten here frequently since it's opening, and continue to pray for their success. This is hands down the best sushi I've ever had outside of the city. Great quality fish, frequent specialties (toro, live scallop, etc.), and the chef is creative and artistic. I highly advise ordering a standard package (sashimi meal, boat, etc.), and then just asking the chef to do whatever he wants. You'll be surprised and pleased with the results. And, yes, the Chinese here is also top quality. This would be a great place to take a date. The environment is upscale (and very feng shui), and the staff is professional. I went here on a Friday night with a group and it was extremely busy. Fortunately when we got there a table was being cleaned up and we were seated 5 mins after. The atmosphere was nice and I loved the live jazz music that was playing, it fit the restaurant nicely. Too bad we were seated on the other side of the restaurant so I wasn't able to watch the band play. The waitress was nice and helpful but the service was slow. The appetizer took over an half hour to come out and another 30 to 45 minutes for the main entree. For appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari, it was more boiled than fried but it wasn't bad. For the main course I had the Sushi Regular combo and I wasn't impressed at all by it. The sashimi was not fresh and it was lukewarm. For that quality, $18.95 was not worth it. I could get the same Sushi Regular combo for cheaper at a different restaurant and it would taste more fresh. I'm guessing that sushi is not exactly their specialty. I wanted to order some dessert but after the disappointing (and expensive) main entree, I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes or so for dessert. I would come back and give it another try just for the live jazz band but I would definitely order something else that is not sushi related. read more

A serious Malden gem, All Seasons Table would only be top-tops if it were slightly less expensive. The menu spans many woks* of Asian cuisine (*oh god, I hate myself). The Chinese food here is particularly devastating - Mongolian Beef, I'm looking at you. And the Chinese Hot & Sour soup is not to be missed. It rivals my absolute fave H&S soup from Great Chow in Quincy. So I'd been a few times for the Chinese - but during my last eyebrow waxing, my aesthetician and I were chatting about my hood and she mentioned an excellent sushi joint. "In Malden? Are you sure?" I inquired. "Yeah!" she was pretty pumped about it. "All Seasons Table. It was so worth it." I was skeptical, though I'm not sure why, cause everything I'd ever had there was so delightful. So one evening, me + my fella did some recon. Eat as Much Sushi as Possible. Mission: Accomplished. We ordered an assortment of makis and hand rolls and sashimi. The spicy tuna hand roll was criminal. Fella particularly enjoyed the tempura soft shell crab maki. Oh me. Oh my. It was gruesome. We racked up quite a bill. Was it worth it? Yes. Were there any survivors? Hardly. We had to ask the hostess to roll us out of there. Luckily it was an icy evening, so we just slid on home. read more

So I live and eat by this rule called "The Pizza House Rule." Named for The Pizza House, in Ann Arbor, this rule was established by my husband and I circa 2009, and it has never failed me. Bottom line, if you go to a place called Pizza House, you order their pizza, not stuff like their wraps. Or if you go to an Indian restaurant, you order their biryani, not their burgers. So here, when you go to a pan-Asian place (though it may not be named Pan-Asian Place), you don't order every lamb dish on their menu, since lamb is not typically a major part of pan-Asian cuisine (unless you're talking about Indian food, which this place does not serve). We ordered every lamb dish in the restaurant because we found out their lamb was halal. Big mistake. The food was eh. The ambience was nice; it was good for a large group; the service was fast and friendly. The food was just not great, especially the lamb dishes (which might be my own fault in light of The Pizza House Rule). read more

Najely S., so glad you liked AST's decor. The owner's GF is an interior designer, and I agree with you; she has a wonderful eye! I too was transported far away from Malden Center upon entering the restaurant. I actually strolled around the entire place after dinner just to see all the neat stuff in the place. Next, PC W. - the roti canai that you love so much at Penang? Well, guess what? The head chef at AST is originally from Malaysia and previously worked at....Penang! So your comparison is spot-on. I did not try the roti at AST, but I'm game to try next time, because I love Penang's roti probably as much as you do! I see this restaurant as catering to two distinct crowds. First, there's the bar. I am not a drinker, but I observed everyone having a great time interacting with the staff. Some of AST's patrons only come for the drinks! This tells me that the restaurant can be enjoyed beyond just the dining experience. Want to watch the game? There are HD TVs front and center. But if you're only coming for the drinks, that would be a shame, because the food at AST is as good as all the other Yelpers are saying it is. I went on Xmas for dinner, and the food was outstanding. We had a variety of dishes, and nothing disappointed. If you're a foodie who likes Asian fusion, put this place on your list! There is live music (jazz) on certain nights of the week, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a little entertainment as well. Bottom line: check this place out now before everyone finds out about it!!! This restaurant is poised to blow up as one of the "it" spots in '08 for the Greater Boston area. A review for this place is long over due for me, I'm just lazy when it comes to these things. The sushi here is amazing, plain and simple. In fact, that's the only thing I've ever ordered, besides apps, and of course booze. That's the reason I go here though, sushi... delicious, addictive, wallet molesting sushi, and few places do it better. I believe you can test the 'metal' "--" of sushi joint with the basics, nigiri or sashimi, but I think the former has a bit more to offer. All the various rolls typically don't work, since you can hide some imperfections in saucy awesomeness. This place is so super consistent with there sushi prep, say that three times fast. The fish is always fresh, always the right temp, always the right grade and the rice is cooked, seasoned, and packed perfectly. In the words of Randy Marsh "Ya, fucking money." I've been here too many times to keep track of, and they've never let me down. I've also gone to just about all of the highly rated places around and well known places while traveling, and this little place in the burbs of Boston can keep up with the best of them. Also, it's not cheap, but great sushi never is. For food, drinks, and atmosphere, I'd give All Seasons 5 stars, but the no-reservations-for-parties-less-than-six and the 10-20 people clustered inside the door waiting for a table just intimidates me. In the literal sense. Standing in a crowd as you vie for a seat at the bar is just so desperate and unappealing. Luckily for me, my vie eye was on its game that night and we did grab two seats at the bar, so we decided to eat there. Drinks were perfectly strong -- major kick but still yummy. Great sushi -- the all seasons maki was delish! Miso soup was perfect, salad was good but I prefer a creamier ginger dressing. None of the food disappointed AT. ALL. Service at the bar was a LITTLE slow but not bad. Didn't feel rushed to leave at all. Total bill wasn't bad, just over $100 for 3 drinks each, soup, salad, and an entree for each of us. Every time I write a review about a Chinese restaurant, I feel the need to reiterate that I come from a family that has owned Chinese restaurants for decades, and I know good Chinese take-out when I have it. So, yet again, I am re-iterating that point :-) This place is the bomb diggity. From the moment I walked in and saw the funky interior, I was totally digging it. White tablecloths, dim lighting, extensive bar, jazz band in the corner... everything about this place sent good vibes up and down my body. The menu is extensive and varied. The first half of it is all sushi, sashimi, etc., The rest of it, or the "cooked" menu, as I like to call it, is incredibly diverse. It contains dishes and flavors from not just China, but all over Asia. There's a mix of Thai, Malaysian and different varieties of Chinese cuisine in there. Whether you are a meat lover, vegetarian, or whatnot, you will find something to love. Each time I've come here, my friends and I have shared The Sampler -- that's their version of a Pu Pu Platter. They have all sorts of goodies on there - crab rangoon, chicken wings, teriyaki, spareribs, spring rolls, etc. It is large enough to share with a group of four. Everything that I have ever gotten there has been delicious. The food is freshly prepared, piping hot, and perfectly seasoned. The sushi is OK -- I am not a sushi lover, but I have had a few things, and while the quality is not on par with some of the better sushi places in Boston, it is not bad at all. The one complaint I have is the service -- it is a tad on the slower side. The food took a while to come out, the servers were polite, but not overly friendly, and they did not check in often. I like it when my water glass is always full, and I always found myself having to ask for things like water, hot sauce, etc. Oh, and major props to the jazz band that was there two of the times that I went (and one time, a female singer joined them). It's not often I see a jazz band at an Asian place, so that was a great and welcomed change of pace. It provided for a more delightful dining experience, but the music wasn't so loud and annoying that I couldn't enjoy my meal and the company of my friends. read more

I started coming to All Season's Table around the time when it first opened. It was shocking to walk into such a beautiful tranquil place, especially after knowing what the venue looked like prior to the restaurant opening. As beautiful as the decor is, the food is so much better. I would agree with Wayne D who reviewed as well, that the Spicy Tuna Appetizer is ultra amazing......the tempura flakes create such a nice balance with the texture of the tuna. I would and could eat that every day and not ever get sick of it. I always order the Crazy Summer Roll as well. I highly recommend the steamed shumai and the Unagi. I have never had anything less than a perfect meal here. The bar is gorgeous and flowing with some very decent martini's,and imported beers and wine. I'm not a huge sake fan, but I hear from my friends that it's always been really delicious as well. I love to sit at the bar when possible.......or the sushi bar. Did I mention the live jazz ? One of the very cool things about the restaurant is that there are large flat screen televisions by the bar area and a sporting event is always on. It's on mute though, so you can hear the music and full band. This seems to keep everyone happy. This place is very well staffed, and everyone is so accommodating. This place came highly recommended, so I finally went here for the first time last week. My initial impression was clouded by the fact that we apparently went into the "music" side of the place. The band was so loud I could barely hear myself think. After requesting a quieter table, we were taken to the other side (apparently the "non-music" side) of the place. Much nicer. Then we ordered. Both dishes we ordered were supposed to be 'hot & spicy' but neither were. More like a slight hint of spice. One was borderline bland. In addition, we asked for brown rice, at which time we were informed that brown rice was an additional $1. Fine, we said. Food comes out, and bingo! no brown rice. When we point this out, we are given a side of brown rice, which was fine. But, I mean if you actually take the time to tell us it's $1 more, how about actually bringing it? Drinks were overpriced (wait, we're in Malden, right?), but decent. All in all very disappointing. Won't be going back. read more

All Seasons Table is great. The lunch specials are excellent - they are usually cheap, fresh and delicious. Earlier this week, the sautéed chicken and bamboo with green pepper and white rice was tasty. The lunch specials come with either hot and sour soup or wanton soup and either spring rolls, dumplings or shumai. Cold water, prompt service, good looks. Three weeks ago, lamb in black pepper sauce with sautéed vegetables, rice and same choice of accompaniments as above. I look forward to eating while I can have a beverage as well. The hot and sour soup is thick, hearty and not too spicy. I have had the sashimi combo (absolutely satisfactory), spring rolls, calamari, shumai and tempura and a couple extra entrees as well. I've heard from many people that this place is great but didn't realize how amazing it truly is until I finally tried it! The restaurant is huge! We came in on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. From the moment we sat down we received top notch service; our water glass was never less than half full, our server was attentive and the food was amazing! We each ordered a sushi roll for an appetizer. The sushi was so fresh tasting and definitely up there with the best that I've ever had! My boyfriend ordered the General Tso's chicken which he raved about! I ordered a tofu eggplant and spicy garlic sauce dish which was amazing! The food was filling but not like normal Asian food where I'm starving an hour later and feel so gross! I cannot wait to come back! read more

I live nearby and had heard about a 'fancy' asian restaurant opening in Malden. I have eaten there 4-5 times (take out and at the restaurant) and have only been disappointed with two dishes that I have tried: the General Gau's shrimp (felt like shrimp dumplings in sweet and sour sauce from the food court) and the asian grilled eggplant appetizer (there wasn't enough there...). Everything else I have tried off their fairly extensive menu has been outstanding, from the crab rangoon to the Thai drunken noodles, to the Sushi Rolls. Their drinks menu was equally extensive and impressive. I noticed recently that they have flights of sake. Must try that soon! The ambience is very nice and the waitstaff is extremely friendly and attentive. Highly recommended! read more

The place really knows how to mess up a filet mignon. I didn't go in there planning to order such a dish but it was a special that day. It came out covered in some sauce. Terrible service..waitress was eating at a table in between our table service..I had to flag her down to get a drink... my drink had so much ice by the time my drink was gone the ice was so compacted in the cup that it was still leveled to the top rim of my glass . Which is an indication of how much liquid was in the glass..: next to none... when i spoke to the waitress about it she offered a bunch of excuses no action taken ... finally my salad comes out wrong, again it's a job to flag down our server so another waitress comes over and at this point the manager is involved, by this time i already started writing my yelp review... now they are all over the table trying to help me employees that I didn't even know were working were coming out from the back amazing what yelp can do. The problem is, it's that it's just a little to late. Theses things should matter before you see the customer customer writing the Yelp review not during ..... sorry, now it is, what it is!! A live jazz trio Thursday through Saturday, decent wait staff, and attentive and friendly bartenders. For a sushi joint, the prices are to be expected. You're paying for high-quaility sushi and asian-fusion, and high-quality cocktails. As far as sushi goes, I've yet to find any place that truly compares. read more

A MUST TRY! I go often. The food is fantastic. Every once in a while I am there when there is live jazz and it's done at levels to really enjoy a meal to. It is a relaxed, but classy, decor that set the mood for a fabulous visit every time. The service is excellent. On one visit, my date and I decided that we were going to go to a movie after dinner and didn't know which theater was closest. We asked our waiter but he didn't know. Without us asking, he took the time to ask the hostess. She came over and asked what we were planning on seeing and we told her the film we had in mind. After discussing films for a minute she let us know she would be right back. She came back with the nearest theater, a list of movie times and directions. Unheard of service these days. read more

I can't believe I lived in Malden for a year and never went to this place. I got so distracted by Exchange St Bistro that I failed to notice any other restaurants in downtown Malden. Thankfully, I have several friends who now live in Malden and they showed me the light. Walking down Pleasant St, you wouldn't expect to find a place this chic, but this place is beautiful on the inside, very clean, white, and modern looking with just the right amount of Asian art/decor thrown in. Next time I go I'll try to remember to take photo or two and upload them to Yelp. The menu here is pan Asian, covering all the standard Chinese dishes you'd expect to see from a takeout place (General Gau's and sesame chicken, crab rangoons, etc.), sushi, some other Japanese dishes, some Thai, and even a few things with the word Malaysian in the name. They may be a little more focused on the Chinese and sushi than anything else, but you can at least get a taste of something different if you'd like. On my latest venture here, I started things off with a spicy tuna roll. The pieces were generously sized and I liked that it was not dripping in spicy mayo all over the top like they do at some places. We followed up sushi with the special spicy edamame. I could eat this things all day. I don't recall them being fiery hot, but they were certainly much more interesting than regular edamame with salt. As a final appetizer (yes, we're still on appetizers here...it was a hungry night), the tempura veggies were great. Yes, it's battered and fried, but they tasted light and were not greasy at all. Finally, it's entree time for which we chose the sesame chicken. Normally, I try to get something a little more exotic if I'm at a nice Asian restaurant, as generally, I don't find fancy Asian-fare to be any better than standard takeout, but my companion this night wasn't exactly an adventurous eater, so we stuck to something we knew we'd both like. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this sesame chicken was way better than any takeout place. On the side, we had Fragrant Rainbow Vegetables, or the gay veggies as my queer friend and I referred to them. The veggies were crisp and fresh and overall the dish was decent, but not very flavorful. Cocktails were generously sized and didn't break the bank. I remember enjoying the Tokyo-politan on my first visit here and this time we decided to try the scorpion bowl. The Scorpion bowls are big, pack a punch, and come with unnecessarily long straws. Several times I thought I was going to lose an eye on that thing. We noticed that our second bowl was stronger than our first, as evidenced by the different color. Service was polite and attentive. They did a great job manicuring the table so we weren't surrounded by empty plates, etc., and from what you've read, clearly we emptied many a plate. The only down fall in service was the lag between appetizer and entree being served, but at that point, we kind of needed some digestion time anyways. So far, AST is 2 for 2 in my book. We had a really disappointing experience at All Seasons the other day, on our anniversary, and I don't think we'll be back. Our waiter was, frankly, obnoxious. It was like he felt like he had to upsell EVERYTHING. He suggested apps, I ordered something else, and then he'd ask me if I was sure I didn't want the special. Nope, that's why I ordered what I ordered! We ordered drinks; I ordered an espresso martini. Creamy based drinks hurt my stomach, so I always clarify - Is this made with baileys or any kind of creamy liquor? Our waiter said no, our espresso martini isn't creamy, it's just espresso vodka and Kahlua. Great. Ordered it and it came out creamy. Hubby ordered an extra dry martini. What came out was one of the dirtiest martinis he has ever had. He sent it back and the drink that he received the second one was the right one. Our apps came out and were good, but we just got edamame and fresh spring rolls. Next, hubby ordered the Grilled Filet Mignon with rice and chinese broccoli. He was expecting a nice large piece for Grilled sirloin for $28. Maybe we should have asked more about the dish, but what came out was definitely not what he thought he ordered. It was chinese broccoli with steak slices, absolutely smothered in some sort of bean sauce with rice on the side. So much sauce, you couldn't even taste the steak or the broccoli. It was not even close to being worth $28. It really should have been a $15 dish at best. I ordered sushi. To the watier's defense, he did try to upsell me on the "bigger plate" which I declined (at that point I was really just sick of him questioning everything I ordered). I paid $19 for 10 small pieces of sushi. The value for their sushi is horrible. The sushi was just ok. I'm not sure why anyone would go here for sushi when there are places like Ocean Sushi up the street. I wish I knew that before we came here. At Ocean, for $22 you can get a huge plate of some of the freshest sushi you'll ever eat. It was our 9th anniversary and we were looking for a special night out. Recently I met a friend here for a girl date. She loves this place and this day it was her second visit due to her building being evacuated. I can see why she loves it! The wait for a table was a bit long, but it WAS a Friday night. The service was great, super friendly and attentive. We both had speciality drinks from the decent martini menu. Both were served with lychee fruit, which was a nice touch. We came for sushi and BOY did we have some. All of it was delicious and fresh. We really liked the True Love and Dragon Maki best. This was truly a three-and-a-half job but my general disdain for restaurants with horribly generic names (All Seasons Table? Weak.) swings the pendulum left. In terms of ambiance, it's kind of an odd vibe. The super-white walls are never a good choice but something about the space (whether the overall layout or the nearly wall-length bar) is very comfortable. It's definitely an upgrade over what one would expect from the name (again) and the unappealing street-front facade. The menu is a huge thumbs-down. I'm instantly nervous when there are, seemingly, hundreds of choices. Quantity comes at the sacrifice of quality, generally, as a chef is going to be lucky if he can remember each entree, let alone perfect it. Furthermore, what's this Pan-Asian garbage? Do the Far Eastern set have such a low opinion of the Western round-eyes? Can we not tell the difference between Chinese, Thai, Korean, Polynesian, et al and let our preferences lead us to each respective establishment? The waitress was just 'eh'. Her command of the English language was just shy of serviceable (though notably better than my Mandarin) and she didn't have (or wouldn't offer) any insight on the menu items. Still, she endured the general torture of waiting on Rune and looked reasonably attractive (for yellow, my least favorite flavor) while doing so. That night's bartender wasn't the greatest. When a man is willing to shrivel his scrotum and suffer two hours of mockery by his peers by ordering an espresso martini, that thing had better rock. It didn't. The expected fruity rum-based cocktail that followed, however, was delicious and appreciably-boozy. The food was pretty solid. Two of us shared a scallops appetizer while waiting for our (perennially-tardy) third. Quite a generous portion. I braved a poorly-described lobster stir fry for an entree and -- while it was not at all what I was expecting -- it was damn good (if requiring a great deal of labor). I'm due for a return visit and -- while an unrepentant fan of instant judgment -- will see if I can find the other half of that fourth star. read more
