This place is the definition of mediocre. I wasn't impressed with anything at all. The meat quality is poor, and they cut it into such tiny pieces that I kept losing it in my soup. The sides all had a weird aftertaste like they'd been left our all day. The tteokboki and karrage chicken weren't even warm. Even the sauces had weird, funky flavors to them, especially the peanut sauce and the ponzu. It's clear they tried to cut corners wherever they could to save money. The atmosphere is also awful, it's so dark and the kitchen is clearly visible from the side bar. They didn't even bother to cover up the ceiling, all the beams and vents and pipes are visible. It looks dirty and sloppy. I guess if you want a lot of food for a cheap price then go, but don't expect anything quality. I can't think of one thing I liked about the food, except maybe the soft serve machine. read more

Yummy shabu place! There's so much variety in what you can get. Most of the AYCE shabus I've been to do not offer seafood but this place does! And this place offers a good selection of greens. The AYCE here is very nicely priced. It's around $24~ for weekday lunch and this price includes the meats (beef, pork, and chicken) and seafood and veggies! It also includes the bar which has hot foods (ie fried chicken), rice and noodles, sauces, and drinks! Overall, the price is very worth it. The dinner price is slightly more expensive but also offers more meat (more beef and lamb). The beef quality was yummy. There's a limit of 3 plates of meat at a time per table so it might be hard to get full quick if you have a lot of people in your party. The beef was super yummy. You just get it yourself. For broth, I mix the beef bone and the spicy. It's super good! It's less spicy which is the way I want it. I just want a little kick! For the meats, you have to order but it's super quick in my experience. You can only order 3 at a time. There's always someone coming by and checking if you need meat. The meats always look/taste super fresh!! Customer service is always great! So nice and quick! They really pay attention to your table if you don't have meat or not. In comparison to the ones around the area, its 3.5 to 4 stars but in comparison to the ones in OC, its solid 3. In comparison to local ones, this would be a hot spot due to the facts its an AYCE, they offer side dish items, drinks included, have a few hot food items plus soft serve. In comparison to the others or the All that Shabu in Irvine, its not the same. The one in Irvine is much better. Meat quality is better there and they also have my fish fillets which they didn't have here. They have popcorn chicken here but i preferred the bone in that they have in OC. Not many are compliant here with the use of gloves which can be quite scary, then again some don't know about it and staffs did not endorse to customers of any directions. I only knew because in OC, they were more serious about it and made sure customers knew the rules when going to get their items at the bar. Still not a bad place for a quick fix if you don't want to drive down to OC. But i would rather take the trip that way whenever possible than come to this location. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but I did not enjoy my experience here. The service really lacked. I understand that it's self-serve for everything, but no one checked in on us. Waited maybe about 30mins before asking about our first round order of meats and another server told us that our server didn't even input our order in the system. When she came I asked if we could order another round already because it took so long to get she didn't even take accountability and just blamed it on the meat grinder. After ordering our second round we never saw our waitress again. We had to ask another server for our bill. Also, the broths were lacking flavor. It just wasn't a good meal. The only thing I liked was the concept that everything was self serve with lots of options. Extra star for that. read more

A new spot for Shabu which didn't disappoint. The place allows for you to go and fetch your greens and noodles and cook items from the bar and the meats are served to you. It's pretty much all gone back to pre-Covid times. They do offer special gloves to put on to handle the tongs at the bar. Everything is self serve except the meats which you order three servings at a time. The quality of meats are pretty good. The one thing that was a disappointment were the broths. It was either too bland or too salty, but I think as they kept refilling our pots more salts in the initial pour found it's way into our pots which in most circumstances stop us from eating more if that makes sense. I wanted to love this restaurant soooo badly... unfortunately after multiple chances my group and I decided somewhere between 2-3 stars Pros: - wait time was 1 hour, ended up getting seated within 45 minutes - large restaurant - meat quality was good - large parking lot - fried chicken was pretty good! Veggies were fresh - spicy beef broth was my favorite, good rich flavor Cons: - no waitlist option to call you when your name is called, so you just have to linger and hope for the best - employees are rude, (they seem stressed and overworked though so maybe this is a management issue) - you can only order 3 meats initially as a full order, then they give you a half order for the rest of your orders after. On one hand, maybe this helps with food waste, but with a group of 4 we were only able to have 2 slices of meat per person and then you have to wait forever for a waiter to come by to order more. Only 1-2 waiters were actually helpful, (thankful for the female waitress with long black hair and a pony tail, you're the mvp) - ended up ordering almost 10 rounds -- more work for waiters -- more waiting for us to finally eat meat - ice cream machine was out of order towards the end of the night - not enough supplies for bowls and sauces being refilled - coke machine was out of syrup Wouldn't come back again. Definitely needs better management so their employees don't feel so overwhelmed and can provide better service + able to refill stations when dishes and food/sauces are empty. First time trying an AYCE Shabu/Hot Pot spot. Meeting family over the holidays and I am from out of town. This place was very clean and a very large space with patio dining option. We caught the timing just right and seated immediately, but it did take a few minutes for a wait staff person to greet us and take our soup order, but not at an annoying level, they are fairly busy. Just note that there is a time limit. The fresh veggie selection is pretty good and the seafood selection is fairly vast. There is a good meat selection to order from too. The staff is pretty attention on getting meat orders in and delivering quickly. The only recommendation I would have is to advise what meat item is what or a way to identify what meat is what. Once all the meat is set on the table, no one knows what is what. Everything tasted pretty good. I highly recommend this location. read more

Idk why I thought it was a good idea to try it again but my experience was terrible. The food bar looked old, limited options, and some even tasted funny. Customer services wasn't better either, the entire 90mins I was there, the staff did not once come up to us. It seemed like I was chasing the staff just to get an order going (idk if this is how they avoid the "AYCE" portion) but the service was terrible. I've never had hot pot and have always wanted to try and I honestly have to say it was really good. So good that I came back 2 days later to have it again! I love the spicey beef broth. It had tons of flavor, the first time I went my friend picked the mushroom broth and I had that spicey beef broth and she ate more from my hot pot because she believed it had more flavor, two days later I got it again and my boyfriend had the beef broth and also said it had more flavor, the service was great! I definitely enjoyed the waiters coming by seeing that we needed more soup base and more meat every chance we needed. I loved the buffet style of veggies and sea food. I'm someone who will keep asking for veggies and sometimes I feel like I bother the waiters too much so having a buffet style for veggies was a great touch. They also have an unlimited drink bar with unsweetened green and black tea plus a soda fountain. They have all of the seafood, veggies, and the cooked Korean foods self serve buffet style like japchae, fried chicken, tteokbokki, cabbage kim chi, cucumber kim chi, Korean potato salad, pickled radish, pickled onions & garlic. Tons of seafood which includes small crabs for dinner, scallops, clams, squid, multiple varieties of fish cakes and fish balls, fish, crawfish, shrimp and mussels. The veggies are fresh and fully stocked as well. Meats are cut very thin which I actually prefer for shabu shabu style. We tried almost all of the beef options. My favorite was the filet. But they were all good for the price. There is a nice self serve sauce bar with many options to keep it interesting. My favorite sauces were the sesame and the wasabi ponzu. Saw that this new shabu place opened up so I decided to bring my little brother and a friend of mine to give it a try. They give you 5 different broths to choose from so I got the Spicy Beef while my brother got the Beef Broth. Honestly the broth was pretty bland and not even close to being spicy, I feel like there's so much more flavor in a packet ramen broth... They're a buffet style for side dishes and hot foods while the meats are ordered through the servers. You have up to 11 types of meats to choose from for dinner and weekends. All meats are thinly slice which is nice for quick cooking. The meats are just meats, nothing really special nor really stood out like other shabu places. Also I'm usually able to eat lamb but when I tried this place it had such a strong gamey taste that I couldn't even eat it. It's funny that they call their hot foods "hot" because they're all basically all cold, barely even warm. The "karaage" was 80% batter and 20% chicken and 100% rock hard... I would honestly just skip out on their hot foods. They do have a good amount of options in the veggies, fish cakes, noodles. Sauce bar is a bit small and limits in creating your sauce to your liking. Service was good and friendly however management seems poor and unorganized. You can see the manager or boss continuously yelling across the restaurant at their workers. I feel like if they were assigned sections and more organized they wouldn't have to be yelling across the whole restraint in front of customers who are trying to enjoy their meal. I talked to a friend who recently visited here as well and honestly it's not worth the price you're paying. There are other places that have better broths and better quality meat for less of the price. $30 not including tax and tips for bland soup and "meh" quality meat? This is a nice new place that opened up in Alhambra. It serves individual sized portions, so you can definitely go by yourself, or in a party. When I mean individual size portions, I mean the plates of meat are not humongous. They are also thinly sliced, which I LOVE. So many shabu / hotpot places slice their meat kinda thick, but this place slices it thin. This is an AYCE place, best price is lunch during the weekday (it comes out to about $30 per person after tax and 15% tip). You do have to order the meats, but they are brought out quickly. Everything else is self serve. I ordered the beef broth, and my friend ordered the spicy broth. Both were good! The beef broth was very drinkable, and the spicy beef broth actually reminded me a bit of how the broth with the black Nongshim noodles tastes like. They have open sauce bars, no shacha, but they do have everything else - plenty of sesame, peanut, and ponzu sauces, also soy sauce and sesame oil. And something unique - perilla! There's a soda machine (pepsi). There's also a soft serve ice cream machine (vanilla, chocolate, mix). The cups and plates are stainless steel, making it easy to sanitize in hot water. Service is very good, they came over pretty frequently to remove the used plates and ask if we wanted more meat. Definitely worth checking out! read more

New ayce shabu place in Alhambra!! So obviously I had to stop by. It's $30/person for dinner so it's a reasonable price compared to other ayce shabu places. You get individual pots where you cook your own meat and veggies. I think what makes this place better than a lot of the other ones is that you also get drinks for free as well. There's soda and no sugar green tea and black tea that you can choose from. There's also a hot food bar with a good variety of Korean foods like japchae and Korean Fried Chicken if you want some of that. You get to choose a soup base that you want, which I chose the House special. I believe it's more of a seafood based soup. The soup is more on the blander side but that's fine because you can basically adjust it however you want it with the sauces they have. The meat order is very slow. You get to place 3 meats per order per table at once but make sure you do it consecutively because they do take a while to come out. Their meat is definitely sliced on the thicker side. One of my biggest issues was that because I came when it was grand opening/soft opening, servers couldn't tell which meat was what so when we ordered lamb with the beef, we weren't sure if we were eating lamb or beef. Service is alittle slow but I can understand that because people are still training. I came on a Monday night Labor Day and the place was actually pretty packed which is surprising cause I think they barely just opened that weekend. All in all, pretty good value for $30. I really wanted to like this place despite the reviews of broth lacking in flavor. Everyone was right. Extremely bland. It made everything that went into the broth just as bad. The meats were sliced nice and thin which made it decent with the dipping sauces. I think the meats were good but you really need a good broth to have a good experience. They did have a wide variety of self serve items. We appreciated the rice, chicken, and sesame ball at the end of the self serve even though it was also bland. The sesame ball was probably my favorite item. One thing that annoyed us was the music. It kept going in and out as if someone was playing it from their phone and kept walking away from the server. The second thing that annoyed us was that they started cleaning at 1030pm. They did last calls at 1030 even though close at 1130. They even came around with our checks at that time so that they could close the system. It's odd to me to do that. I assume they would stay after to clean up if they close at 1130, but I guess it really means they close and are out by 1130? My first time trying shabu shabu and because I'm a grill-it, fry-it, smoke-it, bbq-it type of guy I was reluctant. I was not disappointed. I'd seen many of my fellow Yelpers (shout out Jeff C) leave good reviews and post great pics so I figured this was the place to pop my cherry. When you're seated, AYCE is the only option. You pay according to the schedule - weekends and holidays are more expensive. You choose a broth - they have beef, spicy beef, House which is a seafood base and a few others. I went spicy beef all the way. You choose your cuts of meat, and you're on your way. What I didn't know was that the broth really isn't seasoned. Good news is... there is a huge buffet line here where you serve yourself seasonings, veggies, seafood, salads, condiments and even fruit. Some of it to stew in your pot, some of it to eat as is. After I doctored up my broth, the meat was flavorful and very delicious. They say they use Prime here, although it doesnt say USDA Prime. What I can tell you is the meat is well marbled and very tender. The more you stew, the more flavorful the broth and food you cook in it becomes. I was very pleased with my meal, the efficiency of the service, and the many options that are available here. I will definitely be back and I definitely recommend. read more

This was my first time coming here. It was surprisingly quiet on a Friday evening. Arrived around 6:30pm and we got a table right away. It was probably because of the Dodgers game going on that nobody was there. Found out that only vegetarian option cost $30 vs the regular $34 for 90 minutes of eating, as there is a time limit. I grabbed 4 different plates full of stuff and never had to go back for seconds because I got exactly what I wanted. I got the miso soup base vs the vegetable base. The quality of the food was good. The only thing I didn't like is the cross contamination of tongs to grab the food. The organization of meats vs vegetables were not organized properly at the veggie bar. Some of the seafood or meats were placed right next to the corn or bamboo shoot trays. Forgot to take pictures of it. I was so full! The food was good BUT, for some reason I felt sooo sleepy. Something in the soup I felt this sleepiness in my eyes. I usually don't feel sleepy being a vegetarian, but I think they put something in it and I felt this way until I went to bed. Though the service was okay, the workers didn't bother us too much and they refilled our soup once. I'll try this place one more time to see if this sleepiness happens again. The week day lunch is $22.99 and dinner and weekend price is $29.99. For the price, you get 10 choices of meat, mostly slices of beef but there are pork, chicken and lamb. The vegetables are fresh but there are not much of a variety. However, they make up by providing appetizers such as bulgogi, two kinds of fried chicken, jopchae noodles, teokbokki, little donuts, fried rice, etc. Note: these food were not hot or warm, they should really keep it steaming. They also provide kimchi, pickled radish slices, pickled mixed vegetables, and spicy cucumber kimchi. Note: these were kept cold. There is a rice warmer for self served bowl of rice. Also, they have a soft serve ice cream machine. On top of that, they have a fountain drink machine and tea, included in the meal price. The soup bases are not that flavorful, I could not tell original from vegetarian other than the color of the stock. I made several trips to the sauce counter. Ice cream machine only had chocolate working. Mushrooms really have been crazy expensive... Noticed most hot pot places are only offering oyster mushrooms same with this place. Ok. They have boxes with gloves available at several stations for you to use before helping yourself to the self service station. Unfortunately most everyone skip the gloves. Staff are pretty good about refilling the self service area as well. There are two ends, both serving the same stuff so you can go either side to avoid long lines. Fried foods and appetizers are all toward the front of the self service area. Fountain drinks and ice tea options are self service as well which is great, no having to flag down your waiter. The wait staff were decent at expediting out meat orders, but perhaps because of where we sat, we weren't exactly in eye shot view all had to flag them down several times to reorder meat. My friends and I came here for lunch on Black Friday and was happy to find they charged us non-holiday pricing for lunch ($23.99), it was very worth! There were 7 meat selection for lunch price, which still had high quality beef and pork. Their veggies also were very fresh and always well-replenished. Lots of fishball options, seafood, etc. As with most places, they also have a hot food bar with japchae, fried chicken, dubboki, etc. Their sauce bar was B.O.M.B. ALSO!! Would give 3.5 stars over a flat 3 if I could. My best friend and I came to all that shabu on Monday night and it started off really well! The waitress was really kind and let us sample all of the broths before we got to pick! We ended up going with the beef bone broth because we felt it was the most pleasant out of all of them. The spicy beef broth was really oily and salty, the miso was super salty, and we just didn't like the original house broth. The beef bone broth was a very nice clean flavor that we felt would compliment the meal best. Salad bar: They had a wide range of options and even hot foods! We tried the spicy and regular Korean fried chicken, and the spicy one had the most flavor whereas the plain fried chicken was very bland and underwhelming. I ended up loading my soup with bok Choy and mushrooms (they had about 3 varieties) and I got lots of pumpkin too! My friend chose Napa cabbage and several dumplings (they have vegetable, beef, and pork) and fish balls. The salad bar has a wide selection of noodles, but we didn't try any of them. I felt like the sauces weren't very good but my friend loved them! So I suppose those are personal preference. I LOVED the unlimited green and black tea!! The black tea was great but the green teen was a very odd shade of bright, solid green. Very strange! It didn't taste like much, though. Meats: the first round of meats we ordered were AMAZING (pictured), the meat was perfectly sliced and so thin it melted in your mouth. Delicious. However, the second and third rounds were terrible! In one of the meats we found a large shard of plastic! We alerted one of the waitstaff, but I'm not sure if anything came of it. The last round, the meat was so thick and tough! I tried the house and beef both broth and in my opinion both are quite bland. I would suggest the miso! The miso is flavorful. I don't eat spicy so can't speak on the spicy broth(s). Noise level in here around 7pm on a Wednesday was very loud... They were blaring music and their speakers sound blown out. I asked a server if they could please turn it off and she laughed at my request. When we entered, we were immediately seated. The place was not full, but not empty either. Arrived here around 8pm and had to wait about 5-10min. Expect a waitlist since it does get busy on certain days/hours. There is parking lot so that isn't a problem haha. Service was amazing! Started us right away and instruction is very clear. You can order 3 meat dish at a time and it came out fairly quick. 1. Pick a soup base (you can mix soup), one of the staff recommended "Miso & Spicy Beef" broth and it was amazing! If you like a hint of spice, this is the option 100%. Personally is not very spicy. Everything at this point is all self served (even napkins and water). Sauce table, salad bar with variety of ingredients, and side dish (kimchi, spicy rice cake, glass noodles, etc). As for ingredients, there isn't a huge variety to choose from. I wouldn't compare it to other AYCE hot pot places since this has it own charms too haha. Good value for $30! They have lots of hot food options and soft serve ice cream as well. So if you are comparing against shabuya with the same AYCE shabu then this one is better because of the service! Literallly we were asked multiple times if we already put our meat order in, proactively refilled our soup and cleaned our table. They request that you wear a glove when grabbing the food and sauce! Soup bases- just mediocre. my hubs got the spicy beef and I just didn't like it but i liked my beef broth. Just simple and tasted even better after adding all my ingredients! Will be back to try more things! They also have miso and orginal that i want to try next time. Hot Food - jap chae, spicy fishcake and rice cake dukbokie?, fried sesame balls, fried chicken, spicy and non spicy. This is my follow up review...bumped up from 2.5 to 4 stars. Went there for an early dinner, the service was quick and attentive. I think the growing pains of when it 1st opened have been overcome for sure during this visit. I think the quality was adequate but if memory serves me correct, it seemed a tad bit down only because the cuts of meat seemed smaller...but the service side was really good. As such, I really enjoyed my dinner. It came with soft drinks and soft serve for dessert. Next time I come, it won't be as long between visits. This place gets 5 stars! The atmosphere is very spacious and clean. The tables are comfortably spaced and there are plenty of tables for large groups. The service was quick and friendly too. You get to choose between the broths, order your meats, and then get up and serve yourself other ingredients like vegetables and seafood. My favorite meat choices were the ribeye and the brisket! The price is reasonable for the selection and the quantity you can get here. Since the average price for ace is around $30 per person, this restaurant definitely is worth the price with its wide selection and fresh tasting food.
