Didn't feel like cooking the other night, so we decided to give The Dae Mun a try. At first glance, it looked pretty quiet, but as we walked further inside, we realized the restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside. We were greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in. Since we were ordering to-go, one of the staff members kindly helped us place our order and made the process quick and easy. Hubby and kiddo both ordered the Galbi Tang, while I went with the Yangji Sullung-Tang. Everything came with rice and an assortment of side dishes. The soups were comforting and satisfying--the broths were light yet packed with flavor, making them perfect for a hearty meal without feeling too heavy. Of all the side dishes, the potato salad was my favorite. It was creamy, slightly sweet, and the perfect complement to the soups. Overall, this was a great first experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back to dine in and try more of their menu offerings!

I was craving Bossam so I'm glad I found a new place to have it. I will also ordered the seafood pancake. Both had good flavor. The seafood Pancake had a lot of seafood so I really like that. Most of the Banchan was pretty good except that it was a little too sweet for our liking. Maybe next time we will dine in and try their other dishes.

We came on Friday for their lunch special. There is parking at the back which was no issue. We came a few minutes after they opened and it was pretty empty. A man seated us right away and served us a cup of hot beef broth. He came back a few min later to take our order and left. As we waited for our order, more people were seated. At this point, it was noticeable that they were severely understaffed. There were only two people serving, taking orders, seating people, and cleaning up. We waited 30 min for our food and had to flag the man down to check on our food. We saw three tables get their food before us even though we arrived first. What was worse was the female server was being very aggressive serving the food on the cart. She pushed so fast that we saw the soup spill out of the bowl. When we finally got our soups (the Chadol sullungtang), we were very hungry. The sides were decent but only got refills once. We asked for water but that was forgotten. Then, we had to stand by the cashier to get their attention so we can pay. Overall, this was a very bad experience. The soup was decent but totally ruined by this service.

I don't know what happened. I tried them during their soft opening and it was delicious. But I ordered for takeout the other day and it feels like their portion size decreased which makes this place too expensive for what you get. I ordered bibimbap and the sauce was a little too light in flavor for my taste. But I swear it was good the last time I ordered. So I know bibimbap is usually just a mix of banchan and rice, but I think it's kind of lazy to use what you give out for free as a part of the meal. I'd have to rethink about going here or just not order the bibimbap.

The Dae Mun is a welcomed addition in a limited selection of Korean restaurants in the SGV! The menu has plenty to choose from such as bulgogi/sullung-tang/raw marinated crab/bossom. The dishes we tried were all tasty and were almost comparable to some of the k-town heavy hitters. They also give an amazing complimentary savory bone broth in a cup and have great service in a modern designed space. -seafood pancake was loaded with green onions/squid/shrimp/and a few small clams. -classic bulgogi was seasoned very well mixed with squash, onion and carrots. -sullung tang was also a light broth with tender brisket. -bossom was tender and flavorful paired with cabbage wraps and seasonings - complimentary Banchan quality and selection was solid Pro Tip: Parking is available in the structure attached to the building but is limited, but there are plenty of street parking on 4th & 5th St. Also, I hope the lunch special stays permanently!

They give you free bone broth when you arrive which is perfect because it was a cold evening. Gamjatang had alot of broth and tasted clean but it feels like there wasnt enough meat. The only meat was from the bone. 3/5 because of the meat portion. The seafood pancake was good. It was alot bigger than expected and they give a decent amount of shrimp. We asked for the pancame to be cut into smaller pieces instead of 6. 4.5/5 Server also packed my broth. Surprised his hands didnt burn. I will be back to try their raw marinated crab. I wanted to like this place more because the staff is extremely welcoming but the food doesn't taste the best (yet)! We ordered the squid hot plate and the bossam which both were small portions in my opinion for the price. The squid hot plate had way too much sugar that are rice crystalized within a minute and it was left super hard. The sauce was way too sweet and it was not spicy at all. The bossam needs some work. They gave us really large pieces of cabbage stem and they were hard to chew and bite on. Usually bossam has thin cabbage pieces to properly wrap and eat bossam. The garlic used is not fresh garlic slices like I'm used to and they use jarlick. The sides are good, I think the best part of the meal was the bachan. For the same price or cheaper I think I'll just stick to going to Ktown for Korean food.

Food - 5/5 - When you sit down, they serve you a complimentary small cup of bone broth to start your appetite! The menu has a good amount of selection that does set this a bit different from other Korean places in the area! We ordered the bossam, soy marinated crab and the seafood pancake and it did not disappoint! Everything was so good. The seafood pancake was fragrant and crispy, full of veggies and you definitely get bites of seafood. The marinaded crab was a small medium crab with a bowl of rice on the side. There seems to be a lot of roe and crab butter which is the best! They provide gloves for you to enjoy the crab without mess. The bossam was tender and the fresh wraps made it incredibly enjoyable. The banchan was plentiful and a good amount of variety, I enjoyed each one, especially the honey nut mix! **Please be advised that if you have any particular food allergies, let the staff know before ordering to ensure your safety as allergens, like nuts, are in the kitchen** Price - $$ - The pricing for this place compared to portion size is pretty average. It's not budget friendly but the price point is about $25-30 per person depending on what you get to share. Service - 5/5 - The servers here are incredibly attentive and notice your needs quite well. They know when to step in and provide help or ask if you may need something. They're incredibly generous and are very helpful. Ambiance - 5/5 - The interior is cozy and bright. The mood and smells tell you that you will have a good meal once you walk in. Location - 2/5 - As this is located on Main Street in downtown Alhambra, parking on this side of Main Street is not ideal but they do have a private structure in the back. It does get crowded due to it being shared so just be aware of the chance of parking on the street. ____________ **Note: Location rating does not affect yelp review, this is just for informative purposes of other patrons only.

First time trying this spot and we loved it! Our server, Jenny, was so sweet and helpful when we ordered. We loved the bone broth served at the beginning of each meal! We ended up ordering the mul naengmyeon and LA Galbi combo. The cold noodle portion was HUGE! We had even bought another order and realized we could've shared one. The LA Galbi was also super tender! Overall, everything was great here (even the r&b playlist that was on while we ate lol)! We'll definitely be back again :)

Hubby & I have dined in once for lunch on a Sunday, and we thought it was okay. First impression is that their meat portions are quite little. Their banchan and complimentary broth are good. I was not a fan of their Sullungtang (#3), as I feel you can get better elsewhere around SGV. Mixed meat amount wasn't very much and I didn't feel like the broth was thick enough. We also ordered their BBQ Combo (#28) with Bulgogi & Cold Broth Noodle. Again, bulgogi portion was a bit small. I did like their Cold (Buckwheat) Noodles. I did see that their specialty is Ganjang Gejang (Soy Raw Marinated Crab), which I will have to try with another visit since we just had some when we visited Seoul...and would also like to try to their Bossam. However, I do feel their prices are a bit on the higher side. Will update when we try!

New Korean spot in Alhambra, CA that's definitely worth checking out. They specialize in authentic skillet-style rice dishes along with traditional Korean favorites, all served hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The quality of ingredients really stands out! The space is surprisingly large and comfortable, making it great for groups, and the service is attentive and welcoming. A nice touch--they serve hot bone broth as soon as you're seated. Solid experience overall and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Stopped by Dae Mun since I heard it was the newest korean restaurant in the valley. It was described as the sister restaurant of Sun Nong Dan so I was intrigued. We ordered the vegetable pancake, bulgogi and naengmyeon combo + galbi jjim with cheese. The vegetable pancake came first and it was good but slightly too crispy/fried for me. There was also seafood in it and I got confused because it was advertised as vegetable (and I don't eat seafood). The galbi jjim was just as heavy as other restaurants but a lot smaller than expected with the potato being uncooked and crunchy! If we had ordered it alone for our party of 6, we definitely would not have been full. Lastly, the bulgogi was a bit flavorless and the naengmyeon (my first time trying it!) was a little too sour for my taste - noodle chewiness was on point though! Overall, don't think I would come back. I did really enjoy their walnut peanut side dish and the bone broth shots (lol).

Yukhoe. Looks Impressive but tasted too sweet for me.

Okay, I've tried this place on two different occasions ordering very different things to see how it compares to other korean spots... Yeah I'm sorry, maybe i'm ordering the wrong things... Service is great and the place is clean and modern. Food: Banchans are unique, their complimentary broth is delicious... My sister ordered cold noodles, said it was ok. not impressed. I was not impressed with their Yukhoe. It was my first time having it and I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it was just.. too sweet and bland and not what I imagined. Their Buchu Minari pancake was not consistent. I came on two different occasions and they were prepared differently. Also... I HATE when my pancake is sprinkled with panko... Second time I tried their Somori Gomtang but it tasted like old beef and there was minimal slivers of protein in the broth. I was so disappointed in the quality and the quantity. I have yet to try their raw marinated crab or Bossam, but I am not sure if i should return to give this place a try after two disappointing visits.

What's even crazier is that I've been a diehard bone-in/traditional wings believer, but bb.q Chicken's boneless wings converted me to the dark side. In fact, I will shamelessly admit that I only ever order their boneless wings here after having tried them. Unlike other places' boneless wings, which use dry white meat (an absolute abomination IMHO), bb.q Chicken uses actual dark meat and are actual "boneless wings." The Cheesling flavor is to die for. Get the limited time Buldak Cheesling flavor for a special spicy kick. If you want an alcoholic drink with your chicken, I suggest sticking with beer or bottled soju. It also seems this is one of the few places in socal with a license to cook with charcoal indoors, which is a bit of a bummer. Place was not too busy when we went but the center it's in is a bit small and can be tough to park. The service is pretty typical for a Chinese place. I found them more attentive than average honestly and they were always available when we flagged them down which I can't say for a lot of places, so service was overall good in my opinion. Place is AYCE, two person minimum, 2 hour time limit but are generous. You can get water or hot/cold wheat tea which was good, similar to barley tea. They can change out your grill at any time and add charcoal if the fire starts to die down, which you'll want since you want to be cooking meat quick over a high heat to make the most of your time here and get the best cook on your meat. To me the standouts were the beef tongue, boneless beef shortrib, and this cold cut you don't cook that I forget the name of. The beef tongue particularly really had everything going for it. Great balance of flavor between fat and muscle, a little chew but not too much like some bad tongue has. Super thin so fast to cook and easy to eat. Everything else was good but nothing KBBQ doesn't have a better version of (looking at you marinated beef). The charcoal flavor is gonna be a unique element so take that as you will. I'm told in China every place like this has its own 'signature sauce' and I guess the one here is the sesame sauce that is quite sweet, creamy, and perfectly thin for dipping. I followed the pro here and added green onions, cilantro, vinegar, and soy sauce to taste and it helped balance out the flavors for me but I still found myself preferring to eat the meat on its own most of the time which was a bummer as dipping between sauces is a nice way to change things up as you eat the same cuts of meat for 2 hours. The shortrib is incredibly juicy and delicious. I found the steak cuts my least favorite as they were a bit tough and lacking flavor. If you pay in cash you'll get a 16oz cup of their INCREDIBLE yogurt so I highly recommend, but you also get small cups of this at the end of your meal. It has a high fresh acidity like freshly squeezed lime juice balanced with sweetness that really makes this yogurt bangarang and super addicting. So much so I bought two things to go and wish I got more! Owner was a total sweetheart too. Def a great place to hit especially for the charcoal element and world-class yogurt but otherwise my favorite KBBQ spots are still gonna be my go-to for everything else.
