Across the board the food ranged from edible to horrible. The rice and beans were edible, but the proteins were not. The chicken mole was dry and tasteless. The fish was so overcooked it was like eating fish-like cardboard. And the shredded chicken was not edible; it had an off-putting almost spoiled note to it. I'm not a fan of Chipotle, but the average Chipotle makes much better food than this place. Had theeeee best experience at Alma Cocina! Our server, Demetrich, was awesome -- super helpful, patient, and gave great recommendations for apps, drinks, and entrées. The ambiance and decor were so cute, with a bar area that's perfect whether you're there solo, with a date, or a group of friends. For apps, I tried the guacamole with roasted corn relish -- they actually let you pick from three toppings (peach, chamoy, or traditional), which I thought was such a fun touch. For my entrée, I had the Alambre steak tacos, and listen... hands down the best steak tacos I've ever had. The way the steak was cooked and seasoned was next-level, and the sweet plantains on the side had this queso and chili agave drizzle that was so good and totally unexpected. Tried this place with a couple colleagues. Never knew this restaurant was here. Attended on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't busy which was nice for us. Quite big and a nice ambiance as well. I enjoyed my drink (forgot the name) and for dinner I had the birriadilla. I initially thought it wasn't going to be enough but they are good sizes and full of brisket and lamb goodness! I used to work in the Terminus building and occasionally went to Alma for lunch. Met up with a group of friends for one of my friend's birthday dinners. It was a very quiet Thursday night, which I'm assuming is not usual for them. The first time I tried Alma, I enjoyed it but was not blown away. This time I must say, I really liked it. Our server was very sweet and made sure our table was well taken care of. The table started with a guacamole trio and fresh, homemade chips. So good, we ordered two lol. For entree, I got the steak tacos, which comes with rice and beans. Honestly, it was amazing! I even saved some for my hubby later. The only reason I didn't give Alma 5 stars is because of the prices. In fairness, they are considered a more high-end Mexican restaurant. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, I won't say no if someone asked about going. read more

We came here for dinner on Friday night and found out there's complimentary valet or validated parking in the deck which was an added bonus! I had made a reservation, but there was still plenty of open tables. The manager took us to our table and also checked up on us during our meals which was so nice! We started off with the guac and salsa sampler which had 3 salsas and 3 guacs to try with unlimited chips. The fire roasted and tomatillo salsas were my favorite from the salsas, and the salsa negra was good but a little too sweet for my liking. The guacs all were super good! I loved the pear-date chamoy one which was so unique as well as the one with the chimichurri and cheese on top. I think they just needed a pinch more of salt but otherwise quite good. For our mains, we went with the patatas Bravas, chicken tinga verde tacos, crispy shrimp tacos and the Baja fish. The patatas Bravas were pretty tasty! I really Loved the aioli sauce drizzled on top which made the potato's even more flavorful. I also liked the fact that they weren't deep fried but roasted. The chicken tacos were pretty flavorful and the pico and crema complimented the tacos really well. The shrimp tacos were also super tasty and had a nice pineapple salsa which added a touch of sweetness to the dish. The Baja fish dish was enough for two people and came with a variety of sauces and salsas and 6 tortillas. Overall, it was super filling for the four of us. We finished off with churros which was the perfect way to end. The churros were quite delicious with a crunchy exterior and soft inside. It came with a Mexican chocolate dip and banana caramel sauce. Restaurant is in a lovely location in Buckhead. This was a last minute change of venue for a conference dinner. The had maybe hour notice we were arriving. The party was over 60 people. Ambience: lovely place with nice intimate seating areas and enough to accommodate a huge party as well. Service: for such large party the struggles to keep up but they did their best Food: we arrived and chips were delivered took forever for guacamole and salsa to arrive. The chips were gone and they were not refilled. The guacamole was too salty. The food was buffet style. The mole chicken wings were undercooked, my chicken wing was half raw. We had the guac and salsa sampler to start and it was so small. We also had to wait for the server to bring chips for a while and their chip baskets are very tiny. I was also not a fan of the round chips they have as it's just annoying to have to break them and they are very hard to bite. I can't even begin to explain what a wonderful evening we had here. A friend and I went on a small getaway to Atlanta and he had heard about this restaurant. So we quickly made a reservation so that we can have this experience. All the food was absolutely delicious. There is no way to pick a star of the show because it was all amazing. It was very quiet in there on a Friday night. We had a 7pm reservation, and there were between 5-7 other parties dining during our 3 hrs there. Parking is plentiful because it's the Terminus parking deck. Alma Cocina validates parking for up to 3 hours, so that's usually plenty for most diners. You can also valet your car, but we opted to self-park because it was easy. Naranjarita margarita - VERY GOOD, not too sweet Pork belly Masa - piece of pork was very fatty Guacamole trio was interesting and tasty. The apple chamoy was an unexpected combination for avocado, but it worked! It had a slightly smoky flavor and was not overly sweet. The hearts of palm guac was good, but had more of a bright lime juice flavor compared to the plain guacamole.  The prawns small plate was really good. Presentation was pretty and enjoyed how bright and spicy the base sauce was. It came with 2 triangles of bread, but i could have used even more to get all the sauce up. It also had a bright flavor that reminded me of Tom Yum soup. I wonder if there was lemongrass in it. Either way, i recommend it! read more

The bartender and my server, Miranda I believe, was very attentive and explained the menu and drink options for me. I started with a blood orange margarita with Tajin on the rim. This was an unacceptable experience. Our group of four arrived and were seated without issue. One person stepped away to the restroom, and during that time, the server made a comment that clearly carried racial undertones. It was unnecessary, and it changed the energy immediately. When our group member returned, she went over to greet some people we knew at a nearby table. The interaction was friendly and brief. Not long after, a different server approached that table and asked, "Are they causing problems? It looks like they were disturbing you." This was completely unwarranted--and showed a clear assumption that was both inaccurate and inappropriate. What the staff failed to realize is that we all knew each other. There was no disruption, no issue--just a biased narrative they chose to act on. In a nearly empty restaurant with three occupied tables, it was baffling. We chose to leave and went to another restaurant down the street where we were treated with professionalism and respect. Between all of us, we spent over $500--money that could've just as easily been spent at the original place, had we been treated appropriately. To be clear: the manager and front host were professional and respectful. The issue came from the two servers involved. Their behavior was unprovoked and told us everything we needed to know. This review isn't about playing the victim. It's about calling out poor conduct and making sure others are aware. While we enjoyed the decor and the service was good we found the prices for the food and drinks to be outrageous. 1. Ordered spicy chicken empanadas. $15 for two small empanadas on a plate with sauce. For this high price there should have been 3 empanadas on my plate. 2. Barbecue brisket Huarache $15 for one piece on a plate, for the price it should have been two on the plate. 3. Infused ice cube drink, my man ordered it. What arrived at the table? A small glass of passion fruit and a separate glass of ice. Price?? $18. Outrageous!!! 1 cocktail and 2 appetizers, $58 and we were still hungry! My man gave a good tip of $15 and bill blew up to $73!!! Server asked if we wanted to order anything else.....yes the check!! Not enough options on the menu and as I stated at the beginning of this review the prices are outrageous. Even basic stuff like 2-3 tacos on a plate will cost you $19-$24!!! Now I understand why two couples walked into the restaurant, sat down at a table and within 15-20 minutes they were walking back out and leaving. I bet that this restaurant sees this happen every day. Would I return to eat at this restaurant again?? No. Why?? I don't like to have my wallet robbed. Would I recommend this restaurant to other people?? Yes if you enjoy your wallet being robbed for small drinks and small plates of food. Message to manager/owner - please don't rob your customers. Visited with my coworker for my birthday lunch. She's always raved about the good food, ambience, drinks and small bites. Everything lived up to it! To start we did the guacamole trio - traditional, strawberry chamoy and charred spring onion, cotija. We ordered from the lunch express menu - pork enchiladas and mushroom enchilada. We shared the sweet plantains served with crema, chili-agave and Queso cotija. Neither entrees are on their regular menu and were scrumptious! I also ordered a nonalcoholic drink from the bar. My favorite guacamole was the apple chamoy with spiced pecans and queso fresco. The traditional and hearts of palm were not bad. My favorite salsa was the tomatillo avocado salsa. The fire roasted salsa and salsa negra we ok. I ordered the Grilled Octopus for my meal. The octopus appeared to be charred a little to much and was chewy, but the lemon potato purée was on point. I personally did not like the smoked almonds on the plate. They did not bring anything to the plate. We also ordered a steak on the small plates menu (sorry forgot the name). The steak was served between rare and medium rare. Because my spouse and I were chatting we forgot to inform our server on how we wanted the steak served. Assuming she forgot to ask. We ordered the Molcajeta Mexican Brownie for dessert. It is served in a Mexican stone bowl. So it was still bubbling hot when it arrived at the table. The brownie was served in a mezcal caramel with a scoop of ice cream on top. The brownie was awesome. Drinks You have to try the tequila cubes. I ordered the Reposado: FGR Herradura double reposado cube. OMG this cube was flavored with mango, blood orange, passion fruit and vanilla. You get a shot of tequila and pour it on the cube. Genius. Shout out to our server, Tucker! He was personable and knew the menu really well.
