Was craving some good, savory, salty food, and what better way to satisfy this than through Hawaiian food, right? I had a special deal with DoorDash in that I got free delivery, and decided to give this place a shot. Food arrived quickly (I'll give my DoorDash deliverer and Aloha BBQ equal credit for this), which was a plus. I ordered a mini Garlic Fish with Brown Rice and Tossed Salad for $7, while my dad got a Spam Musubi for $2. The pros: Good portion for a mini, lots of garlic on the white fish, which was cooked well and was offered in generous portions throughout the dish. Also, props to them for offering brown rice! The cons: "Tossed" salad was literally just pieces of lettuce (as opposed to macaroni salad, but that's to be expected when you're going healthier), and for some reason, there was this icky, thick oil that covered the bottom of the container. It got on the lettuce and the rice, and while the dish tasted good, the oil turned me off a ton. Knocking off 2 stars for that. Dad reported that his spam musubi was alright (not really sure how you can mess that up, though), but when there's other options closer to me for Hawaiian food that I've had no qualms about, I think I'll skip Aloha BBQ next time. read more

That was short lived! After eating here a second time I'm dropping my rating to a 3. This is a new Hawaiian BBQ restaurant located directly across the street from the Safeway supermarket near Geneva and Mission Streets. I was just walking by on my way to run some errands and was actually thinking about Hawaiian plate lunch but at another establishment further down the street. The menu here is much larger than my intended lunch spot with a wide assortment of Hawaiian BBQ lunch plates, Chinese and Hawaiian appetizers, musubi, barbecue bowls, burgers, saimin noodles or chow mein and more. In fact, it took me awhile to read through the menu and decide what I wanted to try. It was quite good and very filling with the beef being leaner than most that I have had at other Hawaiian BBQ restaurants. My second visit began very annoyingly as the cash register attendant obviously did not understand his job very well. He did not know what was on the menu and how to input the items into the cash register repeatedly having to run to the back of the restaurant for assistance. I ordered 2 items and a soda and it took almost 10 minutes. The food delivery remained very fast however. Here they ask you how you'd like your eggs prepared, but since the worker couldn't figure out the cash register system I ended up ordering my eggs over medium. The burgers are not hand formed like my usual Hawaiian place but more like the frozen beef patties you'd find in a supermarket freezer. The gravy was very salty. They have a big refrigerator full of sodas, water or juice. You order at the counter and your meal is ready in less than 10 minutes. Everything is served in compostable take-out containers with non compostable forks and knives. There is plenty of seating for up to 49 persons. There is currently one TV with a mounting rack next to it that I'm assuming will have another TV attached to it soon. Open daily 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Credit cards are accepted, but there is a $3 minimum. They do catering and they have delivery with a $20 minimum. read more

I got a takeout from here despite the mixed reviews. I still wanted to give it a try and I'm glad I did! To each their own. While some said the food is ok, others really like it. For me, I'm not amazed but I thought it was good casual food for a weekday delivery or takeout. Not to mention, the portions are generous! Please don't ever change that! I asked when it would be ready and she said 5 minutes. Wow, fast I thought and she's really eager to cook my order. We picked up the food which was ready when we got there. Upon opening the boxes, the meats didn't look so good, and appeared to be cooked much earlier than when we placed our order. The katsu didn't have that crispy fresh fried look and when biting into the pieces, the batter was not crunchy whatsoever and the batter was falling off the chicken. I don't do this too often, but I'm finished with this place. NEVER AGAIN. The people on the phone have a hard time understanding you over the phone (either the place is too loud and/or a communication barrier). You have to shout at them and repeat your info at least 3 times. I'm told 30-45 mins over the phone, and they usually come in 1 hour. I'm about 2 miles from the restaurant. Why? Last straw? The delivery guy was late (as always) and incredibly rude this time. I answer the phone to him yelling "Your food is here! Open the door!" I sprint to my door feeling bad that I've made him wait so long, and the guy is in his car across the street. Then takes his sweet time strolling over. I sign quietly, say thank you and close the gate. Within 1 minute, the guy calls me back yelling (AGAIN!) "You forgot delivery tip!" I ordered the half and half plate of short ribs and katsu for $10.71. (A bit pricier than the Hawaii Drive Inn) two blocks away. I waited inside and the good smell of Hawaiian BBQ did not waft. The interior felt artificial. When I received my food, I asked for hot sauce and they gave it to me in the form of packets. (Yuck) I got in my car and gave the katsu a bite. Flavorless breading. I bit the macaroni salad and it was too sour. The macaroni salad did not balance the katsu. The short ribs were already cut (aesthetically I do not prefer that unless this was k bbq). So glad I came across this place on yelp! One of the yummiest Hawaiian BBQ joints my boyfriend and I have had!!! I got the A4 half BBQ short ribs and half garlic shrimp and my boyfriend got the loco moco. My combo dish was just amazing! Great BBQ flavor on the short ribs, but that garlic shrimp though!!! On point!! I've had a garlic shrimp dish in Hawaii and it was not like how I imagined, it was just straight up shrimp swimming in butter, disgusting!! (no, I didn't get to try the shrimp trucks there, yet). But anyways, Aloha BBQ, you can taste the garlic, greasy but not too greasy and the green onions gives it a nice flavor. I just wish they didnt give such a little amount of shrimp because I had to savor these!!! I thought they were that good! Le boyfriend's loco moco was the first I ever tasted and it was delicious! Okay, so I just moved and tried this place for delivery. This is the best Hawaiian food I've had outside of Hawaii. I was wondering why anyone would order the "mini" plates, but the regular was a ton of food! I got the teriyaki chicken and it was 6 pieces of thigh meat, enough for 2 nights (well, I had to make more rice). It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, not too much or too little sauce. I got delivery from here for a weekday lunch. Delivery was right on time, and service was good. Everything was delivered hot. However the food was just Meh. I got the BBQ Mix Plate, Musubi Combo, Manapua. The bbq was a just a little flavorless, and bland, and the meat itself was overcooked and quite chewy. The musubi were great, flavorful and quite big as well. The Manapua was TERRIBLE. The outside bun portion was hard like it was previously frozen and then dried out in the microwave. How on earth that I haven't left any review here? I've been ordering delivery from this place since 2016. My always go-to is Chicken Katsu. Very tasty. They are nice to give me extra katsu sauce whenever I ask. My eating habit is to soak whatever meat with sauces. It usually takes about 40 mins to deliver to my place yet the chicken is always crunchy, soft from the inside and super delicious. Of course, there is a hit and miss some time. Well, they are not a five star Michelin restaurant so it is forgivable. Other dishes I have tried are veggies rolls, pot stickers (pretty much same as frozen dishes); combination fried rice (quite good); seafood fried rice (average); pork chop over rice; pork katsu (prefer the chicken more). After coming here multiple times, it's time I update my review. Came in to order a eat-in Chicken Katsu. The person whom placed the order for me wore a black jacket with a grey cap was wonderful. Order was placed fast and my food came within minutes. The food is still good and authentic! Very tasty and crispy. Rice tastes really really good and the portions of Chicken are magnificent! I was really hesitant since we could easily go pick up food from our favorite L.L. But it was cold outside and we wanted to make it a romantic night indoors! We placed an order for Spam Musubi for a Christmas Party and paid $44.99 for 40 Servings. You would think that 40 servings meant 40 pieces, nope - wrong. They said 1 piece of musubi is meant for 2 servings. I'm confused. We also called to pick up by 5PM and when we get there, they said they didn't have the order. And then they said they would make it. Which took an additional 30-40 minutes. What's the point of false advertising and placing orders in advanced? I would rather go to L&L, Ono's Hawaiian, or Hawaiian Drive-in. I ordered the seafood combo plate with short ribs plus a spam musubi for $14 altogether The seafood portion was good although a little small portioned. The short ribs were a complete disappointer. The taste was right, but the meat was tough and chewy plus super small portions, a lot of bone with only a little meat. The plate had two huge scoops of rice and only a tiny scoop of macaroni salad. She was mad at the driver for just honking repeatedly when he comes up to deliver, then laughing in her face when she asked him not to do that... Only to do it again next time. I cannot believe how rude the woman behind the counter is, never going back!!! The woman behind the counter was on her phone, clearly having an argument (or she just always yells into the phone) in Chinese. Then she said they didn't take American Express, but when it looked like I didn't have another way to pay, she let me use my AmEx card. When I try to say 'gee, thank you!', even though I really had no reason to thank her for letting me use a payment method they have the ability to take, SHE SHUSHED ME!!!
