If you want very mediocre Hawaiian food, this is the place to go. I'll just make this quick: Positives: - Accepts Credit Card - Can order through Eat24 - Open till 10 PM - Menu is bigger than down the street. Negatives: - Food is quite bland. I ordered the Loco Moco, Garlic Fish, and Aloha Saimin. - Loco Moco: The burger was dried out, even though I requested it cooked Medium (which is fine, it's a fast food but you could have left a little juice). The Gravy is just brown water. How appetizing. - Garlic Fish: This is actually fried fish pieces as just an FYI. Wasn't specified and no pictures, not that that's a knock on them. Once again though,very bland. Without any sauce, it just tasted like a plain fried fish with some garlic. A $7 disappointment. - Aloha Saimin: Could only finish half once I took a bite out of the egg and took a big crunch on some egg shells. Way to make my meal unappetizing. The broth taste like instant ramen packets. Or I guess more like brown water. Since that seems to be the common theme here. Conclusion: Get some cash, go down the street, and wait in line for some significantly better Hawaiian food. Even if you're feeling lazy and ordering Eat24 like me, it still took close to 1.5 hours to get my order in. And like another reviewer had mentioned, the guy will attempt to call you from his car before coming up. (I don't necessarily have an issue with this and our front porch light was on so I think it helped him see us). But it was funny that this was a common theme here. Aloha BBQ is a rather small restaurant in the Outer Mission. We happen to live close by and often find ourselves ordering through GrubHub. Delivery - The timing of your delivery might be a bit inconsistent should you order from Aloha. Sometimes we receive our order 30 minutes early, sometimes we receive it 10-15 minutes late. Pick up is always the better option and the food will be fresher should you venture over to pick it up. Pick up orders usually take 10-20 minutes. Food - I really enjoy some dishes from Aloha. Spam Fried Rice is a favorite in our house. I personally happen to like the regular BBQ chicken. The fried chicken wings are okay, but if you want fried wings, do yourself a favor and go to San Tung. The Popcorn Chicken is truly unique. It always arrives still crunchy and I believe that Aloha uses five spice in their batter. However, just like delivery, the food can be inconsistent. When we order Popcorn Chicken we usually ask for ranch dressing, as the chicken can be slightly dry. You MUST ask for ranch; Aloha will not include it automatically. Even then you will be lucky to receive any dip at all with your Popcorn Chicken. Sometimes we receive generous portions of cold ranch dressing in plastic cups. Sometimes we receive cheap packages of ranch salad dressing that would come with a terrible pre-packaged salad. Service - I can't rate too accurately here. I've never had much of an issue with an order. Once I did order several plates of food when we had friends over. Aloha forgot half the order and the restaurant was closing. I got in touch with them through GrubHub and they agreed to send the rest of the order. It did take over half an hour to receive. Overall a solid place to order from if you are too lazy too cook. I ordered delivery from this restaurant because it is less than 3/4 of a mile from my home. I pre-tipped the delivery when I ordered. Big mistake. Driver called me and whined about parking and made me go downstairs and get my food. Ah, the food. I ordered simple fair. Burgers, fries, onion rings. The burgers were cold, and flavorless. The French fries were cold, greasy, and obviously re-fried. The onion rings were the minced onion garbage they fed us in the grade school cafeteria. I got the A1 seafood combo plate with fried bass, fried shrimp and Kailua pork and A2 BBQ mix plate with barbecue beef, short ribs, and chicken. Each dish is served with two scoops of rice and I chose macaroni salad. Big portions and enough for two meals. :-) The Kalua Pork stood out to me because the pork was very tender and went well with the cabbage it was mixed with. The meals were fulfilling. Both dishes were good. If I am in the area again I would like to get the F1-Kalua pork plate and try their other plates and bills. Lots of variety on the menu. I will post photo next time. Service is a bit slow, and this chain fulfills your cravings for teriyaki and katsu style food a short drive down San Francisco. Ordered the Island Fire Chicken, Chicken Katsu, and the Curry Chicken. We were too lazy to get out of the house so we used Grub Hub to order our food. This spot popped up. We ordered a few plates with rice and Macaroni salad. The food was very basic. The Loco Moco wasn't good. the patty was very dry and bland. Thank goodness, I ordered extra gravy as it was needed for the 2 thin, hard patties. The short ribs weren't bad... but they were a bit chewy for me. The macaroni salad didn't have a taste at all. It was very bland and "oniony" . The garlic prawns wasn't what we expected. We were hoping prawns that were cooked in garlic and butter, but it was battered and no taste of garlic whatsoever. Either they gave us the wrong order or they think sprinkling a little butter on the batter and calling it garlic prawns is how it should be done. Overall, this place was not that great. Let's face it. When it comes to Hawaiian fast food chains/joints, the top three are Hawaiian Drive Inn, Ono, and L&L. Now there is a fourth that has opened up. Aloha BBQ was formerly Lin's Cafe. Lin's Cafe always had lots of customers come in for lunch, and I was considered a regular because the butcher always knew my order right when I walked in. They were super nice, and all the Asian contractors would come eat here. Aloha BBQ is nicely remodeled, colorful, and has plenty of seats. There is even a television in the center of the dining area that everyone can view. The chairs are comfortable, and the tables/floors are clean. The only negative thing that I can point out is that the menu is just too vast. There is too much selection, that it must put a strain on the cook(s) always having to prepare different dishes. From pot stickers to burgers, from egg rolls to fried rice, and from kebabs to onion rings, this place has it all. However, Gordan Ramsey would not approve. He would tell the owners to slim down the menu and focus on making a few, extraordinary dishes. Moving onto the food, I had the chicken katsu with a side of gravy. The katsu was cut thin, which allowed for a crispy exterior. The chicken was juicy, and the gravy served as a good dip. I called ahead and ordered the atkins plate to pick up. The guy who answered got my order wrong, no big deal so I clarified. He read it back and it was still wrong and he said he did not have that item on the menu. I corrected him and told him exactly where on the menu the item was and when he read it back correctly I assumed we were good to go. I go to pick up my food and tell him that I had ordered the Atkin for pick up. He hands me my food and charges me the amount and I leave. I love the musubi both Spam and Chicken Katsu. They also have some good healthy options like the garlic shrimp. I didn't have a bad experience, the 3tars is for cleanness (for now) my bbq mix plate could've been more meat in it, I got a half of shredded beef ribs, small piece of beef steak that looked like they were scraps & 1 chicken that they cut in half to make it look like there was a lot of meat. My kids like there musubi, can't beat the price for that it was under $6 for 3. I walked in with a small mcdonalds bag that had trash in it and put it in the restaurants trash bin before heading to the counter. I ordered via grubhub a few days ago. We ordered the chicken katsu, Kalua park, and a loco moco plate. Not only was the food really good but they have excellent customer service! (Kalua pork was our favorite!) They forgot to put gravy on my loco moco so I called and the lady I spoke to on the phone was really nice.
