I've been a fan of the Irvine location for almost 10 years but this location is closer to where I live. Based on taste, I think this place is inconsistent with the Irvine location because the cook on the meat is a little tougher. However, the chicken katsu, macaroni salad, katsu sauce, and portion size are all the same. I come here for my hawaiian bbq fix. I can easily order two plates and be able to eat at least 3 meals with my boyfriend from it. They stuff the plates like crazy. They used to let us pump our own sauces so I'd get a lot of katsu sauce but now with covid, we can't get our own sauce. This review is for the sweet girl that worked the cashier when I came in during opening time this recent Sunday. I asked for extra extra sauce and she came through with a whole bag of sauce cups for me. Thank you girl! I always order extra mac salad on the side too. Their mac salad is my favorite, super creamy and thick. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. Worst service I've ever experienced!! Drove out of our way to try this place and my husband needed to use the bathroom. The cashier would not let us use the restroom before placing an order. It was an emergency and we told him we were going to be customers. It's kinda hard to take your time looking at the menu when you have to pee real bad. I understand bathrooms are for customers only and maybe they wouldn't believe us if we came in looking dirty and on drugs. My husband and I came in well dressed, and to top it off I'm visibly pregnant! I've never had a situation where the cashier refuses to give the bathroom key before placing an order. I even said fine take my order while my husband uses the bathroom and he still would not give us the key until I paid for the food. Never have I ever experienced such gross incompetence and inhumane customer service my life! Wow. While on vacation me and friend wanted something different. We seen aloha Hawaiian bbq. We got a number 3 and 5 so we could sample all the delicious food. And it was delicious. The quality has been dropping the last few times I ordered from here. Used to be fresh crunchy chick Katsu, but the last order we got was old chicken katsu that was clearly left out too long or left in the fryer too long...and they gave no sauce! Long story short, this place is Ono Hawaiian BBQ on steroids! However, I will go into detail about the amazing food here and why I love it. First of all, it rivals prices with its competitors and the portion sizes are huge! I ordered two plates and the tray felt like I was carrying a new born baby. They were stuffed so much, that it was hard to close. I got a chicken and beef plate that came with two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The chicken and beef were both flavorful and I just couldn't get enough of it. After I finished, I felt like sleeping immediately. In my constant search to replace my beloved Island Grill (closed in Oct 2020 after 25 years in Los Alamitos) we visited Aloha in Stanton. It came closer than several I've tried including Rascal's in LB & Matiki Island BBQ in Anaheim. The portions were generous, tasty & freshly prepared. The Chicken Combo (BBQ & Katsu) with Sticky White Rice, Mac Salad & Steamed Cabbage was quite good. I wish they had a Chinese Chicken Salad or a Salmon Plate but they did have other items that Island Grill offered. That's for another day. We enjoyed the decadent Crab Rangoon, six cream cheese filled fried stars that weren't greasy. My Boyfriend likes to try Hamburgers or Cheese Burgers at Hawaiian BBQ places. This one was OK but not great. The patty was pretty dry & overcooked, the cheese wasn't melted & the bun was kind of cold. The decor goes for a surfer theme & there's lots of seating. This place definitely gives you your bang for your buck. Just one meal can feed my whole family of 4 and fill us up, (with some extra rice we have at home). The quality of the meat is definitely not from the top brand or quality but for the amount you get it is definitely still very worth it. After I ordered my food i only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order which I ordered chicken combo and the beef/chicken combo. I did not think much of the food being cooked so quick. After I got home I was surprise of how much food they put in the plates for the price as you can see in the picture. They stuff the To go plates so much they had to use a rubber band to hold the food in. I was like nice more food. But after looking at the food it looked like they just warmed it up and not really cook it as you order. The food was ok not good just ok. However I took 2 stars off because we got an order of the crab Rangoon and unfortunately it tasted spoiled! It was really sour, like the cream cheese had expired for a really long time. ​Watch out L&L! My sis and I decided to give this place a try the other night since it was close by our place. I've seen this portion of the building under construction for awhile now and glad that it's finally up and running. Inside the store is very clean and well kept. The last time I had Hawaiian food was a couple weeks ago at L&L on Goldenwest and Westminster. I am so glad we found this place because it is very close by to the office and I can definitely see bringing my coworkers here for lunch in the future. I got the chicken Katsu plate and my sister got the Hawaiian bbq plate. The wait was about 10-12 minutes which is typical of these establishments since they cook it on the spot to order. This is the Hawaiian equivalent of Hong Kong Express. They are not cheap with the portion! The plate was filled up with tons of protein. We had to split our portions into 2 because eating it in one sitting was not possible. Makes a great lunch/dinner for the following day. The chicken katsu was so delicious and I love that Katsu sauce is free and self serve. Stupid L&L charge $0.50 for a small container which I think is ridiculous. The katsu sauce here has the same consistency as L&L but a little tangy-er which I like. The macaroni salad and rice was cooked perfectly and overall I really enjoyed my dinner that night. New ownership and some small renovations made to the patio. I would suggest dining inside at the back tables if you choose to dine with family, seniors or others offended by loud voices, adult conversations and smoking on the outside patio seating area. The patio is great for people watching, taking in the weather and having fun. A must of course, is their infamously famous Rainbow with a floater. This is their famous rum icee drink. Definitely have enough leftovers for two more meals for both of us. Nice, clean place, but the techno music is a bit annoying, and the Spanish television was odd. This restaurant, part of a chain, is located adjacent to a Walmart in a large strip mall in a rejuvenated Garden Grove area close to the 22 freeway. The interior is clean and spacious. The combo plates averaging $13-14 are a bit pricey. However, portions are very generous. Our lunch boxes of BBQ mix (beef, Kalbi short ribs and chicken) were so packed that they could barely be closed. The yummy proteins were all deliciously marinated with just the right amount of sweetness. The two scoops of macaroni salad, along with the softly cooked cabbage, tasted very ono.
