Food was mediocre but the ambience was decent with a view of the ocean. Make sure to bring sunglasses as it was quite bright. It was nice they had a parking lot too. I ordered the mixed plate since that seems like it would be the most popular but the shoyu chicken was plain and dry and tasteless. The fish (mahi mahi) was good but it was just two tiny little chunks of fish - about the combined size of one small chicken nugget. The teriyaki beef was alright, chopped up beef with teriyaki sauce. I had to eat a second meal since this plate really wasn't much food, so I got the kalbi which was really good but again the pieces weren't that small. I have a fairly average sized appetite so needing to order two entrees is a lot. Maybe next time I would order the kalbi and an appetizer or two instead. Server was friendly. Overall come for the decent casual outdoor dining (make sure you make reservations because they were turning people away) but don't be too hungry or expect too much out of the food. read more

There was multiple empty tables in the shade. But the hostess chose to seat us at a table in the sun, under a tree that had multiple flowers falling. Mind you, we were the only ones sitting in the row of tables in the sun. We were only a party of 4, so we definitely could have gotten sat at one of the tables in the shade. We brushed it off, but a tourist family were seated right after us, at one of the tables in the shade! We knew those tables weren't reserved because our waitress let us know if was ok for us to move into the shade if we wanted to. Also, it took 15 minutes for us to even get water at our table. The food came pretty fast, and was very delicious. But we were never checked on, never received any refills, nothing. All while the surrounding tables were catered to and checked up on frequently. We were already done with our food and then the waitress decides to ask if we need anything. We are very respectful people, we never give service workers a hard time. But to back this up, we also saw another local family sat maybe 30 minutes after us, and they too were placed in the tables under the sun. Horrible service for locals. I get it, it's definitely a tourist spot. But this place should cater to the locals more, because it is the locals that held them in business during Covid and after the fires. I was eager to try this place. The mochiko chicken sounded really good. When I took the first bite, it wasn't hot at all. Food should always be served hot, not only because of taste, but it's also a safety issue. Food that isn't hot can mean that it's been sitting out too long which can make you sick. Another thing was that the server was not very friendly. The final thing that irritated me was that the tipping suggestions were higher than other places. Starting at 20%. I don't mind paying that for good service, but since we didn't get good service, I don't think I should feel obligated to pay that much. I was really shocked at how disappointing our experience was. My sister visits here regularly and she was excited that Aloha Mixed Plate reopened. Despite having dinner reservations, we still had to wait. We ordered a decent selection of food for a table of five but things didn't seem as fresh as could be. My sister felt like this place takes the overage of food from the company's luau restaurant. Efficient but not great for the customer. I was especially let down by the furikake garlic fries. Aloha mixed plate is back! In the same location as Star Noodle and a return of what it was before. The views are unparalleled and the food is fantastic. We were a party of 8 and every dish was a hit. The fish sandwich was perfection! We started with drinks and garlic fries and went from there. Food is amazing and hospitality is wonderful as well. Highly recommend! There is a mix of locals and tourist that eat here. Our food was great. My to go is usually their Aloha Mixed Plate, and it is is very yummy with a variety. Tonight I tried the mahi mahi and it was very yummy with a mango salsa, it came with steamed rice, and macaroni salad. Their lava flows are great too for a cocktail. The Aloha spirit thrives here - the staff are warm, welcoming, and happy to help with any questions. Food: Hands down, the FRIED RICE LOCO MOCO is MUST try. If you've never had loco moco before then THIS is where an introduction is required. If you (as a visitor) has had loco moco before, prepare to be ruined for life. The only con here is that you will likely need a nap after. The pulled pork and mac salad are also very tasty! Last but not least, you should definitely try the pineapple upside down cake - even if you think you can't. Trust me, you can ...even after the loco moco. Literally dissolves in your mouth and is lovely treat worth having ...even if just a bite when you are already bursting at the seams. You won't be sorry.
