Seated right away by friendly hostess, great service from Reed & the bussers. Music from the Old Lahaina Luau next door! We couldn't really see the ocean view at night but still nice. Niu cocktail (coconut rum + mango puree) was very tasty Liked the salad, fresh & tasty dressing. Kid got the chicken and wasn't crazy about it. I got the fish sandwich of the day. They only had monchong which is not my fave (no other veggie entrees & the only fish they had). But they grilled it well and it tasted fine. Leoda Pie Shop roll was amazing. Furikake fries: great! Mac salad: not the worst or the best. Everyone else liked what they got (except the coke which tasted off). A solid 4 - 4.5 stars. It's been many years since I've been back but Aloha Mixed Plate has only gotten better over time. I had the traditional mixed plate (of course) and a Blue Hawaiian and every bite and sip was spectacular. The chicken is so tender and the fish and teriyaki rib eye, with the rice and macaroni salad make a perfect combination. And then their signature Aloha pie for dessert. It's casual dining with an upscale taste. As soon as you sit down, the relaxed vibe takes over. There are perfect views of the sun setting over Lanai and you can hear the waves breaking a few feet from your table. We had a great experience visiting Aloha Mixed Plate while in Maui. From the hostess to the server and everybody in between, service was awesome. I love the friendly atmosphere and that alone is enough to make me want to return. I ordered the classic Loco Moco and it's the first time I tried it with the eggs. It was perfect! And the mac salad was amazing! Probably my favorite in the island. My son ordered the Fried Rice Loco Moco and also enjoyed it. My husband got the Kalbi Ribs and thoroughly enjoyed. They are located right on the water with all seating outdoors. We were surprised to find that it took over the old Star Noodle location when we arrived but learned a bit about both restaurants while we're there. It sounds like both may be owned by the same people (not certain on that fact). In 2020, they moved Star Noodle into the Aloha Mixed Plate location because of the outdoor seating. Fast forward to 2024, they moved Aloha Mixed Plate back in to bring local flavors back to the community to provide a sense of normalcy. Our first night in West Maui we decided to make a reservation at Aloha mixed plate. This ended up being one of our favorite meals on our whole vacation. What a perfect welcome to Hawaii to eat at a table right by the water watching the sunset. This felt magical with a view and also the food Was just what we were looking for in terms of being casual yet having plenty of Hawaiian fair. Just went today. We haven't been in at least a few years. We had good service and they have good menu selection. You cannot beat the views. They take reservations now so worked out great. There's parking available and a good location to go shopping or grocery shopping nearby. We have visited before and after the remodel. Before ~ felt "local", apart from all the resorts. But rundown, food was sloppy. After ~ new & refreshing remodel. Nicer outdoor patio with new furniture and of course the ocean view, bar is larger and seats double what it used to. The modern remake is much more of a touristy feel but gone is the forsaken restroom to instead an upscale cleanliness everyone wants. Food ~ presentation & quality was tastier than before. Our sunset dinner at Aloha Mixed Plate was excellent! This is definitely an upscale mixed plate experience. My wife and I were looking for a nice meal out for our last night on the island. Aloha Mixed seemed to fit. It's located on the water with a great sunset view in a busy dining area of what is left in Lahaina. Without reservations, the wait was over an hour, so the host offered us to sit at the bar, which we appreciated. Jeff at the bar was attentive and made us feel comfortable. We split the smoked meat mixed plate special. Wow! How savory- sliced smoked pork in a light lilikoi sauce. Served with sticky rice and the best macaroni salad I've ever had - light and filling. Jeff cranked out a fantastic pina colada for my wife and I got a refreshing Strawberry Lemonade. Lots of other choices, but these hit the spot. For desert, we again shared - this time it was the aloha pie which is a standing tall ice cream pie made in-house, with a chocolate cookie crust on the bottom and Macadamias nuts and caramel on top. We loved this place so much that we ate here twice in our one week stay in this lovely island. It is very sad what happened here with the fire. But they need all the help we can give to ease them out of this tragedy. So, Aloha Mixed Plate is making it easy for us to enjoy our visit and come back for more. Everything on the menu is tasty. The portions were just right and presented with just a little bit of flair. As the name implies, it is a mixed plate. Lots of different ethnic spices in their many items. One should try them all. We got the recommendation from our hotel's concierge, and wow, what a pleasant surprise. I must admit that the name threw me off, but once I saw the photos and reviews on Yelp, we decided to try it. Wanted to support small business in Lahaina and was very happy with the food and service at Aloha Mixed Plate. We shared the delicious coconut shrimp, real coconut used and it made all the difference! We also had the Aloha mixed plate, the beef teriyaki was super tender and the Mac salad was really good. The chow funn also very tasty. We had a wonderful lady serving us, very friendly and accommodating- we had a picky 8 year old and she was eagerly eating the shrimp and noodles thanks to small accommodations. We got seated immediately on a random weekday lunch. The place was less than half full. Service was friendly and quick. I got the aloha mixed plate which came with fish, beef, and shoyu chicken. Husband got chow fun noodles which came with pork. The rice in my plate was very dry! I couldn't believe how they could mess up rice, especially since the rice served in Hawaii is usually a bit more moist. The shoyu chicken was a little tough, it didn't fall off the bone unlike another local spot I went to. The chow fun pork was pretty dry. Overall the entire meal lacked flavor, had to drench everything in sambal hot sauce. Also we were told the portions were large, but it's quite small. We are everything and left no leftovers. The pricing is a bit steep for the quality/taste as well. The views are beautiful, it's located along the water. Service was great from the start and I was happy to see they offered breakfast and lunch options even though it was 10 am, I wanted a drink and lunch because where I flew in from would have been 1 pm. Ordered a mai tai and Shoyu Chicken. I was surprised how much chicken you got for the price and it was tender and delicious! This place also seems like a locals favorite. I'm from the islands and have made many visits to this restaurant and was always amazed at the food as it was so "Ono" (delicious). Unfortunately today's visit was a disaster. I ordered the Ali'i plate. The Kalua pig was not smoked enough and tasted very bland. . The poi was not mixed and actually tasted like it came straight out of the bag and lumpy. The laulau came wrapped and did not have any flavor to it as well. The only 2 things that stood out from this dish were the lomi salmon and rice. Wow! What nice people and service. I made reservations for somewhere that ended up not being close to us, and I don't know how I managed to do that. We were hungry and everywhere was on a hour long wait. The manager here gave us a table that was in the sun that they weren't seating but said we could take it. So nice of her to get us in. I got the mix plate, had a little bit of everything, it was pretty good. My mom is a vegetarian and unfortunately they have 0 vegetarian options. The noodles that are vegetarian are actually not and cooked in the same pans as all of their meat dishes so they taste like meat, which was really unfortunate but other than that it was a good experience. Being in Lahaina, Maui for a day - our hotel lobby employee recommended this place for us to grab brunch. It's an outdoor seating type of restaurant but big bonus because it's right by the ocean. Anyways - their menu isn't big. It's simple and straight to the point for indecisive people like myself. I opted for their kalbi plate while everyone else on my table decided on a few other things that I had a chance to taste. Kalbi (3/5): the marinade was a little salty... I like mines with the perfect balance of salty, savory & sweet. But it was still good! Just a tad, like a tiny tad salty. It wasn't overwhelming salty just that hint. My table also ordered: Aloha mix plate? It had Shoyu chicken, teriyaki beef & fish. (5/5): fish was cooked perfectly and paired well with the tartar sauce. Teri beef was good and the Shoyu chicken was AMAZING! I'm not a fan of Shoyu chicken but it was like a good Shoyu chicken, it was like somewhat a teri chicken but juicer! Burger & fries: I didn't get the chance to taste the burger... but the fries was sooo good. I'm not even over exaggerating.... It had like this nice hint of butter. It tasted like butter fries... I don't know but it was sooo good. Being a hardcore French fry lover, I don't know how they cook it but it was so good and more on the rich side! It is definitely a tourist spot because of all the tourist around us and being a neighbor island visitor from Oahu (you can tell who's not from the islands) & the price wise. If you ever find yourself passing through Lahaina and want to support a local business, I would definitely stop by here. It's my second year in a row coming here and the food is still great! Portions are big, so you'll surely satisfy any hunger you have. Service is pretty quick and staff are nice. You get a beautiful ocean view with outdoor seating. The only downside are the flies that try and get to your tasty food lol. I wish poi portions were a little bigger, but I understand that not everyone likes poi and would probably waste a bigger portion. Otherwise, love it here! read more
