I just had my 2015 Tacoma repainted, and honestly, I kind of got swept up in this whole "change" or…read moreproject -- like a runner's high, except with money I apparently think I can spend carelessly. My coworker recommended MJ Motorsports since she's had a bunch of her mods done there, and because my truck went from charcoal grey to Space White, I wanted something that fit the new aesthetic. The stock silver rims looked tired. Not terrible, but definitely not the vibe. I wanted something muted, sleek, and not attention-grabbing. The moment I got my truck back from paint, I booked it to MJ in Waipahu to check out their rim selection. And look -- I already knew what I was getting myself into. I've seen their website. My wallet was crying before I even parked, but this needed to happen. At this point it wasn't a want; it was self-care. Jordan greeted me and helped me out, taking all my questions and concerns like an AK‑47 on full auto -- clearly not his first rodeo. After about an hour of standing in place, I finally settled on a set of rims... of course choosing the one that wasn't readily available. It's fine. I was just happy I left with a purchase. Installation time was two or three weeks out. I think it was their tactic. They knew what they were doing. They were cooking. In actuality, I was cooking -- cooking up new damn ideas of what else to add to my truck. "Since I'm getting new rims, I should switch up the headlights." "Shoot, I also need to upgrade my dashcam, and their Wolfbox is on sale." Pulled the trigger. Gaddamn it. Installation day finally comes around, and honestly, I kind of had it coming. I originally wanted to reuse my old tires, but they were eight years old. The tread was barely used (I drive maybe 5k miles a year), but Hawaii UV does not play -- my tires were cracking and became a hazard. They couldn't install them. Had to buy tires. BFG KO3. Sounds badass. I'll take it. TPMS sensor change? Okay, fine. Wolfbox hardwire kit? Sure, go ahead. Lunch at Zippy's? Fck it, why not (jk). Wait one more week. But it was a trap. THEY. WERE. COOKING. They knew exactly what I was thinking, I swear. "Why you only get the headlights? Stock tail lights? You shame or what? Third brake light look more like broke light. GTFOH." BRUH. I have issues. But you know what? They did good. Jordan helped me through the whole process, answered my texts, and made everything painless and efficient. This ended up being the most expensive birthday present I've ever given myself. Just to be clear: I'm not a car guy. I just wanted to change the way my truck looked -- and MJ Motorsports made it happen.

Ordered new Morimoto head, tail & fog lights w/MJ. Took apart my front end & saw how hard it is to…read moreget the front sensor off & grill. I went to the shop in person to order the lights & specifically asked the store employee. "When you do the install, do you replace mounting clips if you break them or they're worn out?" Store rep says yes of course included & apart of the installation. spoke w/shop owner wife to order & pay for lights. I then had my truck detailed BEFORE the install & my detailer refinished my original headlights. Miraculously nothing was broken then when he was in the front end trying to also refinish the front sensor. A month later MJ MOTORSPORTS do the MORIMOTO install. I took my truck straight back to my detailer to ceramic coat it. He shows me that my brand new $2500 lights are being held in with zip ties. My grill mounting clip is broken the other loose. Front sensor broken. Takes pictures of everything sends it to me. LIKE HOW most shops do when they find a problem. Address it & tell customer w/pictures to cover themselves. I contact MJ sends pics. Mj explains that his tech said my truck was in an accident before & all grill clips, sensor clips & mounting clips were all broken BEFORE they touched it. Confirms they don't ever break clips themselves. Confirms they don't ever keep clips on hand nor zipties nor do they ever order any because HIS techs never break clips or anything. I said well how did the zipties that's holding my $2500 lights get onto my truck? He says well they used them to keep everything together but all was broken already because of the accident. I said huh. He goes ya I guess before you bought the truck had an accident. You're not aware of. I said that's interesting. My husband bought me my tundra brand new. I drove it off the lot. I'm the original owner AND only driver. Never been in an accident thankfully. Also I took apart my front end MYSELR BEFORE ordering with you folks. I broke a clip myself which is why I asked your store employee if you replace clips he confirmed it's included with install. Lastly, you telling me was all broken but besides me knowing it wasn't cus I was in it literally before I drove to your shop. My detailer just refinished my original headlights weeks prior to the install and he knows wasn't broken cus he was in there. HOW does your tech seem to know more about my truck than me. The owner? Mj decides to then back peddle saying it's a suggestion that it was in an accident but he trusts his tech. They never break the cheap plastic mounting clips EVER which is why they don't have any on hand nor do they keep zipties on hand or in the shop. I told him you understand I spent $2500-$2800 at your shop & you couldn't spend $20 for the proper mounting clips to hold my expensive ass lights IN MY TRUCK?! it's being held in with $1 zip ties? You see how dumb that is right? I never spend $100. I gave you your shop $2500-$2800 idk can't remember but MORE THAN ENOUGH to pay for installation expenses aka MOUNTING CLIPS. Furthermore I took it all apart MYSELF & broke one clip which is EXACTLY why I asked if yall replace them BECAUSE I was just in my front end. Your store employee telling me mounting clips are included but you saying no. It's unethical for your store to say otherwise just to close the sale. You'd rather lie to me than address the situation. You wasting my time & you keep speaking over me & cutting me off. I hung up. MJ immediately calls my detailer after I hung up on him to try and corroborate his story with my detailer. NOT KNOWING my detailer been my detailer for 10yrs. I know him well. Good friend. Solid business & solid business owner. I will never do business with MJ MOTORSPORTS. I HIGHLY suggest you shop elsewhere. MAUI OFF ROAD more better

We let him know that Chrisnina had helped us with the purchase. Unfortunately, Chrisnina told us that we hadn't actually paid and that the transaction had been canceled and that she had only ordered the part. My partner explained that he had paid in cash to Tasha yesterday. Since there wasn't any record in their system showing the cash payment, the three team members had to go back and forth trying to figure out what happened before they could help us. It was an awkward situation because we knew we had already paid, but there wasn't any proof of it in their system. Thankfully, they were eventually able to sort it out. I wish I could say today's visit was a smoother experience, but given the past two days of awkward interactions, with time, I can give this store another chance. I'm just hoping for a more comfortable shopping experience for us on our next visit.

Tried to explain to the guy the best I could and he said he'd had the part ready for me on the side when I came. Came down a few minutes later and sure enough he had the part right there waiting for me and it was the correct part! Without this I wouldn't have been able to fix my car and make it to work the next day. Just awesome.
