    Kahlua pork plate
    Ashley E.

Our experience here was a real bummer. It started out with them informing us that they didn't have complimentary waters available, so we overpaid for bottled water. The food was not great. The only food we enjoyed were the ribs and the shrimp plate was decent. The rice was stale and kind of crunchy and over cooked or it had been sitting in a rice cooker way too long and dried out. The kahlua pork was over salted and also dried out. The loco moco was cooked ok, other than they didn't ask how we wanted the egg and my husband dislikes anything but scrambled eggs. The issue we had with the loco moco was the gravy was a tasteless, gloopy, unpleasant experience. This meal was super expensive for what it was (around $80 for 4 of us) Hawaiian food is one of my favorites, but unfortunately this is not a place I would return if I was in the area and craving it.

    Huli Huli Chicken - Plate

Seen this place on TikTok, was in the area and decided to give it a try. So happy we did because WOW, the food, service and ambiance were amazing. The young man who was working was very attentive and made sure everything came out well. The Huli Huli Chicken plate was enough for two people. The chicken was so moist and delicious. The macaroni salad was also so tasty and refreshing. The Killa Kilauea Fries were amazing as well. The basket was clean after my husband ate them! I definitely recommend Aloha To go! We will be back for sure.

My husband wanted to try this place because he LOVES Loco Moco since we went to Hawaii. He said it was amazing, I had the Kalbi ribs which I've had on Maui & they were super good! Wish we had this place by us but have to wait till we're up that way again. BTW I saw a lot of complaints about the staff & the girl working was over the top good!

Good food. Very busy, small, local establishment with a few tables inside and a few tables outside. Our fave was the Hulu Hulu chicken. And the beef and rice. Pork was a bit salty for my liking, on the big kahuna. Our friends enjoyed the chicken wings and rib platters. Expect a little wait as it was vey busy.

I had the big Kahuna and all 3 of the meats were very flavorful! My husband is pretty picky, and he enjoyed his California burrito as well.

    Poke Bowl

I was craving a poke bowl so I thought I'd try this place out. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed. The poke bowl was plain. I was really hoping that I could pick what went in the bowl such as veggies and different kinds of meats but they only had tuna and spicy tuna. It came with only rice. I guess I should have looked at the menu/pictures. Anyway it was ok. There were a few tables inside and outside. Service was pretty fast. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was only one other table occupied so not busy at all. I will say that as I was walking out another customer was letting the server know there was something sharp in his chicken and it definitely kept him from finishing his meal. This kind of turned me off with this place as well. I will probably not return here because all I really wanted was poke. :/

Tried this place for the first time yesterday and we weren't disappointed! We actually tried to come Christmas Eve and it was closed and we were so sad (yelp and google said it was open). Our order: my husband got the Big Cajuna plate (mac salad, coleslaw, and the 3 meats - beef, kalua pork, and shoyu chicken), and I got the poke bowl ($15) and a spam masubi ($3). We went with a party of 5 and the whole meal only cost $88 - not bad! Pros: - easy parking outside, next to a cute kitchy souvenir shop perfect for tourists - Great for parties of 5 or less - not a TON of seating inside and mostly best for parties of 4 - We were super impressed - it was basically one dude doing everything (taking your order, cooking, and serving you lol) - Food came out fairly quickly, like ~5 min wait ish - you pay beforehand and can bus all your own disposable dishware after - The poke was super fresh and I was shocked to find a place on the mainland NOT in Hawaii that served it this well! Surprisingly better than some places in California! - The coleslaw was oddly pretty good - loved that they put pineapple in it - The guy running the thing was super nice - the spam masubi was delicious, a little heavy on the rice but still loved it. - Decent price for the quality of food you're getting! - Lots of options for everyone! if you don't like fried food, don't order fried food - The big cajuna is a good sampler plate if you're trying hawaiian food for the first time. - Delicious mac salad (my FIL usually doesn't like mac salad but didn't mind theirs!) - it's not TOO rich and they give you a good amount We recommend getting the bigger non-lunch portion because it's delicious 10/10 will come back the next time we're in the Largo Indian Rocks area! I was shocked that the Hawaiian flavors were spot on.

Garlic shrimp and small kahlua pork plate. Took it to the beach at sunset- perfect!
    Thuy L.

Decided one night we wanted to get takeout and head to the beach, so we found this place online right near Indian Rocks beach. Grabbed garlic shrimp, kahlua pork and spam musubi. Great flavors, good portions. My partner lived on big island so he knows Hawaiian food. He said this was pretty close- of course nothing matches authentic pork cooked in banana leaves and in a pit...but this was delicious. Loved the texture and flavor of the shrimp. Totally recommend a couple plates to go, some BOGO and a sunset!

I had the Huli Huli Chicken and it was delicious. This is a hole-in-the-wall kinda place with a limited menu but totally worth the visit.

Is there anything on the menu that's gluten free?

    Give them a call.

Does this restaurant have a red food truck by the same name? It's coming to my work on Tuesday.

I don't know if it's red, but I do know they have a food truck by the same name.

Broke N Bored - Name Checks Out…read more We visited Broke N Bored with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids, and after nearly 2 hours waiting for our food, I can confirm the "Bored" part of the name is extremely accurate. I spent most of the meal wondering if the "Broke" part referred to the stove. When we arrived, there was only one other family in the restaurant, so naturally we expected a reasonable wait. Instead, we had enough time to watch the tides change, discuss our retirement plans, and nearly raise the children to adulthood before the entrees arrived. To start things off, we were encouraged to sit outside in the blazing Florida sun. With three little kids, that wasn't happening. The staff did move us inside, but seemed less than thrilled about it. Considering how long we ended up waiting, sitting outside would've turned us into SpongeBob from his out of water movie. Appetizers: * The PB&J Brussels sprouts were fantastic. Unique, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. * The seared tuna was very good. * The calamari tasted good, but apparently calamari prices must be through the roof because there were more fried banana peppers than actual squid. Service: The waitresses were friendly, but drink refills and table check-ins could have been much better. During a two-hour dining experience, hydration becomes a survival issue. Entrees: * The mahi was excellent. * The "pineapple slaw" had about as much pineapple flavor as a bag of plain cabbage. Just call it slaw and save everyone's expectations. * The crab cakes were mediocre and thinner than Slender Man. * The Caesar chicken wrap was okay, but I had to conduct an archaeological dig through the lettuce to locate the chicken. * Fries were fine. * The chicken caprese was decent if you got a bite with everything together, but the chicken itself was chewy and lacking flavor. * Mashed potatoes were dry. * Pulled pork was okay, but nothing memorable. * The Black & Blue burger was decent. By the time our entrees arrived, nobody had the patience left for dessert, so we skipped it. One final note: a restaurant this size having only two high chairs is a bold strategy for a family-friendly beach area. Overall, there were a few genuinely good menu items, especially the Brussel sprouts and mahi, and the staff was pleasant. But waiting almost two hours for food in a restaurant that wasn't busy overshadows nearly everything else. The food was mostly decent. The experience? Long enough to make the restaurant's name feel less like branding and more like a warning.

While they have a dark, caramelized "bark" on the outside, the interior should be tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth. When they are tough or dry, as ours were today they are likely overcooked or made from a cut that didn't have enough fat. Either way that ain't cool, Sonny's. Not cool at all. The corn nuggets were only "mehh"... pleasant but not memorable. The brisket was made more edible by being chopped but nothing succulent about. The baked sweet potato was large, well baked to a tend softness which you want and they remembered the cinnamon butter. The garlic toast appeared to just be the frozen Garlic Texas toast from the grocery store. Nothing notable about that whatsoever. The best thing and most palatable item we received were the ribs. They were actually very good but they could not make up for all the deficits. Disappointed. You ain't no Terry Black's. Not a bit of juiciness to be found in the entirety of our meal. And that is just not barbecue. It was more like yesterday's barbecue cooked another few hours too long and all dried out. And the key word here is DRY. Skip this one. Was too expensive to be this unappetizing. Do better, Sonny's.
