1st time customer- I found Essa and team using the quote request on Yelp! Essa, the owner responded within 15 minutes of my quote request and this was on a Friday evening! He also accomodated and confirmed my appointment. His quote was fair and final. I had a scratch on my wheel and it was going to chip. I replaced my inner and outter tie rods, bushings and ball joints myself so my alignment was off. Mechanic struggled to get it aligned and in the end was not a great alignment. Mechanic did his best and was honest. He also honored yelp check in deal. Considering my truck is lifted with a few aftermarket parts, this place was not suited to properly do my alignment. I went here after my nightmare with the Alhambra Jeep dealership. Al's auto changed my tire sensor and my O2 sensor. It took them a little while to find out what was going on but they were diligent about it and worked very hard to figure out the problem. The owner Essa was nice. The guy that worked on my car was George. He was nice and super helpful and offered a lot of great advice on my car situation. Unfortunately there was one thing they could not fix and told me I would have to go back to the Jeep dealership for it. I really appreciated their help and I would definitely go back here in the future. I love that they are open on Saturday. I needed a mechanic that works on the weekends. I have a usual mechanic, and because of Yelp's guidelines of conflict of interest, I'm not allowed to review the place. However, I've been itching to get a new mechanic for some time, someone that's a bit closer to home. After a few days of noticing my starter just about to act up (and not risking it to wait until it acts up to change it), I decided to take the initiative and get it changed; problem was, it was a Sunday, and not many mechanics are open. I did call around and after getting a quote from Pep Boys and turning me down because there was too many cars and too few people, I stumbled upon Al's Auto Center. I drive down Fair Oaks, but never noticed this place hidden behind the Mandarin Garden. I called ahead and the person on the phone told me that he'll call me back once he gets an idea how much the part was going to cost. Called me back maybe 5 minutes later, told me a range ($280-$300) to get the starter changed out, within the same day. Decided to take the offer, mentioned that I should be in the area within a half-hour. They mentioned that it shouldn't take no longer than 3 hours to get everything done, since it was a small crew working, and not many customers were there. Dropped off my car around 10 AM, took a stroll down to Old Town and got a phone call at 12, saying my car was ready. The mechanic gave me a heart-to-heart, saying that my car is in need of a tune up, which is probably the cause of my starter giving out, since it was only 18 months that I had last changed it. He mentioned there's something in the rear that potentially be an issue to my rear axle, and suggested I should get everything checked out soon. Good to know, because my usual mechanic hasn't mentioned much to me about these things. Again, do note that Al's is open on Sundays, which was a big life saver for me. read more

I visited Al's three months ago after a recommendation by some people at O'Reilly's autoparts store. My problem was that the ventilation fans weren't working in my Nissan Maxima. The staff was helpful and was able to make the fans work again at an affordable rate (some chip needed replacing), and I thought I'd stumbled on an honest mechanic. In addition, he told me that my brake pads needed replacing relatively soon, like in the next couple of months. Unfortunately, over the last three months, I've had new issues with the car. While the fans now turn on, I get zero heat out of them when I turn the heat on. Furthermore, the car temperature almost redlined, so I checked and all of my radiator fluid was gone. I went to a different mechanic, based on Yelp reviews, and he found that the hose connecting the engine to the ventilation system, the one that provides heat, had been disconnected and never reconnected. What's more, one of the hoses connecting to the radiator had been bumped and was leaking the antifreeze everywhere. So in essence, the problems I was experiencing were a direct cause of the shoddy repairs that I'd received at Al's. Lastly, when I asked about the brake pads, he said they were fine and I had over a year left on them. The only reason I'm giving two stars is that the people at Al's were nice and did technically address the problem that I brought the car in for at a reasonable price. That said, they were incompetent and caused two additional problems that needed to be addressed later on. Avoid. read more

Visited them today after getting a flat tire last night at work. The tire was unrepairable and I needed a used one for the time being. I asked for a quote via Yelp and they were super responsive and quoted very reasonable prices. All this late a night too. This morning I removed the tire from my car and drove down to get the used one. Before I even pulled the tire from the car, the employee was very attentive and acknowledged my presence. He greeted me with a smile and quoted the same price as the night before for a used tire. He quickly unmounted the old damaged tire and put in the new one, which is also in excellent condition. At the time I was paying, another employee asked where I had left my car. I explained that I left it overnight at work since it happened then. He then mentioned to me that next time that happens to give them a call and that since they are close, the would be happy to retrieve the tire next time and replace it for me. For me that really is going above and beyond. I only wish I had known that before arranging last night for a friend to lend me his carjack so that I could remove the tire myself during my lunch break. Well at least I got some practice with changing a tire. All in all it was an amazing experience and should this happen again, I will be sure to visit them in the future and it would not be because of their proximity to my job but because of their exceptional service. read more

I saw the many 5 star reviews and was convinced this was the place to go. I pulled in at 3:30pm on a Sunday to get a flat tire fixed, and I couldn't get the one staff to even look at me or respond when I greeted them. I had to ask a fellow customer - "am I at the right place? Is that the guy I need to talk to?" to know that the open walled garage was the only place to check in at and there was no other person to be talking to. Off day? End of a shift? Was I really just standing in the wrong place and there was another office I was supposed to check in at? After 5 minutes of standing around confused, I got back in my car and went to Firestone instead. read more

pretty lame bait and switch. they advertise $49.99 for alignment if you check in on yelp but then if you show up it turns out that's only for a "2 wheel alignment" and if you want an actual alignment the price is much higher. I'd stay away from any shop that uses such dishonest advertising to get you in the shop as there is no way they are trustworthy. read more

2 stars because they had quick service and good customer service. I replaced a tire with one of their more expensive used ones. There's no guarantee on used tires. However, 2 days later and it was flat. I took it to another place who told me the tire was leaking from the side wall and wasn't fixable nor should it have ever been sold. read more

I've been here 3 times - two times (one of these was an emergency!) to get a tire patched, and once for a routine oil change. They have always been quick to respond and I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes after bringing my car in. As someone else mentioned, this is not exactly the fanciest looking place and there is really nowhere to wait around other than next to your car, but I have always been very happy with the service and prices. read more

My car was a disaster and the engine misfiring and with their service it's as if nothing happened and running great! They were polite and trustworthy! From tires, to brakes to anything you need checked out and fixed these guys will go above and beyond. I absolutely feel comfortable coming here and knowing I am going to get a thorough, transparent and honest estimate and diagnosis. The guys here are super friendly and to top it all off, when in most cases I don't mind paying more for top notch workmanship and customer service they are cheaper than everyone else. Went there to have one of my tires checked out as it kept losing air. They did a visual check and didn't see anything and afterwards dropped it into a tub of water and found the area where the air was leaking from. I had a good experience at Al's yesterday. I was at Autozone getting a replacement alternator and needed a reputable mechanic to install it for me. I called Al's and got the quote that I felt was reasonable. I was concerned about how long it would take since like everyone else, I need my car! They assured me it would be done within 2 hours. That was GREAT news! With alternator in hand I drove down there and dropped off the car. I gave them my name and number and waited for their call. Sure enough, about 1 hour and 45 minutes later my phone was ringing and my car was ready for pickup. They boxed the old alternator for me so I could get my deposit back at Autozone and I was on my way. I don't know what other people's experiences have been, but as for me it was simple and pain free. I had taken my car into the dealership for my usual oil change but this time they told me I had several maintenance services that need to be addressed (transmission flush, power steering, alignment). They quoted around $700-$800 for everything and I decided to search the Pasadena area for a local auto shop. I reached out for a quote and the owner was extremely fast at responding throughout the day and got back to me with a quote that was more than half off what the dealership had quoted. I got to the shop around 8:55AM on Sunday and there were already 4 other people waiting. It seems that they were all waiting for tire services though. I dropped off my car with Agustin and was told they would call when my car was ready a few hours later and it was ready by 12:15. All in all, a great local auto shop that does get busy on the weekends due to the connecting tire shop but totally worth the savings! read more

I bought 2 tires 2 days later i almost got killed on the 210 I went back to resolve the problem and they put out a bad vibe and began arguing instead of helping. Save you money and time.
