This review mainly covers his flexibility and reliability. I bought some BioClean plumbing cleaning chemical from Alt Plumbing when I thought my drain flies in my masterbath was coming from the sink (found later it was coming from under the toilet). Anyhow, it's good to have this BioClean stuff on hand anyways for regular drain upkeep. I called during a Friday evening just before his place was closing and asked if it was possible to purchase BioClean from him. It sounded like he was going to be busy Saturday but he said he was willing to meet for me to get his product. I met him at San Marcos and he also gave me advice on how to use it. He definitely gets a 5 for a reliability, flexibility, free advice, and communication. Not sure about the actual plumbing work though. read more

My pump went out in my sewer lift station and I gave ALT a call at 8:00 PM. My well was full of sewer waste and they talked me through different options of what I could try to do to eliminate the problem myself. After realizing it was a bad pump they came out the next day and installed a new pump and valve in a very timely manner. All the work and customer service was extremely professional and they walked me through tips on how to maintain my lift station to make it last a long time. Recently had the reason to call Alt on a Sunday due to drainage line backup. First technician spent well over two hours attempting to clear lines in two different clean outs, using a 75' snake. Unfortunately, the blockage was at the curb connecting line and he couldn't reach it. He made arrangements for a different technician to come out on Monday, and did not charge us a dime for the Sunday visit! This is one honest and class-act business! Probably can't say enough good things about my experience! We had a leak in the garage ceiling which we discovered late on Friday night. I started calling plumbers Saturday morning and spoke to the very friendly and nice Sydnee who said John would be able to get to me that day and gave me a 3 hour window. John was at my house right in the middle of that time frame and quickly discovered the source of the leak in a very tricky, poorly accessible spot. He was still able to to get his hands in there to fix it with minimal removal of dry wall and a lot of dexterity. Coupled with the fact that John is very friendly, knowledgable, professional and efficient...and charged me a very fair price...I couldn't have been happier. Alt installed a tankless water heater for us 5-7 years ago. It has been running smoothly ever since. Yesterday, our family returned home after an 8 day vacation. The fridge needed some purging, and, in the process, my husband put some old rice & shredded chicken down the disposal. The double sinks backed up. We have had similar experiences, and have been able to clear it up ourselves, as the clog was local, in the pipes right below the sink, Not this time! After approximately 9 hours of DIY attempts, including two trips to Home Depot, & installing a new garbage disposal (because the current one sprung a leak in the process), we literally threw in the towel! Travis arrived within the quoted time frame, quickly summed up the situation, and went to work. Thankfully, it was an easy fix. Putting too much stuff down the disposal, after a week of our plumbing being only minimally used during the pet sitter visits created a soft clog 30 or so feet from the sink on the way to the main line. He was able to snake the line and resolve the clog within 30-35 minutes of arriving. He also educated me on other things we could check and attempt if we encounter a similar situation in the future! Never had such a great service like this before. Needed an estimate to give to my landlord before I could get work done. A tech talks to me over the phone and is completely honest. The estimate ended up being higher than what is was. They have great hours and were able to come out late at night after I got home from work. The plumber was very knowledgeable and friendly. My water heater leaked everywhere and I needed a new one ASAP. Alt Plumbing was willing to come out on a Sunday to help me fix my problem at an extremely reasonable rate! It was replacing the water heater that determined that I needed a new water regulator ASAP! My water pressure was supposed to be at 75, but was hitting over 140. No wonder all my faucets were leaking! Even though it was an odd sized regulator, they were able to find it and replace it with no problems. So I thought I had an issue with my hot water heater (checked by some else) however it turned out that it was fine and I most likely needed a new cartridge to be replaced in my shower. I checked Yelp and Alt Plumbing had 5 star reviews as well as a Yelp deal. I thought this was a win win so I gave them a call. John was very accommodating and setup an appointment for the next day. The gentleman who showed up (forgot his name) brought the replacement cartridge he thought may fit but it did not so he had to leave and get a different one. He came back and proceeded to change it out. The job didn't take very long and he said I was good to go. I should of asked early on what the total charge would be ($240) because now after doing some research I know I was overcharged even with the Yelp deal ($25 off). Also after taking a shower later that day I realized he didn't set the hot water limiter high enough so I got mostly luke warm water until I personally made the correct adjustment. Now as I look back I could of most likely done the job myself and saved a lot of money. Lastly he said he would email me a copy of the invoice which I never received. I learned a few lessons that day, one of them being not to contact Alt Plumbing ever again for any of my plumbing issues. Beware. read more

We purchased a water filtration system with a water softener. In order for the warranty to be valid, we needed a licensed plumber to install. I originally called a different plumbing company and they agreed to install but when the day of installation arrived, the technician indicated that they didn't carry the correct tool. That same day our water valve (regulator) supplying water to the house broke. Our home warranty company sent two plumbing companies. One could not make the repairs, the other wanted to charge an arm and a leg. Instead, we found John and he was courteous, knowledgeable and responsive. He arrived and gave us a great suggestion about the system. We purchased some additional parts and he completed both jobs for a very reasonable price. We even asked him to come back and make a minor modification and he did so without any problems. He gets an A for communication, knowledge and customer service. He runs his own business and sometimes gets backed up with repairs, but he prioritizes and lets you know whether this will affect your timeline.
