After seeing some TikTok videos about this place, I decided to give it a try. I arrived on a Saturday at around 12:30pm. There's a tiny parking lot behind the building with a few (maybe 4) parking spaces, but there is plenty of unmetered street parking around the building. I came here for a sandwich, and when I got inside, I got a bit confused about where to order. One side of the store is the bakery, with a ton of pastries and sweets on display. The other side is a pizza place, with a flat top grill. There were no sandwiches on any of the signs on either side of the store. After asking someone, I found out that you're supposed to order and pay at the bakery side, then pick up your sandwich from the pizza side. Okay, sure, why not. If you're dining in, there's a few tables inside, and a bunch more outside. They were moderately busy at the time, but I managed to snag one of the inside tables (it's too hot outside). I ordered the pastrami sandwich, and made it a combo (adds fries and a canned soda for $4.25). My order took right around 20 minutes to be made. Now, the sandwich review. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, I did not enjoy this pastrami sandwich. Before I unwrapped it, I remember thinking that it looked really thin. After unwrapping it, it was confirmed. This is a $16 pastrami sandwich with a miserly amount of meat in it. I am not exaggerating when I say that half of the bites I took of this sandwich were literally only bread, pickles, and mustard. The bread is not bad, but a little too hard on the outside... it tore up the roof of my mouth. When I managed get a bit of pastrami in a few of the bites, my impression was that it wasn't horrible, but not great either. I couldn't tell from the taste that it was actually pastrami... it just tasted a bit too salty. The fries were good, but you can get that almost anywhere. Bottom line is, it wasn't worth the 30 minute drive for me to eat here. Maybe they have better food offerings than what I ordered (their pastries did look really good). I'll be generous and give this place a 3-star rating, although the food I tried here was a 2-star rating (at best). Lesson learned: sometimes these food influencers on TikTok get it very wrong. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Altadena Bakery has been a favorite of mine for years, and they continue to impress every single time. Years ago, I ordered a custom cake for my dad with only a couple of days' notice, and they were so flexible and accommodating. They even designed a fishing-themed cake for him since he's a big fisherman -- and not only was it beautiful, it was absolutely delicious. Fast forward to today, and family brought over their viral fruit desserts that have been all over TikTok. I tried the raspberry, mango, mushroom, and coconut, and I was genuinely impressed by all of them. My favorite was actually the most unexpected one -- the stem of the mushroom, which I believe was strawberry shortcake. It was phenomenal. My second favorite was the mango, followed by the coconut and raspberry, which were both great as well. I already know I'll be back to try the banana and hazelnut next. Altadena Bakery continues to deliver on creativity, quality, and taste. Easy 5 out of 5. read more

Darn darn darn. Drove from Redlands to try this place. Been watching videos of ppl trying the mousse desserts and loving them. I was soooo excited and that was quickly whisked away. I was looking forward to the mango one so it was the first one I tried. I couldn't taste any mango at all unless I had a piece of the fruit, sooo disappointed. Then the raspberry.. now this one wow it's worth a star. The mousse tasted like raspberry and the filling was sooo flavorful. Then the mushroom... I was so confused on what those flavors were supposed to be. Looked like chocolate I tasted a bit of chocolate in the stem but this was a miss. Now to the tiramisu cup. This one right here.... This tasted nothing like tiramisu. Why was there a nutty filling in it. There's no nuts in tiramisu. I'm going to be straight out, they are extremely beautiful amazing looking desserts but I think most of the concentration needs to be more on the flavors. They are expensive treats. I don't mind paying top dollars for great tasting food. But I'm sorry these treats are overpriced over hyped and totally missing the mark.
