I went to Altadena Bakery after my favorite spot was closed and after seeing the hype on TikTok. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The service was practically nonexistent, I stood in front of the display as the only customer and was barely acknowledged. When I was finally helped, the staff couldn't answer basic questions and seemed completely lost. On top of that, I was repeatedly pushed aside by another employee carrying trays, with no apology or awareness. The attitude made it look like customers were an inconvenience rather than a priority. I purchased the fruit shaped pastries, and while they looked nice, they all tasted the same bland and uninspired. In my opinion they lack the fundamentals of proper French pastry. Chasing social media trends and copying aesthetics without technique or knowledge isn't sustainable. Anyone can buy molds, but quality pastries require skills, ingredients and experience. Parking - It was great my main fear was that since there was no "lot parking" i was going to struggle to find some parking or have to park with emergencies and end up having to rush but i think the time and day( Thursday afternoon aorund 2/3pm) i went was slow enough to where i was able to find parking right in front with no issues at all! Everything we had here was BOMB. First of all, their pastries and cookies were undeniable. All the cookies we tried were super fresh and delicious, not overly sweet at all and perfect with tea. Overcharged for a plain white cake so we could decorate it at home ($120 for 30 people cake) and when I came to pick it up, the whole surface was uneven. When I asked them to fix it, they made me wait 20 minutes and this is the final product (after fixing). No apologies, just rude looks when I asked them to fix the cake. Not impressed. The fruit "art" was a gloppy mess. Usually when I've had these at other bakeries, they were more stable with a firm gel like interior, with fresh fruit in the middle. This place exceeded all our expectations. My sister and I drove 50 minutes and arrived around 8 PM, and they still had an impressive selection of fresh pastries. We came specifically for the fancy fruit pastries--they were absolutely 10/10. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, just right. The hazelnut pastry was another standout, with a deliciously crunchy and creamy filling. We also tried the Dubai cake, and it was incredible. The desserts were good but not great (not worth the $10 price tag) with the only exception being the Ferrero Roche one which was outstanding. They were attentive and polite but I do think there is a sinage issue they need to address as they seem to use a ticket system to help you and instead of the ticket puller being right when you walk in, it's located right next to the register which makes it hard to get to if people are already there trying to pay. The pizza was excellent - we had the Armenian pizza which was delicious and definitely enough for 2-3 people for a small. From the start everything was out of order with one person working on drinks and the other taking orders with the bread. Now I mention this because there is immense lack of communication. When it was my turn I ordered a strawberry matcha I saw they advertised on Tik Tok. The lady agreed and I waited...and waited...and waited. 20 minutes went by with many customers getting their orders done. All those people were being took care of with no one working on my matcha. I came here with my niece because she was in the mood for some desserts and wanted to bring some home for her brother and sister. I wished we hadn't eaten breakfast prior because I would've loved to try their sandwiches and pizzas. I'm not entirely sure if they still sell sandos because the prices are crossed off the menu list. We entered the door on the right and the first thing was the kitchen/oven as I was trying to figure out where was i, the kitchen staf rudely pointed us to the left side where the bakery was. After trying to check the time for food to be ready, the personal replied, "you are not alone! 10-15minutes." We waited and waited, approximately 15 minutes later checked and rudely told not yet. Then another colleague who came checked the status and it was ready. Remember the 3 fries? Yes, we got fries in ONE to go box. We are not family, didn't ask for a one place for all kinda deal.... Anywhere, if my coworkers gave them the benefit of a doubt, I give this place 1 star as it was my first and last time entering it. Give your personal some basic customer service lessons! I was craving a sandwich for lunch today and wanted to try something new in the area, so I decided to come by here for the first time. I ordered Dav's Suprami (pastrami) sandwich and omggg it was ridiculously good! I can even say that it's one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. The pastrami was thin-cut, which is how I like it, and it paired so well with all of the toppings and sauce in the sandwich. The bread was also really good; it was perfectly toasted and had a nice crisp to it. I was surprised that it came in such a huge portion..but even more surprised that I finished the whole thing all in one sitting lol! It was that good. Overall, I'd really recommend this place for their sandwiches. Unfortunately this is another place that didn't live up to its IG reels. I decided to go here on a Saturday morning, (August 2025) myself, husband and 2 friends and we were excited to go, it took us 50 min to get here. And when we arrived we were the only ones that were there, it was around 10-30-11am, there were 2 lady's behind the counter, a girl making a coffee and another woman on the phone. We walked in smiled and we all made eye contact, so they knew we were there, however, they ignored our presence, and that happened for a good 7 minutes minimum, they both continued doing what they were doing, which we understand, HOWEVER, when customers walk in at the very least great them!! It's called customer service, and they lacked it. They could have said, "be with u in just a minute" we got nothing. A man walked in minutes after us and he was attended before us. Then they finally said can I help? I thought (duh!) We've been standing here. Anyways for the sake of keep the peace we said nothing and ordered our parties and sat outside. We now wanted to put in am order for their hot foods, sanwhiches, pizzas etc, so I go inside where they have the ovens and a lady is there washing something, I patiently waited for her to ask where I place the order for the pizza, she turned looked at me and ignore me. Another lady came out from a side door to fill up a fridge that was in the "lobby area" made eye contact with me as well and ignored me, didn't ask if I needed help, so then I decided at that point to push back and be a little rude in my delivery and said, hi, excuse me do I order here with you? Or on the side of the pastries? She just pointed in the direction of the pastries. Unbelievably RUDE, no customer service and we drove from far, the chicken sandwhich was dry, the bread with cheese and egg was delicious, the croissants were good and the "pistachio dubai cake was absolutely trash, tasted nothing like pistachio. Our commute home was over an hr, its safe to say that we all regretted coming here. The service was horrible and not worth the drive.
