We have literally been standing here an hour and when we told the hostess that we are quite hungry and what's the hold up she basically said there was nothing she could do. We are staring at 3 open 4 tops. All they have to do is turn 3 of the 2 tops sideways and wella, we can order and eat. It just shows a complete lack of concern for the customer experience. I was so pleasantly surprised by our new Sushi Restaurant in town! We were greeted right away by the friendly hostess and sat at the wrap around bar and took a look at their menu while simultaneously watching the chefs expertly prep and slice away to make the rolls. I'm always a little off put when the majority of a sushi menu is tempura options, (we want the fresh rolls!) Not to worry, they had a good variety and plenty of baked, raw, spicy and veggie options! My partner doesn't eat seafood so he had the veggie sushi and was so happy with how they really cared to make it delicious. ( I'll be taking my vegetarian sister here now!) The chefs and rest of staff look over even in the busy atmosphere to make sure you love your roll, which was so cool to me. One thing to note is they do not have a liquor license so bring a bottle or buy one before. The corkage fee is.... Wait for it.... FREE! So cool. And I can't believe I made it this far without mentioning the prices. The rolls range from $8-$15. My partner and I were looking for a place to have dinner in Napa and came across Amami Sushi. There's plenty of parking around the area, so it wasn't too hard to park. We got seated upon entering and ordered the following: - Miso Soup: Delicious and warm, loved the green onions for additional flavor - Snow White Roll: Fresh and tasty, enjoyed the escolar and fatty tuna combination. The spicy sauce was a little too spicy - Sake, Toro, Hamachi Nigiris: Ended the dinner with these wonderful and delicious nigiris, all of them were so fresh and had great textures The service was great despite how busy it was on a Sunday night. YAY!!! Finally a good sushi restaurant in town! This restaurant took over the Hal Yamashita space - nearby parking lots, shops and salons. It has a gorgeous bar where you can watch the sushi chefs do their thing. This would be a decent place for a date night or with the family. We came for dinner during the first 3 days of their opening & several families were also there. They don't have a ton of large tables so be prepared to wait if you are a party over 4 & come during peak hours. We had several rolls and the hamachi w/ponzu & jalapeño appetizer. Everything was freshly prepared and very good! They hadn't received their liquor license yet when we visited, but that was in progress so sake & beer should be available soon. Their lion king roll and mango crunch roll are my favorites of all time. It's the type of place where you could get anything on the menu and it's delicious. I went here with my family right before my graduation, and I was far from disappointed. Everything was absolutely delicious, from the gyoza to the various rolls we got. I will say, they forgot the spicy mayo for the squid karaage and we ordered a plate of tonkatsu that never arrived, but considering how busy it was, how much stuff we ordered and how delicious everything else was, I can't complain too much. After 15 minutes of waiting, I had to find someone to get me a printed menu because your QR code could not connect me to the menu. In Napa Valley, you have to train your staff on wine service. Came in with a party of 5 and got a ton of different apps and rolls to share, forgot to take a photo before we dug in but the food was amazing. Every dish was phenomenal! The only thing that was disappointing was that we ordered all of our apps and I let the server know we wanted our mains after and proceeded to order the mains together and everything ended up coming out one by one- apps and mains at the same time. This made the dinner feel very rushed. I totally understand if this is standard for them but I did specify how I wanted the meal delivered and that didn't happen. We had an excellent meal (lunch) at Amami Sushi this past weekend. It was quiet when we arrived-- likely due to the fact that Bottlerock was in full swing. I have been eating sushi for 59 years, so I am a fan of the traditional Tekka Maki roll, which they do really well. We also had the Rock and Roll which was also good. The Chicken Karaage was a little overcooked and tough. Another favorite of mine is Miso Soup, which again, they do very well with green onions. My favorite. We will be back soon read more

Each roll is so unique. Bold fresh flavor, with each bite making you crave the next. Price point is amazing..... have never found the sushi this good and this fresh without even coming close to breaking the bank. If you're in Napa and you like sushi, coming here is a have too. I was in Napa for a conference and was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar restaurant name pop up. We decided to pop in early and was able to get seated at the sushi bar. The place was loud and busy, reminding me of the other Amami restaurants I visited. It was nice to see Alan behind the counter and he even asked how my family was doing. We placed our order and even though we didn't seem to wait too long, Alan thanked us for our patience. I always enjoy the fresh sushi at Amami. They are always so big that I get full pretty quickly now lol. I recommend getting the omakase plate if you have a good appetite because that never lets me down and gives the best variety. It's been intriguing and a delight to watch the progression of Amami from when they first opened their doors in early 2024 to their menu revamp and dining room renovation that kicked off 2025. While I've had the pleasure of dining here multiple times since their arrival in Napa, I was inspired to write this review after my last 2-3 experiences. After all, it takes time for a new restaurant to really find their footing and balance. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but not overbearing, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. They're attentive, know just when to check in, and are friendly enough to strike up a conversation with you--without being too much. The update to their menu is what truly sets them apart from other Japanese restaurants in Napa. The rolls are great, the kushiyaki is a perfect quick snack for lunch if you're in a rush, but the nigiri is the star of the show. The variety of fish options, which I believe are from purveyor Sakasyu (correct me if I'm wrong, Chef), is a breath of fresh air. The quality is top-notch, and the presentation of the thoughtfully prepared nigiri shows a true passion for the craft. I very forgetfully dropped the ball on taking photos of my wonderful dishes during this calm, rainy, late-afternoon visit, but I'll be sure to capture everything next time. I ordered simple but classic spicy tuna, salmon, negi toro, and spicy yellowtail rolls (6 pcs). Omg. The fish is soooo fresh. The flavors are beyond words. I was stuffed by the end but was not overwhelmingly full - thanks to the quality of the food. It did take a bit for our food to arrive due to it being busy, but not super long. We came here right when it open around 11:30, therefore, service was fast and attentive as it was less busy! Parking around this area is quite easy, there are a lot of street parking and a small lot right across the street! The restaurant was nice and clean. It had a lot of the furnitures that the old restaurant that used to be here had. For food we ordered a takoyaki and hamachi jalapeño as appetizers, a few notifies and a black dragon roll for our entrees. Hamachi jalapeño was the best dish we had. It was a perfect blend of spicy, sour, and sweet. The nigiris were super big and thick. They were really good in terms of how much you can get for the price. We weren't the biggest fan of the black dragon roll, it was a twist to the dragon roll with sriracha and yellow tail. Food was great, would come again! read more

I normally don't do this, matter of fact I never have. However, my wife and I felt like we needed to. We had been looking forward to coming here and were excited to try several items on the menu. I first and foremost want to acknowledge how amazing the food was. The only reason I gave 4 stars. Everything from the taste to the presentation was amazing. It was cut short however due to lack of service. The host and the runners weren't the problem at all, it was our server. He was quick to take our order and that's when it went downhill. We got our appetizers but no drinks. We had to ask for our drinks 10-15 mins after we gots our apps. We ordered 3 rolls and only got 2 of them. Had to ask him about our 3rd one and he blamed the kitchen. I had to waive him down on 3 different occasions because not once did he check on us. Had to ask for another drink had to ask for napkins etc...there was no upselling on his part whatsoever and I mention that because I asked to keep a menu to order more once we finished with the food we already had however due to poor service we just asked for our check. My wife and I are both in the hospitality business and being in Napa you expect a level of service that didn't even meet the bare minimum. read more
