misprints are easy to fix.. by REPRINTING..

Really sad to see how much this place is declining. It's been a measurably worse experience every time we come in (about once or twice a month). What started as the sushi joint this town needed, with possibly the best front-of-house manager we've ever seen, who literally held the place together at the time, has become a place where we're greeted at the door with nothing more than a gesture toward the dining room to find our own seats. Then we're handed a disgustingly dirty stack of stapled papers that now serves as the menu. Just a couple of months ago they had nice laminated menu folders. Staring at a brown-stained, low-ink printed sheet of paper does not make you crave raw fish... or anything else for that matter. Why on earth would they think this is a good idea? We never really know who our server is anymore, and when one finally came over, he had clearly just come back from smoking outside and absolutely reeked of cigarettes. Again, not exactly an appetizing way to start a sushi date. A quick note: we showed up about 30 minutes after opening, so the staff needing a cigarette break that soon after opening for lunch seemed a little questionable. We ordered, and thankfully the quality of the fish is still top notch, as it has always been. The only change there is that the portions of sashimi and nigiri have shrunk by about 30%. While waiting for our food, the same server took another table's order while half-sitting on the empty table behind him. I doubt the people who eventually sat there would have appreciated knowing that someone's backside had been resting where their food would soon be served. With the new AUCE restaurant in town showing a lot of promise and serving good-quality food (maybe not quite the same selection or quality, but good nonetheless), I would expect a restaurant trying to position itself above that level to offer better service and menus that don't look like they were left next to a urinal before being brought back into the dining room. Seriously disappointing. What a quick fall. We'll probably give it one or two more chances, especially since I'm seeing similar comments here on Yelp, but after that we may have to start looking elsewhere again. To think we have recommended this place to a lot of people who might now question our taste in restaurants is not great... I genuinely hope management sees reviews like this and makes some changes, because they're heading in the wrong direction very quickly.

Dropped in for what was supposed to be a drink and a couple of apps, but we kept ordering more food because everything was good--we had a full dinner before we knew it. The standouts were the hamachi crudo and the oyster shooters. I wanted to go back the next day just for these shooters, but alas we didn't have time. The grilled eggplant skewer was also yummy and a good deal at $3. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering it's Napa. Sapporos were buy one get one free, which was an unexpected bonus.

Came here on a busy Saturday night and ended up scoring the last table. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive even though the restaurant was swamped. The food was amazing, our favorite was the yellowtail and amaebi. Cute little restaurant, we will be back when we're in the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food here. The takoyaki is legit and with a good heaping of nori! The nigiris were delicious with flavors that matched the fish really well. We enjoyed the crab coast roll as well. We also got a mango roll but you couldn't really taste the mango and also the sashimi salad but it was drowned by the vinaigrette. We suggest cutting the dressing by a bit. We would love to come back if we are in the area again!

Came by without a reservation for dinner on a Saturday and were lucky to be seated immediately despite it being quite busy. Despite the number of customers, it's quite spacious and upscale inside, with dim mood lighting. We ordered a hamachi collar and 4 rolls to share, which was just enough for us to be full. The fish was fresh, but some of the sauces and flavors didn't really seem to match the fish. The hamachi collar was excellent, and I would definitely get that again. For the price, it's not the best sushi you can get, but definitely a solid spot for the area with some good quality rolls that would be nice for a special treat or night out. I don't imagine coming here often but would definitely consider visiting every once in a while when I'm craving sushi and in the area!

veggie tempura roll w soy paper and mango crunch roll w soy paper

Went to amami with a friend after several recommendations and it totally delivered! Was told the prices were better the Eikos so wanted to give it a shot. Paid $100 for 4 rolls, miso, gyoza, and yakatori, which was totally reasonable. The veggie tempura and mango crunch roll were a little sweet, but still good (would likely skip mango next time). The waygu yakatori was 11/10- definitely recommend!

    Salmon teriyaki which was overcooked

While scrolling through Yelp where to have dinner in Napa, after learning that one of my favorite restaurants that I had chosen was closed that evening for a private party, I saw Amami Sushi and remembered that Chef Alan had opened a forth location here after his others located in San Bruno and South San Francisco. Only a short drive from where we were staying, we arrived at 6:30 pm on a Thursday evening where we were seated at a four top table adjacent to the sushi bar. Unlike his other 3 locations which are in older buildings where the interior dining area is not as modern, the Napa location is different. A clean, sleek and modern interior greets one who enters located on the corner lot shared by another business. Looking at the menu, we ended up ordering Karage and a Dynamite roll followed by a teriyaki salmon dinner and Hokkaido Don. Karage was fully cooked and very good however wish the outer skin would have been slightly kore brown. A slight hiccup occurred when I had requested my salmon be cooked rare and it came out Medium in which I politely returned it only to learn from the server that the kitchen had again cooked it again as Medium. At this point, my wife had already finished her entree as considerable time had passed before learning of the 2nd miscue. No worries as I decided to order the same entree as my wife and like hers the selected cuts of fish over the rice were very fresh and I especially like the dab of Uni over the fish. Ended up receiving a complimentary glass of wine afterwards and would still return here for my next visit. Just like his other locations they are only open for lunch and close for several hours before serving dinner starting at 5 pm. Restrooms are modern and clean during my visit and are shared with the other business located in the same building.

Amami was a great experience! We dropped in on a Saturday evening for dinner. We were greeted and seated right away. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. The waitress was very helpful with answering questions about the menu. We loved the sushi rolls and grilled seafood delicacies.

    15pc Omakase
    Brenny M.

A nice, little trendy spot in beautiful downtown Napa. We were the first to arrive shortly after they opened. Good thing, too, because this place filled up fast! Our drinks paired very well with the 15pc Omakase we ordered. This dish is either an all nigiri or all sashimi dish. However, the chef was kind enough to do a 50/50 split. As far as I'm concerned, it was a chance for their chef to show off his skills. He did not disappoint! We also tried the Ankimo aka Monkfish Liver. For the most part, I hate any kind of liver... until now! I was a little leary about trying it. But when i did, NO REGRETS!!! I was expecting the irony, gritty flavor usually associated with liver. Not this one. This had a very fresh & creamy smooth taste & texture, similar to uni, served in a little splash of ponzu with a few jalapeno slices. Absolutely delicious! The other dishes worth mentioning, but missed their photo ops, were the Philadelphia Roll, Tekka Maki, Takoyaki, and last, but surely not least, the soft shell crab. Looking forward to going back to explore the rest of their menu.

Big tasty roll! Forgot the name

The food looked fresh but tasted a bit fishy, I'm not sure what was happening here. A scallop hand roll for $22...$14 for 2 pieces of sashimi...not so sure about the prices...but my friend said, ' That's Napa for you...lol!' Great ambience, but look around for other options. Then again, it's Napa!

Date of Visit: 12/20/2025…read more This was our second visit to Kenzo Napa to celebrate our 4th Anniversary. Last time when we visited was the next day when we got married in Las Vegas! We stayed at Andaz Napa for one night before Christmas to celebrate our Anniversary, and we booked Kenzo Napa for the dinner and it was walkable distance from the hotel. Kenzo Napa was established by Kenzo Tsujimoto in 2016, and received Michelin 1 star in 2018, and every year ever since. The price for Kaiseki is $295 per person, and my husband ordered the Omakase Pairing $197 and I got a bottle of Aoki Shuzo, "Yuki Otoko" Junmai, Niigata $40 to pair with the set. 2021 Suzu First glass of the omakase pairing is the sparking rose. This is made with 54% Malbec, 37% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, with the smell of strawberry and blood orange. Cauliflower Chawanmushi The first dish is chawanmushi, with ginger, snow crab, etc. 2024 asatsuyu The second glass of the omakase pairing was the Sauvignon Blanc. The name is from Japanese meaning morning dew. Seasonal Hassun The second dish is the seasonal hassun, which is the traditional Japanese appetizer. Five different small dishes including the lotus root dumpling with bottarga, ehime bluefin tuna, shiso leaves rolled angel shrimp, Japanese yam with Italian caviar, and Hokkaido scallop with persimmon with peanuts. Sawahime Yamahai Junmai Third glass of the omakase pairing is the Junmai with the aromas of gardenia, ripe kiwi, papaya, green peppercorn, aged comte cheese. Yamaguchi Tilefish Owan This one is our favorite dish of the day! Very fresh and refreshing, with fish and vegetable and mushroom. Midorikawa Daiginjo The fourth glass of the pairing has a great hint of spice but elegant at the same time. Oita Sea Bream Sashimi The fourth dishes is the sashimi, paired with ponzu sesame shoyu. 2023 yui Rosé This Rosé was made with 65% Malbec, 26% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Paired greatly with the next course. Simmered Mie Toro Sawara Mackerel Love the texture of the mackerel. 2021 Asuka Asuka was made with 83% Cabernet Franc, 11.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot. Got 93 points on Wine Enthusiast. Wagyu Tendon and Japanese Taro Croquette This Croquette was made with Japanese taro and wagyu beef. 2020 Rindo And with the next course is the red blend made with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine has great berry aroma and spices. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Jibuni The seventh course is the A5 wagyu beef steak. Cut into bite sizes, with mushrooms and veggies. Daishichi Minowamon This sake has a strong smell of berry, banana, and pear. Velvety and buttery. Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Ikura and Mediterranean Bluefin Tuna Sushi Bowl served with red miso soup One of my favorite Japanese seafood bowl! Chef's Featured Desserts Three different desserts was great too. It has a goji berry panna cotta and fried spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and also a berry ice cream with caramelized walnut. And on the side there was a warm green tea, making a sweet and perfect ending.
