Assorted Large Sashimi ($60) is the star of the show. Very fresh!
    Edmond T.

We are in Napa and drove to Sonoma for some sushi. Located within a shopping mall, with lucky, Panda Express, etc (no judgement), Shige has a legitimate Japanese chef (Shige Mori) that brings real Japan to Sonoma. FRESH. AUTHENTIC. FAMILY. Made with care from the finest seasonal ingredients, presented in an artful composition, and served with deep respect, Shige Sushi & Izakaya brings the real Japan to Sonoma Valley. There are the staple items that catered to the American palate such as the bigger sushi rolls, but if you dig deeper in the menu also featured the more unusual fish as well as small plates and traditional donabe. My personal favorite is the large sashimi platter ($60) that even has the best "otoro" tuna in the mix. There is a menu featuring premium sake will complement well with your meal. Time to explore Shige, just ask for some of the more traditional authentic Japanese dishes and you won't be disappointed!

Best, and only, sushi spot in Sonoma. The food is fresh and delicious and the ambiance is amazing. I love their carpaccio, but all of their rolls are really good. I will say, the fried roll that I tried was mostly rice, but everything else was delicious and perfect My favorite roll was the crazy ninja. Can't wait to come back

We came here on a Saturday around 5:30. We ordered the karaage, dynamite roll and mixed tempura Everything was freshly made and tasted great. The mixed tempura had three shrimp and a great assortment of onion, green beans, zucchini, carrots, bell pepper. It was definitely plenty for two. The karaage was also nicely fried and still moist not dry. The dynamite roll had a good amount of crab meat on top. Everything was great. Definitely will miss coming to Sonoma and Shige Sushi. Our sever was friendly and gave us some great suggestions for which sushi roll to order. This restaurant is small and it was packed this day and we were seated at the bar. Which was kinda cool as we could see the sushi being made.

It's been a long time since I've had a chirashi bowl in the states that was as good as this one! I was blown away by the quality of the fish. Absolutely enjoyed every single bite and would return in a heartbeat to eat this again. We came for the lunch special and it brought me back to life. A meal I will be thinking about for a while!

Visiting from SF Bay Area and staying at the Sonoma Fairmont. We found this Japanese restaurant nearby and it was awesome. They opened up the back patio for us so we could bring our 2 dogs traveling with us. Thank you. The food was so authentic as we just had traveled to japan earlier this year and it tasted very close to the mother country. Even the owner hand delivered some of the dishes to us - what service!

Grabbed a quick to go lunch. Salmon roll and 2 pieces of Salmon Nigeri . The garlic edamame was a bit hard. The sushi was perfect.

Was craving sushi. Heard good things about this place and decided to check this out. When we entered we were greeted by the waiter, white male. He directed us to the table by door. We asked very nicely if we could sit in one of the other open tables away from the door. He started to give attitude and acted bothered. I noticed we were the only group he was rude to. Someone asked him where the restroom was and he just pointed without telling them. He was the worst part about this place. The sushi was really good. We tried the rainbow roll, salmon creek roll, godzilla roll, and crazy ninja roll. We enjoyed all of them. The rest of the staff was very nice and friendly. The waitress who primarily helped us was super friendly. The sushi chef (possibly owner) was also very friendly. He kept offering us beers lol. Overall i would go back

Hamachi sashimi (yellow fin tuna)! Delicious!

We recently moved full-time to Sonoma having lived in San Francisco for 30 years. In that time we ate at a lot of San Francisco Japanese restaurants and sushi bars, but never at a Sonoma sushi bar, and we learned from our experience in San Francisco that a key indicator of a sushi restaurant that cares about the quality of its food is the freshness of its sashimi (raw fish cut into thin slices). Is the maguro (the tuna) red and moist without smelling too fishy? Is the hamachi (yellow fin tuna) pink and also moist and not too fishy smelling? So when a friend, who also had lived in San Francisco for years, recommended a small Japanese sushi restaurant, Shige Sushi Japanese Kitchen, as "authentic", with very fresh sashimi, we decided to try Shige Sushi yesterday evening. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with red lanterns and posters of Japanese movies and events on the walls. The service was fast and friendly, and the jazz in the background was calming and light-hearted. And the sashimi was excellent! We had the hamachi, 10 slices for $18.00, served on a nice ceramic plate with wasabi mustard, and radish slivers, and a bowl of rice (extra), and the sukiyaki, a hot pot beef and noodle soup with a bowl of rice ($25.00). All fresh and delicious. We will certainly go back to Shige Sushi, and it may be our new favorite Japanese restaurant!

Can't believe this is the only Sushi place in Sonoma! Came for a very early dinner after some wine tastings, we showed up right at 5 when they opened and we were the first customers in. They have a very nice and secluded patio in the back. The staff was very friendly and the service prompt. I love gyozas, so I always order them, I was sooo relieved that they were not deep fried, I much more prefer them steamed and lightly fried, so they were delicious! For rolls, we tried the: - Crunchy roll ($8 tempura crunch on top of a California roll covered in eel sauce) - Ken Chan ($17 shrimp tempura, cucumber, and crab mix inside; Hawaiian style poke tuna, crab mix, and scallions on top) - Hot Hot ($16 Spicy Tuna, Cucumber Top: Spicy Hamachi, Chili Oil, Jalapeno). All of them were good and fresh. We also ordered the only non fried rolls, I would have liked if they had more fresh ones, I am not a fan of fried sushi rolls.

Service was immediate and attentive. A very nice young man delivered menus, tea, water and a carafe of water to our table. You have a choice of ordering on a tablet at the table or the server also came by to ask if he could take our order. Ordering on the tablet was super easy and straight forward. We ordered gyoza as an appetizer, one chirashi (sushi rice with fresh fish on top), and three of us ordered the 2-item bento: Teriyaki salmon & tempura Chicken katsu & shio saba Bulgogi & spicy tuna roll The bentos come with a nice miso soup and salad. They do offer a wide variety of rolls as well as an assortment of side dishes and salads. There is a robot that comes around to deliver food to the tables. Our server delivered the soup and salad to us personally. The robot delivered our main meals but our nice server walked to our table and took them from the robot and delivered them to each of us. Again, a very thoughtful touch. Our food was paced well and our server came to replace our carafe of water with a full one without having to ask. I heard the bulgogi was a bit on the sweeter side and the chirashi had a beautiful assortment of seafood. We enjoyed trying a new place and would definitely come back. There is a beautiful huge screen with an ocean channel playing on the far wall. I loved watching all the sea life in their natural habitat. Parking is easy shared with other businesses. This restaurant is easy to find right off of Lakeville.

I drove by many times before finally stopping in to try it. I live in the neighborhood so I figured why not give it a shot. I love the sushi here and the fact they only use real crab was a big selling point for me. The food is always great. I havent had one thing I didnt like. The reason I am not giving five stars is because the owner will not fire that rude waitress who works there!!! I have called only after she was rude to us like a handful of times!!! She literally hates her job clearly, she sits on her phone and has a dead look in her eyes. It is beyond unwelcoming, I only go for the food lol. She hates us I swear because we have come in a couple times at 8:30, they close at 9 btw. She will walk up and tell us we close at nine as we are finishing our meal, she never takes our plates and purposely ignores us when we need anything. Its awful! Just bringing some awareness because her behavior is totally unacceptable. Who leaves their text notifications on full blast while on the job as a waitress?! LOL UHHHGGGGGGG Anyways we love the sushi but cant stand the service, really hope he fires her someday.

We stayed at Andaz Napa for one night before Christmas to celebrate our Anniversary, and we booked Kenzo Napa for the dinner and it was walkable distance from the hotel. Kenzo Napa was established by Kenzo Tsujimoto in 2016, and received Michelin 1 star in 2018, and every year ever since. The price for Kaiseki is $295 per person, and my husband ordered the Omakase Pairing $197 and I got a bottle of Aoki Shuzo, "Yuki Otoko" Junmai, Niigata $40 to pair with the set. 2021 Suzu First glass of the omakase pairing is the sparking rose. This is made with 54% Malbec, 37% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, with the smell of strawberry and blood orange. Cauliflower Chawanmushi The first dish is chawanmushi, with ginger, snow crab, etc. 2024 asatsuyu The second glass of the omakase pairing was the Sauvignon Blanc. The name is from Japanese meaning morning dew. Seasonal Hassun The second dish is the seasonal hassun, which is the traditional Japanese appetizer. Five different small dishes including the lotus root dumpling with bottarga, ehime bluefin tuna, shiso leaves rolled angel shrimp, Japanese yam with Italian caviar, and Hokkaido scallop with persimmon with peanuts. Sawahime Yamahai Junmai Third glass of the omakase pairing is the Junmai with the aromas of gardenia, ripe kiwi, papaya, green peppercorn, aged comte cheese. Got 93 points on Wine Enthusiast. Wagyu Tendon and Japanese Taro Croquette This Croquette was made with Japanese taro and wagyu beef. 2020 Rindo And with the next course is the red blend made with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine has great berry aroma and spices. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Jibuni The seventh course is the A5 wagyu beef steak. Cut into bite sizes, with mushrooms and veggies. Daishichi Minowamon This sake has a strong smell of berry, banana, and pear. Velvety and buttery. Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Ikura and Mediterranean Bluefin Tuna Sushi Bowl served with red miso soup One of my favorite Japanese seafood bowl! Chef's Featured Desserts Three different desserts was great too. It has a goji berry panna cotta and fried spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and also a berry ice cream with caramelized walnut.
