They only take reservations for party 5 or larger. When we sat down, we were offered water and hot tea. For appetizer, I wanted to try takoyaki which was filling. Not sure what was inside it besides octopus. We ordered miso soup as well. I liked the baked scallop roll. Spider roll was good as well. Can't wait to try other rolls. Great new affordable Japanese restaurant in downtown Napa! We were so impressed... From the comfortable chairs and the whole vibe inside the restaurant! Molly was an absolute doll... Oh, my word! She said her brother is one of the chefs so it's a family restaurant! Who doesn't love to support that?? We were just blown away by the prices, though...We ordered the tempura mix for $10! And we couldn't even finish it. Three large shrimp, onions, zucchini, sweet potato, regular potato, carrot and broccoli! For $10! My husband got the pokey salad and he loved it and it was only $12 but he prefers when there is rice with it and it was mostly lettuce... well, a salad! Then he ordered one of the sushi rolls and it was also $12 and huge. I ordered the teriyaki steak since I don't like sushi. Wasn't a real fan but the rice was excellent and it also came with a salad for $19! Next time I will get the chicken. I also had a glass of sparkling sake... Boy was that fun! We rolled in here for my Birthday 2/5/24. We were blown away by this place. Over the last 34 years we eaten sushi places all over the the country and world. It's one of our favorite foods. Amami Sushi Bistro Napa has without question the best sushi we have ever experienced. From the moment we were taken to our seats at the bar by Molly we were in for a treat. She was a great host and kind enough to later explain the background on the restaurant. Our server Alexis was amazing and so helpful to bring a number of refills of our birthday beverage. The whole team here clearly understands how to deliver a memorable dining adventure. ALL our dishes were excellent. The Toro and Salmon were standouts. So good ! We look forward to coming back soon. I went here and tried to make a "substitution" to an order apparently. Not because I didn't like something but because I'm deadly allergic to it. I asked for them to not make my roll with avocado. Simple request, I mean all you have to do is NOT add something to a roll. Our waitress said sorry no substitutions allowed. I looked her dead in the eyes and said that's not a substitution. She began to argue with me. I told her if I'm not asking you to replace the item with something it's not a substitution. I told her if anything it's an omission or abstinence. She continued to argue. So I pulled out the ole handy dandy google. Showed her the definition, she continued to argue. Told her it was a food allergy and she had the audacity to state if you're allergic to things don't eat here. If anyone is wondering it was the hefty younger woman who stated this incase you have issues with her. After speaking with the manager and showing the recording of her arguing, we were assigned another waitress. Food still wasn't make correctly and had to send back sushi with avocado so I didn't die. I've been here twice for the omakase, and both times were fantastic. The 10-piece nigiri was definitely fulfilling, while the 12-piece left me stuffed. The fish on the nigiri is generously sliced. If you order the 10-piece sashimi, you'll end up with more than 10 pieces (no complaints here!). Plus, both times we received a complimentary miso soup or edamame while waiting for our meal. It was a little pricier than some other sushi places I've been to, probably because of its location in downtown Napa. However, they were able to quickly accommodate a large group of us for lunch. Service was friendly and positively intentioned but a bit slow/ awkward. The two people tending to diners were focused, active, attentive, and serious but it seemed like one more person would help with the flow. The food was delicious. Not elevated but delicious, which is also reflected in the reasonable (non elevated) prices for the delicious food. Lunch took a bit longer than we expected since each dish took a while to arrive at our table and the staff was busy tending to other diners but everything tasted good and ultimately we were able to pay and exit. I felt a pang about how much I enjoyed the interior furnishings, which are leftovers from when the restaurant space was designed for and operated by Hal Yamashita, but I suppose it is nice that those beautiful features (including the elegant wood chairs in the dining room) are being utilized. read more

We found ourselves in Napa after my son's SAT exam. We know that Napa is famous for its wine but we also know that it also has some of finest cuisine too. We decided to find a Japanese restaurant that had some good reviews and was decently priced. We had a nice friendly greeting by the hostess and seated right away. Our waitress came over with 2 menus but our party had 3. She then brought us over some waters and she asked us what we wanted but we were still browsing through the menu. When we were ready she walked over to take orders from two other parties before coming back to us which I thought was weird. Food was served pretty quick after we ordered which was cool because we were hungry. The quality was a step below other Japanese restaurants I've tried in Japantown in SF so I was definitely a little disappointed especially for the price I paid. Napa has quite a few sushi spots, but not many of them are really good, casual for locals, and don't break the bank. This one hits all three. Honestly some of the freshest sushi I've ever had, all of the rolls we got had unique flavors, and the presentation was beautiful. The sushi is fine, but this review is for to-go orders. I would highly suggest not calling them for to-go orders because they won't even start making your order until you arrive to pick you and remind them. We called ahead for a 8pm pickup at 5:45pm, given that the last time we tried to order for pickup it wasn't ready when we tried to pick it up, so we figured let's give them extra time. I arrived at 8pm and was told that the order should be ready, after the front host even commented that that order had been called in a while ago. He then came back and said it would be 10-15 minutes. 30 minutes later, nothing was ready and I was just straight up lied to. If he had told me it would 40 minutes straight off the bat, I probably would be upset but not this upset. Thank you for just lying to my face when you knew the order hadn't even been started. I then got told how I can't expect the sushi to be fresh if I call ahead. Yet there is an online ordering option where you can choose a time in the future to pick up your order, so that was more BS from the front of house. I have really enjoyed the sushi here, but the service experience for this to-go order has ruined my opinion of the restaurant. read more

Its clean and simple and the menu has some great options that you don't get elsewhere. Every possible fish and seafood variety is on there. Fresh as it can be.
