Ambriza is a nice place but I felt like they were trying to do to much with their food. The service was ok because there was bird poop on our table and they didn't clean it up after I pointed it out. The view outside was good but the birds were pretty annoying which took away from the experience. The waiter was nice and made suggestions. I felt the price point was a little high for what we got. I love coming here when visiting my daughter. We came here on a Sunday, so brunch was on the menu. To drink, I had a Mezcal Old Fashioned. I asked for it not too sweet. It came out sweet. She took it back and brought me another one. It was less sweet but still sweet. We got the Chalipitas de lechon. They were a bit messy but good. The lechin was super moist and tender. The maduros envuelto were ok. The smokiness of the bacon with the sweetness of the plantain was a nice flavor profile. For my main, I got the barbacoa and polenta. The meat was really tender and flavorful. The polenta is not any polenta I have ever had. It was super dry, not much flavor and not worth the calories! I pretty much just ate the egg and the beef. It came with some potatoes that were super salty and some fruit with Tajin. I'll definitely come back when I am in town again, but now I know what not to order. read more

The drinks were amazing!!! My wife had an original margarita and I had the sangria. The service was excellent. They noticed our food was taking longer than usual without us saying anything. So I would like to lead with the service was awesome. The server was welcoming and friendly. In all what I would expect. So then you ask why the 2 stars. If you must know it is 4.5 stars for service. The food ordered was good except for their seafood rice. I'm just gonna jump straight into it. The octopus was bad. It was so bad that the plate smelled fishy as well as tasted that way. To be honest, the ceviche that was ordered did not taste bad so I was a little confused although the chips which were plantains seemed a little stale and not fresh Asked for the rest of the food it was fine So you were asking am I making this post because I'm mad about the the octopus the answer is now. What I'm frustrated with is the two small ramekins of sour cream that had to be ordered because the rice dish that was ordered was so spicy on the first bite that it had to be cut. In addition to the sour cream was two dollars. Wallet is only two dollars bring me out chips and salsa and other sauces over and over which is free does not enhance my experience But getting sour cream so I can actually eat the meal I ordered because it is overly spicy at a charge. Makes me think twice about whether or not I should ask for something different. Thus intern picking somewhere else to eat I try to give my feedback multiple times this evening and I just wanted to share publicly that if McDonald's charged for ketchup, people might actually stop buying french fries. This was a $20 dish that in multiple cases was inedible Even if octopus was good. It was so spicy that it had no flavor just spice. Sorry, I just had to actually downgrade this after reading my bill. This cheap ass restaurant charge me an extra dollar for mole on their dry chicken. I'm sorry please make sure you have enough sauce for your food. A $60 meal which didn't include my wife's main course because it was inedible. After making her sick later this evening. I only happened to look at the receipt for a second time and noticed that I was charged a 3% surcharge for my credit card. Please do not walk around with a stupid manual device, handing it to me and charging me 3% for using something that is convenient for you If your company is going to charge me money for using a credit card, please just take the time to increase the price on all of your menu items included in the cost of doing business. Call it a day. Let me decide whether or not don't want to eat there please stop penalizing me for using a credit card in a restaurant that doesn't take cash. While this might not be my last post, I find that these scenarios make it my last visit at restaurants that I've taken a great menu, made it mediocre and are just trying to max their profits instead of the customer experience I'm sorry you all failed. I loved this place! We stopped in for brunch. I love the decor and the uniforms that the staff wears. We decided to get a few items to share. The chips and salsas were good. I loved that they gave you both read and green. The beef empanadas were flaky and very flavorful. The guacamole was very fresh, I just wish the portion was a little bigger. The street corn was creamy and had just the right amount of spice and flavor. The steak in the steak and egg tacos was super tender. I didn't care for the potatoes, they tasted like they were stewed, but I tore up the fruit. I'm not a fan of sopes in general and I think we picked the wrong meat for this dish. We asked if we could get biria sopes, which they so kindly gave us, but I don't think the flavors meshed well together. The biria had a dark rich flavor, but a little too much on the cumin side maybe. My absolute favorite here was the pan dulce and the serrano cucumber margarita. The pan dulce was soooo soft and delicious. It was served warm from a little cart that they pushed around the restaurant. Met up with my best friend and her family for Mother's day. My bestie has been here before and she she spoke highly kd this restaurant and she was right. As first-time patrons, they gave us complimentary bread that really stole the show. Add in the chips that youd expect from a Mexican restaurant and it was already off to a great start. Here we go! Mexican flavor was the taste today. Wow! I started with a Pork Belly and avocado mix with some flower tortillas. This was so good I could have ate it as my main dish. I had the tacos which were very well made, having good flavor, and dipping it in the red salsa was delicious. Service here is fantastic each time we go. Recently went with a group of 12 people. They attended to us right away and had us seated within about 5 minutes which was fantastic considering it was a saturday evening. We sat outside, had plenty of space for us to comfortably sit and move around if need be. They took our drink and food orders quickly and checked on every now and then to see if we needed to order more or get refills on anything. Food came out quickly, and because it was the first time there for about 9 people in my group they gave us some elotes (super yummy). I tried their guacamole for the first time and loved it! I have been here on several occasions. I've never really enjoyed their food. It's the same basic meals. The service has always been ok, so I'll tip for the service. What I'm beginning to see more often is these restaurants charging you a 3% service charge for not settling your bill with cash. Rather than giving these charges back to servers and staffs attending customers, these businesses pockets these charges. These tactics make customers feel less valued and scammed. It's a poor dishonest business practice that needs to go away. Why do they feel entitled to these charges and make customers uncomfortable for paying with the standard methods. read more

Tried 4 margaritas: Pineapple Serrano Passion Fruit Habanero Cucumber Serrano Watermelon (But can't remember if it was Serrano or Habanero) All were very good but I think the cucumber Serrano took the win with its freshness. Walked into Ambriza and was asked if I wanted to sit on the patio or inside me and my girlfriend decided to sit outside since it was a really nice day. Our waiter came over to introduce himself which his name was Robert, he asked us if we wanted to start out with anything we were waiting for their girlfriend. Somehow they brought out complementary street corn, which was delicious. Which was brought over by the manager who looked very young, but he was very nice. I ordered the quesadillas on the happy hour menu, which was six bucks and they came out extremely soggy because the chicken had a lot of juice and explained that they serve them , not edible. I like this place! I've been here a solid amount of times and just about everytime it's been a hit. I first came here with my gf forever ago, and have since been with her many times. I also put my mom onto this spot and it's now her go to for green enchiladas! I don't have a regular dish that I get as I have been trying different things. The one thing we all like is their elote so that will definitely get a shout out, and my gf has liked everything she's gotten as well as their brunch. I'm a fan of the vibes and the outdoor views too. The reason for my 3 stars vs 5 is mainly because I had a very rude waitress one of the two times I took my mom here for her birthday. I'm definitely no Karen when it comes to service as I've worked in the CS field myself plenty so I know how it is. It got to the point where I told her directly she was rude AF and went to other coworkers to get the manager which I never do. She came back and gave me some half a$$ apology about having a bad day only after she saw me surrounded by other wait staff and heard I asked for the manager. I ended up leaving before speaking to them but let her know she left a huge stain on that night. Also I think portions could be bigger. A friend brought me to Ambriza to celebrate my first birthday in Houston and we had a wonderful time! We sat outside and enjoyed the crisp air. Our server Kelsey was amazing! Last Monday I decided to take out my mom and sister for their All day happy hour. The hostess opens the door for us and asks if we would like to sit inside or outside. We opted to sit inside due to the rain. Our waiter was nice, and brought out our drinks fairly quickly. I tell the waiter, Sebastian, we would like an order of the chicken taquitos to start. He says that because we are not sitting outside the happy hour menu does not apply. He says that he can ask his manager if we can be moved outside. I told him we don't want to move and we did not know that was a rule. It's no where on the menu. He confirms that rule is not stated on any of their menus. He asks his manager (didn't get her name) if an exception can be made and comes back and tells us his manager said no. I personally did not like the back and forth that this situation brought. I have worked in plenty of customer service jobs when I was younger and this just seemed like a manager that did not want to be accommodating or try to make their customers happy.
