The food was so good I came back with my hubby I really enjoy the chips and salsa it has a little heat to it. The first time I can I ordered the risotto Mexicano they were out of octopus so I added shrimps this dish was amazing the risotto was cooked to perfection in my opinion this is considered a spicy dish but it wasn't over spicy just right. For my cocktail I ordered the banana breeze it was just ok I was looking for something more like a piña calado and that wasn't it. For dessert I had the pan de elote not pictured it was definitely different, it's a traditional Mexican sweet cornbread pudding topped with rompope and caramelized popcorn ice cream. My second round at the restaurant for the cocktail I had the Ambriza coconut daiquiri now that's the taste I was expecting my only complaint is they could add more liquor it tasted like a shake than a cocktail. Next time I will definitely ask for a shot of rum or to have them add more into the cocktail. We also had the pork belly with homemade guacamole the guacamole is one of the best I've had it was delicious I personally didn't care for the pork belly but my husband loved it. I ordered the trio fajitas with corn tortillas and it was hot, hot came out sizzling to perfection it was very good and last but not least for dessert I had the cuatro leches with coconut and shaved chocolate, it was not horrible but I've had better. Both time My waiters did a wonderful job they kept the water glass filled and asked if anything was need both were very knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. The first time I sat outside the view of the lake was beautiful but that Texas heat is no joke. They do have ceiling fan I would suggest some misting fans or machines to keep customers cool while dining outside. Second time I dined inside much better but the bugs and flies were a nuisance that's the reason for my four star rating. Besides the flies and bugs being attracted to the food I think it was the fresh flowers on the tables as well. My husband and I will be returning for happy hour and appetizers for sure and after some time back for some more of the delicious food the portions are well worth it you get a lot of food. AMAZING! From our greeting at the hostess to the final shot of their signature Wellness Cleanser, it was an absolutely amazing experience. We wandered in for cocktails and maybe some chips but we ended up spending our afternoon there and sharing so many yummy, yummy items including some we weren't expecting. Perfect service. This place has a great energy and vibe! Their happy hour runs until 7pm on weekdays which is really nice and has happy hour food prices as well. Our server was great and attentive. I ordered a chicken with cactus and yuca fries and it was flavorful. Cooked cactus has the texture of cooked green beans but has a slightly sour flavor to it if you are curious. There were margaritas left and right of us. I didn't get to try one, but they looked pretty good and a decent size. It was a perfect spot for a girls night to catch up and laugh without being "that" group that is talking too loud. The whole place is lively with music and people socializing. read more

I want to start with the location, this restaurant is located in such beautiful area, so many shops, live music and a lake with a wonderful view! You have to make a reservation because it's always so busy! They have AMAZING food, drinks and service, all the staff is very attentive and really take care of you. Went for the first time the other day and were thoroughly impressed!! Let me first start by saying come at an odd time or expect a long wait, the restaurant is always busy! Our waiter was very friendly and welcoming. He informed us they have the best Margaritas, yet we didn't try them this time. We asked for a recommendation on appetizers and he pointed us to the tostones and they were absolutely delicious! Surprisingly to us, we also got complementary street corn as they learned it was our fist visit. For our meals, we had the enchiladas Roja and pato al mole. Service and food are great. Price is fair as well. I have been to two locations in Cypress and close to the vintage. Both were solid. I always get the tacos which have been tasty. They also remember me and that feels good to. Not much of a drinker but folks do seem to come to this place and just hang out with margaritas. They have TV screens and are usually showing some type of sports game. Definitely worth a visit. read more

WITH A HEAVY HEART It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write this review update as I am taking away one star from my rating. I recently visited Ambriza this past Saturday with my sisters and my children. Since I absolutely fancy this establishment, I'm always recommending it to my friends, family, and co-workers. However, I must keep it honest with everyone. It is imperative that I boast about the good as well as the bad. My family and I have our own little tradition where we celebrate my mom's birthday every year by visiting her grave and giving Egun. For those of you who are not familiar with Egun, it's simply paying homage and giving thanks unto your ancestors. So anyway, after we cleaned my mom's plot and placed some fresh pretty flowers and wind spinners all around, and said some words, we were ready to go eat. This year I chose Ambriza to celebrate our ancestor's birthday because I love the concept of this establishment as they also celebrate their ancestors. As for the drinks, food, and service, everything was excellent as always! My family enjoyed the dining experience, and were raving about the ambiance of the atmosphere. They liked that we were seated outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the lake and the boats. Although the day started off with thunder and heavy showers, the weather ended up being nice with a slight breeze and a beautiful golden sun smiling down at us, which is perfect for patio dining. The overall, aura of the atmosphere was calm and semi-lively. I'm pretty sure it gets even more lively during dinner hours. I've never visited during those hours so I'm not sure. Furthermore, our server Aylin C., was a little on the quiet side and appeared to be a bit intimidated by the size of our party. It was only six of us, but I believe that she was a new server and probably still in training. She attended to all of our needs and was friendly enough. She wasn't over-the-top welcoming or anything like that, but I sensed that she was nervous, so I tried my best to make her feel calm by making small relatable conversation. When it was time for us to pay our bill, this is where the problem emerged. She overcharged my son, my youngest sister, and me. I thoroughly read my receipt before paying my bill. Everything was correct until I made it to the bottom of my receipt and saw that I was charged for sour cream. I never asked for sour cream because I don't eat it, lol. She immediately fixed the problem. I paid my bill and gave a $20 tip. However, my son and my sister did not ask for their receipts. My son found out that he was overcharged when Aylin brought his change back to him. He gave her a hundred dollar bill and she brought back $54. He only ordered an entree and a non-alcohol beverage. As a result of this, my sister became suspicious about her bill as well and asked they both asked to see their receipts. After my sister read her receipt, she noticed that she was charged for an extra margarita (Large) and an extra Quesadilla entree. Thank God that Ana, the manager/boss, was working this day because I asked for her immediately. She saved the day and did it so graciously and ladylike. Ana was professional, well mannered, and apologetic. They ended up owing my son $23 and owing my sister $30. For this, I had to update my review and take away one star from my rating. I was going to take away two stars, but I was so impressed with how Ana and Jorge handled the situation. There wasn't any animosity or ill-feelings among any of us. My family and I were patient as Ana worked through the details to figure out what happened. Overall, I am still highly recommending this establishment for anyone who loves great tasting Margaritas and exquisite authentic Mexican food. The customer service is impeccable and professional. The food is always mouthwatering and delectable. The ambiance of the inside dining area is dim lighting with a moderate to medium noise level. As you enter the front doors, the first thing you will see are the statues of the ancestors which is so awesome. The decor is colorful and filled with beautiful murals on the walls. It gets pretty crowded at this establishment. Therefore, I recommend that you arrive early to place your name on the waitlist in case there are no available tables. Although we encountered an issue with being over charged, I am still standing by my opinion that they have the best Margaritas in all of Houston! They continue to remain my Final Destination HotSpot for Margaritas! read more

The food, the service, the views, and the atmosphere were all on point. It was pretty busy so we stopped at the beer world to try some of the local taps. However their are so many things to do to make the wait go by faster so check out the scene. When our table was ready we chose to sit outside and have a view of the lake. Our server was so sweet and she recommended some great drinks for us to kick off our night, their house margarita. I really enjoyed the elote and my seafood enchiladas. If you're looking for a place to waste your life away, this is it. We waited over an hour just to be seated--and no, it wasn't worth it. I've aged, reflected on my life choices, and nearly wrote a will in the time it took to get a table. The hostess seemed completely unfazed, like this was normal. Spoiler: it shouldn't be. By the time we were seated, I was no longer hungry--just irritated and mildly dehydrated. Honestly, I've had faster service at the DMV. Ambriza is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Definitely worth five stars. The people that run this place put a lot of love and effort into their menu. Everything is top-notch, full of flavor and simply amazing food. The views sitting outside are pretty relaxing and this should be a go to restaurant if you're in the area. Food: I got their mixed Grill platter and it was amazing. It came out with grilled beef and chicken fajitas along with grilled shrimp and it was simply perfect. Every single bite was full of flavor and tasty. Oh I just remembered it came with the ribs as well. The ribs were very flavorful as well. We got an appetizer of some queso with chorizo inside of it and that was very good. The hot sauces are so good. Their menu is one of the best. Oh I forgot we got some of the street corn as well as an appetizer. Their Street corn is amazing. I'm telling you right now ambriza is doing it right. I have been back a handful of times and it's changed.. I think it's just not as good as when I used to go. The last time that I have been back was a few months ago and I was having dinner with my cousins. We ordered a ton of appetizers such as; the street corn, pork rinds, Brussel sprouts, ceviche, and calamari. I think the best thing out of all of the appetizers was the pork rinds and that shouldn't be the best when I can buy them from a gas station :( The ceviche had dragon fruit and it was just an odd pairing, didn't go well at all. Calamari wasn't anything special just kinda there and the Brussel sprouts just tasted straight burnt but there was no char or crisp whatsoever. The worst thing was that we told the waiter we didn't like them at all and didn't want another one but they still gave us a new batch and it still had that burnt taste :(( The margaritas were nice and we enjoyed them with our chips and salsa in the beginning so that was good. I've visited couple of times through the years they've opened but something about it recently just makes me want to visit their restaurant on repeat. Love the Boardwalk at Town Lake. Its so chill and refreshing out there by the water. I also get to see my dream houses!! Checked out Ambriza and World of Beer. Good cosmopolitan and rock band at world of beer. Ambriza was good but not the best Mexican food I've had. The pork belly lettuce wraps were DISGUSTING. But the fajitas were pretty good. Green sauce and warm salsa pretty good too. The cucumber strawberry margarita was on point too. But can't beat eating outside in Houston humidity with a slight breeze. The decor and theme is pretty awesome and unique at this place, even down to the dresses the ladies at the front wear. Service was very good, polite, accommodating, and attentive. This place has everything going for it, except the food. We weren't impressed with the food. It wasn't pretentious or anything like that. It actually appeared to be extremely authentic food. The food just wasn't as flavorful as you'd expect. We got a huge, family-sized fajita platter that came with everything, and we also tried the elote. The best things we tried were the elote and charro beans. Yeah, I know. None of the meat tasted close to as good as other fajitas we've had. El Tiempo and even Pappasitos blows Abriza out of the water when it comes to fajitas. All of their drinks were good though. I could see this place as an awesome place for drinks and appetizers with friends or a date. We might be back to try it again, but it's not at the top of our list. This place is a nice spot for happy hour or a celebration. We've been here several times and the food is always on point. My biggest pet peeve about this place and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that the environment inside is way too loud. And it's not because of the people, it's because of the music. We always ask to sit outside for this reason, but on cold days when they don't have their heaters working, we have to make do and sit through the loud music. The waiters we've encountered have always been nice, but they're not that attentive once you order your food. They also always forget to bring the receipt when you ask them to. My favorite dishes there are the street corn, beef or chicken empanadas, chicken quesadillas, crema poblana, and arroz con leche. So I'm sitting here at the bar of Ambrizia because I am on the wait list for a table on the patio. We were told it would be half an hour wait for a patio table however, I have been sitting here looking at 8 empty tables as I drink my margarita. When I inquired I was told by the hostess that there is a waiting list (which I understand and I'm on the said list). So help me understand how long should a table sit empty for a waitlist? I am the opinion five or ten minutes is a reasonable amount of time for someone to show up for a table and then shouldn't they move on down the list to the people that are standing here waiting? Am I missing something here? Am I being over critical? I have come to this restaurant several times and the service seems to get worse each time I come. We got a table for four outside, where the view of the water really added to the ambiance, and ordered the guac table, drinks, and our food. We're regulars at (and fans of) the Louetta Road location, but this was our first meal at Towne Lake, and I'm happy to report that it meets the same high standards. Always great food, excellent margaritas, and great service. This visit, we ate outside on the patio, overlooking the lake, and with a mild evening, the ambience couldn't have been better. Highlights this visit: chicken empanadas (any empanada at Ambriza is worth getting), and, surprisingly, the tableside guacamole, which can be yawn-inducing (from a taste standpoint) at some restaurants. This was fantastic. If you're looking for a cheap Tex-Mex meal, just keep driving past. But if you want to pay a little more for some fantastic Mexican food+drinks, I don't know of a better option than Ambriza. read more

I've had a variety of food such as the guacamole, enchiladas, fish tacos, street corn, fajitas, empanadas and I don't even know what else. It's flavorful tasty Mexican food. Table side guacamole is fun to watch them do. The food always has me coming back but the last time I went was for happy hour and something that kind sucked happen. We were seated with 15 minutes left before HH ended. I mean that's enough time to order some apps and drinks but not when it takes some to be seated and waiting for your waiter to come. He came and gave us 2-3 minutes maybe to look at menu and then he came back and table of 8 was ready. He then forgets something goes and gets it and then takes order. By the time it got to me HH was over and I couldn't order anything from the HH menu he said he can't do anything cause it's how the system is. I get it but it's not my fault the waiter took a good amount of time to come to us and then forget I think his device to take our order. The manager came by and ask how things were while everyone waited for their drinks and then I ask so if we are here and get seated before HH but then HH is over before we get to order you can't do anything about that. She said I'm sorry it's just how the system is but what would you like and I can take care of it. ^ that right there is good customer service that should be echoed to the workers. The only off putting thing is the menu smells like old water from a towel that's been sitting there. And sure enough it's cause they use a towel to wipe the menus.
