I can not recommend Ambrose Solar enough! We shopped around for solar installers but when we met with Paul at Ambrose we knew we had found a good fit. Paul really took the time to understand what we wanted to accomplish with the project, and helped us dial in the best fit for us. Carissa did an amazing job being our main point of contact and keeping us and the project on track. She was always a pleasure to talk to. I don't remember his name, but the electrical engineer who actually designed the system called me a couple times, making recommendations based off supply availability. It seemed like he got excited at one point when he called me saying, "I think I figured out a really cool way to make this work!" Bud and Justice were the two main installers for our solar panels and backup batteries along with a handful of other guys wow got the panels on the roof. They worked cleanly, were respectful of our space, seemed to enjoy working with each other and even played with my four year old boy when he got out to see what they were doing. Bud did a great job taking me around and showing me how the system worked, what to do, and what not to do. After most of the system was installed we had to wait a few weeks for a monitoring piece of equipment (supply chain problems). The two guys who came out, Wes and Irvin, did a fantastic job installing that piece, synchronizing the system, and making sure I could see all the information on my apps on my phone. I wanted to reach out and thank you for setting this project up--although we still have inspections pending the install went wonderfully. That's a good bunch of guys you have working on your team. In all sincerity my past solar installs with other companies always had issues, but this went damn near flawlessly. All of my concerns were addressed and covered, including the trenching near existing lines, beefing up the pumphouse walls, etc. Also really appreciated the cleanliness of the work areas--when the crew was done the trenches were like they were never there, conduit painted, areas swept and tidy. Going solar has always been an interest of ours for the past few years but with mass amount of solar providers out there now competing for your business and the handful of nightmare stories I've heard from solar users, it's been pretty daunting trying to figure out how and where to start. I've spoken to a few companies before stumbling across Ambrose but they ended up being either super pushy, not respecting my requests or concerns and/or were pushing poor equipment and having few answers for questions. Eventually I was referred to Ambrose whom I never heard of. From the very first call, all my questions were addressed, detailed breakdowns were provided and no harassing follow up calls were made. They either called when it was agreed upon or were readily available when ever I called! Getting started was hassle free (completed via zoom and electronically signing documents via email). Set up was fast, panel and battery crew always arrived early (takes 2 days to set up system) and we're finished before I knew it. After install, it took some time before the switch to solar could happen but that was no fault of Ambrose or Sunpower. We had to wait for PG&E to provide us with a permission to operate which took about a month. We did run into one hiccup regarding the power wall. A connector was broke on one of the batteries which prevented us from commissioning the power wall sooner. But instead of repairing the connector, they replaced the entire battery! All in all, working with Ambrose has been fantastic! I am thankful for everyone that took what was an overwhelming project and made it a pleasant and guided experience. Ambrose Solar just completed the entire installation and implementation of our home solar system. I am nothing but satisfied over the entire process from beginning to finish. I did compare Ambrose with another well-known company, and Tory from Ambrose had given me a much better presentation and pricing. We did our homework, contacted several installers and ultimately went with Ambrose Solar and we regret nothing. Communication was fast and responsive. Even had text updates. When I needed to get in touch with someone throughout the PG&E process it was easy. Best of all they're a local company which meant that they could come out same day if necessary if any problems arise. Their prices are very competitive and they are an authorized installer of SunPower which means we have a 25 year bumper to bumper warranty on the system, from installation to the panels themselves. They were able to get us scheduled within weeks of our consultation and finished the install in one day. They handled the approval process and within 2 months we went from consultation to actually having a solar generating system up and running. Bottom line is that after reaching out to many installers I came to the conclusion that you want a responsive company, preferably local. I'd call a week later, talk to Tori AGAIN, and she would say, oh maybe by end of the week. This went on for about 5 weeks. Site visits scheduled for a window would be missed. I would call, no apology or anything, then they'd give me a new window which would also be missed. A guy finally came to do an "inspection" and did nothing. Didn't even get on the roof. We were referred to Ambrose from a friend of ours who had done his research and did compare them with other solar providers and they were the best rated, had the best panels and the cost was comparable if not better. With the new NEM 3.0 law coming in April we needed to get solar ASAP. I called to get a quote and was given three options and we chose Sunpower M series panels. They were definitely more expensive but the quality and warranty make up for the cost difference, the break even point is 6.6 years. The next step was to get our roof inspected which happened fast and the initial proposal was used and the cost was exactly what was quoted. Next it was time to get permits from the city which happened fast and we were ready to schedule installation but I had to get approval from the HOA first which was definitely a process but was approved very quick as well. We were able to schedule install quickly and the process took 2 days and be ready it is very noisy so be prepared. The crew was great and answered all of my questions and told me what the next steps would be. Next up was the final inspection which happened 2 days after and Ambrose provided a rep for the city inspector which took about an hour. Now the last step before being able to turn on the system is get PG&E to approve the system which Ambrose does all the paperwork, you just have to sign one paper electronically. I was expecting to wait 30 days but they only took 4 days so then we were ready to turn on our system. I called Ambrose and they walked me though the process and we were up and running! They scheduled a follow up call for 2 weeks and this was just to answer any questions I might have and then schedule a follow up call for 6 months from now. The app is great, it shows live what solar is producing and what we are using so if you want to know what appliances use its a great app, it even shows what each individual panels are producing to ensure they are working at their peak performance. The whole solar power industry is really shady. Like a bunch of used car salesman trying to sell you a system and get you to sign. Then reality hits when a month later the actual engineer comes out to tell you the panels won't fit, or put out the power you need. Ambrose wasn't like that. Ian's layout was spot on where the panels would fit on my roof around all the vents and gables. When the engineer did come out, he didn't have to adjust a thing. The three other companies didn't do that. When choosing Solar you are making a 20plus year commitment. First rule is what solar technology you want to use. Second is who do you want installing it on your roof. Third and final is who you going to be able to track down if something goes wrong. First, Sunpower has the best solar technology on the planet. Period. The micro-inverter technology really comes into play if you have any partial shading issues or when a bird craps on your panel. Second and Third is Ambrose is a local company with ties to Vacaville and great reviews. I've had my system running for about three months now. The only reason they aren't getting five stars is they knew I was going to write this review, (we talked and joked about it) and were handling me with velvet gloves. Even with that some things wrent awry. To their credit everything was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction, it just took some effort on my part and some of it should of never happened. I did come out very satisfied with my install and experience with Ambrose. But a little better followup and supervising would of avoided those hiccups. My recommendations on getting solar, buy more than you need, because your electricity demand will only go up, it is a 20 plus year investment. Don't sign anything until you interview a couple of different companies. Call Ambrose last, because you will appreciate them more that way. And Ian is a great guy. read more

Ian Finger came out to my house and spent a long time answering questions and going over what to expect with solar. Frankly I was reluctant because I have always heard stories about how companies would put on only the number of panels necessary to keep PG&E in a certain tier. He understood my concern and worked diligently to maximize roof space. After seeing that solar installed through Ambrose would save hundreds each month it was a no brainer. City approval of the plans came next and that was not an easy task to say the least. The size of the system on an older house created concern from the inspector. Jumping through hoops, Ambrose made sure that they did everything that was asked of the inspector even though other cities don't have the same requirements. This included digging a trench down the side yard and installing larger conduit to run bigger wire in order to upgrade the panel. Although they started the work Pat Ambrose continued to work behind the scenes with PG&E and the City to ensure that the system is safe. Ultimately the city signed off and off to PG&E for the next level approval. The approval of PG&E took some time. Obviously they aren't in a big hurry to turn on the system because it means buying less energy from them. I was kept in the loop the whole time through text and email so I knew that Ambrose was on it. Today I constantly produce more than what I need and an electric bill is a thing of the past. I can't say enough good things about these guys. They are professional and sincerely a step above all the other companies. They take the time to run wires through the attic so you don't see conduit on the roof. They paint the stuff on the outside of the house. They measure and re-measure before install to make sure it all looks perfect. I will only recommend Ambrose Solar as they will take care of the customer and leave you happy! read more

My wife hired Ambrose Solar and was very impressed with the team with the main panel installation crew. Yesterday, we had the subpanel switch out as well as the solar panel installation. This was during a major heatwave and they brought a huge team to knock it out in one day. The solar team (Alex, Arnulfo, Leo, Kyle, Skyler & Diego) was very professional and consulted me with a few aesthetic designs. They also had to come in the house and wore masks which is very appreciated. They also painted the conduit and wires to match the house. The foreman when questioned if something should be painted said "Even if we didn't do it, we should always try and make it look better" which I think sums up the Ambrose philosophy. The 2 electricians: Brandon & Irvin had a very long day and provided me with a generator during the day. They also patched up the area around the subpanel and asked if I wanted them to stay to do a final painting. They were thorough, polite and professional. We moved to our new home the end of last year from out of the area. We had solar in our previous home and wanted to do the same in our new one. Searching for trustworthy people to do work on your home when you have not previously lived in the area is difficult.
