Used to be an amazing clinic with a great doctor Dr Sandhu and staff that truly cared about their clients and patients. Unfortunately, ever since corporate took over, the quality has gone downhill fast. The new doctors they're bringing in just don't compare to the original team, and the entire atmosphere feels completely different now. It's honestly disappointing to see such a good place ruined by corporate management decisions. Long-time clients are definitely noticing the change. I would not return to this facility. We had a noon appointment for my dog's dental cleaning, and upon arrival we followed the posted instructions to call before entering. Despite having an appointment, we were told to wait until they gave us permission to come inside. After checking in, we waited approximately 48 minutes in the lobby before being taken to an exam room. During that time, several clients who arrived after us were brought in ahead of us. Once in the exam room, staff members came by briefly several times without providing any updates. On the third visit, the doctor entered, asked for our last name, and then left. During the fourth brief visit, the doctor listened to my dog's heart, confirmed that his teeth could be cleaned, and said he would return with a quote. He never came back. In total, we spent about an hour and forty-five minutes at the clinic with no clear communication, no estimate, and no progress. When I informed the receptionist of the long wait, she did not offer an apology or acknowledgment on behalf of the hospital. At that point, I decided to leave with my dog. read more

Dr Sandhu, and his staff especially Kimberly and Cristina are amazing. Doctor Is kind and patient and a true expert in Doberman ear cropping. My sweet boy Apollo had his ears cropped by another vet and one flopped. Dr Sandhu made it right. Doctor's attention to detail and perfection was greatly appreciated for a good outcome. Not only that his tech technicians in the back office are amazing as well. Everyone treated me and Apollo so kind and warm and comforting. Thank goodness Apollos ears are perfect now. My1 dog was under your care for 6 months for a caugh that progressed to breathing difficulty, you prescribed antibiotics,( with no blood work or exrays done) I brought her back because her breathing and caugh were getting worst and I pointed out a mass I felt on her neck. You said this mass is the reason her breathing was strained. You suggest surgery to remove and mass and send it to the lab for testing.(Still no blood work or exrays taken) Surgery day came you performed the surgery prescribed antibiotics and pain meds and told me to come back in 2 weeks for lab results. In this 2 weeks period my dogs breathing had gotten worst along with the caugh. I came in for the follow up and lab results and to let you know my dog is getting worst, you tell me you didn't send the mass to the lab on my request. (WRONG) I tell you my dog is dying and can't breath. You tell me it was because sometimes after removing a mass the cavity can fills up with fluid and more then likely this is what's happening and asked to examine my dog again. I said no you are a scam and not going to touch her I'm taking her to emergency pet facility. You proceed to get loud and point your finger in my face saying you did me a favor by charging $900 for the procedure and continue to tell me how you were the best of your class and how high your test scores were when you were in school. ( The reason you became so enraged was because this isn't the first time you have been called out on your bull shit)..... I take my dog to the emergency vet and in 1 hour they take exrays and see many tumors in her lungs and a tumor by her nasal cavity...... Sadly my dog would not come home alive. I hope I can help someone prevent this from happening to their baby. I brought my Frenchie Loui to get neutered here on Monday, february 10th. Everything seemed ok when I picked him up. 3 days later starting Thursday he started getting a little swollen, i assumed maybe it was normal from healing from what i had researched online. Friday evening, he blew up. The swelling was not only in his area, but it started going to his chest, he had a lump forming, and his back legs were getting really swollen, his balls we're bright red, hard, it was terrible. American pet hospital closes at 5.... There on bank hours.. lol... so I had to rush to another emergency vet to get him seen..... $2,000 later at the new vet it turned out to be a huge infection. they did a surgery on him and got a ton of puss out of his body, drained, and put him on a tonnnn of antibiotics... This vet informed me that it had healed normal on the outside, but the infection was internal, something that would have occurred during the neuter. My loui now has a drain tube in his area to keep draining out infection. He'll have this drain tube in for a week, and another long recovery ahead. I went to this vet because it's cheap, and well there you have it. I ended up spending way more in emergency and I almost lost loui due to this. This place American pet hospital does surgeries every day, but they have the audacity to close on the weekends, and not to mention during the week they close at 5 PM? Like who do you guys think you are, you're not a bank having those kind of hours lmfao ur a pet hospital. you guys need to be open at least until 8PM and if you're operating doing surgeries every day during the week, you should at least have to be open Saturday and Sunday for a couple of hours just in case one of your patients has an emergency from a complication of the surgery that YOU guys performed. U guys don't even have a vet to take an emergency call on the weekends, what kind of practice is this. The cost has been at the low end of the range for services in this area from a private vet office. I have always had good service. I now have adopted a friendly indoor-outdoor cat who is getting good care here. I have no complaints, except from the cat, of course, but he's a big cry-baby. I saw a review from someone who said that this office doesn't allow you into the exam room. That has never been true for me at any of my many visits here. read more

The regional manager by the name of Deniz Garrett bans customers at his leisure. I was banned due to an interaction at "American pet "clinic" in "Ceres." So "american pet "hospital" in "Modesto" had to cancel my appointment two days before a spay and neuter ironically from the only two puppies that survived from Ceres. The corporation is out of Texas. I contacted Texas and I am still waiting for a response it has been two months now. They are investigating. This is my Great Dane Reno! He got his ears cropped at American Pet and I am very happy with the results! The Vet paid attention to detail and was able to achieve a very elegant, clean ear crop on my pup. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and informative. They made the process easy and convenient. My only concern was that they didn't call me after his surgery to tell me how it went, so I had to call to get an update. Nonetheless, he did great postoperatively at home and the meds prescribed to him seemed to keep him comfortable. He was eating and trying to play the same day I took him home! The Vet Office is extremely busy. I had a total of 3 boxers whose ears needed to be cropped. I personally paid for the laser service. We had no issues with healing. Everything was a great process. I wish they did offer posting service but they don't with the help of a Facebook page posting became very easy. The front office gal, Christina is extremely nice and very helpful. The female veterinarian was completely incompetent, she didn't mention the heart murmur my dog had, and after I asked if she had heard it she said it was a 2nd grade- despite him having a higher grade- which was confirmed by all of the previous vets he had seen. I believe they are completely taking advantage of the owners not being in the exam room OR BUILDING and giving very SUBPAR EXAMS. awful awful experience. I had tried this place because of the cheap exam cost (even after reading the recent spike of poor reviews) but was a COMPLETE waste of money and time and a very very awful experience. I am an upset/sad dog mama. FINALLY got Hammy's record's released from American Pet Hospital on Thursday, 6/18/2020, after several calls and broken promises from the staff that the records would be ready "soon." Nearly three and a half weeks is NOT my definition of soon. Even when I got the records, they were not complete until I went IN and stayed until I got what I needed. They also STILL have not released my cat's records. I took him in to a new vet. The doctor called me. "Hi. After examining Hamilton and looking at the labs you brought, I have some concerns." APPARENTLY, the previous labs showed that his liver enzymes were off AND his calcium level was off too. Do you think the the vet at AMPH said anything about that? NO! He only said he was "slightly anemic and had a low grade infection." My dog did NOT get any better. I had called and spoken with the doctor and was told, "Just be patient. The medicine will work." WRONG! The new vet, JUST by looking at the old labs, doing a THOROUGH exam and listening to me can tell there's a problem. Now, not only has my poor guy gone down hill and gotten more miserable, due to someone's half wit assessment of the results, but now, we are starting over, 6 weeks later. 6 weeks of progression and discomfort for my dog, because the vet did not do the job I PAID him to do. I am beyond frustrated and saddened. I have placed numerous calls in an attempt to address my concerns with both the manager AND the medical director. I even sent a message via Facebook. All of which have gone unanswered. I had hoped to sit down with the office manager and/or the medical director to address my concerns, but that's not possible, if they won't return messages. My dog is in good hands now, and has a diagnosis and treatment plan, and for THAT I'm grateful. Please. I implore anyone to think very carefully if you're considering using this facility. I learned a hard lesson, and my fur babies deserve better than this. On Wednesday, I got through to the office manager Jason. I told him every issue I had with the facility: the lack of proper treatment/diagnosis of my dog, the disorganization of the records department, the disrespectful way some of the front desk staff behave... Jason asked what could be done to make me happy. I told him, "I want my cat's records (starting with the first time I brought him in, after he became my responsibility, instead of the rescues.) I told him I want a refund for my dog's visit, being as Dr. Jacobs did a half ass job and did NOT properly go over his labs, nor let me know there was a problem, and did NOT provide the proper treatment AND the refusal to release his records for 3 and 1/2 weeks, meant my poor guy was unable to get help quickly and meant he was unnecessarily uncomfortable. The next day, Jason called and offered me a partial refund, provided I would sign a release of liability form. The form has a clause that in essence said I would have to keep quiet after the fact. NOT HAPPENING. If someone asks my opinion/experience, I am sharing! That afternoon, I finally got face to face with the medical director, Dr. Sandhu. I laid out every issue and told him I would not sign something that would silence me. He looked at the chart. Told me I really had no reason to fret. He told me Dr. Jacobs is seventy something years old and we are LUCKY he's still practicing. "It's good for the economy." I told HIM, "There comes a time in life when everyone needs to retire. As a business owner, you should realize that Dr. Jacobs is damaging your business and maybe it's time for him to go. He also that HE works with rescues. "Do you think I get paid for this? I never get a penny!" I countered with, "I'm sure you get the benefits of a tax write off." Our conversation was quite detailed, feel free to message me if you would like more information. He took his black ink pen and crossed out the clause about "keeping quiet." I said, "No. rewrite the document." He then took a black marker and scribbled it out. He tried for several minutes to convince me to sign. "You are constructive. Not like other people who are trying to destroy everything I have built with my own blood and sweat. That's why I am talking to you. Just sign the form. I will not sue you." Finally, to end the conversation, I told him, "I am taking this form home to think about it and I will let you know." I have thought about it. The answer is, NO!" I am not signing anything that will silence me. I've never done this before, but it seems the only recourses I have are the board and small claims. It's not about the money, but about accountability. It's about speaking up for those who can not speak for themselves, our precious fur babies. read more

I'm giving this hospital zero stars for the fact when I went to go do a C-section they never gave me all the pups and I went all the way home which is was 2 hr away it took them two hours to realize they were missing a pet to give me I called the hospital asking for credit for that mistake and all they offered me was 10% for next time. When they were at fault, the whole entire time they have a clipboard, stating how many dogs were in the litter and didn't even look at it and I wait 4 hrs for a c-section as well the following day before that I waited 4 1/2 hours for my other litter as well and I was the first one there it was an emergency. Obviously it wasn't an emergency for them when my dog was going to labor in my car. When I went inside to complain, they change my emergency to regular time, and when I asked for credit for their mistake again, didn't try to accommodate me Then they try to charge me for them feeding my dog when they forgot to put it in my box saying just because they fed my dog it's OK for them to forget my dog I had to drive back 4hrs just to pick up my missing dog 2hrs there and 2hrs back after I just got back from a 2 hr drive, they paperwork that never says anything how many were in the litter in the receipt or nothing like that but in their paperwork when I went inside, I seen they put it in the paperwork but they don't look at their paperwork when they're at work. read more

I've been coming to this place for a bit now & I can't believe how bad it's gotten. All the young kids working there have no kind of customer service. They all seem like they hate their job. They never smile and they straight ignore you. The gal answering the phone had no kind of personality. Also you can't go inside due to Covid I guess. I lost my sweet little Yoyo about two months ago. It's taken awhile before I could talk about him without crying. He was hit and died instantly, I didn't know what to do. So, I took him to my Vet clinic that treated him for stomach issues previously. I wish I could remember the ladies name that helped me, she was so wonderful! This was my first visit to APH for my German Shepherd pup Koda and I am very happy with the visit and staff. I drove over from the east bay and it was definitely worth it! First off, I have been to 2 other vets and the prices are significantly higher than APH so this place is a great option for quality service or simply a regular check-up for your furball. In terms of the experience, right when I walked in the staff was very warm and answered my questions while I waited to go in, which was maybe a 5-10 min wait. Just enough time to fill out the brief intake. We shortly saw Dr. Sandhu who I highly recommend. He took care of Koda's rash symptoms and vaccines. Koda didn't even react or flinch in reaction to the actual shots and she can be really loud so that is pretty impressive. I really appreciated his thoroughness even though she had a minor rash. He explained to me when I would need to worry and pulled out some pictures in a book and explained options. It was really informative! Professional, caring and excellent communication. First and foremost, I have to praise American Pet Hospital's doctors and staff. I have seen a lot of the doctors here including Dr. Sandhu, Dr. Jacobs, and Dr. Singh. All three have a thorough and professional manner about them that makes me feel my French Bulldog Akita is always in safe hands. In addition to their collective expertise, they were very compassionate and had an incredible understanding of my budget constraints. As a new patient with a yelp check-in I received a 50% discount on my first check-up. My frenchie suffered from a few breathing problems and hip dysplasia. Dr. Sandhu fixed all of this through surgical techniques and clean use of laser correction soft-palate treatment. For the hip dysplasia, I ended up choosing to correct the problem surgically due to the doctors experience. The procedure was a double pelvic osteotomy. Few months later Akita has healed up with quieter breathing and better sitting posture and stance. I had a solid experience at this vet practice and would recommend this place over a lot of other vet places I have been to in the past. They work with you, they understand you, and they help you.
