Delicious Wagyu meals, tasty elote corn, and great kimchi. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Wonderful experience in Waikiki. Make this place a stop for a tasty meal on your vacation. You will be very happy you stopped by. Aloha!

Stumbled across this absolute gem today. I literally took the wrong turn and noticed the Wagyu beef flyer posted to the fence so decided what the heck, it's lunch time let me just try it out. I knew I made the right decision when I walked up and was greeted by a nice Japanese man. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The beef literally melts in your mouth!! Comes on a bed of rice, corn, grilled onions and kimchi. I couldn't even wait to eat it (hence why no photos of the plates ‍) I will 100% be back again & I've already told multiple people about this truck becuase it's literally a hidden GEM. It's just unfortunate that the location is off the beaten path and you have to intentionally look for the truck. But I promise you, you won't regret stopping here!

This is the best curry rice we have every had. We visited in March 2024 and have been wanting to come back since. Remarkably, their food is even BETTER now! An absolute gem in Waikiki. We can't wait to come back again!!

Beef Curry-outstanding and enough to share (dinner for two)

Many thanks to Yelpers for leading us to the AWE! I enjoyed two dinners at AWE during my stay in Waikiki. The first time I split the Beef Lover with my husband. It was a hearty, delicious trio of beef curry, shaved beef with onions and sliced beef over rice with corn and a small amount of cabbage. The beef is so tender and perfectly seasoned. Just delicious! We went back two days later and shared a beef curry. The beef curry had sold out as an entree but we enjoyed the portion we had in our Beef Lover so we were happy that it wasn't sold out the 2nd time we went back. The curry actually came with some sliced beef too. It was so delicious! Definitely don't hesitate to stop by this hidden gem!

Dude behind the counters chill and respectful. The food was delicious and I'm going to try the rest of the menu next time.

I am visiting from Orange County and these food trucks were next to the Air Bnb. I could smell the goodness from the 4th floor. I went the first night and got the big Wagyu steak plate, it was so delicious! I went back the next night and brought my Dad, he got the Wagyu steak this time I got the Wagyu beef bowl. Once again, so tender and delicious. I don't normally eat Kimchi but I ate all of this! This food is some of the best I've eaten while visiting Hawaii. Everyone needs to stop by and give this Chef some support! Enjoy!

We more or less stumbled across this place after noticing several food trucks on the street outside of our hotel. Having heard of Wagyu beef hundreds of times but never actually trying it, I was immediately interested in the menu. There are multiple 'plate lunch' style offerings but we opted to go for the combination plate which has all 3 styles of meat. My favorite by far was the sliced steak. Not that the other two weren't good - they were all tasty. But that sliced steak was just so tender and flavorful. If I was eating there again I'd personally go for the full sized entree of just that variety. The sides in the meal are a little lacking (plain white rice, plain corn, and plain cabbage); but let's be honest, the real star here is the meat. Overall 8/10 - would come back again.

We encountered numerous food trucks stationed on Cartwright as we strolled back to our hotel in Waikiki each evening. Our interest was piqued by the American Wagyu food truck. Tonight, we resolved to experiment with it, and we are delighted that we did. Accepts credit cards, provides a reasonable portion of food, and provides prompt and courteous service. We selected the curry rice (regular size) and the mini wagyu plate. They offer three portion sizes for the menu items they serve. The cuisine was delectable, and I would certainly consider returning to the food truck. I am of the opinion that it was a reasonable price in comparison to the prices of cuisine in Waikiki. American wagyu is the subject of discussion in numerous comments that have been posted on this site. Japanese cows are referred to as "wagyu." Folks, there is no such thing as American Wagyu. Japanese is the meaning of the term "wa." Cow is the translation of the term "gyu." In order to be classified as Wagyu, the cow must be bred and reared in Japan. American Wagyu is a cute choice for a name for the business.

I was really looking forward to trying this place. I will say I was disappointed that the meat is broil instead of grill. The guy behind the truck is really unfriendly and doesn't really say much. I understand it's a food truck and doesn't expect much but a smile won't hurt you. I tried asking about the late and got a grunt instead. I'll prolly not be back k here when I come back to the island.

I almost forgot to take a picture, it smelled so good, tastes so good! Service was fairly quick. Got #4 wagyu beef lovers which gave us a flavor of everything. So good! Only thing I would add is an egg (I love eggs) but I was too lazy and I didn't check to see if it was an option. Seasoned perfectly! We'll eat there again! Btw, there were two of us, we shared, but could easily feed 3 or 4 for a snack.

Wagyu plate $18.50 with side of kimchi $1 (top left). Subbed in cabbage instead of rice to make it healthier.

Good price for Wagyu beef meals. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, yet open other days in the evenings until 8:30pm. I ordered the regular wagyu plate $18.50, which comes with rice, cabbage, and corn. Substituted the rice for extra cabbage (dressed lightly in a salty sesame oil dressing) and added a side order of kimchi (extra $1). Sprinkled my corn with Japanese red pepper togarashi flakes too. Wagyu beef seemed to have been cooked via sous vid, as you can see the even lines from medium to medium rare in each slice. Wish they could have charred the outside just a bit, but overall a good deal for all you get. You could easily miss this food truck alley/street if you stick to the beachside food venues. Will definitely come back the next time I visit the area.

We got there pretty early and it was less than 10 minutes before our waitress by the name of Jackie had taken our drink orders fairly simple she had been very accommodating ... In most of the orders we did have she had been very exceptional, and she also took the time out to consider certain detail details like my sparkling water for instance ... I finished off two whole glasses of sparkling water and she had went ahead and made a third as a takeout container for me... The Wagyu burger I ordered had been very good. It had a great texture throughout. I had asked for it to be medium well done and it was spot on whoever the chef was on June 15, 2026 at about 1 PM had made my burger exactly to the specifications I asked. Our table of eight had went ahead and shared a selection of three desserts. I personally felt the chocolate cake would've been a little bit heavy so I didn't have too much of that, but it had a very good taste. I did really enjoy the crème brûlée that pineapple crème brûlée had a very noticeable creamy delicious taste of freshness with the cream ... it might possibly be my favorite dessert at a restaurant and I may just come back to have just that... the piña colada cake was super moist and that was also very delicious... The ambience had been very good. There wasn't too much music being played, but it was quiet overall very noticeable on the crowd. There was not a very big crowd at all during our lunch reservation and perhaps that's why everything went smoothly. Jackie had been very good she had accommodated everyone --let everyone know when their orders were coming out if it was coming out late and she had been consistent with water and or drinks, especially with my sparkling water. I feel that this would be a great venue to go to the second floor is where the fire pit is and I feel that that would be a great place for a hang out to get drinks late at night and to hang with friends Again, thank you, Jackie, our waitress had been exceptional. Taste, presentation, service, ambiance -- MĀZE really had it all nailed down. If there's one meal you should book for your trip, make it MĀZE. Although the menu looks short, it is deceptively filling. You start off your meal with a few amuse bouche bites. It's really a wonderful start, because the salmon toast was one of the best bites I had all night. The smoked salmon was melt in your mouth tender and the toast was fried to perfection. Another bite I really enjoyed early on was their "Fat bastard" oyster. I've never had this type of oyster before, but this one was especially plump, sweet, and had just the right amount of brininess to it. There's honestly not a single straightforward bite across the courses: everything has layers upon layers of flavor and a complexity that really accentuates the talent of the head chef. After the first course, there's an option to add a supplemental course for $34 -- a "Wagyu musubi". I cannot emphasize enough that this addition is a must. If you're coming as a couple, it's large enough that you're able to share a single one so that each person gets two bites. This bite is as delicious as it looks. The Wagyu is rich and fatty, and the crispy nori is the textural element that breaks up the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the beef. The tare delicately brushed on top adds a bit of saltiness to the dish and doesn't take away from the enjoyment and appreciation of the Wagyu itself. Another bite that I'll forever remember is the Jeju abalone dish. Served over a bed of finely minced edamame and served in a chicken jus, the dish had sweet, savory, umami, and all the right textures. I ate this dish especially slowly because I wanted to savor each and every bite for as long as possible. The abalone is tender and cooked perfectly -- not rubbery whatsoever. I overheard a chef saying that the tasting menu changes every month, and we had visited when they were mid-cycle. I believe some of the permanent menu items include the bourbon barrel smoked salmon toast and the wagyu musubi, but I really hope to see the Jeju abalone dish again someday when I visit in the future. Since MĀZE is from the the duo behind the famous cocktail bar -- Bar Leather Apron, just down the street, you would expect nothing less than extraordinary cocktails for the cocktail pairing. I can confidently say that there was not a single drink pairing that I was disappointed with -- both on the alcoholic and non-alcoholic side. My favorite cocktail of the night was their take on an Old Fashioned that was served with the Washugyu flat iron galbi course. I simply cannot say enough good things about MĀZE. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation right after you book your plan tickets to Oahu -- you won't regret it.

So glad I went with the cocktail pairing bc I wanted the whole experience. It was really lovely and fun to sit at the counter watching all the young people assemble the food so carefully and our bartender craft our drinks. Each drink was perfect - either refreshing or light or sweet or smoky and really did complement each dish. My fave was the egg white gin one that came with the fish course. My fave foods were the charred lettuce that came with the meat course and the shave ice was superb - corn syrup and plenty of black sesame it was not too sweet and so refreshing! Overall a very special meal and a place to keep in the rotation for special occasions. I'd say definitely go with the cocktail pairings bc that is what makes this place unique. Also if you want to get some courses with a mocktail instead of getting all four as cocktails they will accommodate that - then you don't need to get as tipsy. I wanted to try all the cocktails so I just didn't end up finishing each drink - not bc they weren't delicious, they were! I just didn't want to go past pleasantly buzzed. We didn't get any add ons and were still full by the end of the meal. Clean bathrooms and bright space and awesome service. Not a single misstep.

There were wine specials and I took advantage of this offering, choosing a 2023 Beaune Boucherottes from Louis Jadot. Our server (Malama) brought a 2021, which was great from my perspective. This wine sells for $180 and was listed at $177; what a deal! We chose Bone Marrow ($32), Beets and Strawberry Salad ($28) as our starters. Entrees were the Butchers Cut, which offered Filet, Ribeye or NY Strip ($70). I chose the NY strip and ordered Foie Gras ($32) to accompany it. Our other entrée was the Huli Hainan Chicken Plate ($42). Malama told us the Foie Gras was a mousse, so I asked her to bring it out with the other two appetizers. The Bone Marrow plate came with two halves of bone and four pieces of toasted ciabatta. The Foie Gras dish was interesting ... Three piped dollops of foie gras mousse, with three quenelles of a pineapple mostarda and a plate of Madeleines. The Beets & Strawberry Salad was a visual and taste treat ... It was my favorite of the three starters. The foie gras atop the Madeleine was too sweet for our palates; it was much more successful on the toasted ciabatta that accompanied the bone marrow. The NY Strip came sliced, with another bone marrow and mashed potatoes. The Hainan Chicken came with ginger scallion rice, lomi tomato chile, dark soy (which was very watery), slices of cucumber and cilantro. The chicken was the least successful dish we've had here. I give the executive chef kudos to add variety to the menu. The steak came with a container of miso bordelaise ... I thought it was okay, my tablemate didn't like it. I tried the foie gras mousse on pieces of steak ... It was okay. We had the steak and chicken dishes boxed and perused the dessert menu. I don't usually eat dessert so the decision on what to order is left to my fellow foodie. She chose the Flourless Chocolate Cake ($16); I asked for a cup of coffee ($11). The cake was rich and dense, almost like fudge. We boxed that up ... My fellow foodie has enough food for next week. What did we think? The décor is pretty much the same as when it operated as La Vie, except for the addition of black tablecloths. There was a pianist playing near the bar ... That added a nice touch to the ambience of the place. Service was fine but not what we were looking for. We gave Solera a rating of 4 (perhaps a touch under).
