Met up with a friend for breakfast on a Saturday and I think we made it just before the weekend rush. So it was still calm, parking was street parking but it was easy enough. We got seated right away. It's a small space but it's homey. We ordered at the counter and then sat down. The menu is small but they have good options. I opted for the chilaquiles rojos with chicken tinga. We also ordered some coffees. Our food came out pretty quickly. Good portion size. The chilaquiles were pretty good but I do think they were made better with the chicken tinga. I do wish they were a little spicier, but that's just me. I would gladly order these again. Service was also great, there was always someone passing by checking in to make sure we didn't need anything. We even took an additional coffee to go. A great spot in our neighborhood! What a hidden gem! I came by on a weekday and it wasn't busy. I hear weekends can be packed, but you can make a res in advance! The ambiance is so relaxing and the restaurant is so well thought out and designed. All of the little elements from the decor, to the music, even the handmade mugs really lend to the authenticity of the business. The menu might be small, but trust, it's worth the visit! I had the avocado toast and it was absolutely delicious. The bread they use is incredible. Soft on the inside, with a nice crisp on the crust. Love the housemade hot sauce too! Great flavor and just the right amount of spice. I also ordered a cold brew and an iced almond milk latte with palo santo. That was so cool! It made my coffee a whole experience. I definitely look forward to coming back and trying the chilaquiles and tacos. The aguachile mocktail caught my attention too. I was hoping to find the next best neighborhood taqueria, instead I found something more. Like any hidden gem, Amor A Mi is not located where one would expect. It's not a trendy Magnolia Park eatery or in prime Downtown Burbank real estate...it's not even located in a strip mall like my other finds. Amor A Mi is located on the much quieter Burbank Boulevard, nestled next to a tiki bar, a nail salon, and a liquor store. With the trees in front and their sign blending in with the other businesses, you'd never know some of the best food in town is there. When you take your first steps in, it feels like you're transported to another place...far, far away from this commercial area of town. The earth tones, the tile work, and the wood tables are all perfectly lit with wicker bowl pendant lights and the natural light coming through the ceiling. There's vibrant plants and hints of green throughout that accent the walls, adorned with artifacts, artwork, and even some toys. It may look like any cafe you've been to, but it also feels like you've stepped into someone's home. That's also what makes the food so special here...at its core, yes, it's a Mexican cafe on the verge of fine dining, but it also feels like a home-cooked meal. Like a home cooked meal, there's not a lot of options, but that's a good thing...they definitely practice quality over quantity. My girlfriend and I came on a late Saturday morning in the mood for eggs and coffee. We ordered the chilaquiles with steak and their Mexican version of french toast I've seen all over social media. When the food came out, we knew before taking a bite that we'd love it. Visually the food was stunning. The french toast looked like a whole cake...covered in whipped cream and curd and fruit. The chilaquiles looked like something out of a photograph...the red sauce, the crema, sliced avocados, and a hint of pink from the perfectly cooked hanger steak. What made everything look even more stunning were the plates, carefully curated to match the dish. We were eating artwork on top of artwork. On first bite, I tried the steak and while it was good...it felt under-seasoned. I was slightly disappointed, but I wasn't going to be that guy and ask for salt at a restaurant. Then I took a bite of the well sauced chips and it became quickly clear that the steak just needed to taste like steak...the rest of the items would carry the flavors. Each bite was different...one was spicy, the other salty, another sweet, the next was tangy, sometimes it was all of the above. The avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy and the egg (ordered over easy) dripped yolk to make an even more delicious mess. It was a symphony of flavors and even though the notes were discordant at times, it still sounded delicious. The "Frenchicano toast" was just as yummy, but instead of just being a symphony of flavors, it was a symphony of textures. The crunch of the crust of the large slice of brioche. Then your knife easily slices through a completely soaked cloud of, something I had never heard of before, cebada curd. Apparently it's like horchata, but instead of rice, they use barley...which totally explains the very earthy flavors that tempers the sweetness. There's a passionfruit whipped cream on top that brings a tartness to everything. Instead of fresh fruit, they opt for freeze dried berries. At first we thought that was an odd choice, but when you bite through the moist brioche, the crunch of a freeze dried berry is such a satisfying contrast. Due to a weird timing error, we got our food first and our drinks much later in the meal. We had gotten a rose latte and what they called a Mexican matcha. It was one of the hottest days of the week, but we ordered them hot anyway. It was probably the wrong choice, but like the plates for the food, they were served in these wonderful, handmade mugs which made the experience that much more delightful. The rose latte was one of the better cups of coffee I've had. You could taste the floral notes, but it wasn't too strong...it was sweet, but you could taste the bitterness of the coffee which was perfectly roasted. I'm not the biggest matcha fan, but it tasted good. Mixed with spirulina, it gave some Star Wars milk vibes. The table next to us ordered theirs iced and it came in a tall highball glass so you could see all the streaks of milk throughout. Everything was delicious and we wished we could order more food, but we were stuffed. The waiter offered us some desert and that too had to wait until next time. Then he brought out the check...which came in a tiny tortilla press! They give you the option to pay the check on your phone, so we did and we left, transported back to cement and asphalt tones of Burbank Boulevard. Never coming here again. My son ordered a steak sandwich with no guacamole. When the server brought it out, it had guacamole on it. We pointed it out and they took it back. Less than five minutes later, the sandwich was brought out again -- and it was obvious they had simply wiped the guacamole off. There was still guacamole on the bread. My son has an avocado allergy, so this was extremely dangerous and completely unacceptable. We asked to speak with the owner, but he refused to come out, saying he was too busy in the kitchen. That level of carelessness and lack of accountability is very concerning. If you or your family have food allergies, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

I was looking for a nice brunch spot in the area and happened to stumble upon this place. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the steak sandwich. Unfortunately, I found a hair wrapped around my steak sandwich, which was really off-putting. Alongside that, there were a ton of flies flying around which I understand that it was a hot day and people were coming in and out of the restaurant but c'mon. They were flying amongst the food and our drinks. To their credit, the staff was kind and quickly offered to remake the dish, but the situation had already ruined the mood and my appetite. On top of that, the steak sandwich itself fell apart very easily, making it difficult to eat. If you zoom in the photo, you can very clearly see it. Service was also a bit frustrating. We had to flag down our server multiple times just to get napkins, and each time he only brought one when my hands were messy from the sandwich. At one point, he even brought the bill while we were still eating, which felt rushed. Overall, it wasn't a great experience, and I don't plan on returning. A fork but no knife in my roll-up so I couldn't break into the hard barbacoa or the crispy chips. The menu said this dish had beans somewhere. These alleged beans were no where to be found. The person who made my Iced Chai Latte mentioned what sweetener I wanted in my chai, I told him i was unaware and un knowledgeable about the place. I told him to take it upon himself to make a great Chai. He delivered by far the best Chai I have ever tried. It was so herby and milky and smooth. I am a real Chai drinker and it was just phenomenal. We ordered some barbacoa chilaquiles which were decent. I am gonna say that throughout the chilaquiles and taco gobernador, the flavor did have an overwhelming taste of smoked tomato and blandness. We went for Valentine's Day, for the first time, they had a wonderful Prix Fixe menu for the evening that showed off their creativity and flavor combinations. All the food was so colorful and excellent and actually spicy! They also just got their liquor license so expect more from them in that department. I love Horchata, but they had another version called Cebada, which is made with barley instead of rice, I immediately asked if they would make me a cold brew coffee with it (they have an excellent coffee station) and it tasted amazing, I hope they add it to the menu, it was like a nutty, mocha latte, just excellent. Ambiance was excellent, pretty hip for Burbank, which is great. And the service was really top notch, very polite staff, attentive, etc... Everything you could want. Amazing spot! I love the authenticity behind the menu -- you can tell these flavors are traditional with modern twists. The menu is small with staple dishes such as chilaquiles, breakfast sandwich, avocado toast etc. we decided to try the rojo (w/ lamb barbacoa) and verde chilaquiles (with streak) and they did not disappoint! Keep in mind it is extra for protein and an extra egg. The flavor of both dishes were excellent and a generous portion. My ONLY critique is I wish the food came out a bit hotter. It's definitely a big enough portion to share. We also tried the ceviche de camaron and it was super tasty! Very fresh, bright and light! For drinks we tried the mole mocha (hot) and cajeta latte (iced). The mocha came out a bit lukewarm warm vs hot, but had excellent flavor! The cajeta tasted amazing and was on the sweeter side but didn't drown out the espresso flavor. I was super excited to try this place for my birthday since the menu had a variety of fusion options that I haven't seen anywhere else. I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce, they had a nice kick to them and were very good! Everything tasted fresh and their menu had a little something for everyone. They also have a variety of coffee options, their palo Santo latte is their most popular. Overall enjoyed my visit to Amor A Mi, arrived on a late Friday afternoon there were a couple other parties dining and then eventually it was myself and a friend. Service started good, but then was non existent, even considering we were the only ones in there at one point. Inside is beautifully decorated with a modern Mexican concept that was fresh and relaxing. We began with chips and guacamole that were remarkably flavorful & fresh. The aguachiles had a nice flavor, spice and was light. The 3 different tacos we ordered were all great. The taco that stood out was the shrimp gobernador. They are pending a liquor license, so there were no alcoholic drinks available, but they did have a wide variety of mocktails. I love their choice of plates and mugs.You order at the front and they bring your order to you. They have a good selection of coffee and teas. You can jazz any of them up with one of their house made syrups. I went with de la olla syrup which gave my latte that nostalgic early morning cinnamon sweet taste. For food I went with the Avocado Toast ($17): Toasted sourdough, loads of sliced avocado, garlic aioli and chimichurri, queso fresco, pickled onion, tomatoes, cilantro, and gooseberries. This was a delicious hearty toast with all kinds of flavor profiles going on. I really enjoyed the dried gooseberries which gave it a touch of sweetness. Pretty disappointed in our visit today. Stopped in around 2:30 for a friend's birthday lunch and only one other table was sat. They didn't have an aguas fresca of the day as listed on the menu so went with jamaica. Nothing special and smaller portion. I got the octopus taco which was the highlight of the meal. The side of refried beans however came out cold and crusty. We got a French toast for the table and it was burnt on the bottom. After our food was dropped off we never saw the server again to say anything and had to go to the bar to ask for the check. Prices on the menu don't reflect accurate pricing (side of refried beans is $3 on the menu but charged $4). Overall it was a mediocre experience with poorly cooked food and bad service so won't be back. read more

What a cute Mexican breakfast & brunch spot. The unique vanilla latte came with a lit Palo Santo. Super cute and very instagramable. I also got the chilaquiles rojos with hangar steak. It's a shareable size. Towards the end of the meal, I discovered a delicious smear of beans on the bottom of the chilaquiles. Do not miss out on these beans. I would definitely come back and try other options on the menu to support this small, local businesses. As I was leaving, I saw every person at every table ordered the chilaquiles. Soft opening weekend, please keep that in mind when you stop by! We came in as a group of 6 and waited about 20/25 minutes for a table to clear out. As of now they are a sit wherever you'd like place and they don't have ample seating for larger parties. It happened to us as we waited for a table to get cleaned a party of 3 just walked in and took our table. 2. Taking orders at the table if you are dining in. I ordered at the front and it was quick. However as we were eating the line started to form and people were waiting in line to order for a long time. 3. Trying to take out everyone's food (in a group) at the same time. We ordered 5 plates (3 were the same) and they all came out like 10 minutes from each other. Again they just opened and they were very nice. Our waiter was lovely and animated. He tried his best to fix our order when they got an item wrong. The food was good, we had 3 plates of chilaquiles verdes, one breakfast burrito and one breakfast sandwich. They unfortunately didn't have red sauce, but the green was packed with a nice amount of heat. Really wished the chilaquiles had some pickled onion on them. The breakfast sandwich and burrito were both loaded with egg, avocado and bacon. I liked that they used thick cut bacon as it enhances the flavor. Their lattes were okay, a little disappointed in how thin the latte glasses are. I had the mazapan latte and it was a little on the sweet side. My sister had an iced latte with palo santo syrup (their version of vanilla) and she enjoyed it. I do hope to come back once their official menu comes out. This isn't a traditional Mexican spot, and it's part of what made it so good for me (I have traditional Mexican food daily). It's a small, trendy restauramt and coffee shop with a contemporary twist. My first visit I had the French Toast and it was absolutely awesome. I didn't take photos but you can see it on the restaurant's website. This last time, I tried the chilaquiles and they were easily some of the best I've ever had--again, not traditional, but elevated in a great way.
