Half of the cake had taro filling, other half filled with strawberries. 5/5!!!
    Monica H.

This place is bomb!!!! Not sure how it's rated so low. I called to ask what cakes they have that are ready to pick up that day. They said strawberry, chocolate, mango, tiramisu. We wanted the cake with half strawberry and half taro filling though and they said they can custom make it WITHIN 2 HOURS!!! I called at 9am and the cake was ready for pick up at 11:45am! The cake was amazing. Not too heavy, perfect sweetness and fluff. The decoration was simple yet nice (blue flowers). It was a pretty big 8" cake for $32. Customer service and taste both were amazing. I highly recommend this bakery for cakes!

Cake turned out very cute. I added my own birthday banner.

I just love these Asian bakeries especially amor bakery!!! I needed to pick up our cake from amor bakery but had to park curbside because my child was napping in the car. I pulled up on the sidewalk in front of the bakery and asked if they would mind bringing the cake to my car. This Asian lady brings the cake out without any questions. Knocked on my window to unlock my car door and proceeded to move everything off my passenger floor to find a perfect space for the cake! She didn't say anything about if she could make space or anything. I didn't even pay for the cake yet. She is efficient and so helpful. Such great service here. I was communicating with Tommy for a custom cake. I told him I might need to postpone the party. He was very understanding and easygoing. The cake turned out beautiful. We were very satisfied with the design. We will be back again.

The strawberry cake was frozen. I tried to stab the strawberry filling with a plastic fork and it won't budge. Had to throw the rest of the slice away. I also ordered a roll of coffee cake and a custard bun that I will now set my expectation very low so I wont be further disappointed.

Mold on every piece of cake
    Nikster X.

**BEWARE AND DO NOT COME HERE** There should be a zero or a flag option on Yelp for businesses like this. We bought several pieces of chocolate and tiramisu cake on Saturday and when we went to eat it, they all had mold on it. My daughter ate a piece and got sick. She's too young to know what mold looks like and we didn't think to check for mold. EVERY single piece had mold on it. We went back to the store the next morning (Sunday) to confront them. The lady behind the counter with the glasses (black frames) reacted by smiling, thinking this is not a big deal. She even ate the piece we returned. Yes, she took a pinch and ATE the mold fill cake. She nodded and agreed that it was bad. We were so shocked by what we just witness. I told her this cake must have been here for a week because the mold was so bad and all over. She proceeded to tell us that the cakes were just changed this morning (Sunday) so they are fresh now." She said, "We change them today for the week." This means that the cake we bought sat for a week. She agreed with that and there's nothing wrong. Like it's their normal. Why am I surprised when she ate the molded cake that we brought back? I asked her if she would feed this to her mom or child- and that the mold can cause people to get sick and even go to the hospital. She didn't seem to care, started to ignore us, and walked to the back bakery area to avoid our questions. This is not right and a bakery like this shouldn't be open. The health department, inspectors, etc. really need to look at this bakery. I then read previous reviewers on Yelp about mold filled pastries from here and it's the truth!!! Please take a look at my pics. For your health, please don't buy cakes from here!!!

Strawberry and taro filling birthday cake for my mother

Go to birthday cake place for my parents and family. We usually order a split birthday cake with half strawberry and half taro. Not too sweet for my parents and the portions of taro filled is great. For cake orders, make sure to call ahead to reserve your cake. Store has baked goods, breads and other pastries as well. Small family business feel so please be patient and understanding.

Much needed update review here ! I stopped by today to get a cake because I was craving cake. Yeah you know cravings and who doesn't love cake ?! The cake I got today was delicious ! This place never disappoints me :) Lady working was nice . The cake was fresh. I will continue to be a loyal costumer . My go place to order cakes :) May the 4th be with you

Molded egg tart, the molded parts were covered by the paper cup so you won't be able to see..

Molded! Bought 5 egg tarts All molded!!! What's even worse is that the top custards are fine just the bottom crusts are molded, which means they probably use the dead-stock / old material only for the part that customers are less likely to notice, just to save a couple of cents. It seems like a pattern rather than a one-time accident to me. Especially when I saw reviews from years ago mentioned intense chemical taste. That's exactly how it tasted to me.

Happy 30th birthday Beverly! Beautiful and delicious mango cake, large feeds 10-12 people (definitely feeds more!) for $30!
    Tiffany N.

This very spot was where I got to experience my first all mango cake! You've gotta try it! It's delicious, moist and the mangos are soo fresh! I'm not sure when they're in season but you can call and ask the friendly workers. We'd have this cake maybe 3 times a year for birthdays at the office and it's delicious every single time. A regular size is around ~$25. I cannot get enough of it, of course you know I always have to eat more than one slice :)

I've been to quite a few bakeries in the SGV. This one is does not compare to some of the others in the area. Their variety of pastries and cakes is quite small. The quality of the food is sub-par. The taste of the pastries were bland and did not stand out to me. The service is mediocre. I may return for convenience, but not out of enthusiasm. Overall, it's all just "meh".

Thanks Amor Bakery for making a delicious and beautiful wedding cake for us . Our guests and families keep asking and telling how delicious the cake is . I was astonished with the design . I didn't have any particular picture about the cake decoration. I just described how I want it to be . Thanks Julie and the rest of the team for making a gorgeous wedding cake . I'd recommend it to everyone for a big day . Tip: Compare to the bakery around the area : affordable price , free delivery ( please don't forget to tip the cake delivery gentlemen), great customer service .

Awful. Dried. Crumbled. Impossible to eat.

Review for moon cakes : AWFUL!!! I'm so so so disappointed. The moon cakes were literally hard as a rock. And I paid $5 per piece too. Yay, $21 total down the garbage. Dried crusty egg yolk and coconut stuck in my throat. No moisture at all. Never ever ever again. I'm sorry Amore bakery. Your other baked goods are tasty but please make the moon cakes fresh .. ugh.

The top is crispy while the rest of the bun is soft. Sesame bun was soft and filled with good amount of sesame inside. Egg tart was also good. The cashiers here are also super sweet - the black sesame bread sells out fast, so I usually call in ahead of time to ask if they have any and they'll set aside a few for me until I arrive, which I really appreciate :) Little things like that go a long way. It's also filled with a light, soft cream. DELICIOUS! I arrived at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) on a Wednesday (around 3:42PM). Parking is simple. There's a competitive customer parking lot. And there's a city public parking lot about a two minute walk away. Staff is very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Staff maintained a bright smile throughout my visit. Staff immediately helped me. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or counter; however, the kiosk felt very dated & the prices on the kiosk felt less transparent. I recommend just ordering at the counter. There's no penalty for using card at this donut establishment. As mentioned, I love the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95). It's not too sweet; rather, it all felt balanced. However, this is a VERY messy donut; I recommend eating this donut with a fork and knife. The powder fall everywhere, and your clothes can quickly get stained with chocolate powder. Still, it's a delicious pastry. On ambiance, Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) is comfortable. This business is more reminiscent of a cafe than a typical donut shop. There's customer internet with password; details on the counter. There's a gender neutral restroom. And there's an electrical outlet & outlet adaptor for devices. The location is fairly small; there's one interior table and one small counter. Fortunately, this place felt airy and well-ventilated. There's also some upbeat, fun music in this clean spot. Overall, I found unexpected joy at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel). There's sincere passion & hard work within these walls. If searching for a special donut for a special someone, this is an easy spot to recommend. 4.9 out of 5! Go!

There's a small parking lot in the back, but spaces can be hard to find and I ended up having to park on the street the first time I went. (FYI - they are going to open a Goomo tea shop on the corner in the same space!) D'ange has so many fun flavors of buns. I really liked the taro with mochi one. The only thing about the buns is that the fillings tend to be only on one side of the bun, so there are been times as I'm biting into the bun, I'm not getting any filling until the last couple bites. They even sell cookies and all different flavors of toast that would make some yummy brick toast desserts! And if you need a whole cake, they have them in the case ready to go too! The buns I got were great, as were the Portuguese egg tarts. They even sold Chinese tamales at my last visit, so I picked one up too. Their cakes are the classic Chinese bakery style, light sponge cake layered with fruit and whipped cream. They make custom cakes in all different sizes and I think the pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get. Best of all, the cakes are fresh and not overly sweet, which is exactly how I like them. This time I ordered a quarter sheet chocolate cake with chocolate cream. It was really good, rich enough to taste like chocolate but not so sweet that it became overwhelming. Everyone at the party seemed to enjoy it. They also open at 8am which makes pickup convenient if you need a cake for an early event. One little bonus: if you pay cash, there's usually a small discount. Let's just say Uncle Sam might not be getting invited to that party.
