I spent 6 years growing up in Cedarburg and it's always sad to come back and see all of the places that have shut down since I moved. But it always makes me happy that Amy's is still there and amazing as ever. Caramel apples are a must there, absolutely delicious. They also have other delicious chocolatey treats. Rating on service alone. Visited Cedarburg for Thanksgiving and stopped in Amy's while browsing the shops on Black Friday. In high hopes to make a purchase for an afternoon sweet treat. Everything looked most enticing, but hardly anything had descriptions in the candy counter. I understand it's a truffle, but what kind? There are so many to choose from. When I asked the lady behind the counter for flavor descriptions, she was snarky in her answer and not very helpful. This place is great...and it certainly is not your average store bought chocolate and candy. You will pay a little more, but it is REALLY GOOD chocolate! You can get many of their caramel apples for $10.00 or less, and each comes in its own box. While the youngsters will go nuts (no pun intended) over the ones bedazzled with nuts, chips and colored candy and jimmies, there are plenty of regular dipped ones to make a trip here worth your while. Droooolllll.... I'm so glad I don't live in cedarburg or I would put on 20lbs always stopping in for chocolate covered strawberries and apples! So good! The chocolate covered caramel apples are the best. They have a lot of fun flavors like Oreo, Twix, toffee, apple pie, and just Belgium chocolate! There is a perfect balance of apple, chocolate and caramel! They don't always have chocolate covered strawberries but they are my favorite. I always stop by during strawberry fest and get 4 of them! The chocolate they use is just so good! The shop is also full of chocolate covered pretzels, espresso beans, pomegranate seeds, and toffee and bark. In the store, you can watch how the confections are made. The smells are free. They are very pricey, and it can feel daunting to pay so much for an Apple. I will never understand why clients and colleagues continue to send me popcorn, truffles - and now caramel apples. Scotch, cigars, cognac, tickets to the symphony..bring it. But it's a well-known fact I'm not a general fan of sweets. Methinks they're sending a subtle message and trying to fatten me up. Anyhow, several of these arrived today and the office went wild. They are simply enormous and the varieties - staggering. Dark chocolate turtle with pecans, macadamia coconut turtle, Belgian chocolate, caramel and crushed Oreos, double dunked chocolate, and caramel covered in M&Ms were just some of the types which arrived in a quantity which quickly caused grown men in our office to squeal like 12 year old boys. Smartly packaged in copper-ish colour boxes and well-preserved in tissue, these divine treats are to be enjoyed and shared. I was terrified of eating one of these alone. Instead, I accepted a sliver here and there from employees who gleefully dug in. Yumm-ariffic. Mine Just Arrived Today!!!! Since I don't have the opportunity to be in Cedarburg and probably won't ever go there, I'm just going to have to review Amy's based on my multiple experiences with their website and fabulous shipped caramel apples. I'm not kidding when I say that Caramel Apples are one of my ultimate passions, and these caramel apples are THE BEST! AND, it's pretty amazing that they receive such an accolade even when they're shipped to you! The only apple that comes close to Amy's was one I had in Disneyland a few years ago, but it was during a really restrictive phase in my diet, which may contribute to why it tasted like it was sent down from heaven and lovingly dipped in caramel by Jesus himself. I highly recommend the milk chocolate dipped and the almond. It may just change your life and most certainly will change your day. They make special ones for weddings and while mine is neither planned nor coming up any time soon, I've got my eye on Amy's... now I just have to get engaged. read more

Thank you to Amy's Candy Kitchen for righting a wrong! After reading my review, I was contacted by John at their company, and he explained everything (about the picture taking at least!). He had said that they have had people try and steal their product (process and recipe) and that's why they don't want people to take pictures (hence why I got yelled at for doing just that). That being said, he mentioned that there was a sign on the front counter. When you are THAT busy that there is a line and the front counters are blocked by people, the sign is impossible to see. I guess he said they took down the sign, however. And reading further reviews, I see I wasn't the only one who was scolded for taking pictures... But he was extremely apologetic and definitely made it right with my family (see pictures). It's great that they listen to their customers and offer solutions. You will never ever ever have an apple like an Amy's apple. These things are like crack! I'm sure if Amy's Apples were in business when the coined phrase was said "An apple a day keeps the doctor away", the doctor wouldn't have been saying it for too long! First off, these apples are as big as a baseball. Secondly, you can get them covered in homemade caramel or dipped in chocolate. Third, you can customise the heck out of it. What's your flavour? What toppings do you like? You are not left short of choices. You can get nut covered apples (almonds, peanut, cashew, butter pecan, mixed nut, pistacio, turtle) or how about a candy apple covered in your choice of Heath, sprinkle, M&M, Reeses or Candy apple. If those don't float your boat, what about a dunked apple? What is a dunked apple you say, well it's just dunked in the best things such as white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, dunked with sea salt, dunked with white garnish or dunked with dark garnish. Have you had enough, enough choices? If not, you can pick up some other homemade candies and chocolates. These make great gifts and they taylor to all occasions. You people in Cedarburg don't know how good you have it. Shame on you for not sharing your dam confectionary shop with the rest of the world-oh wait that's right, YOU'RE SELFISH. So, let me first point out that yes, I will drive 3 hours for the perfect caramel, turtle, M&M candied apple. And yes, it is worth it. Every $10 bill I spend on one. Why? Have you had one? Have you? I thought so. This place is quite difficult to find from the highway. Get off the exit, go 10 miles in dead country backwoods, right at some nondescript gas station, past the "Piggly-Wiggly" (I'm going to pause for a second to point out there's a place called "Piggly-Wiggly" and it sells creme fraiche. Okay, I'm going to take back the redneck comments I was about to insert.) Moving on...this lovely homey store is located in what is lovingly referred to as downtown Cedarburg. I drove past "downtown" Cedarburg and kept going for miles till I hit grass. Backtracking and cursing to myself, I kept more vigil about reaching my goal for this fabled caramel apple house 2 ladies told me about as they fed me fudge and watched me giggle like a school girl. Yeah, I giggled. Hardcore. The shop itself is about the size of a large living room with the feel of a county store looking at it from the front. They proudly display their one and only candied apples-about 12 different varieties all varying from about 3-6 lbs. of candy goodness. They also feature classic confectionaries including spun caramel sugar covered in chocolate (a Lake Geneva favorite.) The lady of the shop employs high school girls who are trained in the time honored tradition of spinning and dipping hot syrups and sauces-how I wish I was a 16 year-old in Cedarburg. The wrapping itself is very convenient and well thought as well-a tiny hole at the top will secure each apple in place and each apple gets it's own caramel colored and ribbed box. How's that for a hostess gift? The staff was so helpful and passionate about their craft, I couldn't resist and bought 5. And ate 3. And yes, it was worth the 1/2 hour it took for me to cut and demolish just one. While it's been months since I've been to the fabled fabulous Amy's, it doesn't stop me from having them shipped to my home. This is one of those places where, no matter what you get, you're going to love it. You can't go wrong. C'mon, I means it's a chocolate shop! I stopped in here to pick up a gift for someone else, and ended up "gifting" myself a nice little selection of chocolate goodies. They have a big variety of chocolates, prepackaged gifts and caramel apples. When you purchase their candies, they wrap them and give them to you in a nice bag or box. It's a great way to present a yummy gift. I tried their milk chocolate toffee and milk chocolate covered s'more. I loved their fudge as well. Everything I tasted was truly yummy. I literally dream of Amy's caramel apples. They are truly the most delicious caramel apple I have ever encountered. Each Apple starts with a giant delicious better Granny Smith that is repeatedly dipped in Carmel and then covered in adding topping imaginable. My personal favorite is the dark talk chocolate turtle. The dark talk chocolate turtle is caramel apple covered with pecans and dark chocolate it is so decadent. They have all different other flavors such as M&M, Butterfinger, gummy, cranberry, and basically any variety of not. In addition to their amazing caramel apples they have a whole selection of handmade chocolates that are so rich and decadent. Please make an excellent gift for birthdays and holidays. I love caramel apples because you have this healthy miracle of nature covered with some really unhealthy addictive crap. But sometimes eating an apple seems like a chore, but a caramel apple... the anticipation! But by the time you get through all that goo, it loses its appeal, and the apple itself never tasted so good. So it's a journey. And you know how hard it is to find a good apple these days, so I was happy that these were big and juicy and with flavor. But $6 for a caramel apple just strikes me as a little steep, especially in these harsh economic times. And that's the cheap thing here at Amy's - there are much more expensive, and of course fabulous options - certainly described in perfect detail in other reviews here, all, without fail, employing the adjective "decadent." What freaked me out was the elaborate packaging... my modest caramel apple came on a robust stick branded with Amy's logo - and was placed in a custom metallic copper finish cardboard box with raised letters, specially designed so the stick protruded through a hole in the top. And the box was then put in a custom Amy's bag, handles reinforced even. I once splurged for a $300 dollar bottle of Chanel and the packaging was much the same. For a moment there I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat the caramel apple but instead would be compelled to propose marriage to somebody with it! But I ate it, and it was delicious. Though now I'm trying to figure out some use for the box and the stick. My humble request of Amy is that she find it in her heart to maybe dip some half-price caramel apples, even with smaller apples, and then let them go with less packaging, maybe through a modest window in the back of the store, for bums like me. read more

I took half a dozen apples on the plane ride back home for my co-workers. Yummo! If you have a sweet tooth, this place is amazing! They tease you before you even walk in the door. The store front is windows, showing off shelves of gourmet caramel apples. You walk by, see the goodies in the windows, and you're enticed to go in the store, telling yourself you're just gonna take a look around, no need to buy anything. The caramel apples are definitely what made me walk into the store. They have plain caramel apples, but when you see all of the varieties of specialty topped apples, you'll likely choose a fancier one. They have caramel apples topped with nuts, like peanuts, cashews and pecans. They've got some topped with candy bar toppings, like snickers, twix, m&m's, reese's pieces and reese's peanut butter cups. They've even got some topped with chocolate: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, plus additional unique goodies. They average about $10, and they definitely taste as good as they look. I chose one called Apple Pie. It was a green apple topped with caramel, then covered in white chocolate and sprinkled with some kind of cinnamony, sugary topping. It was delicious!! Besides caramel apples, they have cases of truffles, chocolate clusters, chocolate barks,... basically all the chocolate treats you could want. They also have shelves of pre-packaged goodies to grab and go. You could easily drop some serious cash in this place, since gourmet sweets aren't cheap. I actually managed to use some restraint. I'll drive out of my way to have a bite of one of their gourmet apples. I've resisted temptation throughout my childhood and adult life...until today. I finally caved and purchased a treat. I've had other apples made in the area but a co-worker told me I still need to give Amy's a chance. I approached cautiously; the blinds were down so the warm, spring sunshine would not melt their masterpieces. The door opened and a wall of choco-caramel-toffee air hit me. I could not say no this time. As much as I love nuts (especially pecans) they do not love me back. I broke up with them a while back. I selected a sweet and spicy combo (nut-free): The Mayan. The apple was covered in a thin layer of caramel and then dipped in rich, Belgian chocolate. It was then dusted with cinnamon and cayenne pepper and topped with more caramel. The apples come with a sturdy stick and in a beautiful brown and gold box. They are as tasty as they are pretty to look at. The caramel was rich and buttery and the chocolate was smooth and decadent. I was an instant fan. I also liked the balance between the sweet and heat on the apple I chose...although I would have killed for a bite of turtle if it wouldn't have killed me. (OK, I'm exaggerating but I really wanted a bite.) They had plenty of other treats too: toffee pretzels, chocolate covered orange peels, truffles...they also had a great Easter selection for those who celebrate. I urge you to take a walk down the streets of downtown Cedarburg and indulge in a confection or two from Amy's. My husband and I stopped in there after dinner in Cedarburg. I purchased a half a pound of toffee at 3350 a pound, and one apple. The Toffie was disgusting it's stuck to her teeth, not crunchy as you would expect toffee to be. And the apple with Amelia inside. I called the company and after several conversations with them they could not find my order. We gave them The date, the approximate time we were there and amazingly they could not find our order. Not through cash purchases North through debit card purchases. They told me there is no way the Apple could've been Meleon side but it was, and that that's the way they make their toffee. That is untrue as I have had both are apples and their toffee before. So after an approximate $30 purchase they refuse to give me my money back. Unless you like toffee that absolutely sticks to your teeth and Miele afterwards, I would not suggest purchasing from them anymore read more

Not sure if I just got a bad apple, because I have purchased caramel apples from here so many times prior to today and have never had a bad one. Got the usual pecan dark chocolate caramel apple. I was so excited to eat the apple. Cut into it and something seemed off, but still took a bite. The caramel section was all crystallized and was not caramel, but sugar that hadn't been cooked long enough to become caramel. I lived in Cedarburg, Wisconsin in the late 1990's and drove back for a visit when I was in Milwaukee today. Two places I wanted to visit were Amy's and The ice cream place next door as I regularly visited both in the past. I brought my camera to try to get some Christmas lights photos of the quaint little town. I had the camera around my neck when I walked into Amy's and as I was ordering the candy pieces one of the employees verbally berated me and said very loudly, NO PHOTOS IN THE STORE!!!" First, I was not taking a photo nor did I intend to. Second if I wanted to, as a paying customer they couldn't stop me or I could take photos from the sidewalk. It is interesting that I can take a photo of a Claude Monet painting at a museum but their candy is such an alleged work of art that I can't. Buyer beware! I order online a lot, probably too much and can honestly say this is THE WORST experience I've ever had. I placed an order online January 24th for a Valentine's gift for my fiance. I purposely selected that the ship date be February 13th (a Friday) because Saturday delivery charges were too expensive. I opted for 2 day shipping at $14.99 which was still quite steep. Never the less, I was willing to pay that because I thought this was a novel fun gift to give. On January 26th I see an email that says my order has shipped!!! I was panicked, this was supposed to be a Valentines Day gift! I even filled out a free gift enclosure that read "Happy Valentines Day! ." What the heck!! Why would I want this delivered three weeks early??? I called and left a message on their voicemail, I also sent two emails. 1 to customer service and 1 to their order department expressing there was a problem. I called again the following day and spoke with Mary. I work retail and have dealt with customers for over 20 years. This women was BEYOND RUDE. I expressed to her the problem and her response was robotic and callous. According to Mary they had sent me a confirmation email when I placed the order which showed a ship date for the 26th. I obviously never saw this email and was NOT aware there was even a problem. I was only made aware when I received an email that said my ORDER HAD SHIPPED. I then called and emailed ASAP. She could have cared less. Her attitude was you received confirmation, the order has shipped too bad. I know there was a mix up with the delivery date. I specifically selected the Friday the day before Valentines day like I stated earlier. I asked if she could cancel the shipment and re-send at the date I requested. She said no, I could have the shipment redirected to my home instead. That wasn't an option because it's perishable and wouldn't keep until Valentines Day. I asked her why if she could redirect the shipment to my home why couldn't she redirect it back to their company? She said "we don't accept returns." Bottom line she was so ridged and unwilling to help resolve this in any fashion. I am beyond upset, I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company/person in my life. Wasn't the gift enclosure a red flag for them? Honestly, I don't think anyone would send a Valentines day gift 3 weeks early! Bottom line, they spoiled my gift and could have cared less. It really saddens me that merchants fail to realize they are ONLY as successful as the customer makes them. If they continue to treat their customers how I was treated they'll eventually be out of business. Be careful, they're really not a kind or ethical company. read more
