On my way to a meeting in the area around lunchtime and randomly stumbled upon this sandwich place. I almost didn't go because of the sketchy location and no real company name. Well, I'm sure glad I decided to check it out. The turkey sandwich I ordered was amazing. The bread they used appeared to be freshly baked homemade. Yum! It was so good. I am deeply saddened that my 88 year old mother who purchases donuts for her church was asked to go somewhere else because she talks to much and takes away from there customers. My mother calls in her order and they never seem to have it ready or right! I have been a customer for many years, tip good and take a couple of dozens donuts to my place of business numerous times a week. We are regular customers, however, instead of my husband making the usual donut run, I decide to go with my daughter. We order FOUR donuts (two regular, one crueller, and a bear claw) and were charged $9.40. I didn't question it at the time but when I got home, my husband told me he pays less for a dozen. This doughnut shop is not our usual place, but stopped by in the morning on our way for a weekend drive. Husband had a plain croissant, daughter had a chocolate eclair and I had the cinnamon crumb. Daughter said her eclair was very good. I liked that the top was cut open the length of the doughnut, exposing the custard, because you know you're not getting gypped as some places don't fill it entirely. Husband's croissant was fresh and very tasty. The topping on my cinnamon crumb tasted fine, but the doughnut did not taste fresh. It seemed like it was a day old. Thus the reason for the 3 stars. I would have eaten hubby's croissant over my stale doughnut and plain croissants is not on my top 10 list for doughnuts because...well, it's plain. This place gets kudos for being open early on the weekend. I came in at 6:15am on a Saturday morning to bring donuts for work (a little sugar to brighten up people's day). There were to my surprise a lot of people coming in grabbing coffee and donuts. I guess I'm not the only one who has work on Saturdays. I asked for 3 dozen donuts and I just had her fill the box with a variety of donuts. She was able to pack one huge box with all 3 dozen. The only downside is I wish they had more variety of donuts. Meh. No bagels or bagel sandwiches. Donuts aren't impressive. My maple buttermilk tasted slightly like bbq briquettes.

Their donuts are good but the people behind the counter are rude. I've been here 3 times and all 3 times I had bad customer service. Snatching my debit card when paying, not even looking at me, saying "what do you want" in a demanding tone. I really tried to like this place but it's not for me. Christmas eve and wanted some donuts, yelped up a place and found this place. Located on whipple, on a little strip plaza. Ordered some donut holes and chocolate donuts with sprinkles for the kids and got me a salami sandwich on a dutch crunch... it was almost perfect, good amount of salami, and the bread was yum... only gripe i had was i ordered without onions, no mustard and added on peppercinis... and sadly she only omitted the onions... mustard was still there and no peppercinis!!! This is my new favorite local go to donut/sandwich place. The location isn't ever packed, business is well maintained and their staff is extremely nice. They have a huge variety of donuts, and the sandwiches are made fresh, with fresh veggies! Can't forget, they also have a bunch of refrigerated drinks to choose from. This place has a solid buttermilk bar! Great texture and flavor. Still fresh in the evening when we stopped in. The apple fritter on the other hand lacked apples. My mom owns the place, but I'm hardly there. Honestly it's pretty decent. Good price for the food :) (Though, I don't have to pay :P) In all the years of my family owning this place, I still have no idea who Amy is. Until I meet her or seen a picture of her, she will just be a figment of my imagination. We have a wide verity of donuts (the usual kinds) although I've always wanted try to mix things up a bit. like..strawberry donut..or velvet cake donut. Haha but woe is me. Sticking to the stable ones is safe. The sandwiches are basically cold cut deli style. I'm a fan of the soft roll or and anything on a croissant. :) They have salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, and soup of the day. The wife and I have been passing by Amy's for years. She always wanted to stop here for Breakfast because they advertise Donuts and Sandwiches. So this past weekend we decided to stop by and get breakfast here. Amy's is like every other independent donut house out there. Not much to look and just a large display case of donuts. We were hoping to get a breakfast sandwich here thinking that they might offer a breakfast sandwich... wrong, only donuts and the only sandwiches they offer here are for lunch time (you would almost think having an egg croissant sandwich would be natural here). So we kind of stalled at the start and looked over their selection of donuts. I have to say, I was impressed, the donuts here are pretty big. Prices here are reasonable and they have a pretty good selection of donuts. I didn't know what to get, so I ended up getting the one in front of me which was an extra large cinnamon twist like donut. The wife got a regular donut with cinnamon bits on it. We ended up paying like $2 and off we went. The donuts were decent. Nothing special but not too bad either. Mine was light and fluffy and had good taste, the wife's was your more traditional type of donut and was like a cake. Both were definitely fresh and there is value here. Overall, I would say 3 stars. I guess I'm still a bit disappointed they didn't offer a breakfast sandwich, but if i'm in the area driving to work, I would stop by and get a donut again. read more

I came here because they sell the kind of donuts I prefer - bready on the bottom and glazed on top. During my work I have to drive all over from San Lorenzo-Castro Valley-Hayweird during the day. I rarely get all the way down to Whipple road during my travels, however. Recently I was conducting business on Whipple and asked for their suggestion for lunch. Without hesitation the person recommended Amy's Donuts. So.....I sauntered down there to see what was up over there. It's in the same strip mall as '00 Jim Otttos Liquors', a famous Raider fan landmark since the '70s for obvious reasons. Not too hard to find. I must say that Amy's Donut shop serves up the BEST sandwiches that I have had from the entire area that I travel. I am not kidding. I am over 60 years old, and have had my fair share of deli-style sandos in my time. Amy's a traditional deli style sandwich shop. The women there are respectful and grateful for your patronage. Their shop is small, and not the most modern. You will overlook all of that once you take a bite into their masterpieces. The sandos are as good as anywhere within 30 miles up to Castro Valley/San Lorenzo down to Amy's. Why? QUALITY!! The sandwiches are as good as those more famous $9.00-10.00 sando joints, but Amy's only charges $4.99 (+$0.50 for cheese) for the same excellent quality. Lots of meat, generous toppings, excellent bread (and roll) selections. WooHoo! I wasn't even done with the first half of my sando order when I decided that it was time to start planning the next time I would need to drive out to Union City just to get their wonderful sandwich again. Amy's Donuts is just in my neighborhood and I always love getting their sandwiches. You get great quality stuff. (better than subway for sure) and it's only 3.99 for a fat sandwich. Their donuts are good but I never really get them. Everyone there is soo nice to me and they always spark up a conversation. I was craving donuts and my husband was kind enough to get me some from Amy's. They had run out of chocolate, donut holes and classic donuts by 2 in the afternoon (always a good sign if you ask me) so he ended up getting me a glazed twisty long donut. I love going here, sandwiches are always amazing, I love the donuts as well even though I shouldn't be having them. The ladies here are always super nice. My only issue is that I'm used to 2 women preparing the sandwiches. Usually one more than the other. 2 different times I've gone in this other little lady that is super nice made my sandwich and both times she forgot to add what I requested which was written down on the sandwich bag, so I prefer for her not to make my sandwiches, i rather the 2 other ladies to do it. Krispy Kreme is pretty close by, but it seems to be a tad bit too sweet for me nowadays, so i prefer Amy's. Cheaper and bigger than that other shop. For the sweets, I normally just go with either the glaze, creme filled, or just donut holes here. Its simple, and taste good. But the real gem about this donut shop is their sandwiches. They have good tasting sandwiches, and they're all around the $4 range. There's a couple different sandwiches i order normally, either the turkey, roast beef, or pastrami. For bread, depending on my mood, i'll go with wheat, french roll or croisant. They have a decent amount of variety of meats, breads, and cheese. But they all come standard with the meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard and bread. On the side, u can ask for pepperoncini, and you can ask them to toast it also. I probably only come in for their donuts once every 2 months, but u can catch me here for their sandwiches bi-weekly. It's thats good!! read more
