Featuring a rotating selection of roasters, I am currently obsessed with the beans from Camber roasters up in Bellingham WA that they are featuring for single origin pour over. The Ethiopian Nigusse Nare is so good! I also appreciate how the barista called me over so I can sniff the heady aroma coming off the freshly ground beans before brewing! Fellow coffee nerds would understand. For as busy as this place gets all the baristas are always in a great mood. The tunes emanating from their stereo is supplied by their in house vinyl record collection and is always on point for the coffeehouse vibe. They do have some seating and an improved access to power outlets if your device needs some power. They also share space with B- side foods, a small take out brunch spot! read more

A place that (in another lifetime where I lived in Seattle) I would love to be a regular at! Analog is truly a neighborhood hidden gem as it's in the middle of a completely residential, lowkey area. We parked by a cherry blossom tree a couple blocks away and made our way over. I ordered a latte with oat milk and the espresso flavor was prominent and toasty. Nestled away in the suburbs of Capitol Hill is the coziest coffee shop (attached to b-side foods which has delicious egg sandwiches). What a great little coffee shop in Capitol Hill. It's kind of tucked away down a side street, but that definitely lends itself to a more laid-back "local" feeling. The shop itself isn't too fancy, or trying to do too much. There's plenty of indoor seating, and very limited outdoor seating (none of the indoor seating is particularly comfortable). They have a very straightforward coffee menu, and the prices are reasonable (especially with no Starbucks left in the neighborhood). The coffee was good too. The staff was friendly and helpful and I got to sit and use my laptop while having a break from my day. Truly appreciated. read more

The coffee was phenomenal! I was a little surprised that the large was only 12 oz, which I thought was a bit small - I assume the small would be 8 oz? Analog is nicely tucked away in a residential area. Currently, they don't do inside seating, but there are a few benches outdoors. Make sure you dress accordingly! I got their "one and one" (don't quote me on the name, yelpers we need an updated menu photo!). It was a flight of espresso and macchiato, with a side of sparkling water. The espresso was well balanced, but nothing mind blowing. I believe they use Herkimer coffee beans. Also got a chocolate croissant that was pretty standard. Local coffee shop! Quaint area of Capitol Hill, you pop in and feel like you're part of the neighborhood. I recently moved to this part of cap hill and I am shamelessly working my way through the menu. The other day I ordered the mushroom breakfast sandwich with spicy sauce and aioli. Yum!!! Gotta make it spicy though. Those flavors were so delish. This morning I also ordered a few sides to create an off menu avocado toast with soft egg on top. It was so simple, but delicious! Right behind the main coffee shop is their kitchen which features a small selection of eats. I got their egg sandwich which was delicious. My friend got a soba salad which looked equally scrumptious. I was looking for a new neighborhood coffee shop and glad Analog is around! It always seems busy and some days there's a line out the door--even if it's raining! I've really only had an americano and a pour over, and gotta say, didn't love the pour over. It tasted a little over extracted, so it was probably just a one-off. The americanos, however, have been consistently good. It's pretty small inside, but they do have a few more tables behind the coffee bar, so it's nice to have a sit while enjoying coffee and possibly food from next-door b-side. read more

Amazing cafe. could not recommend this place enough. Delicious coffee and espresso every time. Super nice interior , well loved and they play records all day over their epic hi fi sound system. Baristas are very skilled and also super friendly, personable, and set a super comfortable atmosphere. also the food at b side which is combined with this cafe is amazing, delicious. well i've only had the egg sandwich but it's mind blowing. I guess the only complaint i could manage is that this ruins every other coffee shop in the city for me. Great spot for delicious coffee, place to read or study, amazing pastries too. This is, hands down, the best coffee I've had anywhere in the world. I'm obsessed with their espresso and macchiato. They use Herkimer's beans and manage to bring out such a lovely berry flavor that is striking, complex, and complete perfection. I've had no luck reproducing it at home with the same beans or finding anything comparable around the city. If any guests come to town and are coffee snobs, we bring them here. Love the vibes in here, the baristas and customers are all friendly and chill. Great music selection and lots of tight seating means it's usually packed during meal hours but there's also usually a spot or two to slide into. My lattes and cappuccinos here have always been great, whether cow or oat milk based, and their avocado toast made at B-Side is to die for, truly the best I've ever had, with some lovely zing from everything bagel topping and some great crunch from extra veggies. It's gorgeous and delicious, and the only downside is the amazing sea wolf sourdough it's on is so crusty it's a bit hard to bite through. read more

I could not believe I still haven't give this place a review yet. Analog is very special to the neighborhood and to me as well. The baristas remember your drinks and talk to you like you're a friend. The pastries are good and i think the egg sandwich I tried from their brunch menu is also super delicious. You will find a lot of familiar faces in this place. People hangout around, walk their dogs and sometimes just read with their coffee here. Again, it's a gem for the neighborhood. You can always see a long line during the morning. My first time going, got excited but definitely left upset. They Didn't make my order right, cup size was wrong. Never going back.

Not bad! Espresso is Herkimer, very lively and winey without being overly acidic, with good mineral flavors and an earthy, roasted tree-nut nose. The straight shot flavor decays from dark chocolate to a more malty flavor, then to a sort of blackened root-vegetable, very pleasant and forgiving. This should make for excellent mochas, and vanilla lattes too, if combined quickly with milk to preserve the sugars. I ordered a cappuccino too, to have a look at the barista skills. What I received was a beautiful, perfectly-made latte (see picture). While delicious, it isn't a cappuccino, a classic espresso beverage named for peaked hats worn once-upon-a-time by the capuchin monks, which the beverage supposedly resembles. A cappuccino consists of espresso, a bit of steamed milk, and a "cap" of dry milk foam piled high to a peak upon the surface. Done perfectly, it really is a sublime experience. An expert pour will render a seamless increasingly wet foam as you sip, the layers disappearing, so you taste gradually increasing richness as you drink it. There are few food offerings except the usual phoned-in pastries, and though they offer interesting varietals and blends for pour-over, I would steer clear until they upgrade to a ceramic or glass system, as the metal cones and steel pitchers may impart unpleasant flavors. There is a deli next door, so lunch is still a possibility, and given the pleasant and efficient service, relaxing urban-industrial atmosphere and excellent music, what was a three-star joint makes the four-star list. A bit of barista training and maybe better snack options will make this a top neighborhood coffee option! Recommended, with reservations. read more

Greatest macchiato anywhere, ever. Warning: I'm not a coffee aficionado. I've never understood the craze for bitter sludge; mostly it seems to me that people are addicted to the caffeine and that somehow convinces them to like what it comes in. The love of my life drinks coffee, though, so what am I supposed to do? So yes, I've had thousands of cups of "primarily coffee" stuff here and abroad. My measure of success is "It wasn't awful". Espresso is particularly heinously sludgy, harsh bitterness. I've only tried espresso a few times, every time a torment. So, instead, when I want to critique the coffee in its nearly naked state, I go for a macchiato: espresso wimped down a bit with a splash of steamed milk. What about Analog? I haven't had their straight espresso, but I've had their macchiatto many times now over many years. This stuff is smooth. It's flavorful, tasting lightly of berries and and all of what is best about coffee. No harshness. And the bitterness: where is the bitterness? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH THE BITTERNESS. They've magicked it away. Verdict: Not only is the macchiato not awful, it's almost -- " gulp " -- good...? It's definitely drinkable. And that's the best I can say about any coffee I've ever had other than coffee that's mostly not coffee. read more

I find this place extremely overrated, but it seemed pretty harmless if overpriced--people love standing in long lines, I guess. Anyway, I'm here to say not having a sugar substitute at your coffee shop in 2024 is really unacceptable. Oat milk cappuccino and veggie toast. Veggie toast is UNREAL. Fresh pickled veg, loads of fresh zaatar and herbs in every bite. It's also huge (this photo makes it seem tiny), and apparently vegan! Easily one of the best, and most reasonably priced (under $10) filling yet light lunches I've ever had at a cafe. Come for the coffee and stay for lunch! Folks working are friendly and were happy to make my cappuccino half caf (they offer decaf espresso). read more

If you are looking for an independent coffee shop near the Olive Way Starbucks on Capitol Hill, Analog Coffee is the place I would recommend. It is located about a block away from Starbucks on the same street if you walk further north. The space is small, yet surprisingly cosy and filled with room to sit. There are also a few tables outside which are great for summer days. I believe they have Wi-Fi here as I saw people working away on their computers, so this would be a good spot if you are looking for a coffee shop to work out of. Analog's coffee beans supplier is Herkimer. They do the usual lattes, but also serve cold brew cofee, French Press coffee and pour overs.
