Found a hair in my food. Went there before and the food was good, but can't return because of the following experience.

Heard good things about this place and wanted to give them a try. Went during happy hour and got the oysters. At the time they did not smell right to me but i ate them anyways .... Later that evening i got extremely sick. the experience has unfortunately left me traumatized. I won't eat here again but also will prob never eat oysters and I enjoy oysters . read more

The definition of Taco Tuesday!!! My husband and I lived in Southern California for a little bit - We definitely have an opinion on tacos - let alone fish tacos. Let's just say... Anaya's has become our favorite seafood tacos hand down!!! We can not get enough of the ingredients... the chunks of pineapple, the deliciousness of the perfectly spiced fish, the toppings, even the RICE tastes buttery and delectable. Last week I took my daughter to dinner. We decided to go to Pappadeaux's. However, the wait was going to be over an hour. I suggested that we go to our other favorite seafood place, Anaya's. Because it was a Friday early evening, I called to make a reservation. I was told that there wouldn't be a problem for a reservation for two for 6:00 pm. The woman took my name. I confirmed that it would be a reservation for two at 6:00. However, when we arrived and checked in at the desk , there was no record of the reservation.I was also told that two people didn't need a reservation. Since this wasn't my first time eating at Anaya's , I knew that unless things changed drastically with them, the wait on a Friday evening for seafood could be over an hour. Yet, while we had to wait ( about 40 min.). Other couples and families ( two or more people parties) came in and were seated. THIS LEFT A VERY NASTY TASTE IN MY MOUTH! The food , as always, was delicious and prepared well. Its presentation was done well. However, we couldn't really enjoy the food because of the ordeal of a heated discussion with the young man at the podium who checks customers in. Went here to celebrate Father's Day and the service was great. They were good to the kids so I don't ask for much more than that. We had my parents, my in-law parents, and my brother-in-law parents, basically we had 3 OG parents together and they were happy with the food. Our family loves this restaurant! Thanks to other Yelpers, we gave it a try and have been coming back since. They have a full bar and daily specials. The portion sizes are large. Their fish and chips are the best in Dallas that we have tasted. It makes two meals for me. I also really like their clam chowder. If you want a great deal, hit them up during the week for their Happy Hour food & drink specials. I always get the Shrimp Nachos for $8 and it's so delicious. Every dish I've had at Anaya's has been a winner! I tried the Garlic Parmesan Flounder with jumbo lump crab, tomato basil cream sauce over a bed of garlic whipped potatoes and seasonal veggies (broccoli). We were given soup samples to start out our meal (I'll be back for the poblano soup) and even offered free wine after finding out the new establishment is still waiting for their liquor license. Awesome touches. The food was amazing. The sauce on the flounder is from heaven and their mashed potatoes must've been whipped for hours on end because of how freaking soft and fluffy they were. We especially enjoyed speaking with Darnell --outgoing and exceptionally knowledgeable about food. Because it was our first time there, they brought out a sampler of three soups. All three soups were absolutely superb. All tasted homemade and were loaded with flavor. I got the fish and chips which were outstanding. Fish was fresh with crispy batter. My wife got the house salad with blackened shrimp. This was not the typical boring house salad. It had pears, bacon, and feta in it, and was also made with exceptionally fresh ingredients. The blackened shrimp were explosions of flavor. My dish came with a couple of hush puppies. Usually hush puppies are added just as fillers and I almost skipped these. I glad I didn't--just like everything else served these were a knock out with seasoning. Delicious. My hat is off to whomever developed the recipes for this spot --and considering my male pattern baldness, I rarely tip my hat to anyone. Wow. A friend told me about this place and it held up to our standards! We had a sample of the soups. Went with clam chowder. Packed with clams and potatoes. So tasty. Had gulf oysters and they were juicy and delicious. We had crab cakes for dinner with a side of garlic mash. SO FLAVORFUL. And the DRINKS!!!!! Alfredo's margarita will NOT disappoint. This is a MUST try place! I do a lot of reviews, but this was 2 hours from my house and I went here since I was in the area helping my Niece in Murphy. This is a rare unicorn that has 160 reviews with solid 5 stars! That's very special, and after eating here, they deserve every star! Honestly, the fast greeting and seating was great, then the house frozen margarita was on happy hour half price all day Saturday and Sunday. Who doesn't like that? Especially when they taste great and have the right mix. They have 4 soups, which I had a small thimble of three: Gumbo, New England Clam Chowder, and Roasted Poblano creamy soup. The New England was my pick since it was slightly different than 100's I've had. It's special down to the last drop. Then I has the garlic Parmesan crusted flounder with broccoli and fresh made mashed potatoes. Really really good! The mashed potatoes were just like moms would be all from scratch! Just awesome! Flounder was delicate and perfectly flaky and tasted so delicious. The service was great, and I had a chance to meet Miguel, the owner. He's been open only a year or so, but he's been the backbone of so many restaurants. This was his 1st and just had a 1 year anniversary on Dec 7.
