This is a mixed review - some excellent, some not so much. First of all, this place is noisy. If you go out to eat to talk to your family or date, whatever you do, don't sit near the live music. I don't know why restaurants think we want to be entertained while we eat. We ordered calamari and it was very good! Two of us had a blackened Mahi with scallops and shrimp etouffee topping on rice. The scallops and etouffee was EXCELLENT - I would have taken a bowl of just that. The Mahi was so salty it was almost inedible. Why chefs think more salt is better is beyond me. Customers can add salt - always go light. One of us had Fish and Chips. The fish part was fine but the batter was thick and not cooked all the way through - there was raw batter near the fish. It got scraped off. The kids had a hamburger, Mac and Cheese and fries. The hamburger was fine but they wouldn't eat the Mac and Cheese. Honestly, if you're going to serve gourmet mac and cheese on the adult menu, fine. But if you put M & C on a kids menu - make it just plain Kraft cheese. Kids haven't developed a taste for fancy. The service was Exceptional. The waiter was attentive, the manager checked on us and the food came out very fast. read more

A friend of mine treated me to Anaya's for a late lunch on my birthday and it was simply one of the best restaurants in the Richardson area and I'm already thinking about what to order next time I go back. It was really a great experience from the moment we got there. We started with margaritas and ordered an appetizer, they were so kind to let us order the crab cakes and substitute one for a crab mac and cheese cake so we were able to try one of each. Both were perfectly crisp on the outside, plenty of sweet bits of crab meat on the inside but my favorite was the mac and cheese version. It had plenty of flavor as it was well seasoned, the mac and cheese was creamy, the noodles were perfectly tender, creamy with bits of crab and tomato aioli was a perfect complement. I ordered the Garlic Parmesan Flounder and it was one bite of absolute perfection after another. The flounder is crispy on the outside with it's parmesan crust, buttery and succulent on the inside. It was served atop a bed of buttery mashed potatoes and even the broccoli it came with was beautifully cooked to a crisp-tender and really well seasoned. We ended lunch with the bread pudding for dessert and oh my goodness, when I tell you don't, not order this whenever you go, I'm so serious. You need this bread pudding in your life!!! Every single bite was warm, custardy goodness, not a single bite of the bread pudding was dried out. It was absolutely everything that you'd want in a bread pudding and to top it off, the caramel sauce is completely dreamy and its also served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. read more

Tried Anaya Seafood for the first time and went with the Honey Chipotle Glazed Cedar Plank Salmon. The flavor was solid & definitely sweet with a little kick, but it wasn't served hot, which was a bit of a letdown. The mashed potatoes were really good, and creamy. Pro tip if it's your first time: ask to sample the soups! They don't always mention it, but it's worth trying. Overall, a solid experience with room for improvement. read more

The atmosphere here is laid back, interior is pleasant but not overdone. The service was engaging and open but didn't hover. But the real star here is the food! I had the pecan crusted haddock with Grand Marnier sauce , seasonal vegetables and roasted sweet potatoes. It was a lovely plate, with the fish presented on top of the vegetables ringed by sweet potatoes. I usually don't bother with zucchini and squash but I ate most of it because the texture was on point and it was seasoned well. The hunks of sweet potatoes were silky inside and roasted to a slight char on the edges. It could have been dessert. But the star attraction was the fish, well textured on the outside with a sauce that took it to another level. A wonderful experience all around! read more

Excellent food, service, and a cool "laid back" ambiance and vibe complete with a giant chalkboard listing daily and drink specials. I typically like grilled and blackened seafood rather than fried (most of what you taste with fried is the batter and dipping sauce). Excellent bread pudding and key lime pie, too! read more

I can't believe it took me this long to visit this place. Service was amazing. They're efficient. From host to waitress, to taking our order, and dinner coming out in a timely manner. Outstanding dining experience! We had never been here, nor had we heard of this place, but we definitely plan on returning and telling everyone we know to check it out too. On a whim, I bid on a silent auction gift card for dinner at Anaya's. No one had bid on it, so I put my name down not really expecting to win. I figured it would help support the Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC), allow me to take my hubby out for some seafood, and support a local restaurant. Surprisingly, I won this silent auction item at RALC's Murder Mystery fundraiser event. We wasted no time, and cashed it in tonight. Located in northeast Richardson off the George Bush Tollway, this place is easy to get to. There is lots of parking available. In these COVID times, we were so happy to find that they had tables and chairs setup outside directly in front and along the side of the restaurant. You could dine inside too, but why risk it? Plus, it was a beautiful evening. The sun was setting and the temperature was exceptionally cool and pleasant, a rare occurrence in Texas. The hostess stand is inside the restaurant. We were greeted right away and welcomed to claim our two-seater, wrought iron table in the far corner of the patio. Our server was out shortly with our water and margaritas and took our meal order since we were able to quickly decide what we wanted. I loved that the 1 page paper menus had a nice selection of entrees. There were several items I wanted to try, but happily selected the Herb-pecan crusted cod with sweet potato and broccoli. My husband wasted no time ordering the Red Ruby Trout with artichoke, capers and spinach. Both meals were plated beautifully. It was just as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the palette. The portions were generous and completely satisfying. Despite this, we tacked on some bread pudding to share for dessert. The waiter and the chef were kind enough to split our portions and serve them on their own plates. This place is delightful, and would have easily won 5 stars from me had we not been charged full price for our alcohol after being told that our house margaritas were $4 during the Cinco de Mayo happy hour. We should have looked over the bill more carefully while at the restaurant and brought it to the attention of our waiter, but we decided not to spoil the evening pursuing this point of contention. She would say it in a tone that made you think she was afraid of the answer. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. Seriously, she is a nice girl but this is not her calling. I get it that maybe this is all the restaurants can get these days with everyone riding the unemployment train. So I give her credit for working for a living. We were in town for some medial appointments and stayed close. We found Anaya's and thought it sounded interesting. We were not disappointed. The food was good, specials plentiful, and staff very friendly. We had oysters n the half shell as well as a fish and chips. The oysters were nicely presented and flavorful. The fish and chips weee more than enough for two! The batter was a tad doughy but not horrid, and the leftovers in the oven a tad did the trick. read more

We have always had an enjoyable time at Anaya's , but tonight was far different. This is beyond just service, or food, so this is why I'm writing a less than favorable review. I have a food allergy, and told the server this, and she assured me that what I was ordering would not be an issue. Once delivered, there was no way I could eat my dish, as my food allergy was throughout the dish. She said, "the kitchen is really busy, sorry." Anyone with a food allergy has to be very careful , or else. The manager came over and asked if I wanted something else. My dish came out cold, but at this point, I just wanted to leave, and eat something at home. They could have done so much better. read more

Last week I took my daughter to dinner. We decided to go to Pappadeaux's. However, the wait was going to be over an hour. I suggested that we go to our other favorite seafood place, Anaya's. Because it was a Friday early evening, I called to make a reservation. I was told that there wouldn't be a problem for a reservation for two for 6:00 pm. The woman took my name. I confirmed that it would be a reservation for two at 6:00. However, when we arrived and checked in at the desk , there was no record of the reservation.I was also told that two people didn't need a reservation. Since this wasn't my first time eating at Anaya's , I knew that unless things changed drastically with them, the wait on a Friday evening for seafood could be over an hour. Yet, while we had to wait ( about 40 min.). Other couples and families ( two or more people parties) came in and were seated. THIS LEFT A VERY NASTY TASTE IN MY MOUTH! The food , as always, was delicious and prepared well. Its presentation was done well. However, we couldn't really enjoy the food because of the ordeal of a heated discussion with the young man at the podium who checks customers in. New to the area, since December 2020, Anaya's is a great place to get great Southern food. Items like shrimp or catfish poboys and gumbo are on the menu. My mother and I went in during lunch on a Saturday. We were ordering food to go and one of the waiters brought over samples of the soup. We sampled gumbo, clam chowder and the roasted poblano cream soups. Even one of the owners came over and greeted us. The atmosphere was super chilled. While we were deciding on our order, a guy came in to set up music equipment. I think they showcase live music on the weekends. So nice! We settled on ordering a cup of gumbo, a cup of clam chowder, Anaya's grilled shrimp &fettuccine, a shrimp platter and a catfish platter. Everything was delicious!! They were so gracious to make minor substitutions to our order and that's what made the difference for us. We will definitely order from this restaurant again. Came back on busy Friday night with my cousin. Service was excellent as usual. I couldn't have seafood that night so I got some sautéed spinach and sweet potatoes and they were excellent! My cousin got the flounder dish and it was perfect. The flavors of the dish were incredible he ate the whole thing and it was a large portion. Overall you won't be disappointed if you come here. I've been here twice now and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is perfect both in the summer and winter months and the bar seems to always be busy. Great job! read more

Went in 21 October 2023. Food was not it. Service was great. Restaurant vibe was alright. For appetizer, I got the fried crab Mac and cheese. It was fried ball of goodness. The complimentary soup sample was delicious... However, everything went downhill after that. Oysters came in for the table and boy did it stink. It smelled like an Asian supermarket and their bathroom. Some oysters were alright. I had a few that was so bad I had to go to the bathroom and puke after. I loaded my oysters up with cocktail and horseradish to hide to rotten smell... should've not even eat it. One of the chefs came out and asked our table if our food was fresh... one friend said yes just to be kind but in reality it was not. Then when one friend ate a really bad oyster, he stopped eating the rest of the dozen he had ordered. Kinda suspicious that a chef came out to ask if the oyster was fresh... he must have known something was wrong with it. The entree I got wasn't good as well. The fish tasted super bland. I tasted a hint of sweetness and maple syrup on the sauce but everything was very bland. It was as if the cod was frozen and soaked in water then squeeze out of any fish essence it had. A meeting was in the works. An ex-coworker and I met for lunch. When we arrived, the place of choice was not going to be open for 1/2 hour. We were hungry, so we looked around and saw Anaya's Seafood. We both love seafood. Having grown up on an ocean coast, I had a very distinct view of what constituted fresh seafood. Color me skeptical. Upon walking in, I was immediately impressed. It is a very comfortable atmosphere. We were immediately greeted and seated. We ordered our drinks and grabbed a menu. I have to tell you; I studied hard. There were so many choices. I ordered a grilled catfish po'boy. The catfish was delicious, and I'm not a huge fan of catfish. Why did I order? Probably due to so many choices, I was overwhelmed. New places sometimes do that to me. I was not disappointed--I was surprised it tasted so delicious--no, I wasn't that hungry to start with. My friend seemed to be equally happy with his meal. We both agreed we'd have to take our spouses to dinner at Anaya's soon. I want to add one more item to this review. The server. He was perfect. He didn't hurry us and was very helpful in deciphering the menu. I have to give the service a five ***** star rating. If you like seafood, and with very few really good seafood restaurants in North Texas, I bet y'all would enjoy Anaya's. read more

Good food, good value. The only issue we have is that they do not honor the reservations properly. So for example, a reservation for 12, typically gets us table space for 8 and two chairs crammed onto the ends. They will then offer to bring another 4 top, but they put us in an area that will not accommodate another table comfortably. The answer would seem to be that if we need 12 seats, ask for 16? This has happened to us 3 times. read more
